8 Legged Freaks >>>> I hope this works /// Day 5 // Morning
Gird was taken slightly back when the spiders began to swarm. For a moment he didn’t move, even as the swarm drew closer. He was thinking, what strategy to go with. Obviously if he killed enough of these spider lings the big one should come out. But he was sure he would be bitten before he got close enough. They could run but this was a test after all, one spider, one big spider could prove invaluable to their skill set. So what to do, but draw them off.
Stepping back toward Barth and slowly away from the spiders he kept strumming the webs just enough to keep their attention before moving again. “Luz ill draw these off. Wait for them to pass and take the other two to the right and engage the Spider. Once I draw these far enough away, I'll rush back to assist then we can deal with these at our own pace.” A simple order and plan, he was also basically giving her command while he dealt with these spiders.
Strumming the webs in a frantic manner from place to place. Gird hoped this would mimic what they would think was an injured bird or rabbit. Something that was struggling to get free and constantly got stuck while running away from the swarm. The pale hobgoblin was also being wary and careful not to end up in the webs himself as well as not wanting to get surrounded. He would continue to kite them around and away from the mother until he was at a good distance before returning and helping the others.
Making a Gamble >>>> A New Mount /// day 8 // Morning
Ardur figured the goblin might try to attack him or swat him away. He could only watch as the goblin blindly swung at him and tried to shake him off. The pixie dug his toes into her shoulder and clung closer to her ear. He hoped that the goblin physiology was similar to humans as he griped and twisted her ear with one hand and jammed his fist into what would be a pressure point behind the jaw with the other.
“Now listen here, if you didn’t realize by the glowing aura you got right now from my shield spell. I’m here to help. Crispy is no longer a threat and could be a good teacher as long as he remains useful. He can always die another day.” Ardur lessened the pressure on her jaw and ear but still held on. “Now I took a gamble, I thought you were smarter than the other goblins. So if you stop swiping at me, I’ll tell you if there’s more shots coming in. got it?” A simple thing to understand for sure while he both watched their backs and kept an eye out for any more of her funny business or other goblins.
well that was a fun weekend. a good friend that I hadn't seen in 8 years came over for a surprise visit with her 4 year old little girl. hope everyone else is doing well.
Honestly Victor was caught off guard again but this time from the girls' response. The butterflies in his stomach began to act up again as she came closer. Mostly due to his blunder but still the blonde just smiled. Giving the girl a nod as his new friend introduced him to Milena. Victor could only wonder if these two would wind up on the same fire team as him.
This girl who so casually walked up to the two of them with confidence reminded him of his older sister. For a moment Victor caught himself thinking back to when she would come home with medical books and talking of dreams of becoming a doctor. It was her way of giving back, it was how she knew she could help. The girl had plenty of practice between the bouts of fighting that he would go through. Whether it was against his father or other kids in the city.
He seemed distant for only a moment when the girl asked him if she could check the small bump on his head. Without hesitation Victor knelt for the smaller girl. And again smiled when she said she was a medic. “You remind me of my older sister Sasha. She works in Kirov at one of the hospitals there.” He wasn't entirely sure why he decided to share that bit of information but decided to roll with it anyway.
Then Yosef spoke up about her being a medic and needing bandages then something about fixing guns and radios. “So an Engineer and a medic?” Asimov spoke up as he stood letting the medic finish what she needed to do. “Well I'm not all that great at patching people up or fixing weapons. But, if you need some covering fire to get from one point to another or need something heavy moved just ask. As long as you keep me alive and my gun keeps firing ill keep you safe. That would be a support's job right?”
The blonde kept his smile as an officer ordered them to board the train again, “Well I wish you both good fortune in what is to come and I do hope we are put in the same team. You both seem friendly anyways.” With that and a nod Asimov followed the others back onto the train taking care to duck before entering the door this time. Returning to his cabin he paused for a moment longer and looked back out the window at the alien world that would be his home for what could be the coming years. He missed the snow already.
The train ride was still quite smooth. Victor spent the next few hours meditating to try to calm his nerves. His family sword laid unsheathed across his legs while he focused on his breathing. The sharp sword was a reminder of home and so far none of his superiors had an issue with him using it as he was always able to show he had great skill with the blade. That and he had orders from some far off general that said he could have it. Orders he kept with him, but he knew his father had arranged it somehow. The man did have his connections.
The stars shown brightly in the night sky, the small specks of light didn't fade because of light pollution or smoke. Victor found himself staring out at the stars for some time. Memorizing their place in reference to directions like he would do in the forests back home. A simple way to tell direction when one didn't have a compass.
Slowly the scenery changed yet again as the train began to slow. The lush green jungle gave way to a broken concrete one. Asimov knew with the sudden change in scenery and speed that they were almost there and with that he set to gathering his things and placing his sword back in his bag. The only other personal item he had were a picture of him and his brother and sister when they were kids but other than the sword and his clothes he didn't carry much else with him.
The boy was ready when they were given the command to depart the train, the war torn concrete didn't give him much comfort. He could only wonder as to just how close they were to the front lines. His thoughts were cut short when he was directed to a large tent with many others. After finding a bed in the middle of the tent he found himself going to sleep quickly, hoping he would get enough rest for the coming training.
Fight to Survive >>>> Making a Gamble /// day 8 // Morning
Ardur was in the heat of the moment, his heart was nearly pounding out of his chest. The small toothpick he grabbed earlier seemed to do the trick. Piercing the thin skin of the goblins eyelid and into his eye. However, the victory was short-lived. The injured Crispy soon started to shake with anger and with a yell shot off a fireball right into Ardur. Everything was suddenly a bright hot blur as the pixie was flung back head over heels away from the bon fire. He couldn’t hear what the goblin said, Ardur simply figured it was an insult. But right now, all he could hear was ringing in his ears.
The world slowly began to stop spinning around the pixie who just moments before was flung across the cave and into a nearby rock. His head hurt and his body felt sore but it seemed like the shield he cast on himself held just long enough to save his life. He took a moment to gain his bearings and peer out at the chaos and war zone that had sprung up around them. Goblins attacking goblins, lizards striking down prey, wisps bombarding others, and a few pixies trying to do something. “What the hell is going on?”
Multiple small skirmishes all going on at once seemed to force the other creature of the cave to back off and stay away from the Frey. Could all these monsters fighting be human? Ardur could only wonder as to what kind of force would subject these people, these humans into fighting like this. Perhaps it was instincts, maybe even the fact that these people thought they were in some sort of dream or game with little to no consequences.
The small pale pixie looked down at his smoldering clothes. Slowly taking them off, so they didn't burn him. again he caught himself looking at the black marks on his chest. This place was real, he had died and there was no going back. This place is real life now. Eventually breaking free of his thoughts, Ardur began to fly again. Just in time to see a goblin throw a stone at crispy and the other goblin with the bone sword. The female was trying to save crispy and again He couldn't decide what to do.
Crispy had been severely injured, and by all intents and purposes of his earlier attack that he could tell had neutralized the threat. A blind goblin isn't much of a problem and could very well be thrown out of his current position with in the goblin ranks. The pixie could only hope that the goblin hierarchy was structured around power and that they wouldn't accept a crippled goblin. But if he let the goblin get killed by these others than they were going to lose a possible teacher. The goblin could always be useful and die another day.
Acting quickly as a few others took off after the two goblins. Ardur began to fly up toward the ceiling, he wasn't too tired just yet. Stiffening his wings toward the top and gliding quickly towards the duo the pixie took a slight detour to fly by the same crystal the wisp had just collided with to grab another falling chunk of crystal and soak up what ever dust was left around. Again the small creature was feeling the same rush from earlier as he flew past the wisp and straight toward the back of the female goblin.

As he got closer and closer Ardur's plan began to take a bit more shape as he neared these two. The female seemed to be trying to block the others by putting herself between Crispy and the others while she pushed him forward. In the next few moments Ardur would try to do something crazy. While gripping the crystal and still using some of his mana to keep flying The naked pixie cast Shield I on himself, used the mana crystal, and once he was close enough, he would try to grab the Female goblin's ear. To try to catch himself while casting Shield I on her as well. “Keep moving your almost there” he shouted at her. Ardur would then turn staying on the females shoulder to tell her to dodge or move if another attack was coming in.

A sticky situation >>>> 8 Legged Freaks /// Day 5 // Morning
Gird could feel the vibrations and watched them disappear into the forest but nothing came back. Perhaps they were listening but were not interested. Handing the spear back to the other goblin and moving back towards the other two he smiled. “Alright let’s go see what else we can find hidden amongst the webs. I’ll take point and push forward through these webs” the hobgoblin took a moment to look between the two females. “You two speak up if you see anything, but I’m going to be the bait for this next encounter. Try not to let me die.” A bit of a sinker before pushing forward through the webs.
Gird would try his best to navigate through the webs and did notice that Barth was having little trouble getting through this area. The webbing he had wrapped around his hands, feet, and legs seemed to make him almost glide across the sticky substance. After a little while of walking Gird found himself copying the young goblins tactics but only to make his walk a little easier. But still found his extra weight still forced his foot falls through the weaker webs.
Before too long, the forest began to change again. This time growing darker and more menacing with thicker webs and the ever subtle movements of baby spiders in the webs near them. Even with being babies they were still almost as big as his hand. The bright coloring on these flared his instincts making him steer clear of them and not to draw too close. Besides, he still wanted to keep some element of surprise. Which he found hard to do, with the small group of four.
The small trail soon gave way to a larger opening, the other side of the opening held a denser patch of webs that funneled down to a small hole near the bottom. Inside this home of webs was a large spider surrounded by many smaller baby spiders. This spider seemed a bit different from the other and was definitely bigger. Obviously a female, perhaps the other spider was a male. He would have to wait on his thoughts for now as he stopped walking and motioned toward it for the others to see.
“Let me know when you’re ready” Gird whispered. The pale hobgoblin took his time while the others set up to mentally map out and note the way the larger strands of web were laid out from the spider’s home. A highway of strands all transmitting information through vibration, all someone had to do was make a call and summon the beast to them. Being as careful as he could, Gird stepped off the path and into the open being careful not to stray too far from the others, so they could still help. Gird would then find a strand that led directly to the spider and wait for the others. Once they were ready, Gird would then begin to pluck the strand in a way that one might think something on the other end was struggling.
