"Congressman Graydon Creed made remarks earlier today outside of Capitol Hill that he believes his party will have enough votes to pass the controversial Mutant Control Act in the House. This comes only three months after President Kelly's full endorsement of the bill—"

"... Trask has been abusing his position as the new owner of the app, that's clear. No one living in reality can argue that fact. He's been telling his 120 million followers to sign up for Wideawake America rallies and posting pro-WAM talking points, then banning anyone critical of—"

"I'm telling you the Purifiers were good people. They had good points. They had values and they knew that God was on their side. You know, people always try to tell me that I'm anti-mutant, but I'm not. I'm really not. But I speak the truth, and the truth is a lot of media is run by mutants. And the Purifiers back in the '80s saw that future. They had that vision. That insight from a higher perspective. And Reverand William Stryker was a brilliant man when he started what he did. So, yeah, I'm just gonna say it, I like Stryker. I like Stryker—"

The screen flickered as the channels of the television were changed in quick succession. The dull glow from the monitor barely illuminated the dirty, dank, cramped room and its handful of occupants. On a dingy couch facing the screen, one individual stared with an intensity that could burn as the various news stations discussed the recent sociopolitical shifts in the mutant sphere. A long, delicate finger pressed down on the remote, and the screen flashed again.

The tv now displayed a cheering crowd thunderously applauding a tall, handsome man in a dark suit who spoke behind a podium marked with the scarlet WIDEAWAKE AMERICA MOVEMENT insignia. Above, a banner displayed the green and blue globe of Earth stamped with a white, closed fist. The Friends of Humanity and its greatest proponent, Graydon Creed.

The figure on the couch scowled in disgust as a well-manicured fingernail quickly tapped on the remote, changing the station once more. This time the screen depicted a young blonde woman sitting behind the Frontline anchor desk.

"As I'm sure our viewers are well aware, the Brotherhood of Mutants began in the early 1980s as a political organization that spoke against the poor treatment of mutantkind," Norah Winters explained. "Their acts of non-violent civil disobedience, however, quickly turned to more aggressive activism, and finally resulted in a full-blown, militant, revolutionary group. Over the decade, the Brotherhood was responsible for countless acts of domestic terrorism, including the attempted bombing of New York City Hall. Ultimately, though, the group came to an end when an FBI raid led to the arrest of senior leadership."

The news anchor continued, "Now, it's been over thirty years since the Brotherhood was at the forefront of public consciousness, but just last month reports of a new Brotherhood of Mutants began rising on various social media platforms and far-right forums. We spoke to Dr. Steven Lang, professor of mutant history and studies at Empire State University, who says these reports are nothing to be concerned about. He suggests that with the prevalence of costumed heroes in our society today, an organization like the Brotherhood of Mutants would be no threat at all in the modern world. He credits these rumors of resurfacing as nothing more than a loose collection of internet trolls—"

The light of the television died out suddenly as the figure tossed the remote away. The small space was now shrouded in almost complete darkness. From the shadows, the silhouette rose and turned to face the others who had been watching in silence. Two bright, amber eyes stood out clearly amongst the gloom.

"Boys," a seductively sweet voice called out. "It's time we make ourselves known. Let's show this Steven Lang just how concerned he should be of our Brotherhood."

I just wanted to add that I will also be doing the same for Ronin so the character is free to use but I will be editing out what I came up with.

I have some things that came up that I need to take care of since I'm finishing up my last semester of school.

Oh, I was just about to say you were accepted. If you find more free time down the road and want to apply again, we'll be happy to have you.

In the case of Fauna, the story is going to be that the Texas governor is among several Wideawake America Movement associated politicians bussing mutants to so-called "Sanctuary Cities" and Fauna was literally put on a bus by his family to get rid of him. (Obviously this is very close to the nose for real-life politics and if @Retired or anyone would like me to nix that, just let me know).

Real-world parallels are heavily encouraged. It's the best way to make a world feel natural and living.

All these talks about plans and connecting characters and storylines and meanwhile I'm over here like....

"When's the IC gonna start?"

Later today. IC got delayed by a couple of days due to my fever, which I'm happy to say I'm completely over now.
@Retired what do the sentinels look like? I’m still working on a CS but I might drop it and make a Iron Giant-esque Sentinel character (I think he’s called Justin’s Sentinel or something)

There are no giant robot sentinels. The drones look like... drones. They're manually controlled with very limited directives that can be followed. As of the start of the RP, the sentinels are nothing like what we're familiar with in the comics.

Any sentinel-based app is going to be a near-impossible sell, if I'm honest.
Another general lore drop that didn't fit into the timeline, and I'm not sure when I'd be able to establish it in the IC:

Nick Fury, former director of SHIELD, disappeared the day SHIELD was shut down by Reagan in 1989. He hasn't been seen since.

Again, not sure how I'm going to sort out these lore tidbits, but since there are quite a few SHIELD-related concepts already, I figured this might be important for players to know now instead of waiting for a future event.
Yes, he switched from titling his concept X-Men to avoid that confusion and to make it clear that the X-Men themselves are not being played yet. That being said, the timeline he set forth for the X-Men as part of his concept is now canon. That mainly being the X-Men recently formed as a team within the last year or so.
@Mao Mao is accepted. You can add your sheet to the Character Tab.

They also get special thanks for reminding me I needed to add [code] tags in order for the character sheet to be copiable. That should now be fixed.
Ben Urich - Daredevil's contact in the New York Bulletin. One of the last truly good reporters in New York, he's been working the Kingpin case for close to twenty years. Isn't aware of Daredevil's true identity and doesn't care who he is - the minute that Kingpin is brought down, he's convinced that he'll turn his efforts towards exposing the vigilante, aswell.

I currently have Urich set as a Spider-Man NPC and anchor for Frontline, but should you be accepted I'll switch him out for another character so that you can use Urich without conflict.

Just to add to this slightly, you may want to update how the sheet is displayed within the original post here. I had issues getting the empty sheet through quoting it, and had to get it from someone else's post! Unless I'm being dumb and there's a much easier way to get it that I missed.

Hm. I'll look into this.
Some general lore that all Earth-bound or knowledgeable characters would be aware of:

The Sentinel Program, led by Trask, was a United Nations effort. To date, it has three publicly known successes. First are the Sentinel drones, about the size of fighter jets, capable of atmospheric and spaceflight. Their weaponry proved capable of penetrating Chitauri wreckage in tests.

Second, a network of satellites in low Earth orbit capable of initiating a powerful electromagnetic field around the planet as a defensive shield for a limited time. While scaled versions of the satellites were tested on the ground, for obvious reasons the electromagnetic forcefield has not undergone practical tests.

Finally, the Sentinel Program's earliest success is the orbital space station, Bastion. Bastion station was designed to detect anomalies within local space and be an early-warning system for future alien assaults. It also serves as a carrier for the drone flotilla.

The Sentinel Program is lauded by the general public and viewed as Earth's best defense against further threats.

I'm not sure how I want to organize this kind of general lore, but placing it on the timeline felt superfluous.
after a busy weekend of christmas parties and concerts, finally got around to finishing my sample!

To my shame, I realize I also got a little premature here. For some reason, when looking at your character sheet, I didn't notice the sample had only just been added this morning. Join AndyC in the "we cheated the system" club.
