I could pull your leg and say it's a red string of fate, buuuuut in reality it's just a pice of string I'll be using as a physical link between you and me.

That's because this portal I just opened is actually several portals squished together between a bunch of dimensions. Until I navigate my way through this mess and give a tug on the string, you'll have a pretty low likelihood of being able to follow me and an exponentially larger one of getting spit out into some random dimension instead.
