It's not really steampunk, I'd say. Since ClocktowerEchos hasn't come back since their first post, the magical machinery which I had said could exist isn't officially around right about now.

And this might seem harsh but I don't think an ice-box would work either since they were only invented in late 1800s, 1900s-ish(as in the act of using ice in a box to refrigerate), and this is pretty much high-fantasy swordcraft kinda thing. If you say they're just chilled without illustrating how they're chilled I honestly wouldn't mind it, the only issue here is the technology which doesn't fit with the setting, in my mind at least.

There's an item I'll introduce later which you could use for it, but until then, sorry.

Besides from that, I've decided to do some swordcrafting guidelines instead of the more complex system which I said I was going to do, because a I was writing it it just felt really bad.

New Sword Crafting

Heating Materials:
Should generally take a few hours(at least 4 or 5? Not sure about the numbers), depending on the material. The time it takes to heat it up to a workable standard will generally increase as the tiers go up and the materials get stronger. Some metals will take less time such as Copper, Gold and Bronze because of their properties.

Hammering:
Hammering swords is an intensive process which requires much skill and focus. Depending on how complex your sword design is, you might have to re-heat the sword a few times. The action of hammering is, after all, beating a metal bar into the shape of a sword and making sure it's balanced and would make for a good weapon. The use of casting can make this process easier but requires the construction of a cast, as well as higher heat to completely melt the material. Hammering could almost take longer than the heating itself depending on the sword design.

Despite all that, hammering the sword is not a process that will need to be done in detail because it's probably going to be a pain. Just keep in mind it is an intensive process that takes a lot of time.

Tempering and Quenching:
The final stage of making a blade, involves cooling the sword rapidly or heating it slowly in order to increase or decrease the hardness of a sword. Making a blade harder increases the brittleness, and can result in it breaking more easily. However, it can also increase the sharpness of the edge. Decreasing the hardness via tempering increases the durability of the blade by making it more able to absorb shocks.

Tempering or Quenching wouldn't take very long and can be appended to the finishing of the blade as part of the same smithing action.

Finishing:

Involve creating the hilt, sheath and decorations. Could honestly be just as long as creating the blade, but for the most part you'll be able to time-skip it.

You guys don't have to change very much because we're a little too far in, except your swords will probably need some more work. Since you're in the middle of eating pork, you can place your sword in your forges again to maintain the temperature while you're doing other stuff. Just keep in mind the time actually needed to do everything.

In all honesty, I'm not sure if I'll ever do a focused challenge like this again using those rules, since they essentially end up with people just doing stuff alone in the RP. If it weren't for @Jerkchicken there probably wouldn't have been any interaction at all, so I'm actually really grateful for your pork roast.

Even @Uno decided to leave because of the lack of interaction :'( so in future, do expect challenges will be given still but they probably won't be nearly as strict as this one.

Sorry but I'm gonna have to say you can't have those beers cold right now, since even considering alchemy and all that I said a while back you guys shouldn't really have greatly specialized stuff as of yet ^^;

I wanted you guys to all have started with fairly little in the way of personal items which I probably should've made more clear... Even though the beers being cold is still a relatively minor thing, I'm still going to say it's too much for you to have right now. The pork roast was fine and having the beer is also fine because they end up being pretty basic in terms of resources. Whatever it was that Tao used to chill the beers is too advanced to start with.

In summary, your beers are going to have to stay warm right about now unless you're pulling them out of a really dark cellar like they used to do ^^;

It's taken me a while to do something about that up there because I haven't been paying so much attention due to real-life engagements, as I'm sure most of you are aware of. I am now currently working to resolve the issue of the time it takes to make a sword, which will most likely result in a much more complex sword crafting system but I'll try and keep it as simple as possible so it ends up being pretty easy in the end.

It'll take a little bit but I'll probably finish it by today.

I'm not really big on a universal 'current time' I'm happy with everyone going off on their own times so long as we all end in the same spot. If we're a little short, we can timeskip the rest of the time to the presenting of the swords, we'll all end up in the same spot regardless of where we were finished.

I'd place you guys 2-5 hours after the initial gathering considering some time passed between moving to the forge, and then Tao had to grab all his pork roasting materials which probably weren't, but maybe were there? Either way it'd take a bit of time to set up a pork roast.

@ClocktowerEchos An indeterminate time, Karthis grabbed his metals and went to his forge but the wording on time is pretty vague. I would venture that there's still daylight, but the passage of time can't really be felt in the post. I guess we could just call it Limbo for now.

I apologize for not really regulating this RP as well as I could be. I was setting things up to see how self-sufficient it could be, but I'm not sure if I'm happy about the way I'm keeping up with the inactive(relatively) people. I've pretty much done nothing except for a big post every so often, and I'm not sure whether that's a bad thing.

I've finished my villain

23rd Century Boy

Name: Real name unknown, goes by '23rd Century Boy'
Age: Appears to be 15-16 years old, again, unknown for certain.

Appearance: Usually seen in a grey hoodie with cargo pants, always has sunglasses on indoors and outdoors. Always has a custom model hoverboard with him, amongst other things, most of which are potentially lethal.

Brief History: '23rd Century Boy' is a very prolific hacker which has, more than a few times, almost succeeded hacking into government databases, including that of the JSSDF. His presence is much more active on the internet than in real life, forging a certain personality. He states that he has come from the future in order to prevent calamity from happening, the likes of which he had never been too specific about. His emphasis was very general, and his strikes were never too focused as analysts put forward. This 23rd Century Boy was a gifted hacker for sure, but whatever else he claimed to be was a different story.

Many wouldn't admit it but initially, most of the law enforcement agencies weren't taking him too seriously. Even being so prolific, after the analysis the general consensus was that he was just some precocious kid not worth worrying about. They put in hacking countermeasures, tried to track down a trail, the usual. They didn't exactly know what he was going to do, but it couldn't be too bad, right?

Almost as if he knew exactly what they were thinking, 23rd Century Boy got serious. It started at a certain Gala, for a certain charity. His target was the analyst who had reached the precocious child conclusion, attending as one of the guests. This also marked 23rd Century Boy's first large public 'display', he took over the presentation system for a distraction, and then came in from behind and bashed his head into the wall, killing him instantly. The security system had been completely disabled save for a single camera which had captured the analyst's moment of death.

From then on, 23rd Century Boy did many more acts in person. Each one was like a show case for his unknown technology. The first time had been his hoverboard, another time had been Voltage Mines, another time he'd crushed someone to death using two force-fields. Force-fields and those mines were things that existed in the current age, of course; but he'd either modified them enough that they couldn't tell who had manufactured them, or he was making them himself.

Despite the fact that he seems like he's simply playing around, he goes the extra mile to make things seem deliberate. When rumours begin circulating about a certain secret he acts in some way or another. He has killed less than a dozen times but each one points to a vague trail, promising some kind of hidden secret before invariably reaching a dead end. As a figure, unusual is too little to describe him and anything else would be too much. As such, he has gained a large following in the shadows who wouldn't dream of expressing themselves in public, but all see something inside him.

Whether what they see in him is truth or reality is not up to anyone but him, however.

Personality: He is outwardly fairly childish to hide a ruthless side. He understands the art of provocation so he acts condescendingly but he never makes the mistake of underestimating his opponent. His aim is always to crush his opposition, the theatrics and the taunting are all for the sake of his goal.

Abilities: It is unknown whether he has no abilities or whether he is just hiding them.

Skills: Forward planning, strategy, hacking, being a troll(not really).

Equipment: A list of equipment he is known to commonly use.

• Hoverboard: Hover technology exists in this age, but 23rd Century Boy's hoverboard is an entirely unique design. It places great emphasis on forward acceleration, to the point where in actuality all it does is accelerate forward and the user wouldn't actually have great control over the speed, but he makes it work. It has strong construction and despite its look is fairly heavy. He used the hoverboard to kill the analyst so it has some merit as a lethal weapon.
• Force fields: Besides using them in his contraptions, 23rd Century Boy always has a 2-layer defensive force-field matrix; a smaller one covering his body, and a larger spherical one, generated by a device on his hoverboard. In direct combat, these are his primary offensive tools. His hoverboard provides the right amount of accelaration to take full advantage of the primary rule of force. When two forces collide something has to give.
• Voltage Mines: His primary trap tool, he tends to place many ahead of time to cover his exit route. They self-destruct after a certain period of time, making recovery of them difficult. They deliver a large shock which can be set, up to lethal, from his wristwatch.

Allegiances: Anti-government, Inverse Agent
