I found out today that the PHO hasn't launched yet. Was this common knowledge among everyone here? Because I've been making references to it, like, every now and then in my posts from the very beginning and assuming my characters were reading on it. I'm stating it here to make sure nobody else makes my mistake. Hah.
Edit: Though, smaller sites and forums with the same purpose exist. Just not PHO, yet. Hah.
... I was worried I'd seem selfish for saying him because I'm, like, the one character who's actually interacted with him, but Amsterdam gave me courage.
@Pyromaniacwolf I did suspect that might be the case, and I'm happy you came and spoke up rather than just vanishing off the face of the earth (permanently). That is alright. I'm very happy to hear that you've been having fun, that means a lot to me. I will allow you back whenever you want to, and because this roleplay currently doesn't need your input we can simply pause you on the lake where you are. Thank you for having been with us. Good luck with any future endeavors.
Still, can I assume that Mia got her Ducklett back so she can have him in any potential future incidents where I use her? He's kinda precious to her. XD
Posting a bit quickly for both of you, because I felt like it.
@Pikmin Eye Nicely posted, the idea behind catching Heatmor checks out. However, Heatmor's numerous levels higher, and while he was distracted enough to be struck, the next Horn Attack would be countered. With this new information, I did feel that I probably should give you the heads up. "That thing is somewhat strong and that's not necessarily going to work", haha.
@Joshua Tamashii Nicely posted. For you, I basically realized the "arriving in Route 5" post was mostly already written, so go about your business. There's a few other people on this route, too, but if you wish you can simply keep going.
There were a couple of Durants homing to Vice Grip at Heatmor, but it turned out the anteater was perfectly equipped to deal with such an attack. An Incinerate fireball was launched, the attack wide-spread and hitting every ant adjacent to Heatmor, taking them out and at the end of it a crowd of burned Durants lay defeated. The Pokémon was admiring its incoming feast when Goldeen’s surge of water encompassed the lone source of light currently in the cavern.
‘Mooooor…’ The creature complained, looking over with tired eyes as Goldeen came in and Horn Attacked-!
Goldeen’s attack struck true, and Heatmor recoiled, waving its clawed arms with surprising speed to wave off the goldfish-Pokémon. However, with this attack, something became apparent…
Heatmor’s level can be estimated to be 15 ± 2
Horn Attack had done damage, but not very much. Heatmor was giving Goldeen and Martin a tired but threatening stare which translated roughly to “really? you wanna do this?”.
While his body was soaked and flames diminished, Heatmor was probably more than capable of dishing out physical attacks as well, if those claws were of any indication.
Lakewatch Town was bustling with happy people calling from different shops around town and people riding over the water, the atmosphere was overall positive around here. Still, yeah, places to go, things to see. Amelia managed to take the canoes to the main landmass, where there were some regular buildings as well, before finally exiting out to Route 5.
Route 5
Just as Stillwood Village is the least visited settlement in Isson, Route 5 is among the least travelled routes on Isson main landmass. The route is a steady incline from Lakewatch Town to Stillwood Village, with some elements of the base of Mt. Chill nearby, the waters of Dragon Lake next to it too, sporadic forest from that surrounding Stillwood Village and some of the plain elements from route 6 as well, along with a very traveller-friendly road makes Route 5 perhaps one of the most naturally stunning routes of Isson. There are no roads for asphalt here, only travellers are explorers seeking or exiting Lakewatch Town for some reason, as well as Pokémon trainers on their journeys.
A peaceful route without any real dangers, it still offers a lot of variation. Walk on the west side by the waters of Dragon Lake to potentially encounter some Pokémon of the lake. Walk by the mountains on the east and perhaps feel some of the radiating cold of the range of Mt. Chill to perhaps see some more mountainous Pokémon or maybe an ice Pokémon that stumbled out of their caves. The route is a bit cold, attributed perhaps best to the proximity to the Frozen Cavern, and it gets colder the closer the mountain you go. Multiple rivers run down from the mountains, part of Mt. Chill that melts, but efficient wooden bridges help passage over. And of course, patches of forest here and there.
The south of Route 5 opens up towards what people call the Vast Plains, or simply Route 6. There parts of the Endless Forest spread out to make things a bit more covered in trees, but as soon as you leave this forest, all you’ll see is plains as far as you can see, and that’d be Route 6. On the other side of the route is the forest that covers Stillwood Village, you need to enter the forest to get to the village. At the middle by the lake is Lakewatch Town, resting a bit above Dragon Lake. And, of course, the passage up to the Frozen Cavern lies up that hill, for those who want to brave the range that leads towards the enclosed and frozen Route 9 on the other side.
… And as one travels Route 5, one might realize that the route’s grass contain many Deerlings walking around, enjoying the relative lack of humans and other dangers. Upon approach of any humans the timid Pokémon are however quick to run and hide in any patches of tall grass or forests they can find. Most of them are pink in color, not really helping them hide anywhere as their spring-form’s really colorful, but closer to the Frozen Cavern there are Deerlings that still haven’t shifted from their winter form.
Pokédex Entry #585 – Deerling, the Season Pokémon. A Pokémon known to live in mountain grass, it changes it’s appearance based on current temperature and humidity, effectively giving it a new form for each season. People used them to foretell the current season. They live in herds and are very timid with other living beings, hiding quickly.
And, also. Every here and there on the route there’s a couple of rather distinct leaves just sticking up at random, sometimes in very odd locations like in the middle of the road or right in the middle of nowhere. These were sleeping Oddishes, the Pokédex could probably point out.
Pokédex Entry #43 – Oddish, the Weed Pokémon. During the day, Oddish finds nutrient-rich soil to sleep in and absorbs, specially preferring cold soil. When touched by the moonlight, it then pulls itself up and starts wandering, spreading its pollen and looking for a new place to sleep. If it is pulled up by an aggressor during the day, it shrieks out loudly.
… So, yeah, it’d find plenty of cold soil on this route next to the Frozen Cavern. Natural Oddish habitat.
So, of course, Amelia can continue her trip along the road towards Route 6. Or she could…
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. While not many, there are still trainers and explorers in the area, mostly trying to get to the next. 4. Talk. You could seek someone out to talk to them, if you want to. 5. Move along. Move along normally, letting any events that may come happen naturally. 6. Hurry along. Intentionally avoid confrontations and try to get safely to the next destination. 7. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 8. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 9. Area Specific: Random House. Uh. There’s an excessively out-of-place red house in the middle of the route, the door standing wide-open. … Want to visit? 10. Familiar Faces: Joshua. The trainer Amelia battled back there can be seen training a Mudkip against some bugs in the grass. Perhaps close to him are potentially Ewan and Erika, which both should still have been there back then when Amelia had her battle. Amelia doesn’t have to have seen them, but she could have. Oh, and then there’s Dawkin in a nearby forest struggling with a Sawsbuck, but Amelia completely missed him back then and wouldn’t recognize him.
Connected areas: Lakewatch Town. Right behind you. Stillwood Village. In the north lies the forest which hides the village, Mt. Strength lying behind it.. Route 6. Vast plains start in the south-east, this route leads towards Raremine Town. Frozen Cavern. After an incline up to the ridge of Mt. Chill, a cavern of ice could guide the way to Route 9 and Cooldome City. Endless Forest. To the south, a dark forest looms. There are no indications as to why you’d ever want to go there.
@Joshua Tamashii Paci-wha-er- *goes and checks* Oh, that place. Er. Not entirely. The place still has proper streets and turns and such. It's just that where the cars would be driving is water instead. The buildings actually stick up from the bottom rather than float on top of the water, it's a place that was built and flooded but instead of people moving elsewhere they just moved up a floor. Er, hm. I'm considering what city in Pokémon I could compare it to-
Actually, yes. Pacifidlog Town, but the buildings stand straight and orderly, and with urban-themed instead of wooden huts. And instead of logs allowing you to cross the water there are strategically placed canoes that you can jump onto that'll ferry you between the buildings, some mechanic making sure there are always canoes available to cross between all buildings so you can't get stuck. That'd be how the mechanics of the town worked if it was in an actual Pokémon game. XD
*went and double-checked Majoras collab thing to see if anyone had typed in it* Nope, okay.
Personally I believe I'm waiting for Broken/Majora in the situation there. If they're involved in a collab I'm not currently aware of it.
Edit: I will mention it is finals week for quite a few, as far as I've heard. That might be a cause. Maybe. I don't know where in the stages of their lives everyone is.
@Pirouette Thank you. I was gripped with a moment of panic when I wrote "she" and then paused with "am I sure that's correct?", and then went up to your little sheets to find nothing about it. Haha.
... I'm afraid I am not going to be taking availability in Black/White into account for Pokémon you may coincidentally encounter/receive. XD
@Pikmin Eye You explain your tactics in a post, along with as many eventualities as you desire to include and in what circumstance you attempt capture. I will then be typing out how the entire battle went, along with consequences. If something goes wrong with your written tactics, then I'll pause the attempt to quick-capture and await your change of tactics. But, should everything go as planned, it might allow you to capture a Pokémon with a single post-exchange.
It's only quick-catch in terms of how many posts we exchange, the battle still takes as long in-game. That's about that.
