Current Man, I can't wait to roleplay as Teak Root Furniture. Sounds wild.

As Eddie Izzard once said, "Americans say 'Urbs' English people say 'Herbs', because there's a f*cking 'H' in it"

Gotta love people who comment on your RP just to leave a snarky comment about it. GG, good to see you're using your time well.

Nothing like putting a load of effort and time into a game background when people are interested after the int check, for everything to go completely dead when you post the OOC with all the info.

Lengthy OOC finally up for my mecha-based game, now to collapse and try and sleep before I go on Holiday

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 42 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

@Silverwind BladeAnother thing though gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Marion_Whelch is said to have been freed from the Exam System meaning it'd be inert in all likelihood. Unless you want to keep her trapped in that hell for the sake of the story.

Yeah, I'm aware of that - I used to have the manga, in fact.
I'm going along the lines of someone else - who, clearly knowing it does as such is evidently an evil asshole - uses the research to re-create the system using another Newtype. TBH, I don't want to go into too many more details, as it'll start giving all of it away, and there won't be much of a story to uncover otherwise.
But yes, I am aware of the origins of the system and the nature of it, don't worry. I appreciate the input, and that you're trying to help, but I have done research, and am aware enough of canon to know a few things. And the ones that I don't know, well, I'm deliberately either leaving them out, or making my own thing out of it if it turns out not to work for what I have in mind. After all, this is my game, not the canon. The canon is just the starting point for our story.
@Silverwind BladeA quick question? Why allow the Pale rider if it has HADES unless the system was overhauled to just be a simple boost to performance. A reminder that the HADES system literally drives its pilot insane. Also unless I'm mistaken all the Pale Riders were destroyed.

There's enough ambiguity and wiggle room to allow for one Pale Rider (at least) to have survived from what I read about the mobile suit on the Gundam Wiki. And in discussion with Tate he's asked it to be equipped with EXAM instead of HADES, and I said 'sure' with the caveat that it'll come up as part of the story later, considering that EXAM is powered by pure evil in a can the captive soul of a Newtype.
I mean, I'm going to go with the idea that it's not common knowledge that's a thing, so our characters likely wouldn't be aware of that right away - which makes it an interesting plot point to deal with when it comes to light.
Ok I got my guy up for review

He looks pretty good - only thing I would ask is if you could edit the character sheet for formatting; just sort the underlining and bold out for the titles. Looks fine otherwise though
Eager for Characters
@vancexentan I can run it with just the four of us well enough if need be. I'd prefer more, but that's a suitable amount to make things work, as long as people are fairly reliable. We can always play multiple characters as well, or something like that.
No worries, there's no rush at the moment to get things started, and I tend to run things in a fairly relaxed manner as far as urgency goes any way. Just pop me a message whenever you can, and I'll get back to you
@ReedeThe23rdNo problems with not following exactly to the sheet, Vance didn't either and his character is fine. Yours hits all the main beats and has all the information we/I need on there, and that's what matters.
Really interesting character, I can see a lot of potential for him to get involved in some really interesting character conflicts, and the potential for some friction between him and other members of the unit, which could be good too.

Also regarding the Nemo as an older mobile suit, that could be interesting in itself - a good pilot in an older unit can still be devastating and effective, as seen in Gundam Unicorn and the attack on Torrington. Plus there's always the potential to upgrade if you want to at a later date... and it's just kind of cool having someone use an older unit and keep up with the others as well. I think it's a neat character trait, and is very typically 'anime' as well.

Short history/personality blurb:
Callie was born in 0063 at the Side 4 colony cluster. Too young to serve in the One Year War, she signed up for service with the Earth Federation Forces. She became a mobile suit pilot, and served dutifully, before gaining experience in combat during Operation Stardust against the Delaz Fleet. Claiming her first kills in combat, the speed and flexibility she showed in the battle marked her for distinction.
As the Titans rose to prominence, Callie found the increasing authoritarian and strict nature and policies of the organisation she served becoming alien, and more and more of the officers and comrades she loved and respected being replaced by cruel, greedy, and self-serving individuals, who abused their positions of authority. On the cusp of rebelling as it was, along with many of her squad-mates, the exposing of the Titans nature and actions lead to her unit rebelling, under her lead and command.

Her later actions in the first Neo Zeon war lead to her promotion to a rank of more responsibility. She also resolved merits for service and recognition for her actions using her space-modified Zeta Plus C1.
She was injured during the closing days of the war, and her recovery was difficult. To recover from her injuries fully, she had to spend several months healing outside of a Mobile Suit cockpit, and was instead restricted to light duties.
Following this she later returned to normal duty, albeit with a slow transition back into a combat role. She was given command of a patrol section as part of a squadron deployed to patrol federation space, and provide general security duties. They rotated between Earth and Space during this time, giving Callie vital experience in operations inside the gravity well.

During the Second Neo Zeon war, she earned her reputation and a command promotion during actions against the Neo Zeon under Char Aznable. Her Zeta Plus once again distinguished itself, and she gained her nickname and recognition, Gaining the name 'Black Thorn', she leaned into the name and had her suit custom painted black-and-purple.
Too far away to assist Amuro Ray with repelling the plunging Axis asteroid, she and her unit instead put their energies toward assisting suits caught in Earth's gravity and hauling them to safety, while also holding off and destroying last-ditch fanatical elements.

After this incident, her unit were placed on second-line duties to recover from injuries, losses, and damage, mainly carrying out guard and garrison duties, as well as routine operations and training. Down on manpower and mobile suits, they were glad for the break, and rotated between Luna and several sides, before being temporarily stood down in order to be re-equipped with new mobile suits and pilots.

Her unit were rapidly recalled during the Laplace incident, intended to be re-equipped and put into action to counter the actions of the Sleeves. The incident was mostly over before they could respond, but they were involved in mopping up Sleeves remnants using their new mobile suits - including Callie's newly repainted and removed from storage S-Gundam.
Following this crisis, Callie was tapped for leading the Anthem task forces' mobile suit squadron in the field, alongside other members picked for the unit due to their experience and skill.
@Silverwind BladeAs an avid Gundam fan as well as Macross/Robotech, Space Gundam V is easily one of the most fun bootleg shenaniganry things I've had the pleasure of seeing.

I have never had the pleasure(?) of seeing it myself, but being a huge fan of Macross/Robotech (probably more than I am of Gundam), I have come across it's mention numerous times, and it's pretty infamous, as you say
Ahh, that's cool! I love bits of trivia like that, and it's a neat little in-joke too.
I'm going to have to find some ways to work in a few references myself, not least of which dropping the name Space Gundam V in somehow.

Time to get to work on my character and start working out where to start the game too. I won't start anything until we have more characters up, of course.
