Slowly -- but surely -- coming back from a long hiatus.

Better known by the name of Tsu. An "advanced" roleplayer with at least five years of experience on/off. In real life, he is a college student studying in Asia, majoring in design-related fields. Outside of this site, he's also a hopeless poet and an indie writer currently working on his first book (as and when he has the time and inspirations to write something). He is also active in the Harry Potter fandom through participating in fanfic competitions/challenges and building connections with gift fics.

INTP; a Pottermore-certified Slytherin but identifies himself as a Slytherclaw who is both witty and ambitious. Considers himself a Denpa Otaku -- a fan of animanga, visual novels and JRPGs, and he's as opinionated about what he likes and dislikes as every other fan out there.

First attempt at a romance-ish RP. Wish me luck -- and make be sober over how I can only have fictional girlfriends.

Not like Apple is any better, either. Well, competition is fierce and they are too fixated trying to get their profitable gain float on top of all their opponents to care about the (petty but important) complains from consumers to actually improve their products rather than in a hurry to roll out new (but defective) stuff every year.

Other than the little hiccup with the girl called Irvette, the rest of the lesson went smoothly without further fuss. Everything was going well so far... Maybe he would be able to live a normal human life even with this cursed condition for eternity. Still, he knew he couldn't be complacent and let down his guard yet. Keeping the vampire's natural thirst for blood in check would be a struggle he had to deal with for the rest of his long, immortal life. Also, he had to be wary of those who were like Irvette, with observation skill too sharp for their own good.

For one, he had to hold back his insane speed and strength - gathering up his books as slowly as he could, and trying to blend in with the other students as they all walked out of the room. Everyone around him seemed to be occupied with their own friends and personal commitments to spare a thought for him.

Today was probably a good day for him. Even better that he didn't have any classes in the afternoon, which meant that he had the rest of his day off... away from the humans, and do some hunting to silence the itchiness in his throat.

He continued his slow stroll out of the university grounds and headed to his car - a typical Subaru model. He had decided against going to school in a sports car, since he didn't want to attract any more unwanted attention on him, on top of his... ungodly appearance. Slipping into the vehicle, he reclined back into the leather seat and let out a sigh, when the mobile in his pocket vibrated against his thigh.

He pulled the phone out, his brows furrowed at the message:

Bet you're near your limit. Also, bears are in season.

Toby scowled. While he knew he wasn't stable enough to be left alone, but this overprotectiveness from her was rubbing the shadow of his rebellious, human teen self the wrong way, making him feel a little suffocated.

...Damn it.

Hidden a little way in the coniferous forest on the outskirts of the town, the Subaru car pulled up before a white modern cottage. Toby stepped out of the vehicle and looked up at his... home. With his only family from hereon.

"...How long are you going to stand there gaping like an idiot?"

He was snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of a stern female voice. His sight fell on the willowy figure of Meg Yazawa at the door, with her arms crossed before her chest. He blinked, and she flashstepped to stand right in front of him. She was at least a head shorter than him, clad in figure-hugging dark green jumpsuit.

"A-Ah, Meg--"

"It's rude to call your elders by first name," Meg commented with narrowed eyes. "After all, I'm your lifesaver, and the only one who can guide you through the darkness to find your light."

Toby averted Meg's stare. "Sorry, sister."

"Sister? Shouldn't you be calling me 'Mum'?"

Toby frowned at the lady. "You look too young to be a mother, even if you're... Nevermind," he trailed off, realizing what he was about to say.

Meg gave him a smirk, then turned around to walk back to the house. "I'm not so petty to get angry over something trivial as age, when time no longer mattered to our kind." Glancing at him from the corner of her eye, she added, "Let's go and get some dinner... before the night falls."

Toby scratched the back of his head, annoyed. Meg was as cryptic as ever - he wondered how much she had seen living for more than a century, to make her give off such an indifferent air in her manners and speech.

Would he become more like her as time went by?

Then you are reading with the wrong type of RPers! ;)

Lol.

I should clarify that I'm not against back-and-forth style. Sometimes players need a break from collabs to do solo writing to develop their own characters in some ways, but in scenes with heavy actions or dialogues, back-and-forth isn't great with the flow.

@Crumbs
Dat green. Mah eyes. T_T
@shylarah *mega-glomps back*

RPing has helped me to improve my writing - specifically characterization. It's only when I collaborate with other writers and allow my characters to interact with other player characters for me to experiment, to test how well my character can work in settings that are not in my control. The rest is like Shoryu has said, to see how well I understand, how fleshed out my character is. It's just like interacting with people IRL. In fact, we can see real life as a RP game itself: we're playing the roles of our own self, interacting with others we cannot control, and the GM being... someone up there. XD

And... I am a huge fan of collabs, largely because of me being more used to novel-style writing, so the reading flow and rhythm in a post is very important to me. I find a lot of back-and-forth writing feels choppy and awkward to read, and I understand that in RP god-modding and whatnot are generally frowned upon, so collab help to smooth out the flow while allowing various players to move their characters accordingly without going into those forbidden tactics.

Good to know... If I had an interest in writing a story outside of mine, or I actually had enough of my notes sorted to be able to work on drafts for my story, I'd likely be taking on that challenge monthly.

Actually, NaNo is an annual challenge and specifically in the month of November, but you can also go for Camp NaNo which happens twice (one in April, and the other in July), which means you can take up to three challenges each year. :)
Playing GodEater 1.
It feels like a more refined version of FreedomWars hmmmm, just a little less chara creativity

^ This reminds me that I need to do something to complete God Eater 2: Rage Burst, lol.
@Gowi has made me realize that I can never compete anyone when it comes to fan collection of the things they enjoy. The only complete collection I have for anything is the full set of all seven Harry Potter books, and that's about it. The rest of the stuff I own are scattered items across various media and franchise: a standard grade model of Gundam Virtue I got it for free during the 30th Gundam Anniversary fair held in my region some years ago, odd volumes of the collector's copy of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle manga I got for 100 yen each in Japan last year, and a few other random stuff I forgot where I kept them, lol.

...Well, I don't have that much money to indulge myself in such personal trophies on top of my essential daily expenses. I'm just a poor college student. XD

As for "elitism"; it's been brought to my attention over the years that this term gets tossed out very haphazardly. While I don't agree with elitism, people have tried to use the label on me in the past for no reason outside of my dislike of people who lack conviction or don't show any class. These are the types of people who would call a GM an "elitist" for not letting them into their role-play, or the types of people who would call us "elitists" for not tolerating those idiots in the "bitchfest" thread several days back.

Well, 'cause they are sore losers who can't choose their battle wisely.
As the Ancient Chinese saying goes. "There will always be another mountain higher than this mountain." There are always someone better than ourselves, so let's not get carried away by our own inflated, swollen pride.

But honestly, no one is absolutely right or wrong about things in this world - I mean, what exactly is the right answer if we don't know the context to derive at that conclusion? In a RP, the GM has the final say; in the society, the majority or the one with the highest authority has the final say. Anyone can challenge them only if you're prepared to face the consequences for doing so, rather than calling people names when you don't have what it takes to face defeat.
