A stealth barbarian with the folk hero background.
This story takes place at the heart of the kingdom of Avenfall, king's watch. The home of it's monarch, situated near an ancient roaring river which is often mistaken for a lake due to its size and ferocity. It is where all other towns and cities converge upon for trade, commerce and communications.
Didn't you say this would take place in a town? Because if so, what you've just described sounds more like a capital city than a town.

@rush99999 I was thinking 1, but up to level 3 sounds good to me since I know it opens up subclasses for paladins and stuff.

"SHIT!" Holland exclaimed as a nearby shop went up. Holland's instincts kicked in and the gunslinger dived for cover. His speed spared him the blast, but some of the shrapnel still managed to draw blood from his leg. Holland had suffered much worse than a minor leg injury before though. Blocking out the pain, Holland stood up to inspect the damage to the rest of the area. The shop had been destroyed, taking the poor shopkeeper along with it. On top of that, Grognak had taken the blast head on, leaving the super mutant one good hit away from being taken out of commission. Other than that, everything else was as fine as a place could be after an explosion had occurred in the general vicinity. "Shit! Grognak!" Holland exclaimed before rushing over to the super mutant. "You ain't lookin' so good, big guy."
