Catherine woke up to the sound of her alarm thrashing through the inside of her skull. A flick of her wrist sent a forceful gust that pushed the clock off the nightstand to fall on the floor, quieting it. Disheveled and groggy, she sat up on the edge of her bed, her foot pushing into the glass on the floor, clinking against the bottle. Is this what her teaching career was going to be like? Pretending everything was fine in the morning, and drinking herself to sleep at night? She ran her fingers through her messy hair, and then pinched the bridge of her nose in a futile attempt to stop the throbbing pain. She had thought that Jordan's presence would give her just the right amount of the familiar to make her feel at home and at peace, not dredge up past regrets memories of a failed relationship. She couldn't let herself be a wreck every time she ran into him. She hoped that going forward, they'd both just put on their professional face, and treat each other with the right amount of cordiality and distance. She'd give the previous night's incident a pass, after all, it wasn't like he had meant for her to see the name on the gun, and it was the night run, so he was bound to get a little wild. She smirked to herself a little, remembering just how wild he could get.

There was nothing like flying at top speed at high altitudes through the crisp morning air right after a steaming hot shower to clear away a nasty hangover. Though she was dressed in her usual professional white blouse and pencil skirt, she had let her hair flow free; she needed to let her hair dry, though the real reason was she just needed the feeling of being free and unshackled, unbound. Heading to the roof of the building to check if any intrepid wind students were seeking tutelage, she saw Kanako standing there, and gracefully floated down to her. "An eagerness to learn is an admirable trait, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a teacher," Catherine started.

Whoops, I forgot to make a simultaneous Catherine post with my ShiZhen post.

I'll get that up soon at some point, and Catherine and Kanako can have some one-on-one.

ShiZhen woke up in the infirmary, her extremities stinging from the frostbite. She flexed her fingers and wiggled her toes to confirm that there wasn't anything wrong besides the pain. With a shaky arm, she reached over the the nightstand next to her bed to put on her glasses, seeing Lyra in the bed next to hers. ShiZhen bit her lip and fought back the shame welling up in her heart.

The events of the previous night had been a blur. She remembered being unable to free herself from the freezing water snake. She remembered that despite the hopelessness of the situation, Lyra had stayed to help. She remembered the cold and the darkness encroaching upon the both of them.

"If only I could control my element," ShiZhen thought, "Then maybe we could have finished the race, then maybe we wouldn't have missed classes...then maybe Lyra wouldn't have been put in danger..." ShiZhen noticed the pamphlet on the table and read it idly. "At least we didn't miss classes," ShiZhen thought. Placing the paper back on the nightstand, ShiZhen flopped heavily back into bed. She didn't want to get up. She didn't want to be at this school.

ShiZhen sighed. She needed to learn how to control her element. Before it was for her own sake; the inconvenience of always becoming wet randomly really put a damper on her everyday life. But now she felt responsible for what had happened to her and Lyra. Climbing out of the bed, she spoke with the nurse and got herself discharged. Taking a look back at Lyra's sleeping form, ShiZhen renewed her resolve to learn the art of water, even if it meant confronting the scariest individual she had met at this school thus far.

ShiZhen found herself heading towards the training pool in the on-campus hot spring. A short journey to the headmaster's office, the only water elementalist teacher she had met so far, brought he face-to-face with a note of the Headmaster's whereabouts, which led her here. Still, if he was in the hot spring and actually bathing, it would be prudent not to just waltz in and catch the man naked. "H-hello?" ShiZhen called from the entrance to the pool, "H-headmaster Hargor? I was wondering if you had some time...to give me some pointers..."

Sorry for the typo on Himitsu's name, that wasn't intentional, so let's just pretend it didn't happen in the IC. It's out-of-character for Lexus to not speak exactly.

Shoooot I almost forgot about RPG. Anybody know how to, like, have the site email you if there's a notification? I'm a bumbling forgetful idiot sometimes.

RPGuild used to do this before the fall. It's the one thing I keep hoping they'll re-implement.

For days they traveled, and whenever the gods slept, Lexus Dominiel, the sleepless machine stood sentinel. It did not question their need for sleep, assuming that it was merely part of their ploy to act and behave as mortals. For the most part, Lexus Dominiel did not speak unless spoken to, though it offered assistance and servitude occasionally.

Many of the gods' conversations were above Lexus Dominiel's ability to comprehend, phrases like 'game', 'menu', 'builds', no doubt referring to some metaphysical allegory. Though Lexus Dominiel was immune to being charmed, 'Danielle's' presence made Lexus Dominiel uncomfortable, only because she was a god of the darkness. Lexus Dominiel pondered on the necessity of evil, but acquiesced that the wisdom of the gods was not to be questioned.

Upon arriving in Brightwing, Lexus Dominiel turned to December and Danielle, "My Mistresses, if you have no immediate need of my servitude, it would be my desire to investigate the religion of these mortals to ascertain whether they follow the True Path or not. If they do not..." Lexus Dominiel clenched it's disguised, mail-gloved fists in righteous indignation, "...I will refrain from punishing them without your permission. I will leave them to their folly and hope they repent in due time. Mistress Himiko, as a priestess, I'm sure you, no doubt, would also like to know about the religion of the land."
I'll be traveling for a few days and may not have time to respond, so leaving Michel alone at the aquarium is probably for the best. If anyone goes to the aquarium, then please be patient with me.

Michel Montmartre (Shine City Aquarium)

Michel frowned slightly, afraid that his boring talk of city finances was scaring the visitor away, but felt that something else was troubling the man. But when the man replied saying that he'd come back again, and that he 'd like to see Michel again, in the dim blue glow of the tanks, Michel gave him a delicate smile. "I'll be here," Michel said, almost promised, mysteriously, as he watched Fenton leave. "Well, guess my eyes are adjusted," Michel thought to himself as he got up off the seat and checked his phone again for any job updates. Looks like guest wifi isn't working in the crustacean room. With a skip in his step, Michel headed over.

"Michel," he introduced himself, taking the man's hand lightly and shaking it. Michel didn't mind being called 'miss' and saw no need to correct him. He appreciated how the man put some thought into the maintenance of the aquarium; some customers felt entitled to maintaining their sense of 'wonder' and took offense at finding out about something's inner workings. "I don't think we're supposed to understand them, but I see them like a...goal...I suppose that's silly, who wants to be a jellyfish, right?" Ethereal, beautiful, and genderless, Michel felt a primordial awe for these unknowable, ghost-like creatures. But what Fenton said about the piranhas made Michel feel a little sad inside. While there was nothing wrong with piranhas doing what came naturally to them, there was something wrong with humans exhibiting piranha-like behavior, and the fact that the horror of that has become what Fenton gravitated towards was worthy of sympathy.

"This is my full-time job," Michel replied smiling, "There are a few other maintenance personnel, but since the equipment is high-quality, it's a lot less work. Thankfully, Shine City has plenty budgeted out for educational facilities and infrastructure, so we do have it pretty easy." Michel mentally chided himself for talking about city planning, of all things. He had a terrible habit of answering people's questions in 'too educational' a fashion. The man just wants to look at some fish, not hear about where his taxes were going.

Michel looked around the room with a pouty, slightly-bored face, his arms crossed behind the back of his head while he reclined, leaning back precariously in his cushy conference room chair. He smiled as Commander Shourichi began to speak; she was everything he wanted to be, cool, confident, and sexy. Some of his caretakers said she was a bad influence on him, but they didn't say more than that since he needed to obey her as his commanding officer out of necessity, and they didn't want to be implicated for promoting insubordination. But the more he admired her, the more rebellious he was becoming. In fact, there was hardly anyone on the team who was a good influence on Michel, and it had been the administrations vain hope that at the very least, he would be one component they could control, but that hope was very quickly slipping out of their fingers the more time Michel spent with his fellow pilots.

He did notice however, Hazel signing and decided to bring attention to it. "Ms. Stoll seems to have some concerns!" he said, as if he was a student raising his hand to give the teacher an answer. He smiled at Hazel, as if expecting some sort of thanks, but then extending this smile to the other pilots seated around.
