I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Salvator Rasch

Great. The warform wasn't at peak capacity, and that was just about their best method of actually putting this thing down. All things considered, the others weren't wrong: best to try to cripple it and call in evac.

On the bright side, close analysis of the first salvo against the mech revealed some weaknesses they could take advantage of: it wasn't as well-protected against kinetic rounds, which most of the squad were using anyway. They were managing to do damage to it, and from the looks of things, to the important bits as well. Evac wasn't a hopeless endeavour after all.

The walker began firing its thrusters, and Salvator used the brief reprieve for himself in getting back behind cover and focusing his semi-powered armor's subsystems fully into scanning it. Data began transmitting across the tacnet to every other member of the Envenomed squad, highlighting the mech's shielding not protecting against ballistic fire, as well as the cameras mounted atop the shoulders and head. Most importantly, he pinpointed the antenna on its back that was the most likely source of the communications blackout.

"Tactical analysis sent, it should be showing up on your HUDs. Taking out the cameras and the gun ought to stop it from being able to shoot down our evac, and if we put enough rounds into the back antenna, we should be able to call that evac in. Take what shots you can against any of those priority targets, but not at risk to yourselves. We're making it out of here alive."

With that said, Salvator crouched down and activated his camo cloak, blending in with the environment around him as he slowly wove his way around the edge of the combat zone to draw a bead on the back of the mech. Acquire the target. Line up a shot. Fire on the antenna. He flicked the fire selector on his carbine to full auto and began firing in controlled bursts, putting as much firepower into the antenna as he could fire accurately.
Zhao Jinhai

So that's what was going on. A singular spectre was behind everything. Made things far simpler, at least. Exorcise that one, and this whole operation came crashing down. Good thing the whole crew was united, then. It'd make this easier.

Too bad he didn't really want this to be easier now. A chance for a duel against a genuine samurai ghost, and it was going to be marred by the likelihood of everyone ganging up on it. Well, that and the fact that Jinhai didn't exactly have a sword right now. Truly, his will wasn't in harmony with the universe right now. The more he tried to force this, the less chance that it would happen.

Case in point, the freak of nature that was Teratoma surged right on ahead before he had the chance, moving to engulf the ghost warrior in one move. The former hitman sighed, raising his pistol with a twirl. So it wasn't to be for now. He could live with this, but he wasn't going to be happy about it. Maybe he'd get his shot for a duel if Teratoma screwed the pooch on this one. For now, he started sighting up rising ashigaru and emptying his pistol into them before they could interfere.

Really, it was complete bullshit they ever kicked him out of the temple. Here he was, following Laozi's philosophies to a tee. If only the Wudang could see him now...

"So once we're done here, any chance we can hit a restaurant in the area before we head back? Getting real sick of cafeteria food. Hot pot'd be nice. Or spicy ramen. Seriously, I'd kill for anything unhealthy at this point." He commented idly to no one in particular, just whoever was next to him at the time.
Yeah sorry, I sorta lost track of time, post is up
Iraleth Kyrios

Frankly, she had no idea what Otis was doing. Or what to do, in this case. Her training had always focused on more...physical applications of essence. That said, it didn't mean she wouldn't try. Iraleth left Chunji where he stood, striding up behind the Strigdae.

A glance at whatever Otis was trying only revealed that it wasn't something she'd be able to replicate. But that was fine. She didn't need to. She reached out, a gauntleted hand gripping Otis's shoulder.

Whatever she lacked in knowledge of magical theory, Iraleth still had might to spare. Even with an overcharged leyline to empower him, that only lent energy. Not strength. Her prime essence cut both ways, and through direct contact, the paladin allowed the scholar to temporarily inherit her sheer force to bolster his efforts.

Moreover, Iraleth's aura further empowered her, and through her, him. Unbeknowst to her, if there was one thing Otis was sure to believe in about the half-elf, it was raw strength. The feedback loop created by this lent greater divine might towards the effort, contributing towards the endeavour to outright rip Davil out.

From Talderia? Curious, but it wasn't his business to look into it further. Still, it lent credence to the more-than-likely theory that Merilla was a Witch in truth. Capital letters, at that. This entire realm was a strong argument for that already, but association with that blighted hellscape was something of a giveaway.

"Curious, but ultimately, the matter doesn't intersect with my own business." Renar gave a callous shrug, starting to follow along with the two founding knights. "On to lunch. The two of you are the hosts here: feel free to make a decision as to where we eat."

As they walked, one last question came to his mind.

"Edwin. Why bother having a copy of Steelfang? Can Merilla not replicate the original's enchantments within this realm?" Of course, that line of thinking would imply that she was borrowing the blade from whereever it was kept within the real Candaeln.

Rumi Fujou

Speaking in mundane terms, Sako really was just like any other third-rung city in Japan. Dull, drab, and rapidly bleeding youth and talent to Tokyo. Still, it had its charms. Like affordable, quality sushi.

Rumi finished her last serving of mackerel and made to pay the bill for her dozen or so plates of conveyor belt sushi, walking out of the restaurant not long after. Truly, she'd missed some of the comforts of Japan. Anything of similar quality in London would have costs magnitudes more. And she'd complained about that often...to...

She pursed her lips. Best not to think of it again. Beatrice had made her decision. She wasn't worth the time or effort spent thinking about her. Instead, Rumi slipped her overcoat on and started making her way through the streets again.

"Assassin." She murmured through the magical link binding them. "I'm almost to the church now. Discover whether there are any other Masters around and then return to me, preferably while sane. There's little reason to alert the overseer while we deal with this farce."

Rumi wasn't exactly enthused about having to register her participation, of all the utter inanities thought up by the ones behind this system. Especially not as the master of Assassin, of all things. Best to just be done with this quickly, preferably without anyone else discovering her participation. Unlike the majority of Clock Tower magi, she knew when to stay under the radar.

Kalina Kovalic

Court-martialed? For what? Kalina just raised an eyebrow at Valerie explained herself. The civilians were being useless. If any military tribunal actually took their side over active combatants in a time of war, then Rassvet almost deserved to lose. Before she could vocalize that, however, the marshal deigned to answer her question.

Another bit of incomprehensible nonsense. The recruiters evidently weren't being quite aggressive enough in this backcountry hole. Forget the effect on the town, if they didn't enlist every healthy youth of age, there wouldn't be a nation left at the rate the war had been going by all accounts. She'd seen enough territories collapse in her childhood to know as much. Preserving the future was all well and good if you had a hope of winning. Reality was a different story, as evidenced by the ever-growing Vangar borders on the map. Better to have a ruined land to call home at the end of everything than to have none at all.

For now, she just let the marshal walk away. There were other things to consider. Like dinner.

___

"Mhm. Sure." Kalina nodded along politely to Gerard's story, more interested in scarfing down her barbecue pork than whatever he was recalling that everyone in the squad had already been present for. Thankfully, Valerie knew what she was doing on the grill. Good enough to go for seconds, really.

She was in the midst of reaching for more meat when the sky lit up. Even before Valerie said anything, Kalina was already cycling through the airship models she knew in her head to try to pin down what it was. Unfortunately...

"Not an in-service military airship, on either side." She responded, quickly snapping up a piece of grilled chicken with her fingers and chomping down. No sense in wasting food if they were about to move out. "It's either a civilian liner or a prototype, but the profile looks closer to civilian designs."

She stood, nodding along with their sub-leader's assessment.

"Ready. Don't need to tell me twice to do my job." Active service was all she'd ever wanted for as long as she'd been old enough to understand the concept. Really, it beat putzing around the country for a few weeks.
Iraleth Kyrios

According to the teachings, Iraleth really should have been more sympathetic to Alto's plight of a bullet in his knee. Of course, that was evened out by the fact that this really was karmic justice over the whole Davil situation. Chunji was already attending to him, so she wasn't exactly needed there. Still, she'd say this balanced the scales overall.

Otis went off in search of Davil and Ciara went off who-knew-where. Though if Iraleth had to hazard a guess, she'd be off seeing someone about those injuries she'd taken over the course of their lesson. No sense not doing so when the duel was still this evening. By Astra, it wasn't even ten in the morning yet, and she'd already felt like the whole day had passed her by.

Still, it wasn't as if she'd be doing anything productive sticking around here. Chunji had the situation well in hand, and Hildegunde already made the offer to call in more medical aid should the situation require it. Best to just move along until the ceremony. Iraleth offered the barest incline of her head in Professor Alto's direction before turning and exiting the classroom.

The Strigdae was in the corner of her vision as she left, and Iraleth followed after. It accomplished two things: she was also curious as to where Davil had ended up, and her suspicion of Otis had never quite lessened just yet. Iraleth caught up to him just as he was about to enter Room 104, fixing him with a neutral stare as she folded her arms, observing whatever it is he was about to do.

Of course Parvan had another trick up his sleeve. It would have been disappointing if it were as simple as just evading long enough to be able to drive a knife into his neck. Didn't mean that it didn't hurt like hell, though.

"Grah!" Renar exclaimed in both pain and frustration as Parvan's retaliatory blast sent him flying, bouncing along the dirt on impact and skidding off a good ways. By the time he picked himself up, he could hear Edwin mentioning something about stopping for lunch.

He barely managed to stop himself from saying anything particularly biting in return. It was one thing to insult Edwin while he wasn't doing anything particularly important. It was another to do so while he was actively helping him train. That, and Parvan hadn't quite done anything to deserve such yet. As much as Renar wanted to keep going, he was at the mercy of his trainers in this particular situation.

"Fine." He grunted begrudgingly, hefting his polearm back on his shoulder. "Lunch, then. Back to Candaeln, or did Merilla keep some fascimile of Aimlenn's taverns intact?"
