@MagusMorgant The CORE gives abilities to those who come in direct combat with it, along with the people who don't. It can tap into a person's prana flow and give them abilities without them realizing it. However, the ones who have come in contact with the CORE are Imperial soldiers and those are stronger than the common magus.
It has been two hundred years since Alexander Farrow I released magic back into the world. Along with Fafnir, the Mooneater, he has taken over much of the population.
Laird Xander Farrow II sits upon his throne in New York City. As it has been for the last two centuries, he and his men are plump and well taken care of, while those below their boots fester and die in the Lower City. Vicious creatures lurk in the alleys and in the sewers, even in the men and women themselves. Illegal activity runs rampant in the Lower City, as well. Though, all the Imperial forces care about is that the people don't get in Laird Farrow's way. Unfortunately for them, a group known as the Resistance is slowly gathering momentum in the Lower City's ghettos. The Resistance strives to tear humanity from the Imperial's iron grasp, one way or another. There is only one thing on the Imperials' and Resistance's minds-- war.
- The reason that this roleplay is to be 18+ is because of the mention and reference of specific topics, such as: disease, starvation, drug use, prostitution, and other adult themes. There will be violence and death. However, as I abide to RPG rules, if you need to fade-to-black or use a skip, please do so.
- What you have read above is not the full lore. I have a document that provides the entirety of the lore. Some things may be omitted in the RP, while some things may be added. I have only linked it here so interested players can start thinking about their characters and asking questions. Of course, I will not add the whole document to actual OP. It'll be much fancier-looking, I promise.
- There will be a magic system in place. It is listed in the google doc above. However, I may implement a new type of magic called Illusion, which allows magic users to "charm" or influence people in a variety of ways. Kind of like Jedi mind tricks.
- There will be four races in the roleplay. Two will be playable in the beginning (humans and sidhe) while another one may open up later down the road.
- Players will be able to make characters on both the Imperial side and on the Resistance side. If you wanna make a baddie, go ahead!
- Players will each start with 3-4 side character slots. Side character slots are used in an interesting way. Let's say that you have two characters already, but both of them know/interact/butt heads/etc with other characters quite regularly. These characters are important, but unfortunately they are not as important as the characters whom you have filled out sheets for. Maybe they will become important later on, who knows. Either way, players will be able to create 3-4 side characters which they can use. Think of them as actual characters who you don't have to fill out sheets for. You may decide that you want them to become major characters later on, but if you do wish for that to happen, then you must eventually fill out a sheet.
- Please, please, please be active in the RP: this means be active in IC, OOC, Discord, or whatever else comes along your way. - I will only be accepting six to seven people, not including me. Order of interest does not apply. I will be looking through post history to see who are the best candidates. - I do not want to hear "maybe I'll join"; you join or not. This is because it has caused issues with me seeing how many people we have in the roleplay. - I do not want to see "cute" characters, i.e "lolis" or "traps". - Again, this is high-casual. We're not asking for huge posts. We're asking for quality characters and posts (which are at least two to three paragraphs long). - This is an 18+ year old RP. Dark themes such as death, disease, famine, etc will be present. If you're easily triggered, don't join. - If you don't wanna follow these set rules, then there's no point in joinin'; it'll just cause conflict. - I'm going to definitely need co-GMs that can be trusted.
It seemed like whatever this shit-hole Tristan had gotten into, it was only getting deeper and deeper. Emil's reaction did not serve the young lordling right. The farmboy even went so far as to ask him if he was drunk. Such a statement made his face flush with embarrassment. Already the boy was losing his patience. With Emil, with the shit-smelling birds, and with the that thief whose name he kept forgetting. He was going to speak more, but such thief cut him off and pestered him for his poor decision-making skills. Yes, he understood he was an idiot, but--
His temper snapped and he whorled around, grabbing Rylan bu the front of his shirt and pulling him close to his face. "You think you're funny, you damn street rat? I'll make you as dead as a wraith, and drown you as well. Stay your tongue, before I cut--"
Tristan faltered, glancing back at Emil and the other farmhand. He probably wasn't making a good image of himself. Then again, when did he ever? Heaving a sigh, he released his hold on Rylan before speaking again. "Listen. You might think I'm suicidal, or I'm drunk, of I'm an idiot. But in reality, we're all of this things put together if we keep sitting on our asses and waiting 'til something good happens. More and more monsters are breaking through our guards and killing our people. Honestly, what good is fire, iron, steel? We can destroy the smaller monsters. The ones that eat babes and suck blood from cows. But how about the big ones? We need So'que weapons for that!" his voice was rough, desperate. There wasn't a way that he was going to be able to survive out there by himself. And if they didn't want to come, he had to at least make them realize what atrocity it would be if they decided to turn him in to the guard. "I'm giving you an option. You lot can come with me and try to do something, or die here. I've been a nameless noble for my entire life. I rather die trying to save my people rather than die screwing whores and drinking my problems away at an alehouse."
Tristan realized that he might been rambling a bit too much. Nevertheless the angry fire that was burning inside of him had been smothered with his words. He released a short, exasperated breath before gathering his senses once again. "Look-- I don't care if you come with me or not. I'm leaving town come dawn. If you want to accompany me, it'll be great. If not, that's fine. I didn't 'ask' you for a stryx because I don't want word going around that I've ditched town with the Baske sword and a giant bird. All with the help of the Durand boy. Don't you think that's a bad idea?" he paused. "All I need is a place to stay til dawn. Before the city guard switches. If you have it within you to let me stay til then, I'll be in your debt."
