Clothing Preferences: Comfortable and casual clothes that allow easier movement. When performing his duties Askel is typically found wearing scratched up, yet otherwise pristine armor with a red cloak draped over it and in colder weather he wears a similar fur lined cloak. However, should he be forced into a situation where he must dress up, typically at his mother's behest, then at the very least, he will dress whatever is fashionable within reason and as long it doesn't suffocate him.

Personality Summary:The first word that come to mind when describing Askel is unwavering; he knew exactly what he wanted to be as a child and knew what it was going to take to do it. His ambition to becomes a knight is what drives him forward, to protect Varian and her people for his love of his kingdom is great. Askel has a strong sense of justice and fairness, always trying to look at people and their circumstances rather than make assumptions of their character. If there is someone in trouble, then he is there to protect them even if it may cost him his life. He is uncompromising in his beliefs and unflinching, marching ever forward even when tragedy breaks his heart.
While one would assume to be a humorless hard ass with a single-minded focus, that is far from the case. Askel is warm, kind, and fun-loving man with a sharp wit. He greets many with a smile and lends an ear to whoever needs it. He cannot deny that he loves to adventure and experience new things as he will describe it innate to being human though that may be due to his curious nature. Despite his accomplishments, he is humble and downplays them, saying that it's what any knight would do.
However, no one should make the mistake him to be naive. He has seen things, things that he would dare not wish to share in half-hearted conversation, but he chooses to go forward. His own hands are certainly not clean though that is a burden he is willing to accept. That and he has a very keen mind so one should not expect to pull one over him so easily, unless they're family then somehow, they always do.
He holds a great deal of love for his family and those that he considers family. However, he can't help, but feel that he neglected them to a degree.

History Summary:It was very obvious what Askel wanted to be when he was a child. Whenever he played pretend, he was always a knight, never the king or some other role. The affairs of princes and nobles were not of much interest to him nor did the power that came from his position. What his parents saw was a boy with an incredible sense of justice and determination, something they encouraged though not without their own worries.
When it came to his family, it was a given that he loved and cherished them. He respected Lucian's free spirit and the ability to follow his heart though there were times that he wished he practiced self-preservation with him being the crowned prince. Askel was also a frequent target for the pranks of his little sisters and even when he knew better, he would fall for their schemes because his guard was always down around them. However, he found himself spending less time with them, not out of lack of interest, but because how much his training demanded of him.
While others were satisfied with basic training, Askel kept pushing forward. When he was a teen, his parents put him under the tutelage Ambrose Thrane and served under the knight as his squire. Now Ambrose thought very little of the prince, just some brat that was comfortably off that would crack under the smallest bit of hardship and he certainly held no punches when it came to Askel's training. The thing was that no matter what Ambrose put him through, Askel not only refused to give up, but thrived under him. Overtime, as much as Ambrose the grump would refuse to admit, they formed a strong brotherly bond and by then formed a strong bond with Ambrose's sister as well, Sophia.
Sophia with Lucian in tow would frequently visit her brother and during those times Aksel would spend whatever short respites he had with them. Askel loved Sophia, she was like another sister to him and encouraged him as he tirelessly worked himself to the bone. When he learned that Lucian and she were to wed he leapt for joy to not only have her to be part of his family, but Ambrose, his best friend and mentor, to be part of it too.
It was around the same that time that Askel was knighted and while a joyous day, he was not satisfied. It was then made a decision; he would become a knight-errant. He implored his mother and father to let him go on a journey. He believed that he could not learn to be a knight in the safety and luxury of his home, with nobles sneaking out pretending to be impoverished, or with books or teachers telling him what the real world was like. He implored his family to let him explore the kingdom and perhaps neighboring kingdoms because a knight's loyalty is to the king and queen and by extension, their subjects. How could he serve as a knight if there was a barrier between him and their subjects? How could he serve them if he was ignorant of the world?
They saw his earnestness and knew that he could not be dissuaded. There was no doubt that he would leave with or without their permission. With their blessing, Askel left Breoven to venture out into the greater world with only a horse and whatever equipment he could carry. It was not a blissful adventure, however. His journey was fraught with challenge and with horrors that he would not dare utter casually, but at the same time he saw things that made the journey all the more worth it; vast vistas painted by the setting sun, the warmth and generosity of common folk that barely had any for themselves, mountains piercing clouds that rolled like glacial drifts or coursing like raging rivers while lightning flashed behind.
During his journey Askel would perform many great deeds, helping those in need while slaying those that had wickedness in their hearts. At times his goals would align with other groups such as mercenaries, but he was also just as likely to clash with them should he find reason to quarrel with them. His accomplishments would begin to spread and with each deed he became more beloved and with each challenge he faced he only grew stronger as his renown grew and yet, he never grew arrogant.
At some point he had received a letter with the most wonderful news; Sophia was expecting. Askel decided that he would return home with the hopes that he would be there before the baby would be born. It was supposed be a moment celebration, but he then received another letter from his family that rushed him back to Breoven as quickly as he could. When he returned, Sophia was dead and Lucian and Ambrose, his two precious brothers were hollow shells of who they once were.
Askel decided to stay and would watch over the family that he felt that he had neglected while journeying as a knight-errant though a pall was cast over the castle though he always remained strong. In some ways he felt like he had to be a rock, someone that they could rely on. It was only fair after being away for so long. Perhaps that was why he was so compliant he was told to attend the Courting Season in Caesonia's capital. However, he was pulled to the side by his parents and asked something else of him, to go to Caesonia not as a knight or as a prince, but as Lucian's brother and help him have a good time and have a good time himself too.
It was a request that he could not refuse.
