I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Renar Hagen

Ah. That did explain it. Perhaps Edwin and Parvan's examples weren't quite dragonfire, per se, but Renar didn't doubt that they wouldn't be just as difficult to dodge, if not more so. By all accounts, a dragon's flames didn't quite come out as quickly as Parvan's charge, or Edwin's sword waves.

And yet Renar could still follow them. Barely, just barely. But he still could. He allowed a savage grin to cross his face, nodding as he took a ready stance. Concrete improvement. Before they'd all come in here, Renar would have had no chance. Now there was one, no matter how slight.

"By all means, fire at will."

Fast. Even if his eyes and mind could comprehend what he was seeing, Renar's body still had to catch up. Admittedly, he was cheating somewhat in predicting their moves and acting accordingly, moving before he had a chance to react. But that wouldn't help him in the long run-

Edwin's next blade wave came at a horizontal angle and bisected Renar by its right edge, leaving his guts splayed out. He returned to life on a path just off to the side. After a moment to catch his bearings, the knight returned to where he'd stood. Right. He'd have to account for differing angles of attack. To say nothing of the fact that they were likely still holding back on the speed. More aspects to read and consider, even as his body grew accustomed to this sort of evasion.

"Don't tell me you're waiting for my go." Renar grunted, preparing to evade again. "By all means, try to snipe me the moment I come back to life. It's what I would do."

Ranbu no Izayoi

Once more, blood and fire desecrated the village of Atsu. Team Kirin met the first wave of Valheimians head-on, and came out with the advantage. Their frontline fighters faltered before Eliane and Arton's swordplay, and Galahad's leap sent their riflemen into disarray. For her part, Izayoi was stuck in deep, her blade tearing through a trio of soldiers trying desperately to hold the enraged mystel back.

Before their lines could lose all cohesion, however, the black-clad soldiers rallied around the cry of their captain, doing as she'd commanded and regrouping on her order. Izayoi scowled as the gunners fired, dashing behind the wall of another intact house to wait out the shots before reemerging, her glower intensifying as she'd realized where the newfound captain had come out of.

"You desecrate the doorstep of my home with your touch." At this point, her anger had spiked to the point where she wasn't even screaming anymore, but speaking slowly with barely-contained rage. She didn't even register that the woman had gotten her title wrong.

"You know everything. How? Did you give the order six months ago?" One of the soldiers remaining from the initial wave tried to flank her from the side, but an offhand swing of Izayoi's blade tore through his chest, leaving him crumpled on the ground. The sword's wielder never took her gaze off of Reisa, veins bulging on her forehead.

All the while, the battle continued. Reisa's swordsmen raised shields and took up defensive positions in front of the reloading gunners as the lieutenant with the crested helmet narrowly sidestepped Galahad's lighting. He raised a hand in response, ice shards forming around him and firing...towards Eliane and Arton. However they dealt with the bullets, they would find ice crashing down on them almost immediately after.

As if to cover his immediate superior, the juggernaut with the mace charged forward, intent on crashing through the house that Galahad stood atop of in order to force him to move or fall.
Iraleth Kyrios

He didn't take the bait. Disappointing. That disappointment didn't last long, however, compared to Iraleth's alarm at Professor Alto's sudden change in tone and target. Iraleth wasn't exactly surprised that he knew; something like this would have been long since passed along by the staff, especially after one night. And his words weren't exactly wrong. After all, she'd reached the exact same conclusion herself.

But his action still rankled. The paladin scowled, stomping forward. How dare he?! Otis's words barely registered in the back of her mind as she advanced.

"What in Astra's name are you doing, professor?" She ground out through grit teeth, raising her hand-and-half sword with one hand to slam into the man's barriered back while her other reached out to try to drain his Personal Barrier again.

"I made the accusation! She is my responsibility to deal with, until I am no longer able to! I will not let you kill the accused until her guilt is conclusively determined, one way or another!"

Iraleth's free hand moved to wrap around Alto's neck in a blood choke, aiming to drag him back through force. All the while, she reached out to Otis through the connection.

"In position. Whatever you mean to do, now is the time!"

Shinozaki Yurie

The glare-off continued. Yurie sure as shit wasn't letting this little armless freak think it had leeway to be an assclown and get away with it. What a little prick.

"I'll stop when he does." "I'll stop when she does." Both human and Digimon responded to Melody's attempt at defusal simultaneously. Of course, this only made their glares intensify at each other. Marauder was forced to give in first when the BlackAgumonX next to him made his comment, shifting his stern gaze over to the lizard.

"Other Gaossmon may be idiots. I'm not. If I was, I'd still be wasting away with them." He snapped, as Yurie took her small victory and looked at Yui and Kuro.

"Wait, you're just cool with outright being named like that?" She asked the newly-christened Kuro, tilting her head. "Seems kinda, I dunno, degrading." Her eyes slowly shifted back over to the Gaossmon.

"Don't even think about it. Not even if you Digivolved me." He said firmly. "My name is Marauder. THat won't be changing."

"Sheesh, I just called it degrading. Calm your tits." Yurie held her hands up in mock surrender, completely glossing over the part where she had absolutely no problem doing it to him specifically. "Think you're trying too hard to sound cool, but that's your prerogative."

"Tch." Marauder scoffed, turning his metaphorical nose at her before looking back to Kuro again. "You mentioned civilization. Lead the way. Perhaps the elders there would know how better to get power out of a human."
Zhao Jinhai

Ooh, they were getting smarter. What fun! The ex-criminal gave the situation a brief once-over, considering the enemies' capabilities, as well as his teammates'. The kid was probably a better shot than the gunners by far, but there was only one of him, and several of them. Beyond that, Pinkie could always just portal the rest somewhere else. Some war-torn shithole, maybe? Or Antarctica. Who gave a crap about Antarctica?

Still, the arquebus-wielders were definitely the largest problem by far at the moment. As much as he'd like to go one on one with the big guy, it was difficult to do so if Jinhai was riddled with bullets. He shot Masaru a brief nod, drawing his pistol.

"I'll keep the gunners distracted, feel free to put holes in the spearmen. Pinkie, if you're gonna just portal these all away, mind at least leaving the big guy? He looks just interesting enough."

Jinhai raised his piece, and moved. He was a blur of motion as he charged the gunners, his pistol trailing smoke from the barrel as he shot blessed 10mm bullets at the phantom ashigaru. The bullets were just a distraction as Jinhai closed the distance, reaching melee with the gunners as he started to tear into them with knees, elbow strikes, and the occasional pistol whip.

"Try to set me aflame with a torch and oil, for all I care." Renar grunted in response. "I'd be a fool to not take advantage of this situation without consequence. Pain and sacrifice are immaterial so long as I get results." His eyes glinted with a mix of spite and determination.

While he'd gotten faster, Renar had no illusions he could simply evade a dragon's breath. Yet. Whatever these two were cooking up was going to leave him horrifically burned, more likely than not. So long as the consequences weren't permanent, it wasn't an issue. After all, it wasn't as if he was just going to up and quit now. Not when there was still so much left to do. So much to prove.

"Let's be about this, then. I'm prepared whenever the two of you are."

Iraleth Kyrios

Frankly, Iraleth hadn't expected her Ethos to simply be able to outright roll over a professor qualified to work here. But it was still galling to hear him say the Inheritor was in its infancy, no matter how true it was. No small part of her wanted to simply grit her teeth and see just how far she had to go in a contest of strength, but both reason and duty called. There was no point in pushing her limits here when there was something with actual stakes later tonight.

With that in mind, she resigned herself to following Otis's plan again, given that the same tactic had come across her mind moments before he'd ordered it. She was stuck in here with him. Fine.

A flick of her wings rebuffed the thorns firing at her. Darkness fell, and the paladin took advantage of the split-second of surprise it offered her to deactivate her Ethos. The Inheritor's armor faded, and Professor Alto would only be grasping thin air for but a moment before he would grapple Iraleth again. She didn't give him the opportunity. The half-elf shoved herself away from Alto before he could reengage, drawing her mundane blade as she gained a small amount of distance, her back to the literal wall of thorns.

Even with the outright invincibility granted by his Personal Barrier, Alto still had to actually make contact to score a blow. If she could bait him into a contest of swords, Iraleth could likely stand a chance even within his overcharge. Plus, Ciara's constant assault distracting him didn't hurt, either.

"You're barely older than I am, and your breadth of knowledge is wider." She said flatly, taking up a defensive stance. "I've my doubts your depth of skill with a blade overtakes mine. Or even Ciara's, for that matter. Come on then, Professor." Iraleth goaded. Otis wanted her to play for time? She'd give the others that.

Kalina Kovalic

Well, that solved that. Kalina wordlessly offered Silje a high five after she'd managed to scare the pants off the civvies enough for the girl behind the counter to get the point. That was what one did in these situations, right? Once the high five was taken, because there wasn't a chance in hell Silje wasn't going to go for it, Kalina followed Gerard back out, opening the beer Justice had thrown at her earlier and taking a few swigs.

"Drinking, I suppose. Not exactly a reason to fight unless they give us one, and what the others did worked." Kali said in response to Gerard's inquiry before something did come to her mind.

"That said, the girl at the counter hit a silent alarm. Might have a problem in five."

Just then, she caught movement in the corner of her eye. Judging by the design, two figures were leaving what was supposed to be a local law enforcement station. Huh. And she'd just mentioned the silent alarm, too. Given the time between pressing it and their response in even leaving the station...the locals were rather slow, weren't they?

"Make that one. Two potential bogeys, ten o' clock." Kalina said, reaching into the cooler as she did so and tossing Gerard the beer he requested. With that stated, she quickly guzzled down the rest of her own brew, leaving it on top of a crate. No sense in leaving it undrank should the marshals prove hostile.

"How're we playing this?" She glanced around at those assembled, shrugging. "Didn't technically do anything, did we?"
Renar Hagen

Renar resisted the urge to sigh. It had been worth a shot, though he would have liked some kind of insight in how to deal with the First and Youngest. Ah, well. Really, what had he been expecting? Some magical solution that would fix all of this?

A beat passed. They were in a magical solution fixing their lack of adequate training for the challenges ahead. So perhaps it wasn't completely unreasonable to think of the matter as such. But that didn't mean he should have expected anything.

"I'll take your word for it, then." He said in response to Edwin before nodding to Parvan. "And none taken. You're correct, after all. Though I was largely trying to use her as a measuring stick against which how far I had left to go. Quite a ways, as it turns out."

They continued on to wherever the hell Edwin was leading them.

"While we're walking, care to brief me on what we're doing once we arrive? Or will surprise be more effective?" For all his disdain of Edwin on a personal level, it couldn't be said that Renar wasn't capable of being entirely professional when there was something to be gained.
