Some people need to make a hard choice when deciding which two karaoke streams they want to listen to. I have no such weakness: I have two ears for a reason.

The hard part about trying to play some politically savvy mastermind is the assumption that the world operates off real world politics and not your DM’s politics.

Don't put too much stock in prophesies. At best they're full of shit, but more often than not they're one of those self-fullilling kinds. Plan for what happens afterwards instead.

A character isn't deep or compelling just because you let them get hurt a lot, are always depressed, or do morally questionable things.

Bio

If you're here either you're wondering what I'm doing cause I need to post in your RP (In which case, calm yo tits, I'll get around to it), or you want to know who I am. So let's begin.

I'm a college age asian kid who has more heart than he has senses. I'm still working out this whole "adulthood" thing, so until then I just do what I feel I must. As far as personality and traits go, I'm not one for boasting. So if there's anything redeeming about myself you'd have to figure it out in person or by word-of-mouth. Generally however I'm rather perverted, in the best and worst ways. nothing is too much until I've crossed the line, and that just means I've started.

As far as Roleplays I like, I have a thing for fantasy, though I'm also good for some types of sci-fi, supernatural, Modern, and slice-of-life. If it's open and sandbox, I'll probably join it. Never really been a romantic, I often chose to sexualize any notion of romantic encounters I come across. I generally write at Casual quality, though I have no issues with Free-Level Rp/Players and I can hold my own in Advance.

Nada. Even if you had tried to do prior research about Nurn, information is scares, all the stories are conflicted with one another, and the only one consistent thing is that the port town exists. Even when lies immediately beyond changes depending on where you got your source.

And I can certainly tell you no one has ever mentioned cyclop being within the ruins of Brighthaven before. A little something special just for you guys.
@Ladypug

Unfortunate, but understandable. If you don't mind then I'll make sure your plot hook can go to Zaphander since Annabeth is likely the only other person connected to Cassius who might've heard about Maren's note. Assuming Zaphander still wants to do this of course.
@Zanavy

Waiting for you again, but I'll move us along by Friday at the latest.
I should work on a post.
@ArkmageddonCat

Sorry for not getting to you sooner. Long story short, the GM is gone and I've taken over for the sake of keeping this RP alive. That being said I'll still try to remain consistent to what she had told us before she vanished.

This is a low fantasy RP, so while you can have fantasy races like elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, etc, their abilities tend to be within the realms of normalcy. No creature has any particular innate magic abilities like turning invisible, conjuring fire, or transforming into animals. Indeed magic itself is rare and often reserved for the rich, powerful, and elderly. You're pretty much either just a plain person or straight up Gandalf. That being said there are still monsters in this world, treasures to be had, and adventures to go on. A civil war just broke out recently so there's no shortages of battles to be had if that's your thing, but just as well you can focus on other stuff too like investigating new mysteries that popped up or maybe just profiting from the chaos.

As far as writing quality goes this is still Free, so as long as your grammar and spelling is good enough for a highschool essay, it's fine for this RP. A lot of us are writing two or three paragraphs per post, some of us even more, but there's not hard limit to how much you need to write for a post. I would request that you at least wait for two other players to post before you post again: I'd rather not have two people go back-to-back and create twenty or so posts between themselves.

Aside from that standard rules apply. Be nice to others, talk to the GM (Me) if you have any problems, don't be OP, etc. I guess I should mention, I'm also okay if you want to command a band of NPC's for yourself if you decide to go a military route. I'd rather not see lone players who can single-handily take on ten soldiers just to wank about how badass they are. If you at least have your own soldiers backing you up, I can accept how you might not get yourself skewered on seven pikes or turned into a pincushion full of arrows.
And I posted.

For some of you I've gave specific hooks, but the ones who I haven't I'm more than willing to work something out. That being said, I highly encourage that you all form your own groups together just to ensure a bit of teamwork. I will of course still be playing my own characters but they'll have a more narrative purpose so that I can focus on GMing.
A week had passed, and much had happened.

Shortly after the battle of Tamberle, the original queen of Erlad, Maren Trevoste, vanished. There was no sign of her disappearance nor her death. No one in the city has seen where she went or what happened to her. The only person to have any idea was her personal guard, Cassius, and even then all he found was a note written by her telling him that his services would no longer be needed. With the note was the rest of the promised payment she owed to him and a key.

When word of Maren's disappearance reached the orcs, Malakaus and his clan left Tamberle. But the world was not at peace. Though Mago sat on the throne of Erlad, many lords within his domain rebelled against him, and just as many took up arms to defend him. The kingdom of Erlad was split into civil war. The lords mobilized their armies and agents to defend their lands and to attack their rivals. Worse still, the chaos from this fighting awakened all sorts of monsters that once were asleep. Vicious trolls and ogres left their forest dens and would attack outlying villages, killing livestock and eating villagers. The orc tribes, who were once peacefully living in their mountain homes, now attack human settlements in large warbands to take back what was once theirs. Deserters and brigands join forces to elude the armies of the lords to raid and pillage as they desire, amassing enough wealth and treasure to potentially compete against lords themselves. The sheer speed in which the kingdom was tearing itself apart was alarming, almost as if there had been some cursed placed upon the land.

Those who fought in Tamberle or arrived would have very little reason to stay. While Maren's presence once brought an army at it's gates, the Fire Fens and Tamberle's isolation fortunately kept it away from the chaos further north. The lord of the city however desperately wished to build up his own forces in preparation to commit to the battle ahead; he still supported Maren as the true leader of Erlad, and he knew it won't be long before his enemies will arrive to try and take his city to secure the sea route he controls. There were also rumors of strange sightings within the Fire Fens of an unusual creature, not an animal in any way shape or form. Fearful that these rumors may house a monster, the Merchant's Guild has sent a bounty on this beast for anyone brave enough to hunt it.

Additionally, Hark would've received a coded message via raven requesting him to return to Bernard Dowson, as the civil war would require Hark's expertise. The letter stressed that Maren's death or disappearance was no longer a priority; with the uprising of lords it was more important to quell the rebellion and ensure that the rebelling lords are not able to form an alliance that could rival the throne or worse, ally with nations who are enemies of Erlad.

Monika would also find evidence of something amiss among her home. Or rather, a certain lack of evidence; had her master truly left his home why was it that he took nothing with him? His books were all here, all his worldly possessions, even what little wealth he had was exactly where he had hid them. If he had truly gone on some journey he had taken no supplies nor any means to secure supplies. Not to mention that upon closer examination, the paper in which he wrote his message on was not one common in Tamberle; it was some sort of parchment that was oddly resistant against heat. Certainly high quality material, but not one she's ever heard of. Not here at least. But perhaps with this little bit of evidence, she may have a trail to follow.

Cassius and his mercenaries would have their pay from Maren, but beyond that they were released from service and had no current clients. He could always swear his sword for the lord of the city who was more than eager to accept Cassius's skills and abilities. However there was something else he and his men could follow up on; the strange key that he had received appeared to be made of a dark steel, sturdier than any steel he's had before. Rumor has it that this is an ancient metal known as Adamantine, and that for a key to be made out of a valuable material like this would surely lead to treasures great and powerful. Additionally the key had a small but faded emblem on it. It was hard to make out but Cassius would vaguely recognize it. It looked like that emblem on the banner that the orcs had carried during the night they fought against the Karsusians mercenaries.

Change was coming to these lands. Many will die, but many will rise during the chaos. Be they peasant or king it was anyone's call now. All it would take to change the winds of fate was for one person to step forward and take action.
Alright then. For the sake of this RP, I'll be taking over until Polybius comes back. I'll have a timeskip up ASAP. Details will be within.

@Arreyis

There's no real posting order and most of us are stuck waiting for the GM. I'm actually waiting to see their responses to know if it'll be alright to start a timeskip forward towards a week so we can get out of this deadlock and move things on. I'd hate to force the issue if they haven't responded yet.
Awesome. I'll post up my CS in the CS tab then.
