Slowly -- but surely -- coming back from a long hiatus.

Better known by the name of Tsu. An "advanced" roleplayer with at least five years of experience on/off. In real life, he is a college student studying in Asia, majoring in design-related fields. Outside of this site, he's also a hopeless poet and an indie writer currently working on his first book (as and when he has the time and inspirations to write something). He is also active in the Harry Potter fandom through participating in fanfic competitions/challenges and building connections with gift fics.

INTP; a Pottermore-certified Slytherin but identifies himself as a Slytherclaw who is both witty and ambitious. Considers himself a Denpa Otaku -- a fan of animanga, visual novels and JRPGs, and he's as opinionated about what he likes and dislikes as every other fan out there.

(Totally not sorry at all that I was thinking of this when you said coffin.)

(Or maybe something like this?)

Anyway, I was thinking that since it's hollowed-out inside, it can act as a storage of some sort - that is, anything pulled out from inside can be the weapon, not the coffin itself. So if you want it to shoot dirt, stone pillars or even vines, then maybe those have to be kept inside the coffin first before they can be utilized? Of course, the shielding part makes sense tho'.

Originally I thought you might go with spear or boots since in certain fantasy works they can be attributed to the earth element (otherwise spear can go with water using Poseidon's trigon as reference, and boots to air if you think of Lenalee in DGM), but coffin is sure an interesting idea.

Ryu had pretty much answered the basic gist of the issue regarding recurring elements; now that I'm fully awake, I shall do my job to elaborate further on what we the GMs have discussed, and also some thoughts I have:

1) Recurring Characters i.e. Cid, Gilgamesh, etc.
While they may appear in almost all of the games so far, these recurrences do have features that change from one game to another or things that make them unique and easily identifiable to a particular title, which you should be taking into account as you develop your miniworld.

2) Recurring Creatures i.e. Moogle, Chocobo, Cactuar
For this, please check the Terminology section in the IC tab.

3) Recurring Summons i.e. Bahamut, Alexander, etc.
We have decided to employ the "temporary contract" system from XII and Type-0 rather than allowing players to /own/ the summons permanently as seen in Lightning Saga: your character can call them forth via a Summoning Ritual by offering something of similar/equal value before they can lend you their power for a limited time duration, after which the summons will return back to the void they're originally from. As for their appearance, to avoid unnecessary debate just think of these summons are nothing but shadow silhouettes while retaining the basic form to tell them apart from each other e.g. Alexander = castle, Odin = demonic knight on a six-legged steed, etc. If you reeeeeally want to go into the details, you can assume these shadows can shift their look to the character's understanding (something like how the Greek goddess Aphrodite constantly changes her appearance to appeal to those who set their eyes upon her).

EDIT: I've added these into the FAQ.

MORE EDIT: An add-on. See below.

4) Recurring Weaponry i.e. Excalibur, etc.
Regarding character's weapons (or equipment in general, including accessories and whatnot), I'm not expecting you guys to stick to the game system literally where your character has to grind up the level and swap out a new weapon each time; as mentioned in the CS Form, you are only required to list down the equipment and abilities unique to the character you're playing (read: your character's signature weapon, power or whatever that define/specifically associate with your character, not those common stuffs that are obviously recurring across all the games).
I know we're not supposed to reserve characters, but can we name what characters we're considering? I don't want to spend hours on a CS to discover that someone else got the same character's CS up before me.

EDIT: never mind. I guess the answer in that question was in the interest check

Well you can name and you guys can discuss among yourselves to avoid overlapping the characters you want to take up (and I'll pretend that I didn't see anything) but the point of not allowing reservation is that we want to get the right players for the cast and not let those who join on whims to kill off this game before it can even begin.

Hope people can understand where I'm coming from.

I'm already pretty lax with the IC part so the filtering has to be stricter on the CS. ^^;
For the first two points you don't need to worry too much from me - I'm a patient person (I feel it's a give-and-take especially with my schedule); as for the last, you can always use the @mention and I'll get the reminder in my notification tab (but don't abuse the system yeah? :P). If you want I can do the same to you.

I hate to be pressurized in RP, so I'm glad we're on the same page with regards to this.

Just realized I made a mistake in my previous post. I've corrected it to 'Lost/Air'.
I'm rather amused that you thought of coffin for Earth, but how do you intend for that weapon to be utilized?
Chain is flexible like water, so I say go for that! :)

Hmm, good point. Originally I want to go with a combo dual blade but I think twin daggers is more practical.
Oh, look a Kaito fan!

Well yeah, I do like Kaito as much as Luka, Gumi and IA - wait, that's about all the Vocaloids I actually like. Oh well.
(Gakupo V3 deserves a mention especially if it's tuned well. Plus his PVs are actually not bad.)

Detective Conan/Case Closed - the premise of this one is that the main character, Kudo Shinichi, is force-fed an experimental drug by a mysterious criminal syndicate. The drug shrinks him down to a seven-year-old in body, but not in mind. Shinichi has two main goals: don't let anyone know that he's Shinichi, and find the syndicate and take them down. Unfortunately, there's the problem of murders literally happening wherever he goes. Good thing he's a detective, huh?
As for why I like it, the characters are well-developed, the murders are plausible but not too gory, there's a good bit of humor to counterbalance all the death, and the writing is well done and realistic.
(Also worth noting is another anime that crosses over with DC sometimes - Magic Kaito. It's about a magician thief who targets gems, seeking the gem that caused the murder of his father so he can destroy it.)

Another detective/murder mystery manga I would recommend would be Kindaichi Case Files. The cases are much darker than Conan with highly intriguing setups.

Mobile Suit Gundam (Char's Counterattack, Build Fighters, Wing/Endless Waltz, OO)
Gurren Lagann (Spelling?)
Hajime No Ippo
Sekirei (debatable there are some who are put off by the fan service but further in it gets better)
Baka to Test
Black Lagoon
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzimiya (movie)
Hero Tales

Oh Sekirei. The manga is rather slow (feels even slower since it's a monthly release), but from third stage onwards things do get a little more interesting.

I couldn't finish Baka to Test - not a fan of the yandere girls and spineless boys dynamic.
I prefer Unbreakable Machine Doll, where at least the male lead would punish his yandere doll (not the dirty kind, mind you) when she went too far.

For Haruhi, I pretty much gave up on the light novels after Disappearance (which is the 4th book). The first was the best, but the subsequent volumes fail to impress me.
Dude. Enough with the bumps. Be patient, give the GM and Co-GMs time to iron things out, these things take time.

Thank you for the understanding. As Ryu had said we're swamped by RL work so it took us longer than expected to get everything done.

And yea, really want to make this a success on my first try as a GM, so been working really hard on top of my sickness from the haze. (And I'm still owing posts to my 1x1... *headdesks*)
On the contrary, I get annoyed with RPers who make me feel that this is no longer a hobby, but a business job with tight deadline - basically making me feel like RPing is a mirror to the shitty RL I have to go through 24/7. I'm a very patient person because I usually ask the same from my partners, so it's a give-and-take - to me, RL takes priority over online leisure, whether we like it or not. I have no problems with people who need more time for themselves; if they lose the drive to continue and wish to drop out, just tell me and I'm not going to start a drama because of that (dropping out is solely for 1x1s - in group of course anyone would get grumpy).

So long as you communicate with me, I won't bite you at all. I'm a pretty laid-back person and I do respect your personal space as much as I'm fierce about protecting my own freedom.

I don't know about the rest but I'm here to take a break from RL, not to experience RL all over again - this time virtually. Putting unnecessary pressure on me would most likely cause me to lose all the initial interest I had for the RP, and eventually I'll have to drop it to preserve my sanity.
I'm definitely a creeper. I'll read lots of RP threads IC and OOC but I never join them. I may even talk OOC sometimes even if I'm not a part of the IC group.

I guess my only explanation is that I don't have any confidence in my own writing to will myself to join a group RP. The one's that I truly think would be perfect for the kinds of characters that I would like to write out, usually end up dying and abandoned anyways.

The trend of starting an RP and then everybody suddenly just dropping out (because reasons) is another factor that severely limits my want to join a good group RP. I watch it happen far too often. That and people can be very mean-spirited. (Ignoring characters, over-controlling, taking OOC drama into IC. I could go on for pages, really. I've even seen GM's vanish.)

I do enjoy writing and I enjoy watching writers grow. That is an experience I think that is unique to roleplay forums and I like to see it happen in real time reading RP threads that I'm not a part of.

A part of myself wishes that I could join in on the fun, but at the same time I'm too scared to.

^ This.

For me I avoid group RPs because I cannot keep up with speed-posting or overly strict posting timetable that makes me feel like RP is no longer a writing hobby but a horrible business job with a tight deadline.
