Aether Sign: The Sun (Wind)

Aether Abilities: Hector uses the wind element as a way to increase the effectiveness of his hand-to-hand fighting style. Faster punches, higher jumps at different angles, blocking an enemy move at a distance, that sort of thing. Hector isn’t the type of fighter who can make a tornado appear out of thin air or who relies on his Aether, but the magic is certainly useful.

Personality: Hector is a very no-nonsense, disciplined man who values strength and hard work. This is not to say that he is an unkind individual, it is more of the fact that Hector has seen a lot in his life and he doesn’t have patience for people who don’t want to help themselves. Related to this, he is also very blunt and to the point.

Hector is a determined man as well, wanting to make something of himself as to not have to live in poverty like he was before becoming a Diver. He is not quite sure what being completely successful looks like yet; he just knows that he wants to be successful, and to do so means taking on bigger challenges and acquiring more wealth.

History: Hector grew up as an orphan in the capital city of Galma, not having a clue about his origins beyond the fact that he was abandoned shortly after he was born. Growing up, he didn’t have a lot of friends, he was moved around from house to house and life was very tough. The areas he lived in were not safe and the older kids in the orphanage liked picking on the younger ones; Hector soon learned that he would have to fight back if he wanted any peace.

Through a combination of constant exercise, training, and fight experience on the streets Hector created and cultivated his hand-to-hand street fighting style that allowed him to survive and thrive in the world he grew up in. It was not the most pleasant world though, and Hector knew he wanted more out of his life. What that was wasn’t certain, however, until the then-16 year old found a flyer for a Diver job. Instantly seeing the appeal of this, Hector took that and whatever jobs he could get after that. In time, he would create a niche for himself as a fighter for Diver teams. Now with some experience under his belt, Hector continues to seek greater challenges and wealth in the sea.

Gear: Hector wears a belt that helps him control his Aether Abilities and the usual rebreather, but otherwise his fighting style is hand-to-hand, so he doesn’t need much gear.

@DruSM157 glad to see the OOC is up! I'm working on the CS, which is mostly done. The hardest parts will be thinking of a name and choosing a picture. I'm looking forward to this!

Good CSes in your thread (I skimmed it). I have an idea for a character, so hopefully the CS will be ready soon so I can see if my idea would fit in with the roleplay.

The OP can correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that the magic people can use is only wind and water, but the weapons enable other kinds of magic to be used.

I suppose no talking Pokemon makes sense, in a way - I just figured in a world where Pokemon are rarer, some people wouldn't say no to a Meowth or Detective Pikachu-like companion.

The roleplay concept is unique, I'll just have to think and see if I can think of a character idea for it.

Interesting that you post this because I had a kind of similar idea a day or two back, although that was more along the lines of all the humans disappearing and the Pokemon making their own society.

Anyway, a few questions:

1) How do trainers have Pokemon if there aren't a lot of them around? Do they just get lucky and find them or something?
2) Is this area separate from the rest of the world? Meaning, do places like Kanto and Hoenn exist, and if so are they in a post-apocalyptic state as well or are they functioning as well as ever?

Besides this, the idea I have so far is for a talking Pokemon of some kind, perhaps a mutant due to the environment. Would that be acceptable to RP as?

Pokemon: Coming of Age

I might be interested in this since I've wanted to do a Pokemon RP for a while. It does seem a bit overly structured though (I prefer RPing battles as well), so we'll see how it goes.
