@Apokalipse, I like her as well. The rich, but smart, woman who will become like everyone else in the matter of days. Accepted. II hope she's able to treat her POS during the times of hell...

It has been two weeks since Theodore Ochoa had returned from Panama. He was sent there by his business to investigate in possible locations for their office. The business was well-known in Central America and parts of Mexico for their help in improving the lives of millions of low-income civilians. The management of the company, Driftonic Tech, wanted to build an office within one of the Central American countries. The company was founded by a German woman named Elena Dietrich back in 2010. She made the company famous back in 2017, where they aided in the Mexican earthquake by providing free solar panels to millions. After that, Driftonic Tech and their solar panels sold like crazy all over Mexico and Central America. They decided to set their other office in Panama and sent Theodore there.

It only took him two weeks before finding the perfect location. Panama City didn’t have any good locations and their office lots were too small for the tech company. Then, he went to Tocumen next for the perfect office building. During the trip, he found an office lot for sale in the downtown area. He contacted the management and sent the location before heading back to the states. They told him to call them once he found the “perfect lot” and give them all of the information about the buyer and the location. After that, he went back to Panama City and took the plane ride home.

During the several hour plane ride, he developed a cough out of nowhere. A stranger offered him some coughing drops and Theodore took it. He and the stranger thought that he just had the common cold. The coughing stopped for the remaining plane ride and his walk to his car. Then, it came back more violently. That was when that he started to cough up blood. He was scared more than ever. He debated whether or not to go to one of the hospitals; but, he decided that he would take the ferry back to Bainbridge Island. He had a fear of hospitals since the outbreak in the late 2010s.

The ferry ride from Seattle to Bainbridge took thirty five minutes as usual. This wasn’t his first trip out of Washington, but it was the first time that he suddenly developed an unusual cold. It got worse during the ride and people on the ferry began to notice that. Suddenly, a woman walked up to him with some cold medicine. She said that she always keeps one for her five children. He accepted the medicine and took some of it before handing the bottle back to the mother. She walked back to her car and children. It helped him for the remaining boat ride and the drive out of the downtown area.

Once his car got out of downtown, he began to sweat as he got to the suburbs. Theodore became confused and tired as he couldn’t look forward. His head kept going down as he tried to make it stay straight. The coughing got worse as he entered the street where he lived and he started to get a fever. He parked his car in the driveway and got out of it as he slammed the door close. The keys to the house were on his hands as he went to unlock the door. He entered the house and closed the door behind him. He climbed the stairs up and dropped his suitcase about halfway up.

Once Theodore was on the second floor of his house, he rushed towards his bedroom as he saw his bed for the first time in two weeks. He’d thought that with some rest that he could easily get better. If not, he would just call work and tell them that he was taking a sick day. He thought that he was going to rest tomorrow and get better. He thought all of it as he collapsed onto the bed and passed out.

𝐓𝐖𝐎 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑

One of Baltham Police Force’s police cars stopped in front of the home. It was the standard green and white police car that you’d see in a small town somewhere in the forests. An officer exited out of the car without his police uniform. His friend, Benjamin Dunnings, soon stepped out of the car and looked at the house. “You sure about this, mate?” the officer asked again.

“Yes.” he answered, “He hasn’t been seen outside of his home in a day. I am worried and you should be too.”

One of Theodore’s neighbors called Benjamin and told him of the situation. It had been almost a day since he returned home during the night. His car was parked at the driveway, but no-one saw him. Benjamin told Officer Callum Lewis of Theodore’s absence from the outside world. He told Benjamin that he would use his lunch break to go to the house to calm Benjamin down; but, he believed that everyone’s taking it too far.

“Come on, Ben, we aren’t his parents.” Officer Callum jested towards his other friend.

“You should be also concerned for him!” he snapped. Benjamin usually didn’t snap or get annoyed that easily, but Officer Callum often does that to him. He breathed before he said anything that he would regret and apologized. The officer forgave him and ensured that he cared for his other friend. He knew how much Benjamin cared for his close friends. The pair of friends walked up to the door, knocked on it, and waited for some sort of response.

Benjamin grabbed the doorknob and twisted it as the door opened. “Theodore?” Benjamin called out his friend’s name for some kind of response. He didn’t hear anything for his friend or his dog, Wrex. Callum started to feel unease about the silence and looked at the stairs to his bedroom and soon saw his suitcase. He didn’t bothered to pick it as he looked at it for a few seconds. Benjamin looked at the stairs and started to climb it.

He stopped for a moment as he heard chewing sounds. “Theodore?” he asked once more as he got to the top and slowly walked towards the bedroom door. Callum went towards the living room for a bit to look around for any clues. He didn’t find anything that stood out in his eyes, but he then saw a picture of Theo, his son, and his ex-wife. Theodore married to his college sweetheart during their graduation ceremony. The marriage only last for six years as the stress of having a kid was too much for them. Now, Theodore and his ex-wife have to share custody of their son.

He kept looking at the picture until he heard Benjamin calling out Callum’s name. He walked away from the picture and headed for the second floor. Ben was getting ready to open the bedroom door, but he still heard the chewing sounds. Ben opened the door as soon as Callum got near him and saw Theodore kneeling on the ground. He was eating something as Benjamin got closed and called out, “Theodore..?”

Theodore dropped the thing that he was eating and turned towards them, revealing his bloody mouth. Benjamin looked worried as he ran towards Theodore to check out his mouth. He kneeled down to get a closer look. His head turned towards Callum as he said, “Oh God, call an ambulance.”

Benjamin couldn’t finish the sentence as Theodore bit into Benjamin’s neck. He yelled as his friend was biting his neck while Callum rushed towards them. Callum grabbed his upper chest and managed for him to stop biting Ben’s neck. A piece of fresh from his neck fell near him as Ben crawled backwards from the two men. Theodore’s mouth was more bloody as Callum shoved him towards the bathtub in the bathroom. He tripped over the dead dog and fell into the tub. Since there wasn’t a bathroom door, Callum rushed towards to Ben and check if he was alright.

Ben was in shock as he held on the bite mark on his neck with his hands. Callum decided to get Ben to his police car and call for help. He lift Ben up as he heard sounds coming from the bathroom. They decided to not stick around as the pair left the bedroom and carefully walked down the stairs. When they were almost at the first floor, Callum saw that Theodore managed to get out of the bathroom and bedroom. He began to walk faster towards them, but he forgot about the stairs as he lost his footing and started to fall down to the first level.

Callum saw Theodore falling down the stairs and took Ben outside before he fell onto the floor. They raced towards the cop car and Callum set Benjamin down by the car. Ben was still crying out in pain as he held on the bite mark. Neighbors began to gather nearby the police car and wanted to help the man out. Some went inside their homes to call for help. Others stayed outside to record the whole thing. Callum didn’t care for the gathering as he went into his car and looked for his pistol and the first aid kit.

He first found the first aid kit and placed it on top of the car. Then, he reached for his gun and saw Theodore at the front door. He quickly grabbed it, closed the car door, and rushed towards Benjamin. He raised the palm of his hand as the other hand held onto the pistol. “Stop moving!” he shouted at his best friend. Theodore kept moving forward.

“Stop it, goddammnit!” he shouted once more. But, Theodore didn’t listen as he kept moving.

“I gave you several warnings to stop!” he declared, “I am sorry...friend..”

With both hands on the pistol, he aimed it at the chest of his friend and fired once. That would of sent someone to the ground, but Theodore wasn't on the ground. It only sent him backwards before pausing for a moment and then walking forward once more. Confused and shocked as his friend didn’t go down right away, he fired a second time. The same thing happened again. The crowd, that had formed earlier, ran away from the scene as gunfire rang out.

Callum didn’t understand what was happening as his friend should of died. He aimed his gun for Theodore’s head and fired it as he quickly closed his eyes. The third shot had finally killed his friend as he fell backwards towards the ground. The officer turned away from the body as he opened his eyes and placed the gun nearby the first aid kit. ‘Fuck’ was the first word that he said since killing his best friend. He breathed slowly to control his emotions and grabbed the first aid kit.

Benjamin was speechless as he saw his best friend killed by his other friend. He kept putting pressure on the bite mark, so he won’t lose anymore blood that he already did. Callum placed the first aid kit nearby him and started to work on the bite mark. He was still working on the bite mark as the ambulance and more police cars arrived at the scene. He didn't want to kill his best friend, but he had to protect his friend and the large crowd. It was his job after all.

Jack is a British-American man that was originally born in New York City. He’s the shortest person in his family with his 5’5 height and he can be often mistaken as a teenager. Despite his small height, he only weighs around 136.3 lb. That’s because he would often go on a run each morning and go to the gym, if he isn’t working on his job. He got his mother’s hazel eyes and his father’s black hair.

Often enough, he would most wear dark color clothes. He doesn’t go anywhere without his jacket no matter the weather. He also takes his beanie with him as well. He only wears jeans and casual t-shirts to places besides work. At work, he wears the white collared t-shirt with the dress pants and shoes. And he also has to wear the store’s dark blue apron. Jack doesn’t like the work outfit, but he only has to wear it on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Jack is an interesting person to hang out with, even if he denies it. He would spend time worrying about the smallest thing, even if it isn't that big of a deal. Many would think that he has some sort of OCD, but he doesn't. It's just apart of him that he had since he was a child. His few friends love him for his charm and humor. Jack can lift someone's spirits up in the matter of seconds. He cares for others that are in pain, but he knows the limits. Reality is apart of him and he think things that are harsh to others. His brother hated that about Jack while he was living with him.

Work in Progress.

𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝
Jack Elliott was born and raised in Baltham with his other brother, Ivan. His mother worked at the Sweet Bay Hotel and his father was busy getting his masters in the University of Washington. They weren't the richest people in town, but they have been here for a long time. His mother worked at the hotel for several years since it's opening and his father had been attending the local community college. He was accepted into the university. His father wasn't around for only two years of his life and that was because of the university.

After graduating, he spent more time with his two sons for years before he had to work again. He became a war correspondent for the Washington Post. Jack knew that he also wanted to become a journalist as well and started to write 'stories' on his everyday life. When he was thirteen years old, his father went to the Middle East to cover the Invasion of Iraq. He was mistaken by U.S. forces as a threat and opened fire at him, killing him in seconds. His wife was upset by the death of her husband. Ivan and Jack were also upset by their father's death as well.

She claimed that her husband's death was unjustified, but she couldn't do anything about it. Jack kept pursuing his dreams of becoming a journalist. He graduated for high school at the age of seventeen and attended the University of Washington. Ivan couldn't stand living in the same town and moved to California with his lover. His mother died of natural causes, but Jack said that she still had a broken heart about her husband's death. Regardless, he did his four years required in order to become a journalist and graduate as well.

During that time, he met with a tattoo artist during his twenty-first birthday. Valerie Alvez was a hard person to read at first, but she became a good friend to Jack. He worked with the Washington Post for six years before leaving them and becoming freelance. Now, he often works at a local store as a clerk and does his freelance journalist stuff often enough. Since he found out that Valerie was a freelance writer, they often worked together on interesting stories.

20, September 2016 ➤➤➤ We have ourselves a channel on the guild's Discord! Go to this link for more fun and a chance to talk to me! No account needed at all!
21, September 2016 ➤➤➤ Since there's enough people to start an OOC, I will give until Thursday before I read the results. During that time, there should be more people interested as well. I will be at college all day today, besides a two hour break (ten to noon) and a three hour break (three to six). I go to college only on Mondays and Wednesdays, meaning that I only should miss two days on here. But, I will try to be on the Discord chat as much as I can be. I can't wait until I roleplay with you guys.
The Results Are Here! ➤➤➤ Alright, here are the results on the options that I offered. Most of you have voted for the "don't care" option on both the virus and the writing level. You guys can check it and see if it's right or not. If it isn't, then please tell me as soon as possible and I will fix it. They aren't official until I make sure that everyone has seen it and told me that it's right. If you voted for the "don't care" option and have changed your mind, then please tell me as well and I will change it. I will be on here for the entire day for the five usual days.
22, September 2016 ➤➤➤ Alright, I have time to read the results and I think that it's good enough. We are going to pick out the zombified virus because it had more votes than the non-zombified virus. As for writing style, we are going to do advanced. I trust that y'all can post at least three or more paragraphs per post. I will not strictly uphold the standards on Advanced, because I believe that you guys can make posts without too much grammar errors and spelling mistakes. I hope that you understand that and have an open mind.
22, September 2016 ➤➤➤ As you guys can finally tell, the introduction has been posted! I hope that you guys have fun as much as I did!

I have to give a huge shout-out to Buddha for finding these characters. I have used them to make this interested check and I just want to thank him for that. I also want to give credit to the creators of Containment, Quarantine, REC, The Division, and The Walking Dead. Without them, none of this could be possible.

Humanity has been living in their comfortable lifestyle in a world that has become overly dependent on technology. That's a problem. Bacterias and viruses are adapting to our antibiotics a lot faster than the scientists expected. United States of America and her allies knew that there was a possible that a deadlier outbreak was going to happen after the Ebola Outbreak. Hundreds of peoples were infected in America and thousands more in West Africa. The citizens were in panic mode as they quickly turned on their loved ones over little disputes. Then, the CDC developed a treatment for the virus and the citizens calmed down. Government officials were worried about a major outbreak hitting America. A presidential directive was quietly signed into law in response to this possibility. It maps out the government's response to a national crisis, like the Ebola Outbreak. It's known as Directive 18.

The US Military began several programs to look for signs in someone if they would inflected. Hospitals updated their equipment to combat against emergency capacity issues. And the CDC issued preparedness messages to watch for signs if they are inflected. It had been seven years since the Ebola Outbreak dominated televisions all over the world. It has faced several other outbreaks and epidemics during the years; but, the world knew what to do. What if the world was introduced to a different kind of virus? A virus that can get someone sick and kill them? What if they come back from the dead? The governments of the world don't know how to answer those questions other than to contain the situation.

In the city of Baltham, a business man that just returned for Central America hasn't been outside of his home since he came back about a day ago. Neighbors said that always see the man every morning, going over his friend's house across the street. His friend decided to call his friend, who is a police officer, and told him of the situation. They decided to go over together once the officer takes his usual lunch break to see their pal. This is where our story starts.

𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐌 𝐁𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐆𝐄 𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃
Baltham, Washington was founded two days after the state had become the 42nd state on November 11, 1889. The city is apart of the Bainbridge Island metropolitan area, which has a population of 130,000. Bainbridge Island has 304,000. The increased in population landed in the second largest city in Washington, beating Spokanea. Baltham was named the fourth-best place to live in the United States in 2020. Both cities are becoming an increasingly affluent bedroom community of Seattle, a 35-minute ride away on the Washington State Ferries. Tourists often found themselves spending time at the island and the city used that to make a profit. They spend more time at Baltham than Bainbridge Island.

Baltham is home to the headquarters of many small and large businesses, many of which are technology companies that started in the 1990s. The city has numerous thriving commercial districts, including one shopping center: Zemreaft Mall. It has one small hotel located in the middle of Baltham and Bainbridge called, Sweet Bay Hotel; Bainbridge has three hotels. Myriad development of major retail, residential, and revitalization projects are amidst planning, in construction, or have been successfully executed in both cities. The growth has resulted in the city council to start construction on a waterfront boardwalk and marina in the late 1990s. The boardwalk was just finished a couple months ago and it expends to both cities' coastlines. A waterfront multimodal bus/ferry terminal soon opened in 2002 and allowed people to travel to Settle in thirty-five minutes.

Both cities are continuing to grow still as more people moved away from small town to large cities. It's expected that in five years, Baltham will reach 200,000 and Bainbridge Island will hit 350,000. The cities also have set a high standard for other cities in America to follow in health and cleanliness. There are five different hospitals in the city and they are capable of handling any outbreak that happens. Bainbridge is currently the healthiest city in America, following by Baltham and Dallas.

𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆
In ISOLATE, the world has learned how deadly viruses can be if left alone. The United States of America combated it by reminding people of the possible risks of another 'Spanish Flu' or another 'Black Plague'. In secret, the president signed a presidential directive into law without the general public knowing. The directive, Directive 18, gives orders for the several government-run departments and the military on what they should do during an outbreak. The public doesn't know about this directive at all. The cities of Baltham and Bainbridge Island is where this new and deadly virus is going to get it's start. A businessman comes home after spending two weeks in Central America for work. He went into his home and hasn't been out for a day. This is where our new virus is going to play out: a zombified virus.

In REC, we get to see everyday civilians that live in an apartment deal with this virus that turns their neighbors into cannibals. No-one knows what zombies are, just like in The Walking Dead, and they don't know what to do at first. It would be a day or two until the Washington State government reacts to the outbreak and soon issues a state of emergency. Then, the US government will also react by sending aid and troops to the state and the cities affected by the virus. However, the hospitals will soon become filled with inflected people and things will turn for the worst. Our characters will react to the whole situation from the first day. They will be changed into a different person or try to stay the same. They have to watch out of the inflected and other humans or stop living (That's the zombified virus.).

  • No metagaming, powergaming, godmodding, mary/gary-sueing or anything silly like that.
  • If you do something stupid, then expect consequences that could kill your character.
  • Since this is a modern day apocalyptic survival roleplay, realism is a must.
  • Romance is okay, but if it goes beyond a kiss take it to PM or off guild (Guild rules).
  • In interactions with large groups of people, if not using a collab, work a posting order out among yourselves so that you can all enjoy it and nobody gets left behind.
  • Don't make super long collabs.
  • Have fun. :>
  • NPCs are allowed as well. They can be killed off by everyone as long as it reasonable.
  • Once you have a bite mark, you're fucked. You will turn into a zombie, no matter what you do.
  • In ISOLATE, no-one knows what are zombies. So, your characters and NPCs better not say that word.
  • Remember, the quickest way to kill a zombie is to damage/destroy the head.

Do you want to add something to Baltham & Bainbridge Island? Do you feel like there should be more to the plot? Should I lighten up the front? Well, you can suggest something about how to make ISOLATE a better roleplay. Just post it on the many interested checks or private message me and I will take a look at it. If the people feel like that would be a great addition, then I will add it and mention you! There are some ideas that I will reject and don't feel down about. You can still post suggestions to me at anytime without paying any fees! I am the kind of person that will consider your ideas and look into it, so feel free to share your ideas!
@Buddha, I already like Artyom for the moment that I saw his picture. You're accepted. I hope that his time as a dock-yard worker prove to be useful...

@SouffleGirl123, I like the wild and rebellious teenager as well and I think that she'd fit perfectly. Accepted. I hope that she matures up or she will put the ones that she cares for in risk...

@HaleyTheRandom, the resourceful woman that lost her husband. Interesting character to have live in this world that's about to turn into hell. Accepted. I think that she's willing to protect Emily no matter the consequences.

@Core, the young, strong-will, and kind person will also be interesting. The only thing that I want to see is just more paragraphs on the history section. You can mention how she came to be willing to put herself in danger. It doesn't have to be an essay, but maybe just one or two more paragraphs. Other than that, everything else looks great.

@JackalopeLove, the workaholic radio personality is something interesting as well. Accepted. I hope that she's willing to give up that dream job and accept the new world that's coming her way...

The introduction post is finished, but my character isn't as I have to finish up the personality and history. Regardless, the OOC will be up tonight or later on the day. I have to add in a couple additional rules.
@Buddha, yeah. Once I have posted the OOC, you guys will post your accepted characters on the character sheet tab.
@Buddha, this will answer all of your questions:

I will post the thread once I finish up the introduction and one people have posted their characters. So, it will most likely be posted tonight or tomorrow.
