Coloured dialogue is one of my biggest pet peeves in this forum and the primary reason why I would skip an entire post by someone. IMO there is no good reason for it. Books don't need it. Major sites with stories don't need it. The writer and the reader should be able to tell which character is doing or saying what and to whom. If the writer needs to keep track of what's going on in their own post, thus they use colour, do it in their own word doc or on whatever they note their stories down.

I agree to this to some extent, because it does make sense that if the writer is able to put across the exchange between characters well the reader should be able to differentiate the dialogues without the need for color-coding.

Personally I don't care much for colors but I get irked when some rpers bunch dialogues of different characters into one massive text dump in order to give their posts a faux Advanced level look - I get that some would feel pressurized by the GMs' "number and size of paragraph" requirements, but color-coding is NOT an excuse to get away from horrendous paragraphing.

I do like when posters use the @username function to draw attention to a possible interaction. It's like forming a thread that makes the divergent storyline easier to follow.

In a large group RP I admit this is pretty useful, but in 1x1 I prefer my partners to refrain from doing this - not only will this clot up my notification tab and it's really unnecessary (it's only 2 people!), the other reason is similar to what you have said about colors - you don't "tag" anyone or anything in the book and on most other writing sites. Especially if it's in the middle of the IC, it breaks my reading flow and pace.

Profile

Pale petite-built and standing at 151 cm (roughly 4'11"), Cera's humanoid form is what humans would call a "child-like" appearance which does not reflect the true age of the ancient Levikyrian race. She is described to have long, light-pink locks that go all the way down to the knee, ruby-colored eyes as reflected in her middle name, and pointed ears that gives her an elfish look, an understatement to what she's truly capable of. A fraternal twin of Nove.

• Destiny Perception
  Cera has a limited form of this ability - that is, she has no whatsoever control as to how and when she's able to get a glimpse of the future, and she can only see her own fate. She's also unable to change the outcome of whatever she has foreseen.

• Planetary Destruction
  
  • Life-Force Absorption
  The Levikyrians are a parasitic alien species that live by feeding on the life-force of other planets and natural satellites. Once they deplete the life-force of the planet, this usually leads to the planet's annihilation and erasing its existence from the planetary system. In short, they are almost like a personification of a mini black hole. This ability is constantly active and it's not controllable.

  • Consciousness Transferal Possession
  Cera is able to transfer her biodata into Sora's body via the dream he had when he first met her, but this is a one-off ability as she can no longer leave his body to possess another being. Also, this possession is limited - she can converse with Sora within his mind through inner mental projection, but she is unable to take over the mind of her host.

  With a destructive power comes a god-like skillset that it's worth hunting for - not only are the Levikyrians being chased across the galaxies with an astronomic bounty on their head for being walking time bombs, they are also highly prized for their ability to bend reality, to rewrite the laws of the world however one sees fit. Unfortunately, this power is so great that even the said alien species themselves are unable to control at will - it's rumored that the last queen of Levikyra unintentionally blew up their homeland simply because she got angry at her cheating husband.
  In Cera's case, she is able to perform a one-time ability/power creation and bestowal - that's how Sora acquires a StarRider, because it's virtually impossible for an Earthling to possess one without going through major cybergenetic modifications. In most instances, due to using Sora as her vessel and coupled with her randomized reality-warping power, she often causes accidental manifestation of whatever Sora is thinking or feeling at that particular point of time, either to comedic effect or putting him and the people around in needless danger.
