A roleplay inspired partially by this thread, this thread, this thread and the general tone and pseudo 8-bit style of MSPA. I don't wanna write much for such an idea so unlikely to get any bites, but here's the gist of it.

• The world is ambiguously in an 80's videogame. Names are in caps, Everything is pixelly and 8-bit, inventories have a limit of nine objects (No matter the size) and experience and gold shoot out of corpses.

• Every post will be accompanied by an image, be it a shitty MS Paint drawing or several drawings to convey a bunch of different actions. As a result, we'll probably not have the fastest pace. For examples of the kinds of pictures I'm talking about, check out the inspirations cited.

• The tone of the roleplay will be lighthearted and humorous. If there's a lich who's enslaved a gentle race of innocents, his name will probably be BONECOCK THE PUTRESCENT or something stupid. I intend for this game to be a slow-paced hangout thread just as much as it is a roleplay.

• Our characters will all be some variation of classic fantasy archetypes. If there's an archer, he's probably wearing green and has a hood. Why do all archers wear green hoods? Hopefully, this will be explained in the RP.

• This idea is less about actual roleplaying and more about having a fun roleplaying-based forum game. The only reason this post isn't in Spam is because I need you to actually be funny for this to work, and to establish a certain level of commitment a forum game lacks.

The Kilronan Isles

_{The Kilroni are a people viewed much in the same way as their lands; cold, dour, and untrustworthy. A maritime culture through and through, virtually all of the Kilroni's favorite pasttimes center around their prized ships, with diets based on fish and villages built solely on the coasts. They are best known for their turtle boats, a type of armored skiff which can withstand impacts from shallow rocks, ice floes, and the hulls of ships with surprising ease. Aside from their affinity for the sea, little is known of Kilroni customs by outsiders due to their native dialect, which is just as the Kilroni prefer.}

Geography

The Kilronan Isles are extremely hilly, with an unpleasant wetness all year round. It has the most mountains of any of Lyria's seven noble lands, and because of this, the lowest population. The Kilroni mountains, though bare of any gems or gold, possess great banks of salt beneath the stone, as well as veins of coal. Its forests -- which are almost entirely coniferous -- shield the serfs who toil in mines and farms from the bitter sea winds. Aside from pockets of inland villages, there is little alive on the islands but the three animals that have proved too quick for the Kilroni to hunt to extinction; birds, hares, and snapping turtles.

The coasts of the Kilronan isles house more than half of its population, to the point where the Kilroni lack actual beaches, instead having a coastline that has been slowly replaced with the ever-expanding wooden shores of docks and coastal villages. Though many of these villages are mere shantytowns, the Kilroni have several bustling port cities used as trade hubs, including their royal capital, Stonreige.

History

The Kilronan Isles, long before they were strip-mined of salt by the House of Goruna or encased in miles of barnacle caked docks, was a near-lifeless land bridge that connected Lyria to the north pole. According to the creation story of its inhabitants, they were given life and form by a green sun and pulled themselves from the soil and mud, staying where they lived even after the land bridge had eroded into a series of craggy islands.

The first Kilroni called their land "Nokulikulk", which roughly translated to "Land that is not nothing". Aside from their reliance on sailing and fishing rather than farming or hunting, there were relatively few dissimilarities between themselves and the rest of Lyria for some time -- The island denizens even learned Commontongue alongside their own language, giving themselves the name Kilroni after the name of their first ruling family, the House of Kilron.

During their early history, the Kilroni quickly began to hunt local species of game to extinction, spreading throughout the unclaimed patches of mainland and islands in search of food in the face of a famine. Although the nation's borders expanded greatly, the Kilroni's quickly-growing population ultimately proved too great to be supported by the region's meager arable land. This period lasted nearly a decade, during which about a third of the populace starved to death, inciting many to begin consuming things considered inedible -- namely, the shells of turtles, pinecones, seaweed, and humans -- particularly the very young, very old, and casualties of battle. Though these acts of desperation only lasted for a short period of history, it has left a stain on their reputation neighboring countries have not been quick to forget; The Kilroni are known further east where they are seen far less as "Frogfolk", referring to the muddy landscape of the Kilronan isles and the frog's instinctual habit of eating its own eggs or tadpoles if it is hungry enough.

Aside from a brief period of famine, the history of the Kilronan isles is remarkably forgettable for most of its recorded existence. The House of Kilron ruled the isles for several hundred years, only being usurped by House Goruna a century ago through sheer luck. At the time, House Kilron's king, his brothers, and the queen died in a shipwreck, leaving the heir and responsibility of the Kilron line to the young prince Edwin. A boy of ten, he used his newfound authority to immediately invade COUNTRY. This short war and subsequent defeat weakened support of House Kilron by noble houses due to the soldiers lost and resources wasted. In the end it was House Goruna that proved the most ruthless of the disapproving royal houses, usurping the house that had ruled their nation for hundreds of years and ensuring their claim to the throne by having the young Edwin Kilron executed at Duncan Goruna's coronation, in full view of their unexpecting royal guests. With the Kilron line ended, its lands were given to one of the remaining royal houses and House Goruna was named rulers of the Kilronan isles.

Culture
Hoo boy. This section should be the largest, and cover as many facets of their culture you can think of. I don't just wanna know their clothes and religion, I want to know what their food is like, how other countries view them, what their view of death is, and so on. Do they use beds or rollout futons to conserve space? Do they bathe normally, or is regularly being submerged in water considered unhealthy? Are there foods associated with a holiday? Do they duel over honor or legal matters? You get the picture.

Military
Aside from the general "They have a lot of foot soldiers, a few mounted soldiers, and some archers" tell me how their military is different than any other military, and do it without listing any numbers. Do they ride something besides horses or sail something besides galleys? Do they make use of psychological, biological, or economic warfare? Do they take prisoners? Things like that. If this section includes some bullshit special group of a hundred that uses two swords because they went to sword college or something like that, see yourself to the door.

Economy
In the simplest terms, what do you import and export? Do you make a lot of things, or just one thing? Is your country in debt to another? Geography and culture will play a role here. Also, no country is self sufficient.

Relations
The Krassin Empire - The Krassin Empire and Kilronan Isles regularly trade provisions, especially in the harsh winter months. This has increased greatly in recent years with the Krassin Republic's new leadership, which has worked swimmingly for House Goruna.

This can start with some dude so long ago people don't think he's real, or it can start with your current monarch's birth. All I really wanna know is the recent history.

House Members

A list of the people in your country's royal family, starting with the king and ending with the youngest heir.

House Specialty
If you were waiting for a section to put a weirdly specific strength, this is it. Houses can have military traditions and thus focus on making their heirs study tactics, or have artistic traditions, or have their strength not be related to a tradition at all. Maybe they have a really cool boat. Maybe they breed weird animals. Anyway, feel free to lean on the fantasy tagline here a little and use your imagination.
