The Wards and PRT soldiers made their way back to the tactical response vehicle, leaving behind a broken wreck of a building. The flames still roared with life, but weren't in any danger of spreading. The local fire department was already on the way, and nothing nearby was flammable. Perhaps it was best the whole thing went up in smoke. If the building remained standing, it could serve as an... Unfortunate reminder to the young heroes. A reminder of what had happened. Of what they had lost. At least one of them had a firm grasp on the true horrors that went down, but Decoy had all but given her the order not to speak up. The burden was no doubt a weighty one.

Before leaving, they had to ensure that the location was secure and locked down. A number of PRT vehicles arrived to aid the firefighters, mostly by setting up a perimeter. The sight had attracted a not so insignificant crowd. Civilians tried to get an idea of what was going on, to catch a glimpse of their favorite heroes, but found it was for naught. The Wards were secure in the van, and weren't coming back out. Lieutenant Reynolds had assumed command and ordered they hold their position. So the vehicle began the short, but still painfully slow journey back to PRT headquarters. The teens had been left alone with nothing but their own thoughts, unless they dared to make conversation on the way back. It would have been awkward though, with private Skeetz and Overlook strapped down on a fold out bed table between them.

Once they arrived, the Wards were marched up to the main conference room in order to debrief the mission. Master protocols were in effect, thanks to Lillian's warning, so each Ward was required to provide a predetermined password before entering. Meanwhile, Overlook and Skeetz were brought to the medical bay for treatment of their wounds. Once the teens had taken their seats, they were joined by Director Kens, and one of Decoy's holographic interfaces. Even though Protean had prepped them for the infiltration, he was noticeably absent. That was to be expected, as he had joined Inkscape and Hermes for their own assignment. Apparently it was still ongoing.

The director began to speak, circling around the room with his hands crossed behind his back. His mannerisms made it abundantly clear that the man was quite upset, and while the rage threatened to boil over, he never lost his composure when addressing the Wards. "The preliminary report sent in by Lieutenant Reynolds on your way back has not exactly been inspiring great confidence. What what I can tell, everything that can go wrong, did. The building has been burned to the ground, so we lost all evidence your team had been sent in to secure. One of you suddenly attacked your team. Somehow a noncombatant support analyst wound up in the middle of a firefight, and to make matters worse the villains that are responsible for hospitalizing both Noble and Captain Morales were on site, and got away. We were not expecting the additional party involved, and for that-" Kens paused to glare daggers at the Decoy hologram, which did not react in any manner. "I blame our initial information gathering. But something happened once your team arrived. Make no mistake, none of you are being blamed for anything, but this is a serious loss. Both in terms of law enforcement, and in terms of PR. God knows the Youth Guard will be jumping up my ass for this debacle. So tell me what happened, Wards. Speak up. Margrave? Tulpa? Messiah? I need to hear what you all have to say on this matter."

The Jacks: Double Trouble, Back to Base!

@yoshua171@BCTheEntity@Eklispe@floodtalon@Old Amsterdam

The Chatterbox duplicate laughed at Heartless's question. When he answered, he made sure to keep his power active in full blast. "My friend, why don't I dissolve your suspicions right now by simply admitting that I am the newcomer? The 'second' Chatterbox, the one not native to this... I guess you could call it a reality? Yes, this reality. Your Chatterbox setup that password system specifically to help identify against me, but it wouldn't have done any good if I had decided to play along. We share the same brain, the same memories, diverging only at the exact moment I was brought into existence here on this reality, so naturally I already know the proper response would have been 'Green Fever.'"

He released his Sofia's hand and urged her to open her eyes. The Sofia duplicate seemed to be cautious, but she slowly did so. As this occurred, the original Chatterbox was warning Headhunter of the dangers of his doppelganger. The duplicate narrowed his eyes a bit in frustration as he saw himself speaking with the mercenary. He could tell by the body language what was going on. Not the specifics of course, but he knew that it couldn't have been good for him and his Sofia. "Salutations again, native Chatterbox!" he called out, waving his arm. "If you are having any thoughts of setting up some sort of violent precautions, I should advise against such civil discourse."

To prove his point, the Chatterbox duplicate produced his pack of metal playing cards, completely identical to the ones Drake made use of. He pulled out one of the cards, and, taking a deep breath to brace for the pain, stabbed a metal corner into the back of his wrist. He broke the skin, drawing blood, but it was a shallow cut, nothing to be too bothered by. Yet simultaneously the original Drake Vettman felt a sharp pain in his own wrist. A single glance would tell him everything he needed to know. The injury reflected from the copy and onto him.

"You see, I am completely open about joining forces. My Sofia and I have been displaced from our own cosmos by one of those Overrun clones. As soon as we arrived we were given a mental directive, to kill our duplicates, but as you can see we haven't even attempted such a garish fiasco! That behavior would be unbecoming, would it not? So instead why don't we all go back to the hideout together, yet? Two Chatterboxes and two Whimsys are certainly better than one. The possibilities of expansion are, well, doubled. Wouldn't you agree?" Almost as if he had timed it perfectly, the getaway ride that Chatterbox, the original, had called for pulled in right next to the duplicate. He opened the door to the back and made an exaggerated gesture with his arm. "After you, dear Jacks."
@Lugubrious@Solokolos We're now on day 4 after the deadline warning was given. Unless there are extenuating circumstances going on that you want me to know about, tomorrow is the last day.
The Cereal Killer

@Lugubrious

For the entire duration of their journey, Runch was uncharacteristically quiet. So was Erina, in fact. She had taken an extreme offense to his final comment about her immortality, and as such was giving him the cold shoulder. As long as he didn't address her first, which he did not, she wasn't planning on speaking to him. For so long she lived in constant motion, meeting new people so she never formed permanent attachments, all too aware of the ravages of time. That frightened her, perhaps more than anything else. Becoming attached to things that were so fleeting. It would break her, so she simply chose not to take the chance. This stewed in the kitsune's mind as she bottled it all up. Even Bend knew not to speak to her for the time being, recognizing how infuriated she was.

The pirate wasn't in a much better state of mind. He had taken in and trusted the vampire, Motley Crue, as an associate. Legends spoke of vampires having no souls, or warped evil souls, but this one could walk in daylight and expressed some manner of empathy before. Runch let his trusting, naive nature get the better of him. Motley was truly no better than the soulless abominations spoken of in legend. No. No that wasn't true. He knew it wasn't true. Motley Crue had chosen to do what he had done. Which meant he was in fact capable of great humanity. But humanity was also capable of the greatest evils...

Suddenly the turmoil in the captain's mind melted away as two figures came into sight: one an armored man carrying some sort of polearm, and the other a woman with a single arm. The way the drone was behaving, and the other drone hovering above those two, signified that they were his next opponents. That is, if they were even still fighting in this tournament. The two appeared apprehensive, nothing Runch could blame them for. For all they knew he'd launch some kind of death strike the second he laid eyes on them. He hoped they would be amiable, and so put on his best smile as he approached, one hand out in the open and one hand flipping open two new pages in the Journal...

"Why are you-" Erina cut herself off before finishing her warning. If Runch was going to approach without any tactics or defensive plan, that was his concern, not hers. She was out of the tournament now.

"Going back on your agreement to help him?" Bend asked.

"I'm sure he's got a plan," she lied dismissively. "After all, he ended up beating me and Motley together." The warrior ghost said nothing more on the matter, but didn't buy into her story for a second.

"Ahoy!" Runch called out to the duo. "Allow me to introduce myself! Cap'n Batholomew K. Runch. In my world I am known as the 'Cereal Killer,' with a bounty of 33 million berries!" Erina facepalmed. Seriously? He was walking right up to some guy who looked like a knight, and the first thing he does is loudly proclaim his bounty as a wanted criminal?

"Before we get down to business, I was hoping we could have a civil conversation? Maybe get to know one another? A lot has happened since this contest began, and I was hoping we could compare notes."

The Murder

@Lugubrious

Samuel found himself off put by this man. He seemed to be entirely aware of the graffiti creature, or at least that it was something greater than it appeared to be, but wasn't concerned by it. And what was this he said about having three dozen customers? This wasn't sitting right for him. More concerning was how the man had touched Sam's shoulder without any consent. Still, he wouldn't let an opportunity like this pass itself up. Since the man was in such close proximity, he took it upon himself to snake a hand into the closest pocket and lift whatever object was closest to the surface, whatever was easiest to pull out. A little sleight of hand while the salesman was distracted looking at Sam's face.

"I see. What sort of bargain do you have in mind? I do not even know where I am, much less if the American dollar is a currency you take."
Marque de Bourdeaux

"A lone figure stands between ourselves and the horizon. How quaint." Marque cocked his head as they approached, commenting on the situation. He had nothing else to say on the matter, and desired no further distractions. The time for delay had long since past by. He continued his march forward, and would only address the stranger if spoken to.
How about the one where our macguffin releases a bunch of evil dragons? *Gets booed off stage*
@Leaves@floodtalon@Demon Shinobi@Old Amsterdam@Gardevoiran@BCTheEntity@yoshua171

It’s been 7 days and only Spiffy has posted. Let’s try to rectify this situation. If needed we can get through Reverse Mountain in a big collab, but we have to get mit bing.
@Gardevoiran You know I like the character and we've been discussing her on Discord, but there's at least one thing that's unclear or otherwise needs to be addressed. For instance, we have this:
Kendall cannot absorb tar that is not specific to her power,

soon followed up by this:
she can only manipulate her form to fit within the physical limits of her mass unless she has more tar on hand to work with.

How can she have more tar on hand to work with if she can only use tar made from her body? Either this is some sort of typo or needs to be explained in greater detail. Additionally, there's one important detail in the limitations of her Master ability, which is how the control manifests. Is it psychic? Verbal? Something else? How does she issue commands to those under her thrall?

Lastly, history looks good for the most part except for the very end. There's no "full up" on Wards from an in universe position. The limit is a completely arbitrary one chosen by me for storyline and gameplay balance, so you'll need a different reason for not joining hte Wards for the time being. Maybe a corporation approached her and made a decent offer to sponsor her as a hero, or she's scared of the government having so much control of her life, or something else entirely, but it would never be because "we're full up on Wards, check back later."

As long as these things are addressed and corrected, you'll be all set. Also, just to be certain, you were dropping Overlook as an NPC to make room for her, right? I'm a bit surprised you didn't want to drop Kyoshi actually, but it's whatever you'd like.

@LemonZest1337 I'd recommend giving it a thorough proofread, as there are a number of spelling and grammatical errors throughout the entire CS. That said, it's not so bad that I would even consider denying it, just something to watch out for in the future. I notice that she only has two skills, which aren't related to fighting in any way. That's perfectly fine, as her powers more than make up for any lack of skill. I imagine all she ever needs to do is just throw her weight around and clumsily smash stuff. But if she got boxing lessons? Hoo boy, that's when you watch out! Her strength is... Incredible. Quite absurd. However I am ok with it being as it is since it's just raw strength, and no additional abilities like anchoring herself or objects that she's trying to lift. At the end of the day, she is accepted. Just keep in mind that as a Case 53, she doesn't really have access to a "secret identity" or a normal life, her powers put her on the short list for a "kill order," and heads will roll if its discovered that she's the one who broke her husband so thoroughly. Go ahead and bring her on over to the Character tab.
Lies. Lies and slander.
@Omega Man So the other 3 CSes you didn’t address at all just... don’t exist? Or are they not approved? Because you didn’t say anything about them one way or the other and nobody else has shown interest in this game in over a week.
