Current I just can't. This is too much. Berserk was so influential on so many things that I love. Goodbye, Miura. You'll be missed by many.

Bio

Hello! Welcome to my little bio.

Not much to say, really. Just a horror game protag that likes writing and playing vidya games when I'm not being chased by the cosmic forces of darkness. (I'm a security guard that works night shifts usually).

Have some dancing medjed.

Man. I almost wish Iva wasn't such an uncaring fool so I could have him huggle Oao. I might have him do it anyways.

@A Lowly Wretch
One question.

Iva's gonna make shoggoths slime people. That cool?
@Rune_Alchemist
My god would argue that, given the evidence of the human communities that have formed, and the discoveries that they have made, that a 'state of nature' in which humans must live like beasts and focus entirely on survival is not conducive to them making discoveries. Only an ordered society, one where tasks concerning survival are delegated, will allow a subset of the population the luxury of seeking knowledge. At least, this would be his proposal to Iva. My god wants to build good relations with the gods, and wants all or most of the gods to be in some sort of tentative non-aggression pact, and will gladly be the mediator between the gods and their worshipers (ie. middle management), since many of the more arrogant gods may feel that dealing directly with the mortals is beneath them. Basically, my god sees a pie and many hungry gods, so my god has offered to slice the pie. I may also relinquish making a mad dash-grab for Mathematics, since I agree as a player that that would fall under Iva's domain more.

Iva, would counter argue that stability and order are inherently enemies of invention and discovery. Plagues make it so people develop medicine. He is the type to create a disease, unleash it on people, and then see if they can make a cure for it, or will they succumb? War makes it so people develop better weaponry & tactics. Iva would argue this, is how people learn and best adapt & create new things. As well, There doesn't need to be a singular cast of people focused on research. As long as humans have desire to learn, anyone could make a discovery. From a lowly farmer to the wealthy merchant. The moment he starts restricting that to a certain caste or class, is when you start closing your ears to other ideas and avenues of thought.

If humans become stuck on one area of research, build their entire civilization on that without exploring other avenues (Using real world history here - Steam powered things being beaten by modern methods of power and the argument of our world being reliant on fossil fuels still with people being reluctant to change or explore other avenues), then its time for a chaotic and messy status quo change to see what humans can make if they must start over with nothing. Iva can and will destroy entire civilizations if he grows bored with them, hence why I wanted him to have that Archival ability. He's not evil or cruel. He just gets bored easily. As long as he's entertained by the current civilization, then he'll let it thrive and watch. Maybe offer help here and there. But the moment he gets bored...well, he'll start thinking about another experiment.

That's all humans are to him, one big experiment. And when one experiment ends, another must begin. He'll take a lesser known form of technology in a previously made civilization, and give it to another human and tout it as 'the most powerful force in the world'. In the previous real life example, he'd destroy our currently world and tech, and then give humans working steam technology and thus watch as a literal steampunk world unfolds.

But of course, this is all hypothetical situation and much better decided ICly. Your god could very well sway Iva to perhaps, entertain the idea of a world government of sorts. It would certainly be an entertaining idea for Iva for awhile...until it started to stagnate and become boring. If he did do this, he'd probably advocate free education and that no one be barred from attempting scholarly pursuits. But even so, at some point, he will grow bored if the civilization fails to produce anything significant after awhile, or becomes so entrenched in tradition that it refuses to consider and at least attempt to employ other avenues of thought.

If you want, as soon as the RP starts we can have these two get together and discuss such things, if you want.
I'll just add that on my todo list then, heh.
@A Lowly Wretch

Perhaps? But the idea is that they're not lost. At least, not to him. The world may very well forget it, but they're preserved in his realm, along with all the knowledge therein. Though, I suppose it is similar on some level in regards to mortals, at least. I always did intend for him to take knowledge as much as give it, just for giggles to see what humans of different Eras or locations do with the same knowledge after some time of it having been deemed a lost art or some such.

Like say...for example, White Dawn attempts doing something extremely dangerous. They blow themselves up. Iva uses the ability, transfers the city, their results, people, everything that's left to his realm as a way of saying 'this is as far as they go.' Later on...possibly someone else attempts the same thing. Iva could very well help them and let them have access to the preserved places if he thinks they earned the right, simply curious to see what the outcome of it would be that time.

Anyways, enough of my late night rambling, hah. Another question.

Could a god alter their own Divine Cords? Say, not to give them any new domains or anything, but experiment on themselves or another to perhaps fundamentally change their existence, or otherwise alter them in some way? Or would that be a no?
@A Lowly Wretch

Aye, you are correct, and it's basically what I assumed would be the case.

I mostly want to have the transportation thing simply for my own thematic reasons and for the appearance of Iva's Realm later on. Basically Its supposed to end up looking like a mishmash of a number of different things from different eras that Iva has taken a liking too or deemed important, all stored and filed away in a rather chaotic way.

Of course, I would certainly be willing to make it just a 'scan spell' of sorts to catalog things if I could potentially think of something else to help achieve that end but at the moment I got nothing. I suppose he could create perfect replicas in his own realm, but that feels a little...inauthentic, and Iva wouldn't really do that.
@Stern Algorithm

Hm

I feel as though I must first mention, Iva would 100% detest any order or god thereof. Mostly because he himself, views Chaos as the ultimate end of anything. He'll probably find it amusing to see how long this orderly god and his pantheon of fools lasts, if he gets that far, but other than that he'll likely have nothing to do with the god. I suppose he could work in White Dawn or the Library, if no one else is offering, but he'll probably end up being the butt of Iva's oddness.

As well, I did plan to have Iva basically eventually have the domains of 'Science and Invention', so I see no conflicts there as far as yours go, though 'Mathematics' would be a sub-domain of Science I feel. Aside from that, I certainly do like the idea of this god.

@A Lowly Wretch

And for you, I have a particular ability I'd like to run by you that Iva could potentially have, and its how he mostly adds things to the library directly, without having to wait for it simply to show up. Do tell if there are problem, as I can see how this could be considered problematic but I am definitely willing to potentially work on it.

I have also updated Iva's sheet with his current thoughts on the other gods.

@Lucius Cypher@Pyromania99

Well, so far this place seemed to be where they were looking for. Livia allowed herself to relax somewhat, stepping into the cool air of the place. A pleasant scent wafted through the air, making it obvious this was indeed, their destination. The young noble took a quick glance at the patrons, glad to finally be able to see again. A kobold that was cleaning, a grizzled looking Drow and a table full of rather unsavory looking characters...but no one that could possibly be Lucilla. Thankfully the Drow man was kind enough to inform them she had left.

"I see, thank you." Livia replied taking a glance to make sure her sister hadn't run off somewhere and possibly got into more trouble. Hm, she didn't want to wait around to gather information if she could, yet at the same time she was quite keen on meeting this Lucilla. Well, perhaps this Drow Man could be a bit more helpful. "Don't mind if I sit here, do you?" She folded her hands on the table, smiling pleasantly at the Drow. "If Lucilla isn't here, then I suppose I'll have to track her down myself in a bit. But before that, Perhaps you can help me with something else. Is the name 'Nemuno' familiar to you, sir?" Her sister may be frivolous and careless, but she was not, and something was nagging at her that something was fishy here.

@Dealdric
They shall make wonderfully terrible creations together, huhu.

@thewizardguy
You say he shall be the enemy of knowledge.

but Iva is going to love him because he'll always give them more stuff to research/look for...also probably want to usurp his title so he can be that themselves. So that'll be fun.
@Dealdric

Well, Iva isn't a jerk per say. just 100% insane and does anything for knowledge if something/someone is keeping them from it. Will probably mention black goo seeping from eyes and probably scratch odd symbols onto the surface of things because 'It helps the mind focus'.

But yes, I can see them sharing both their insanity and creating quite a few magical and scientific constructs together. He'll probably want her to teach one of the humans in White Dawn magic.
