as a patreon reward I will read your least favorite person's handmade custom tabletop RPG homebrew and ask them why they didn't just run it in 5e instead

I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Iraleth Kyrios

She heard him before she saw him. Some foolish boy, relying on an artifact he couldn't control. Part of his Ethos? Or just some sort of magical relic? Either way, it didn't matter to her. With a sigh, Iraleth temporarily dismissed her shield, raising her now-freed left arm to prepare to catch her prospective fellow student...

Only for him to be grasped by shadowy tentacles. Iraleth's combat instincts kicked in as she whirled around at the obvious display of dark magics, her shield immediately materializing back onto the Inheritor's armor. The tentacles traced back to...a figure that vanished into shadow? Only slightly less confusing was the boy flying straight now directly under her. Was the caster...trying to help? Iraleth frowned beneath her helm, letting the flying boy go. Whatever was going on, she didn't trust it. But even the most delusional Umbralist leftover wouldn't have been stupid enough to expose themselves like that for the sake of another. Something to look into later.

For now, Iraleth prepared to descend and make her way down towards the Academy proper, but something in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Back towards the bridge, student after student was collapsing in front of some pink figure. As she closed in to investigate, Iraleth caught further details. A fellow half-elf, in a frilly pink abomination of a dress. Her touch aging and withering. Arrogant boasting. With a snarl, Iraleth flew full-speed down towards her target, intent on teaching her a lesson. Some small voice in the back of her head reminded her of the entrance test, but the rest of herself ruthlessly quashed it. This girl was needlessly endangering her fellows. For what? A spot at the Academy? Disgusting.

"CEASE." Her voice boomed as she slammed down into a landing at the foot of the bridge, some distance away from the other half-elf. Iraleth raised her sword, pointing the tip towards the girl, her aura in full effect.

"For your own sake, I hope whatever your Ethos did to these people can be reversed. Do so, or face judgement."
Renar Hagen

Between the combined efforts of himself and Sir Fleuri, the Curse Abomination they assaulted fell in short order, its magically-mutated form unable to sustain mortal injury. As soon as he was satisfied that the beast was truly dead, Renar yanked his poleaxe out from its skull, giving Fleuri a brief incline of his head in acknowledgement, though not without a brief barb.

"You truly can't help yourself when it comes to mounting a monster, can you?" He jibed, flicking the blood and cursed viscera from his weapon with a brief twirl of the haft. "In any case, one down. Three to go." His helmeted gaze swept over the field for the moment, stopping briefly at Captain Fanilly's efforts in possibly felling another soon. "Perhaps two."

Renar hefted his poleaxe up, eyeing the available distribution of forces on the field, as well as the remaining abominations.

"We ought to divide our efforts, now that we know for certain how to fell these. Rally a contingent to emulate what we just did for one, and I'll do the same for the other."

@Crimson Paladin
Probably a good thing for everyone that Iraleth isn't involved to instantly drop the entire race to focus on axe murdering the psychopath turning people into prunes.
@VitaVitaAR

Two questions real quick:

1. Is EINHERJAR supposed to be just a mercenary company, or a regulatory agency/guild for mercenaries in general?

2. About how many years into the war did AAs start getting deployed?
Jaromir Zhu

And there was the kicker. A light lance, coming in hot from the east. Thankfully, the commander had the presence of mind to take most of the LRM barrage on his Centurion's shield arm. Judging by the tac read out, it had to have been the Javelin that fired it. While the boss was right in that it shouldn't have too many barrages left, another round of LRM fire would be trouble.

Even as Jaromir manuevered his Trebuchet towards his newly assigned position, he kept an eye on the field to see who was engaging what. The Jenner and the Locusts were being engaged, with the former in question getting cooked. Problem was that all three of those were a bit too close in range for either of his main guns to be effective. Fine, he'd deal with the LRM launcher, then. Jaromir sighted the Javelin in question a good ways across the field. A bit far for the armaments on most of his lance's guns, but just comfortably within medium range for his PPC and autocannon.

Drawing a bead on the enemy Mech meant leaving the relative cover of the valley, and Jaromir had his Trenchbucket step out with some reluctance on his part. Hopefully, the others were dealing with the three remaining mechs enough that the Locusts wouldn't get on his ass. Still, he sighted up the Right Torso specifically on the opposing JVN-10A where the LRM launcher was mounted and fired his primary salvo, hoping to get lucky and either disable the launcher itself or cook its ammo. His autocannon fire missed, but the PPC shot hit right on target.

"Handling the Javelin, we got the Locusts under control yet?" He asked over comms, waiting for his weapons to cool and reload so he could fire again.

PPC against JVN-10A, Right Torso
AC/5 against JVN-10A, Miss
Yep, put me in, coach.

A race to the auditorium? Curious. No doubt that the threat of losing one's place at the academy would prompt a mad scramble to begin in the next few seconds. Certainly not the High Bishop's style, at first glance. A desperate stampede in the name of competition didn't quite seem like something he would approve of. Either there was something beyond this or he wasn't particularly involved in how the school was run.

Regardless, it seemed as though she didn't have a choice at the moment. With a resigned sigh, Iraleth joined the rush of prospective students, starting to simply shove through several with a combination of her natural height, muscled form, and plate armor providing bulk. She didn't employ direct violence, of course. But she didn't let anyone in her way slow her down, either.

A few moments of the obvious approach told Iraleth it wouldn't pay off in the long run. There were simply too many students in the way for her to keep this up for the better part of an hour to reach the front of the pack, or close to it. Anything less was too much of a risk to not be able to make it into the auditorium. And she'd sworn to her father she would succeed. His hopes and the legacy of his dead fellows were riding on it.

Fine. She'd invoke her Ethos, then. After all, this was ostensibly an academy intended to train everyone enrolled in such. There was little reason to restrain herself that she could see. A sweep of her plated arm shoved aside those nearest to Iraleth. She would need the space. The other fist clenched, held in front of her.

"On borrowed wings."

The Inheritor's armor materialized around Iraleth in a flash of light, revealing an eight foot-tall holy warrior completely encased in gleaming plate. Wings of light spiked out from the armor's back, and Iraleth took flight, literally soaring above the rest of the competition as she made her way towards the auditorium.
Will get a post up soon.

Also edited in something under skills that I realized I forgot to put in a week ago. Leaving it here for quick reference in case Nanaya wants me to take it back out.

Unyielding: Through a combination of conditioning, armor, and sheer, unrelenting tenacity, Iraleth is hellaciously stubborn, able to power through wounds that would take lesser warriors out of a fight.

Awkward things, these curse beasts. Lumbering and clumsy, yet more than lethal if anyone was foolish enough to get caught in the way of their blundering. Renar backstepped out of the way of their flailing, patiently waiting for one of the curse abominations to tire themselves out and let up just slightly in their wild swings before he moved in. When one did, he pounced.

The Bastard of Brias surged forward, ducking below the frantic frailing of a hamstrung abomination to run up towards its head and bring his poleaxe up. He wasn't a burly executioner, all muscle and flab with a blade crafted for the sole purpose of decapitation. Even if he was, this thing's neck was thick enough that aiming to sever the head would be a fool move that would get him killed. No, there were other, softer targets.

A thrust of the spear point plunged it into one of the curse abomination's eyes. As it howled in pain and jerked back, Renar withdrew his weapon and went for his actual target: the creature's now-exposed throat. A second thrust of the tip of his poleaxe sent it straight into the windpipe, where Renar kept the poleaxe stuck in while drawing a dagger in his off hand and plunging it deep into the side of the beast's neck for good measure. On a human or any other similar race, it would be where the carotid was. Fatal for anything mundane, but the hamstrings had proved these creatures weren't exactly immune or resistant to damage, so it should hopefully keep one down.

Kayliss Lambert

At least the little lordling's pet brute understood the point. Unfortunately, he was quite a bit sharper than expected. Kayliss's respect for and wariness around Istvan went up several notches as he started drawing closer to a truth she certainly didn't want or need anyone to know. This line of questioning was going far too close to the truth of the Crownsblades' status. Of the entire outfit, only Lady Velvetica knew, and even that had been too much information revealed for Kayliss's liking.

"It's more convenient for everyone involved that the Lady has specialist assistance close at hand." Kayliss finally deigned to give a bland response to Istvan's prodding. Simply dropping the matter would only invite even more suspicion. "Consider my official status to be...on loan, as it were."

This wasn't even untrue. If the opportunity arose, Kayliss would return to the Crownsblades in a heartbeat, if there was any semblance of an organization left. Scattered survivors, certainly. But not enough and with none versed enough in leadership positions for any true centralization.

"The Lady is fully aware of my status and consented to my positioning in her ranks. Rest assured that I'm here largely for the mission statement and not for internal politics."
