Omega Man — Roleplayer Guild

This is exactly what it sounds/looks like. 2099 and all (most) that comes with that era can wait. Similar to Batman Beyond this RP will take place around 2045-2050. Some modern characters may still be around in this interpretation of the future. Just look at the characters in today’s comics, imagine what age they are, and tack another 25 or 30 years on them. Characters like Wolverine, Hulk, and others with extended lifespans like Thor and Loki would barely be touched by another 25 years. You can create a legacy character, the sons and daughters of some of today’s heroes, an unrelated character taking up the name and/or likeness of another established hero, or even a complete OC cause I’m gonna need a few of those. Here’s the set-up….




The year is 2049. Much has changed over the last several decades. Another technological boom in 2030 saw flying cars, smart homes, mega cities, 3D printers, etc. become the norm. Vibranium was almost everywhere now. In 2034 SHIELD made an attempt to apprehend Victor Von Doom only to discover a Doombot attached to a nuclear bomb. Most of Michigan and Wisconsin was destroyed along with part of Illinois including Chicago. The three Great Lakes of the area (Superior, Michigan, and Huron) now formed simply the ‘Great Lake.’ What’s left of southern Michigan and Detroit is known as the Bad Lands and considered a wasteland with civilians advised to stay out. Rumors of wild Hulk-like creatures spread after multiple drones caught footage of such creatures on multiple occasions. After the death of Nick Fury in the incident, Steve Rogers became the new head of SHIELD. His shield was given to Kamala Khan after she became Captain Marvel after the death of Carol Danvers. Khan’s predecessor gave her life saving civilians trapped aboard a satellite in Earth’s orbit about six months after the nuclear incident. Heroes began to appear fewer and fewer with some settling down to have kids. Privatized law enforcement became a thing in the late 2030’s because of this and some larger mega-cities such as NYC and LA had privatized law enforcement similar to the 2099 era. Public Eye is basically Big Brother. Cameras throughout the cities, douchebag cops on flying cycles with varying degrees of brutality, as well as monitoring the internet and surrounding areas around what’s disguised as mobile device charging stations all come with the Public Eye package. In the year 2040 Hank McCoy, better known as the X-Men’s Beast, reopened the Charles Xavier School for all the right reasons. And in 2048 a new Spiderman hit the scene in NYC after the last Spiderman (Miles Morales) dropped out of Public Eye’s radar years earlier.



Get all that? With me so far? Awesome. The landscape of the Marvel U. is much different. Only gonna have three active teams at the beginning of the RP. The Avengers will still be active with Capt. Marvel/Kamala as the leader/NPC for GM’s. SHIELD will also have agents in the field of the superhuman kind. The X-Men however will operate underground about two miles away from the Xavier’s School located in Westchester, NY. If there is an X-Men it will be solely on the mutant characters to get it going. The idea is a bunch of students found an old training bunker and moonlight as superheroes once in a blue moon. 

As far as the format, this will be sandbox and character interactions are on the players. As for arcs, since *most* of Marvel’s stuff happens in NYC that’s all I plan to focus on with the teams going to other places once in a while. Heroes, villains, OC’s, etc. are all on the table save for a few NPC’s the GM’s will need to use. My primary character will be the new Spiderman. Here’s what I’m looking to recruit to get this thing off the ground. After 3 posts in-game players have the option of a second character. I’m shooting for 10-12 players with a lot of you wanting Secondaries….

Now… if you’re still with me I’m not gonna begin an OOC till at least 7-8 CS’s are accepted. Secondary characters will need their own Sheets, but don’t start working on them till after the OOC/IC is up. The main inspiration for this RP (aside from the really cool Batman Beyond-ish Spidey design in the new PS4 game) are the old sandbox style All Star Marvel RPs, the MC2 universe of comics from Marvel back around the 2000’s, and generally any Marvel What If? Comics featuring alternate futures, as well as movies like Blade Runner, and animated stuff like Batman Beyond and Next Avengers. It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything with Marvel and I’m always prone to using 3rd and 4th stringers half of you have never heard of. This time though I just had to roll with a bigger gun like Spidey but there’s a couple ways I might change my Spiderman up.
