Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

@A Lowly Wretch: Just to clarify, you should probably post first. ^^; Since if I do it you'll lose your chance.
Assassin

Cautiously, Assassin kept her blade at the ready, trained on Rider as she did. But it seemed as if this would be the alliance that they would pursue... if Assassin was being frank, she wasn't quite sure she liked it. The manner of Rider's attack, while the warrior himself seemed to be an honorable one, rubbed her the wrong way... but she would comply with her Master's wishes. That was the best path forward, and it meant that her Master would be safer, as well. At least for the moment.

Wait...

Now that Assassin wasn't focused on a fight, she immediately detected a presence atop a nearby light post.

Without a moment's pause, she darted back towards her Master, gaze fixing upon the location from which she felt the presence!

"Master! There's another Servant here!"

Konpaku Youmu

She'd already recognized, by the way that her opponent held himself, that he was intensely skilled with a blade. But now he had shown additional capabilities to that. Not only was he skilled with the use of a sword, but he also possessed the ability to use ice as his weapon... Indeed, he was following up her own blows with a strike of his own! But the heir to the Konpaku family's techniques wouldn't stand by and allow herself to be defeated by something like that!

Youmu's hand flashed to her sheathed blade, and she drew Hakurouken just as swiftly as she drew her first sword, deflecting the attack! It had been a surgical strike, one aimed to disable her hands and force her to drop Roukanken, but now she wielded both blades! The small, pale girl leaped back, out of range of her opponent's weapon for a moment, and while he recovered from his initial strike she darted in with both of her katana at the ready, striking out at him with a flurry of blows!

Abigail Williams

Ah... it hadn't been a direct hit, but Abigail could tell she'd managed to hurt the bad lady! It was a little unpleasant, seeing the way that she'd taken a chunk out of the woman's arm, but it wasn't anywhere near as unpleasant as the idea of letting her hurt any other innocent people... nodding firmly to herself, after seeing a vehicle knock the woman further away, the little blonde girl swiftly made her pursuit! Her barrier of tendrils faded away, but before she reached the pale woman she had suddenly snapped back to her feet! The strange woman wound up with her sword over her shoulder...

And Abigail yelped in surprise when she fired a beam of flames and blood from the tip of her sword, only barely managing to evade it at the last second! With a wave of one of her overly-long sleeves, the Foreigner Servant cast a swarm of balls of light towards her opponent, which promptly surrounded her and exploded, knocking the woman off her feet. Now, there almost seemed to be strange, bloodless holes in her form, perforating it on her left side, but she was still coming!

Lights appeared around Abigail's body, glowing tendrils emerging from them to lash out against her enemy!

Caster

If Keisuke or Eleonor were hoping to have a serious first meeting where they could learn about one another, they were sadly mistaken.

"Oh, so we have a new Master?"

Skuld seemed to materialize from no-where, stepping out from behind Keisuke(at least as far as anyone could tell). She immediately stepped towards the newcomer, looking her over in an appraising fashion as as she did. After a few moments of this examination, she determined that this was someone worthy of her attentions.

Perhaps moreso then Keisuke. In fact, definitely moreso then Keisuke.

"Mmm, and a beautiful one, too... fufu~" a grin crossed the Caster's face as she approached the new Master, "I am the Great Elven Queen, Princess Skuld, summoned as Caster!"

She cast a sly glance back at Keisuke, before returning her focus to the new Master.

"To be frank, I think you're much more interesting than Keisuke," she continued, with a shrug of her slight shoulders, "Did you know he wouldn't give me any attention at all? Even though I'm one of the greatest seductresses of Norse Mythology!"

She let out a huff, placing her hands on her hips, before leaning towards the new girl and smiling.

"Of course... I'm sure you have far better taste, don't you...~?"

@A Lowly Wretch: You get a general idea of where it went.
@A Lowly Wretch: You can't lose them, but they can be taken. You'll have some awareness of that fact, though.
@A Lowly Wretch: Hex Orbs can only be broken by other magical girls. It's okay if you do that, but Naoko is Tsukimi's friend so be prepared.
Saber

Perhaps, normally, Saber would have been drawn to the idea of dinner. After all, the food of this time was so excellent... that, and after the experience they had in the singularity, a meal seemed like an excellent idea. Fenrir, such a great beast... she had only been able to slay it in a single blow because it was stunned. That, and the nature of the singularities themselves... who was responsible for such a thing? So far, it was impossible to discern. Whoever it was had access the the Holy Grail... not only one, but many, that they could distribute just like that. On top of that, the corruption that had overtaken Brynhildr was something wholly unnatural. That black mud, seething with red...

But on top of that...

Illyasviel von Einzbern. The daughter of the woman who had once been in her charge. Somehow, she had been summoned here as a Servant. The King of Knights couldn't understand how such a thing could have occurred, but undeniably it was the case.

She hesitated for some time before deciding to approach the small, white-haired girl.

"... Illyasviel...?"

When Hikari landed on her feet, her entrance was made somewhat less impressive by the fact that she wasn't quite prepared to compensate for her hammer's bulk, and stumbled forward before getting control of herself. As she did, she managed to take another look at her transformed self, now that she'd taken out one enemy magical girls. The hammer... the back of the head, the dragon-shaped part, was billowing smoke. She'd heard a crack, like the sound of a firework being launched and exploding. Was that why she had suddenly gone rocketing through the air so quickly? Had the back of her hammer worked like some kind of rocket booster?!

If so, that... that was kind of awesome...

But she couldn't let herself be too distracted!

"Ah?! Uh, a marble? What? Why would there be..." she shook her head. It sounded important, so...!

Naoko sighed.

"Aah, man, it was so cool I lost track of what I was doing," she lamented, apparently not too dismayed at being stuck in a hold beneath the monstergirl. In fact... she was starting to grin.

"Well, enough laying around! Let me show you the Blazing Blood of the Oni!"

Suddenly, an intense, unbearable heat began to radiate from Naoko's body. Her skin began to glow, an overwhelming aura expanding from her... there was more than physical strength to Naoko's reputation!

"You wasted enough time staring at the ground on the way here that you should already know all about the local plants," commented Sophie, with a huff and the folding of her arms. The healer was utterly incompetent when it came to dealing with other people, ad also somewhat naive in general. How different could the plants and animals possibly be when they were less then a day from the guild? The sun was only beginning to set!

For that matter, the swordsman was overly cautious, at least in Sophie's opinion. They were to be exploring an underground complex, it would be dark regardless of the time of day. She wasn't exactly in the mood to sit around and waste even more time waiting for it to be morning, she hadn't brought her camping equipment anyway and didn't fancy the idea of sharing a tent with any of the workers around here.

But the other matters were curious. What was in the ruin they'd been asked to investigate that required adventurers, and why was a student in charge of such an important dig site?

"Eh-heheheh..." Kiri placed a finger to her cheek, "Er, as far as I'm aware, nothing around here is particularly unusual. As far as animals and plants go, I mean. It's only a few hours away from Venne after all."

She paused for a moment, a little uneasy after having been asked so many questions so quickly. Especially after the drider's comments.

"... Er... w-well... Ah! Miss Leynanniel, er, has it right," she said, nervously fidgeting as she spoke, "Professor Archibald, um, shortly after discovering the new ruins he suddenly declared he had other matters that needed his attention and ran off... he's doing that a lot, really..."

Before she could continue, Sophie interjected suddenly.

"I don't see why the time of day should stop us," she asserted, "It's an underground ruin. It's going to be dark and dreary during the day just as much as it will be at night, isn't it?"

The purple-haired girl really didn't want to be delayed any longer than they already had been.

"W-well, all that's up to you," commented Kiri, shifting from one foot to the other, "But, well... it's strange. Professor Archibald believed this ruin was concealed with an illusion, and... as you might know, the last ruin hidden with an illusion had undead inside of it."

That certainly explained why they'd wanted adventurers brought in.

"On top of this, we're fairly certain it's a crypt of some sort, which means the presence of undead is even more likely," the mage student added, "I wish I could say more, but there's still so much we don't know about these ruins. We still can't tell for sure if it was even elves who built them. I-I promise, I'm not hiding anything."
