Current DinoBlade is seriously making me imagine an even more hardcore version of Dinotopia, and it's getting distracting.

It is with my fondest resolution to have an impact on as many lives as possible in mind that I say "BREATHE MANUALLY NOW!" Okay thanks. Now back to writing things only I can enjoy.

I get the impression that it's best to put as much info into the interest check as possible, just so players know what they're getting themselves into as soon as possible.

Woouldn't you know that work picks up just when things are getting good. But I'm nothing if not stubborn when it comes to my crazy ideas.

Greetings visitor! I hope you're having a good day! Whether you've seen me around the guild or not, I should admit that it's only been within year-6 of my time on this site that I've bothered to start work on this here "bio". I feel like I should apologize for not making it a higher priority much sooner, but lately I've adopted that "better late than never" mindset when it comes to introductions, and besides, I doubt there was much to tell in my early years anyway. I'm pretty much an amateur writer who got my start as a minor tag-along player in a fandom AU campaign ran by a small, close-nit remnant of a community formerly in association with a notable strategy-gaming youtuber. I'm being vague for brevity's sake. In the end, I value my first exposure to roleplaying as a personal learning experience more than anything, as I'm definitely the kind of person that sequesters themselves in any given community they find themselves in and RPG is certainly no exception.

That pretty much explains what I've been up to for the last several or so years, with only occasional public posts from me, as private 1x1 roleplays are easily where the lion's share of my attention goes to. Details regarding my particular interests and even approach as a prospective partner can be found in the interest check I update very rarely, but if you'd like to have a link to it or want to work with me in a similar capacity, then PMs are the best way to reach me. As for what you can expect in very broad terms, I'll say that I'm a 90s kid who'd grown up on Nintendo and Cartoon Network where, thanks to Toonami, I've developed an appreciation for the Japanese style of animation, a style that commonly influences my own creative endeavors to this day. That is in no way to say that I'm an avid watcher of anime and the like (I have my tastes and while that does sometimes coincide with what's current, it usually doesn't), just that I gravitate toward the ludicrous, extraordinary concepts and settings they commonly facilitate. That style aligns with what excites me creatively. That's the long and short of it. Exceptions do exist of course.

... And since I you’ve been asking nonstop, Jeremy finally started walking not long after we settled in! Millie was in the other room, so she almost missed it when he got to his feet and started wobbling off the carpet. The little guy really caught me by surprise when he began, though the same can’t be said for when he fell flat on his butt almost immediately afterwards,” Vivian read with warm mirth to her voice, the old dwarf laughing hardily from his weathered wooden recliner at the front deck of his home. There was another chair to his side that he offered to her, but she respectfully declined.

It wasn’t very often that she got the go-ahead to recite someone’s mail for them, but Mr. Hulgrom was a common exception as of late when it came to his son’s letters from abroad. Before then, she’d often pass by his residence to happily deliver mail as she would anyone, most certainly those of the solitary sort. But lately the old man had begun to open up about his family, and while she herself didn’t have similar stories to tell (not while she was on the clock at least), they both grew fond of this little arrangement of theirs, just the same.

I tell you one thing though, papa. A part of me is surely going to miss holding him in my arms when he’s older… Perhaps you felt similar when I was growing up way back when…” the letter went on, Vivian proceeding softly down the end of the thought, noticing Hulgrom’s wistful sigh as he sat back in his chair. “I’m sure you can imagine the joy Jeremy’s brought to us, even in these early years. All three of us send our love, papa, and we can’t wait till your visit next year. Till then, be sure to take care of yourself, eat well, and if that lovely Vivian girl is reading this for you, be sure to invite her for tea once in a while because she’s a very hard worker and-” Vivian added with a mischievous smile before the dwarf leaned forward to swipe the letter from her hands.

Ya almost got me there lassy, har har!” he laughed along with the young girl before he eyed the the parting words of the letter. “I thank ya. If ya ever tire of serving drinks at that bar o’ yers, come by anytime.”

While primarily a joke, Vivian still appreciated the offer and agreed to a little refreshment now and again when she next delivers to his home. With a cordial wave and a tip of her hat, she’d return to her route, but waited until she was out of sight before hurrying along. She had some ground to make up.

The guildmaster didn’t seem overly fazed one way or another, though Meche could certainly tell that he was giving the proposal some thought, and if he had any major objection to the grounds she was basing her offer on, he’d likely have been quick to point them out. But as it stood, Rowan would sit back in his chair, arms folded as he decided on how to approach this. “I agree that you have your work cut out for you. But just so you know, I hadn’t planned on seeing the guild become involved in anything more than the job requests that may have come up over this monster outbreak. Satiating a group of squabbling vendors is one thing, but I’m not about to stretch the purview of this establishment just so some indecisive watchdogs can save face,” he said prior to a reflective glance to the side.

But if you want to talk about what’s practical…” he’d immediately continue, his eyes darting back to the woman. “While some might look at us as being a readily available source of manpower, I feel it necessary to remind you that these are largely freelancers you’re talking about working with. Among other things that should be obvious, you can’t expect them to agree to this unless you have the money to make it worth their while. And judging by how dangerous the scope of this mission of yours is… let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if your people have some arrangements to make.

In essence, the guildmaster wasn’t saying no, but he was saying cooperation came with certain conditions, though of course the finer details could be sorted out at a later date, such as when actually writing up the contract for this task force. The crux of Rowan’s case however, seemed to center around agreeable wages and supplies for all members of this potential group. It was an understandable enough concern, but at the same time, as Meche had so readily revealed to him, funds and resources could potentially be an issue moving forward. The guild itself had its own revenue streams to fund its current operations, but as it stood there were not shortage of strings tied to those finances, meaning it was hardly in a position to pay for this new endeavor either.

Rowan would admit as much if it came down to it. If this really was going to be a problem though, securing more money for either the guild, the guard or the task force directly was always an option. In his opinion, he wagered the honorable village guard had the better chance of successfully reaching out for a sponsorship of sorts. Keep in mind that there’s plenty of money tied to the upcoming trade festival, and there should by all means be some people willing to pour money into such a noble and business-savvy cause.

I’m not about to call off tomorrow’s hunting party. If you want to give this ‘task force’ of yours a test run, then by all means send as many or as few guards as you want,” Rowan mentioned, subtly curious as to how the ratio between the two groups would turn out in that case.
I'll keep an eye on this as well.
Hello there. I was just about to leave off for the day, and I certainly won't be back for a while, but if I may say something real quick: Looks to me that, if you don't have a group or solid plan for your RP, then it might be advantageous for you to either start an interest check thread in here, or an open discussion thread over here. Sorry for being a bother. I'm sure in those areas, you're bound to get the attention you want. Hopefully it all works out for you.
Time seems right to unveil the character I had in mind for a while. I hope you guys won't mind the extra elfling. She'll probably be delivering mail to an establishment near you. I haven't decided where to start her off, so if anyone wants to sway me one way or another, go ahead and tell me.

I also took some liberties in the skills section, as I intend for her to improve as time goes on, depending on how the RP itself goes. Hope that's okay.

While Mr. Cullen took Kumiko’s jab at the merchants with his usual bit of indecorous laughter, Rowan would unsurprisingly find her insistence towards forcing them out the old fashioned way to be altogether less amusing, a small groan when she mentioned it the second time. “You made the right call this time, but don’t let it go to your head. If nothing else, I expect you to tell the difference between people who can be reasoned with, and troublemakers who won’t listen unless you make them listen,” he admonished, by now knowing just what she’s capable of when it comes to the foolish and disorderly who find their way to the guild on occasion.

The guildmaster would immediately hold up his hand to keep either of them from interrupting him before he continued. “Even so, I can’t blame you for getting restless. Once all this pest control is over and done with, I’ll see about wrangling up a job worth loaning your expertise to,” Rowan conceded a tad, his expression letting her know he was both genuine and at the same time not about to budge further than that.

To her quip just before she moved for the door, Mr. Cullen would smile widely and raise his coffee mug appreciatively. “Not a problem, my dear. I’m never so busy that I can’t make time for you, (chuckles),” he jested before taking a big swig.

After Kumiko opened the door to leave, there’d be an assistant who’d peek his head in and address the guildmaster. “Um, sir? There's a guard representative here. I believe she’s here to see you.”

Rowan would languidly lift himself to his feet at that, picking up the complaints and other paperwork in either arm. “Only the one, huh? Suppose my time in here is at an end regardless,” he said, making sure Isaac was following his lead. Far be it from him to let the old man take up a whole room by himself.

In mere moments, the Guildmaster would emerge from the room, handing off the clipboard and documents to the aforementioned assistant before stepping toward the tables of the second story balcony, the pile of merchant demands still under under his arm when he recognized Meche’s uniform and approached. “If you’re here, I doubt it’s for the coffee. If it’s a private meeting you’re after, step into my office... though I suggest you make this quick,” the spoke frankly, taking to the usual drill when dealing with official village correspondence.

Prior to leading the officer to his office, he’d turn to Kumiko one more time if she was nearby. “Looks like I’ll be preoccupied for the time being. See to it that we’re not disturbed... in as civilly a manner as possible, if it isn’t too much trouble,” he suggested with a wary lift of his eyebrow.

Lowering his hand into the pouch at his waist would produce a rather garish gold key, with which he’d unlock the broad ornate double doors which unmistakably distinguished his office. Rowan patiently opened one of the doors for the woman, after which he himself proceeded inside, slamming the door shut before Isaac could weasel his way in. “Drat…!

Don’t mind that. Have a seat and say what you came here to say,” the man told Meche in reference to one of the two chairs standing in front of a large desk. Behind it was a more distinguished armchair, one that Rowan sat down on before lowering his elbows on his work station, the new stack of papers being set to the side. His hands calmly folding together as he listened to her state her business.
@LiverisGood
Sounds about right. I reckon it's something I'll start giving my full attention towards as the deadline draws near if I'm honest, keeping in mind that I'd like a count of all players that wish to take part. I feel it kinda early to expect people to line up so soon in the RP, not everyone has even had a chance to post yet.

That said, I wouldn't want to push things back that much. If someone hasn't shown interest soon after learning about it, I doubt that would change much weeks down the line.

Perhaps what I will do, given how I wouldn't want to inconvenience people by demanding they write out in detail their characters arriving at the guild to sign up for the quest, is just require them to tell me OOC, or a PM here or on discord that they're interested. The cut off date will probably be by the end of next week. That way I'll know who's up for it and will be able to prepare accordingly.

In-story, I see the quest having been up a day or so before the IC starts anyway. I might be off about that, but that's my interpretation. That's a convenience for player characters who are already settled in the village. To newly arrived characters who are joining the quest, I would love just a small but clear mention of signing up at the very least. I'm of course not going to hold people to that though.

The room that the two men were in wasn’t that large at all, it being just one of a few private spaces on the second floor meant to allow that little extra privacy among clients and hunters, though they are open to any parties seeking a secluded correspondence… or a guildmaster wanting some level of peace and quiet while he worked, while also having someone like Mr. Cullen to look after.

“Come in, my dear!” answered the gleeful old man as Kumiko made her way inside.

Rowan was taken aback by the stack of papers she brought in, a clearly aggravated sigh upon hearing what they were. “Don’t tell me they came back. I thought they got the message last time,” he said with some exhaustion in his voice, rubbing his eyebrows as his elbow stood against the table. He was clearly not happy to have anyone, least of all Kumiko, dealing with some bothersome traders in his stead.

“Well that’s what you could expect when it comes to merchants. They don’t get far in that business sitting patiently on their thumbs,” Cullen advised, trying to be sagely about it, but he wasn’t exactly trying to hide how happy he was to not be the one in their crosshairs. “They say you should never get between a merchant and a sale… unless you’re another merchant, of course… But then again, they do seem pretty united when it comes to this delay thing, eh?” he rambled a bit with a silly smile, already knowing how little help he was being.

Rowan set his clipboard aside and listlessly started to flip through the stack of complaints as best he could. Kumiko will easily tell from his face that there could be an honest to the gods offer for a generous donation to the guild hall among them and he still wouldn’t care to give them the time of day. Needless to say, there was no such deal in all she had recorded, but Rowan did key in to a sizable group of requests. “Seriously? Not only do they want the monsters cleared out, but some of them also want an escort to the festival itself. They could just hire their own escorts if they’re so scared,” he said with a dry shake of his head.

“Another thing about merchants: They can be very stingy at times,” affirmed the old gentleman, feeling at liberty to say such things because some of his good friends are traders. “Still, well done my dear. I do believe I see a generous bonus in your futuuuure,” he suggested playfully with a toothy grin, leaning over towards Rowan.

Looking to Kumiko, the guildmaster let out a small sigh, one that looked an awful lot like he was stifling a tired yawn. “Yeah, you did good Kumiko, handling that like you did. Burning all of this would be a treat for me to be sure, and once this mess is over, I think I’ll do just that. Might as well have something to look forward to…
@13org Perhaps I will post it then anyway. For all I know, Liver won't mind waiting. I could always edit the post afterwords.
@LiverisGood I imagine welcomes are in order. I noticed your CS doesn't have a "Point of Interest" but that's understandable given that they're new and all the locations affiliated with your character can be found in your description. And if the GMs gave you the okay, then I guess I'm fine as well.

@13org My response is very much done and I was just about to post before our visitor arrived. I can post it as is, or I can add to it, if you would prefer.
