Current To those I RP with, I haven't dropped off of the face of the earth, just had a mental health crash but am recovering. Now to catch up on posting.

The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

Yeesh, I've just realised what a depressing IC post that was, considering it's Father's Day today (at least where I am).

Looking over her shoulder, Jess watched Roxy leave, taking that feeling of discomfort with her. Trying not to dwell on how this could turn out, she placed her belongings into a suitcase and backpack.

A few sets of clothes, a few toiletries. Books given to her as gifts. A notebook she'd written her plans for the future in, easier to stick to if she had them right in front of her. A laptop she'd barely been able to use out here. A framed photograph that showed her as a child, accompanied by both her parents as they sat in the park. Everything had been so much simpler then.

"I won't disappoint you, Dad," she whispered, looking at his smiling face in the picture, even though it was too late. He'd gone to his grave not knowing if things would improve for his daughter, his additional source of stress. "I'll be alright."

She didn't know if she would be alright, but all she could do was convince herself.

After packing away the photo, along with a wooden figurine of a bird her father had carved for her a long time ago - her reminder to "fly high", as he wanted - she checked around the rooms for other items to take.
Sophia Danvers

Mesalon Gym

Sophia glanced over at Oscar, the steely glint returning to her eyes as she tried and failed to hide the softness she'd shown. "Just... Don't get big-headed about it!" she said hastily. "Remember, out of the two of us, I'm the one who's not your run-of-the-mill trainer!" She thought back to what Lan had said just now, though, about how caring for Pokemon was more important than any level of power. Could she measure up to Oscar in that respect?

And although that guy wasn't a psychic himself, he might as well be, Sophia thought bitterly, with that Ralts constantly relaying things to him. She hoped Daisho wasn't telling Oscar anything more about her vulnerable side than he already knew. In any case, at least the other trainer had stopped bombarding her with those nosy questions. For now.

"But seeing as those two enjoy hanging out..." Her attention shifted to Lacey and Daisho, then back to Oscar. "We might as well."

This would probably go as it always did, she was sure of it. And yet, here she was, agreeing to spend time with him more and more often, despite everything. What had gotten into her?

Amber Pine

Mesalon Pokecentre -> Outside

@Heckno12 @AbysmalDemon @Dusksong

"Fossils? I'll make sure to find at least one, then," Amber replied, eyes shining with enthusiasm, as she stood up. "I wonder what kinds of Pokemon used to live around here?" She stared into space, imagining a time when Rampardos and Bastiodon battled it out while flocks of Archeops soared overhead.

"Kabu!" Chalcedony nudged Amber's leg with his rocky head, snapping her out of her daydream.

"Ah... Yes. Well, let's find that out for ourselves!" She let Larimar claim a Pokeball - the trainer planned to let her out in the cave, but it was about time to officially catch the Anorith - and headed out with the others.

As much as she looked forward to exploring the caves, though, worry tainted her excitement. "Aedre?" she said, her voice a little softer. "There's something I've been thinking over. You wouldn't mind giving me some input?"

✿ Florence Hadley ✿

Location: Greenhaven

@Dusksong

Even though Leisy was right, Florence winced. "But... What if they don't like it?" She'd never planned to do much in the way of battling. She'd simply meant to observe and befriend Pokemon. This journey, though, had turned out utterly unlike anything she'd expected. "They're so young, most of them..."

Deep down, she knew it was necessary. Better to battle in a controlled environment than risk having anything worse happen to any more of her Pokemon. Even so, she couldn't say she was entirely comfortable with the idea.

"Maybe this Cacnea won't mind too much?" she mumbled, holding the Pokeball containing the Grass type. If Cacneas liked challenges, then he seemed like the best one to train.

Looking around at the two other trainers' new Pokemon, Florence gave a hint of a smile. If only they could all have gained the new additions to their teams in better circumstances.

♥ Ellanor "Ella" Beaufort ♥

Location: Greenhaven

@Dusksong

"With so many Rock and Ground types, this'll be the perfect place for you to train!" Ella encouraged Florence. "And I'm sure Vivian will be happy to have a sparring session. I bet you'll get along great with her!"

She stood up, cradling the Weedle in one arm, and retrieved the Pokeball with the Nidoran. "C'mon, if you're feeling up to it, let's stock up, then let's go!" She let out Pincushion, who sniffed around the unfamiliar place, ears twitching. With his sensitive hearing, he'd be able to listen out for anything threatening along the way. It would be quite a walk from here - again, with the three of them running on little sleep.

Ella wished she felt as confident as she sounded.

Are other people having trouble with Discord?
Jessamyn "Jess" Bailey

No sooner had she spoken, Jess picked up on a gut-churning feeling from the other woman. Contempt. She winced. She knew she should be thankful she wasn't getting the full force of this person's emotions, but she didn't want to bother Roxy any more than she had to.

How did people appear confident, again? Had she really forgotten how to interact with others? If so, she had no choice but to relearn. Straightening her back, Jess forced herself to look directly at Roxy.

"I only have a little to take. I'll sort it out right now," she replied, making a start on gathering up her belongings. Roxy shouldn't have to think she'd need to constantly run around after her.
@Dusksong It's easy to miss, it was a long post.
Jessamyn "Jess" Bailey

Jess had imagined, over and over for the past five years, what this moment would be like. She'd been worried she'd end up stuck with someone who pitied her, saw her as some helpless waif. At least this woman wasn't like that... but this situation was hardly much better.

"I..." And now here she was, freezing up like some rabbit in the headlights. Pull yourself together! she mentally yelled at herself. She recalled the taunts at school, while she'd grown increasingly desperate to find someone who could help her hold on to stability. Jess the mess, some people had called her. She couldn't come across that way now. Roxy didn't need that.

And yet, mixed emotions coursed through her. Not that she was any stranger to those. At least most of it was her own this time, or so she assumed. Relief at her chance to get out of here, mixed with frustration and guilt at her dependency. She'd had plenty of time to make plans for her return to society, plans that sounded workable in theory. The reality was, though, resuming her life would mean taking away somebody else's.

"I'm Jess," she said, trying to sound as together as possible. She attempted a smile, which turned out more of a grimace. "And there isn't much here... It's ok."

It wasn't ok. Things were anything but ok for either of them.
@Dusksong The battle's in an "Earlier that day" hider.
@Dusksong I'm guessing those extra TP and CP are from the battle between Cici and Luna. We made four posts each over PM.
