Jeremiah was feeling it, like a giant clamping its fist around his skull and squeezing. He didn't want to be there anymore, he didn’t want to be anywhere. Jeremiah just wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there, but he had a job to do despite the withdrawals. He tapped his foot and thought for a moment while biting his lip. He swore to himself and shouted “I-I’ll be right back, I have to go get something real quick!”

He mustered what energy that wasn’t sapped from the drug and sprinted towards the vehicle. He ducked his head into the cargo area, leaning so only his legs were poking out. Jeremiah started rummaging some of the spare containers, making noise. He quickly popped a pill in between opening and closing a tin for effect.

He swallowed hard, his throat dry from the withdrawal, then he winced, ready for the spasms. A slice of him was glad everyone was preoccupied with their own business, if only, he added, if it was less serious business, then perhaps the tinge of guilt he felt about prolonging the rescue only this much might be gone.

What thoughts he was having were quickly interrupted by a hoarse gag. He started to shake, and gag, and eventually he went into a full on convulsion. His head felt like it was about to pop. A twitch launched him forward and he banged the back of his head against a metal wall of the cargo hold. He bit his lip, summoning a little red dot around his tooth.

The convulsions went on for a few minutes, and when the were done, he shot out of the cargo area, tools in hand. With renewed vigor and a head that was light and fluffy with ecstasy, he practically charged the ventilation control panels. In mere moments he managed to reconfigure the grid, allowing for the intake vents to continue to provide fresh air, while shutting off the one particular vent fans needed for the large alien man to get through.

Jeremiah slammed the panel shut, accidentally ripping it from its rusty hinges in a rush of extremely enhanced muscle. He dropped the metal sheet and gave a thumbs up, “all good!”

Mor Of The Altenia Tower

Those that were working in the Mor with Ailen could find nothing out of the ordinary. Everything seemed fully place. All the people currently stationed to the Tower were alive and accounted for in their proper locations. Even those off shift were located. The ones that were working the mines and had been sent home for the day before everything happened were back and all had checked in. Video tapes were reviewed but still nothing showed up but it did not mean that someone didn’t do anything; it just meant that whatever may have happened was carried out in a place where the cameras were not functioning. Sadly that was not a short list of places. Thanks to Tristan, more than half the Tower was without proper surveillance and only the most needed places, such as the Mor and the Infirmary were fully covered.

The only things the tapes revealed was that the Twins were in their seats before the cameras went out and were in the commissary when they came back on. The third in command of the security division walked into the Mor after checking a few things out and headed over towards Ailen. “Sir,” Felme said as she pulled him aside. “Perhaps we are going about this wrong,” she suggested as she looked around for a moment. “Something like this would have taken time to put together, it’s not an overnight operation. Perhaps the target was the mine itself, not Silvia?” she said in a hushed voice. “Maybe she is just collateral damage?”

Outside The Crystal Mines of Altenia

Lou continued looking over the rescue efforts and was glad to see that the Jun’Krama was willing to go in. At least if something happened down there the man was physically strong enough to do something, perhaps if he could find Silvia, together, they could get back out. Turning he saw Jeremiah come back and nearly tackle the control panels and perked a brow. Something seemed off but it wasn’t something he was going to worry about right now. They had bigger problems at hand. Once the fan for the unit were turned off and rerouted elsewhere he gave a nod.

“Okay big guy, hold on to your breakfast, this can be a little jumpy,” Sephro warned as he checked to make sure the Jun’Krama had the gear he needed to get into the mine. Taking a step back a purple translucent orb began to form around the Brax’Na leader; once it was stable Sephro took a step forward and drove a fist into the air as the Jun’Krama was lifted up quickly. As he approached the opening Sephro opened his hand and the motion slowed until it stopped in front of the ventilation and pushed inside it a few feet to make sure Jun’Krama was safely inside before releasing his mental hold on the orb and it fading from around him.

“Okay, secure your anchor to the outside of the wall and make your way down. It’s deep and there will be a drop to the ground into the mine shaft itself once you get past the fan. Be careful in there,” Lou called out from below and gave him a thumbs up as he chewed on the end of cigar before turning his attention back to those down there.

“Back to work, we still need to get that mine entrance opened and secured. Moles, I want alternative exits in case that one gives away. Find a plan C,” he said before walking over to Marx who was sitting down now and taking a well-earned break after everything. “Keep calm kid, we’ll get her out.”

“Yeah, before or after the next cave in?” Marx quipped as he stared at the ground.

Ailen sighed and nodded. "I would like to hope that the mines were the target but I dont know.... Perhaps both were. The mines being the main target,.... Silvia just being Collateral.... But why would the mines be targeted?.... GTC is only on this planet because of the mines right?... Why else come to a dying planet. So who would gain at blowing it up..." He then shrugged. "Alright,.... Lets take that avenue,... I mean we still have to find those responsible. Whether she was the target or not. Terrorism has occurred here no matter how you look at it. If only all our cameras were up... The clues would likely be in those spots..... Perhaps I just need to sit down and relax." He said...... He sat down and looked towards Craig sitting down next to the Twins. Maybe they had nothing to do with it. They could be playing with the idea that he hates them. Well not hate,... Just dislikes.

He looked over at his desk and saw the pendant he was working on. He then got up and moved over to it and grabbed it and the tools and proceeded out. "Going to go relieve Craig. Maybe he will find something ,or not.... I dont care anymore. Whoever planned it out planned it good." He said. Plus his paranoia just got him in a hole. Oh well whats been done is done. He took the elevator down and began to think of the whole situation. Why did I become security again?.... Once he got to the commissary. He approached. "Alright ladies lets head back to the Mor. Hope the soup was good. Prefer the instant stuff really. Then again I can't cook worth shit so maybe thats my problem." He might as well do the job he was given. He wanted to help out more then just watch the twins. Maybe they wanted this. Knowing how he disliked them. Perhaps they preyed on it and they wanted him gone so used his weaknesses so he would do something stupid and get himself transferred. Well plan worked. One less person to worry about. He sighed as the depression kicked in. " I need a psychiatrist...... Maybe this arm isnt doing its job and I am going mad." He mumbled the last parts.

Back at the mines. The moment Karras was set he moved in until suddenly a strange urge came over him. He then moved to the side of the vent and threw up a bit. Damn,... How do the talents not want to throw up after that. Then again maybe they did and just swallowed it. He began to move within the vents going deeper and deeper. He did not like this place. It gave him a bad feeling. Why did this shit have to happen. Why now,... Things were just now getting better. Now this.... It seems as if it aint one thing it's another. He drew out his sword for comfort more then to use. He just told himself not to swing at the first thing he saw. Silvia was the only life sign though.... So why did it give him the creeps. It was the crystals,... It had to be.

Altenia Tower

Felme looked at Ailen oddly and quickly reminded him of their military position as well before turning and going back to her work as he left the Mor and she assumed control until one of her higher officers returned. As Ailen came over to Craig and the Twins he leaned back a bit; just having finished his meal and nodded. ”Ailen, do you think Silvia would have done anything that would cause you harm?” he asked telepathically. ”I truly am beginning to think that you don’t think very much of her at all. But if you are worried, just trade out the shard for your own if you don’t trust her,” he added before turning to the Twins.

“Well it was a pleasure as always ladies but I must get some rest. Ailen will take care of you from here on out,” he said before giving a nod and making his way out. The Twins following Ailen back to the Mor. Craig went to his quarters but instead of going to sleep he began rerouting the security down to his room so he could monitor as well as review what they had on file. Something was off. Then something tugged at the back of his mind and he started pulling up records of people that shouldn’t be in the tower or even on the planet right then. He started checking those that were on vacation and began to call in those that watched dock twelve since it was off the cameras because of Srath using it. He trust Srath but he wasn’t always in dock, perhaps it was there he could find something out.

Mines Of Altenia

Once the Jun’Krama had cleared the vent shaft and was in the mine itself the rock face gave away and came crashing in. Thankfully a large stone blocked the opening at the bottom and it was the only thing keeping the entire vent shaft full of debris from crashing in on top of him. The collapse caused the mine to shake and now with the vent shut there was no light. Silvia gasped as she felt the vibrations and held her head for a moment, letting the hum of the crystals die down before she dared to move again. Taking a deep breath she risked a little more light from her hand but she saw nothing. It had felt like it had happened a good way away from where she was.

“Hello?” she called out, wondering if the rescue teams could hear her but no, they wouldn’t. Nor would the Jun’Krama, she was too far away even with the echoing created by the mine shaft walls but something in her gut told her to walk a certain direction. Or was it? Something in her mind perhaps? She didn’t know but she pushed forward and kept walking. The only light in the mines was that coming from her hand at this point and she knew she shouldn’t use it unless she truly needed it. Lowering her hand the light faded and she began to move at a slower pace though the mine, one hand on the wall and one held out in front of her face, though neither gave off any light at this point. It was more to help her keep from running into a wall.

Outside The Mines

Everyone froze when they heard the cave in ad the puff of dust come out of the vent shaft. Marx groaned as he got up and dusted his hands off. “Apparently after,” he said looking over to Lou before he took position back at the mouth of the mine and began to move beams into place. “Come on people, this place isn’t going to hold for long. Now we have two to rescue,” he added as he worked.

Lou looked over to Sephro. “Readings?”

“Two life forces sir, one big, one small. About half a mile away from each other but closing in. So at least they are alive,” Sephro quickly spat out as he scanned the face of the cliff again.

“Okay people, we certainly need plan C now and a plan D just in case, get on it!” Lou ordered of his Moles.

Its me I dont trust,... Not her. The damage to my head was done a long time ago. The orange crystal probably did the rest sense it dont have to be a black to make mind go out.... I dont know. Maybe I am just feeling defeated. Sorry about manipulating you.... Was not entirely my intention. Just wanted to give a cool as speech if self sacrifice before I die. Got a feeling this planet will be the death of me. Its claimed my arm and my sister. Maybe it will claim the rest soon. Hopefully not. he replied then he looked to the charm he made from his old crystal and wanted to hand it to Craig but he left. I suppose I will just put it in her room. Want her to have it. Wont belong before Craig puts in my transfer.

He looked to his arm as he escorted the twins back. "Man the T&C think sure is a nice trick.... I need to learn how to do that. Might save my life some day...." He said. Not to them particular but to himself. "Wish my sister was still alive. She would have liked to have meet Silvia." He looked over his shoulder at them. How did Tristan coax them onto his side. Everyone hates him. It did not make sense they would... Maybe Tristan aint the one in control. Maybe they are and they are manipulating him. There goes me, being mister paranoia. Fucking Tristan,... He did this to me. If he didnt fuck up with the people I wouldnt be so distrusting. "You two ever watch a earth movie called The Shining?" He asked. I am glad my depression hasnt brought me to wanting to kill myself. He smirked.... Well I did starve myself soooo I guess I am at that point.

Karras found himself staring at the ceiling where he had fallen in. "Well at least no one was around to see that happen." He felt around for his sword and he found it. It was pinned to his leg. He felt to see how bad it was and smiled. Good at that spot it shouldnt be movement hindering. He yanked it out as he bit down. He then rise up and put the sword away. He looked up and couldnt see shit. He couldn't see anything. Only feel. "Is anyone in here?!" He yelled. He then wished he had a torch right now. He sighed trying to see if his eyes could adjust some but he still could barely see. He began to move and feel with his hand until he reached the wall. He then decided to go back towards the entrance.... Or atleast he hoped he was. One hand feeling in the wall the other in front of him.

Goal 1 find Silvia in the pitch blackness of a cursed mine. Goal 2 get out of said mine. He had been traveling down for awhile until he hit his foot on a rock and winced. "Oh for the love..." He said as he kicked at it. He then kept moving. It was all he could do. After what seemed like half a hour his hand touched something in front of him. It felt like hair and then he could feel someones forehead. He felt her hand touching him right breast and he shivered at the cold touch. "Please tell me thats you and not some ghostlike banshee." He said his hand still clasping her forehead. Good thing she is small. Or this might be awkward if his hand touched some where else.

Slamming the button hard with her fist the yellow floor lights came on. As soon as the crew noticed the lighting, cheering and yelling came from the floor. "Docking bay is secure. All personnel to leave the area immediately." More cheers came from the floor as the rush was over it was a mad dash to the local watering hole. For Ashala she would spend the next few hours finishing reports and notifying captains they would have to wait for tomorrow. Putting her hands behind her head when that was all done she looked at the dock. It was quiet. She never liked it quiet. She decided to have a look at the mornings progress for herself. The dock chief did this the usual way by jumping and climbing over the freight. This was also a good warm up before going to the gym and feeding her muscles. After the inspection Ashala stopped by her room to change for the gym.

Ashala removed her jump suit and wore her gym clothes. These were baggy shorts and a sports top. She also took a symbol of her ancestry for inspiration. At the gym she started with some cardio to increase her heart rate. She did laps on the track as the chief picked up speed her method shifted to a quadruped. This went on for an hour then came the weights. Ashala would always push herself until she could barely stand. The Altenian would continue until her arms were so sore it hurt to make a fist, until her abs hurt to breath. Then she would jog back to her room for a very rewarding soak in the bath.

Never understanding the need for bubbles she would lounge in the tub relaxing to the very warm water. Her hair unbraided and loose around her. This was the best reward for her. The other rough necks were no doubt having a few drinks to their good fortune of an early day. They would be slower tomorrow. Quietly the Altenian rested in the water closed eyes, listening to her heart rhythm she complimented the sound with her own soft purr.

Deep In The Mines

Silvia kept fumbling around in the dark, stumbling from time to time and at one point falling as she tripped over a large rock in the middle of the cave. Grumbling she pushed herself up and spat out the dirt that went in her mouth. “Fucking hell,” she said as she wiped her mouth with the back of her sleeve. Taking a deep breath she placed her hand back on the wall and continued on her way. Suddenly in the darkness she felt a warm firm surface against her hand about the same time she felt like someone had grabbed the top of her head.

Her hand sliding down the surface, feeling the hills and valleys and suddenly she yanked her hand back as she heard someone spoke and it dawned on her she was feeling up a very masculine chest. She didn’t blush though; something in her didn’t cause embarrassment in her but a very different reaction as she realized who it was from the voice.

“Jun’Krama?” she asked as she lifted her hand and placed it on his that was on her forehead before pulling it away slowly. “Banshee? I dunno, depends on how you see me,” she responded. “What the hell are you doing down here?” she said as she stood there, still not removing her hand from his. Her other hand lifted and began to glow; dimly at first and then brighter until they could at least see each other, trying not to blind him with the light.

Altenia Tower

”It is going to take a lot more than that. Perhaps if you were more concerned about what mattered than giving some grand death speech you would get something done besides digging yourself a deeper hole,” Craig responded from his quarters as he kept going through the manifests of people on vacation and slowly trying to track each of them down.

The Twins shook their head at Ailens reference as they sat back down in their chairs and looked around for a moment. “We wouldn’t know, we didn’t know your sister well. We don’t know if she would have liked her or not.” The then looked at each other before trying to access their crystals. “Why can’t we use our crystals?” they asked in unison as they both turned too looked back over to Ailen.

The Mines of Not Moria

Karras sighed in relief. "Your friends sent me in through a vent that was supposed to hold my weight but it didn't..... So I broke my ass on the floor and sword stuck my leg." He said. "Besides we are immune to the crystals who seem to be active." He said. He then looked around them.... "We aint leaving the way I came so lets get moving... I really dont like this place. "

He then touched his breasts and rubbed it. "Are your hands always that cold?" He asked. His wound had already stopped bleeding and he felt the coolness of the cave licking at it. I am stuck in a cave with the tower lead and we have no where to go.... "That Ailen should be down here not me.... "

The Tower

Ailen turned to them and with no pause or hesitation he answered. "Cause I get depressed and cant keep my mouth shut thats why" he said letting the depression he reached to feed his words. He then sat down and began writing on a small piece of paper and set the charm on it. The piece of paper saying 'For Silvia'.... getting to turn off those crystals was a good idea. If only you could see the confused look. Hope your having better luck then I did. He sent the message to Craig and looked over at the twins nearly laughing. Well at least I get to enjoy a little something before I get transfered.

Deep in the Mines

Silvia let go of his hand and perked a brow. “Funny, no they aren’t,” she said as she placed her hands to her face. Even with the chill in the air, Silvia was beginning to feel over heated. “Do you need healing?” she asked as she fanned herself somewhat with her non light projecting fingers. “Last thing you need is blood loss down here,” she said as she unzipped her Crystal Singer uniform and slid her arms out of it, revealing a sports bra underneath as she rolled it down and tied the arms around her waist.

What was revealed was different than most would expect from a talent, especially one as small as Silvia. She was well toned underneath and definition. She was not bulky by any stretch of the imagination but it was obvious that she took care of more than just her mind unlike so many others of her ranking. Turning her attention back over to Jun’Krama she perked a brow. “Why would it be better if he was here? Honestly rather have someone down here with me that doesn’t have to worry about the side effects of the song and doesn’t go looney when dealing with me,” she said as she looked over at his leg. She saw the cut and perked a brow, it had stopped bleeding. That was odd, a wound like that should be bleeding still, especially with walking on it.
“Fucking hell, why is it so damn hot in here,” she muttered to herself. She felt cold to the touch, like any would in the cold mine but for some reason she was feeling rather over heated, not something she was used to. “You know what; just hold still, I’ll heal you. Don’t worry I won’t tell. We don’t want that opening back up.”

The Mor Of Altenia Tower

The Twins looked at him oddly, very confused by his statement as both their heads tilted to the side at once. “What are you talking about?” they asked in unison. “Can you fix it, we need to be able to use them if something goes wrong.”

”Actually I am, I found two of our lower security members that are supposed to be on vacation but they never left the planet but I cannot find them anywhere in the Tower. Thing is they have never been assigned to the Twins or to Tristan. They are dock security. It doesn’t make sense,” Craig said to Ailen as he kept going over the information he pulled up on his screen.

Karras rose a brow.... "Its not that hot to me.... Feels rather cool actually." He said then looked about. "You dont think it might be the crystals do you?" He did not know really. He was only guessing. Silvia was the expert. He watched as she went to heal his wound. Well this awkward. He looked around and wondered..... "Some of these parts are unexplored are they?.... Maybe there is something down here your reacting to.... "

the tower

Ailen shrugged at them. "Sorry can't they've been locked down so I cant do shit.... Besides T&C has been canceled what could go wrong that you would need your crystals?" He asked. They almost sounded worried. Why would they be worried. They know the T&C has been cancelled they where there when Craig gave the order. Very peculiar of them to act this way. They were very confused and perhaps that is all it was but it was just odd they would react this way.

Hey Craig,.... The twins are acting weird. Wanting me to fix the fact they cant use their crystals 'incase something went wrong'... I mean the Black Crystals are strictly there for T&C stuff and with them canceled what could go wrong that they would need it?.... Two security officers assigned to Bay 12 are some how involved but there is no reason for it. I expected some from the Mor. Well maybr Silvia isnt the target. What if the mine was?. What would they gain from it being out

He didnt know either. It was all very odd and confusing. Perhaps they needed to take another route. Craig was on a roll and then a wall. That has been happening for awhile down here. Perhaps you should try harder to locate them. They got to be somewhere,.... Then again a talent couldnt pull off the explosion in the mine because of the crystal. Maybe they are not here because they set it off? he asked. He was fresh of ideas.

Deep In The Mines

Silva knelt down and placed her hands gently against his leg where the wound was, the light faded for a moment before it was replaced with a soft red glow that grew in intensity. He would feel a warmth from her hands and it would slowly spread through his body as the leg was healed. Slowly the light faded once again and was replaced with the darker hued glow she originally had lighting their way as she removed her hands. The cut was healed and no scar was visible. Rising she looked over towards him and nodded slightly. “There good at new, don’t worry our secret,” she said before looking around once again.

“No, it isn’t the crystals. Too much of a hum could be dangerous to me but that would be a different feeling. This is something else,” she said before looking over to him. “Maybe I am allergic to you,” she said with a smirk. Turning back the way she came. “Well it is and it is not known what is back here. It’s a long story that I will tell you later if you ever trust me,” she said as she began to walk through the tunnels, increasing the light some so that he could see as well.

“Oh and there are two more bodies down here,” she said as she continued to walk, trying to figure out where she had been and where she hadn’t but since she traveled in the dark before they found each other she was sure she was refollowing old footsteps. “So anyways. Why are you down here. I know you said my people sent you but I can hardly believe that you would come down here forced.”

Altenia Tower

”You know the more and more I look through everything the less I am thinking it was the Twins. I am not saying they aren’t up to something but I don’t think they were involved with the mines, they aren’t exactly that type. I could see something happening devious in the tower but not something as clumsy as a cave in,” Craig answered as he continued to look over the files. ”But keep an eye on them and make sure those crystals don’t get accessed. I will let you know if I find anything else,” Craig said before he went quiet once again.

“Craig, Lou here. Now the Jun’Krama is caught in the mine with Silvia. We have scans after a second cave in. They are alive and it seems they have found each other but other than that we are stuck on how to get them out. Entrance seemed to be about half way cleared out. If they can’t find another exit then it will be at least another four hours before we can get in. It’s too dangerous to try another vent shaft,” Lou said through the com.

“Right, okay. Thanks for the update. If you find anyone else down there that doesn’t belong let me know. I have two security officers on vacation that never left the planet but we cannot locate them.”

“On it Craig.”

”Ailen, Jun’Krama went into the mines. He is with Silvia now but there was another cave in and they are both trapped currently. But she is alive. Hopefully she will have answers. Right now it looks like it will be at least another four hours for extraction,” Craig said to Ailen to keep him up to date. Hopefully knowing she was at least alive still would keep his head clear. Though maybe he shouldn’t have mentioned who was in there with her. Too late now.

Karras

He sighed and was trying to figure out how to explain it exactly. "Because if anything bad happens to you my people go back to starving. I may hate the idea of a woman being in charge, but your a large upgrade compared to Tristan. I dont want that man incharge. My people have suffered enough because if that man." He explained. He then thought of another reason she is getting all hot. Her teasing of being addicted to him made him laugh.

"Perhaps it was touching the chest and abs of a real man that is getting you all heated." He said chuckling even more. The woman was pretty toned though. Not as toned as he but still. She was toned more then most of the talents. "Well that explains why you nearly knocked Tristan out..." He said pointing to her body. "I find that it is smart to work your body and mind. Most of the talents only focus on the mind not the body. Then they wonder why they have no energy to spend even on that." He said. He even felt his hand going down to touch one of the said muscles just to feel the hardness of it. Yeah this woman has been working out. He respected that. Ailen himself was kinda toned. "Between you and Ailen,... I think I can respect you two more then anyone at that tower...."

Even the size of her breasts showed that she even ate healthy. "Maybe we become good allies." He then stretched and yawned. He felt strangely relaxed now. He couldnt tell why. Maybe it was because he was with her. Plus two bodies were also located according to her. "We will have to yank them out as well to see why they were down here in the first place.

The Tower

Ailen leaned back in his chair and nodded. Good,... Now I know she is in good hands. If anyone can get her out of there he can. To be truthful he didnt like it. He just decided to hold it in. He was going to be transferred out anyways. It was best perhaps she went with him and stayed in his string arms. Ailen had only the artificial arm to rely on strength. In many ways Karras was more able to.

He did feel a little Jealousy towards the situation. This time he wasnt going to fuck thus one up. He looked to the Twins and sighed. Maybe they were not involved and someone was using them under the assumption that they where in league with Them as part of a distraction. He looked back at then and rise a brow.

Well at least she is in safer hands then mine. I couldnt even protect my sister.. Perhaps when everything is back to normal and I get transferred out things wont be too bad with her being protected by him. he said. He didnt want to be transfered but it was going to happen.

Mines Of Altenia

Silvia perked a brow slightly, the GTC did not have a lot of information on the Brax'na but what was there clearly documented their dislike of talents and women. Sighing she tucked a piece of hair begin her ear. "Jun'Krama, why do you dislike the idea of a woman in charge?" she asked as she looked up to him. "I understand that I am better than Tristan, but so is a cockroach."

She couldn't help but smirk slightly at his comment about the reason she was feeling over heated was because she had touched a real man. "Oh is that it?" she asked before feeling his hand reach out and touch her her skin, her hand reaching down quickly; slowly stepping towards him. "So then what's your excuse?" she said in a coy voice as she rose a brow before slowly removing his hand from her body. As he mentioned Ailen she quickly released his hand and turned around as she began to walk again.

"Yeah, the bodies are that way, half under a landslide," she said pointing down another tunnel. "But it's a dead end that way." As they turned she leaned against the wall slightly and brought a hand to the side of her head as the hum of crystals became stronger. "We need to go that way," she pointed as she closed her eyes, trying to fight off the song of the Crystal.

Altenia Tower

"Ailen, I think I may have found something. The two security never left the planet but they did leave the tower two days ago. Once we know that Silvia and Jun'Krama are safe, we will need to launch an investigation down at the mines. Hopefully the ones there now will be able to answer some questions," Craig said before leaning back in his chair and running his face.

"I want you do something while we wait for word. I want you to watch the recording of your surgery. I think there are somethings on it you need to see," he added before going quiet. Maybe if Ailen saw how worried Silvia was while she worked he could clear his head about some doubts but then again Mayne the suggestion would just make matters worse. Too late now. It was out there.

Karras's Pecs

Karras sighed and he looked back at Silvia. "Why do me and my people dislike an idea of a woman in charge?" He repeated not expecting a answer back at all. Looks like it was story time in the cave of crystals. It never mentioned in their file that there tribe used to be bigger, a lot bigger. "I guess we never told the GTC why we did,... we don't disclose our history to outsiders. I suppose I can make an exception with you." He moved over to the wall and leaned his back against it just for a second. "The reason we dislike women in charge, is long past even my time our people were nearly wiped out. What your looking at now on this planet are the surviving generations of those people. We were huge in size, we had about thousands or more people and a bigger village. Until the day that all came to a screech halt as one woman ended our days of glory."

"It may have took a woman like you coming here to save my people, but it also took someone like you to almost destroy our entire civilization. We were strong we were proud,.... and all it took was a woman on her period to almost wipe us out." He explained. " He then rose up and looked in the direction she pointed. It was as if the crystals them selves where helping her out. Maybe they hated Tristan too.
There wasn't a single thing on this planet that did like that man as far he knew. "This planet is nearly dead because of that woman, so you can understand why we are fearful and don't like them when they are in power." He pushed away from the wall and then scratched a itch at his side.

He smirked even more as he thought of her communicating with crystals as they seemed to tell her where to go. What was leading her down here and then he had to chuckle. "I wonder how pissed your GTC would be if you synced with every crystal in this place?..." He then began to head in the direction of the way she pointed right before patting her on the head. "Despite the story, you seem alright, even got me considering on changing a few things in our way of life. That maybe not all women are bad. The Gwen seemed to react in a supportive way. I sometimes think it's our pride that stops us from achieving anything. Even the use of some technology,.... its funny our pride makes us hypocrites..." He gave a little chuckle at that. "We dislike technology and refuse to let it play a role in our lives, but we have... we use and touch the tech in this mine so that the GTC will help us survive. Sounds like to me we let technology play a big role in our lives."

He did not know why he was being so informal to her about his thoughts on everything but he liked talking, better then them trying to survive this in silence. "To be honest,.... I think the whole GTC corporation is stupid. I mean Tristan is here because no one likes him, but they need him to run the tower. There are plenty of talents like your self to replace them, why they hadn't already is beyond me. They want a tower here because of the crystal and perhaps something else that is very important. They did not send him here to help kill the planet." He added. Then again he did not like GTC in general. He never trusted it despite the help it provided it. They all seemed like snakes with many heads. You can never trust a snake.

The Tower

Are you trying to make me hate myself? I don't need to watch the recording,... well not now. Maybe I will in my quarters. I don't want the twins to suddenly get a peak at to what crystal they put in this arm. They may not be behind it but if they don't know that a member of a race who is sensitive to the black crystals has a shard of one in his arm the better. I already hate the idea that I will soon be leaving this place due to you going to transfer me. By no doubt Silvia was worried about him, why else would she help him. She couldn't have loved him after what he pulled. Then again perhaps she does still, maybe there is some genuine love still in there some where for him. It would explain what occured the other night. I know she was worried and that she cares about me deeply, last night proved that. What a great night that was. Glad to have experienced it before I die even if all we did was hold each other and stuff. Before you ask no we didn't do it. I still feel that this whole event, that his world will claim my life at some point. The depression was at its high this time, he felt a little afraid at his words. He did not want to die or be transferred it was just a gut feeling that he would leave this world somehow. Either by Craig transferring him or in casket.

He looked at his arm once more and began to marvel at it. He then looked at his tools and then back to his arm. It was a work of art, it would be a shame if people did not know who the artist was. He smirked as he turned down the cutting tool just enough to skin the surface. He carved her name into and when he was done he nodded. He kept a watchful eye on the twins. What if their paranoia had them looking at the wrong talents. Tristan is guilty in it no doubt, he is to blame for everything might as well blame him for the explosion too. I would enjoy investigating the mines myself if I wasn't confined to watching them. We being talents though I doubt we could go in there for too long before one of us got mad. Wait a minute.... his arm injected something into him that made him able to use a shard of a black crystal with no problems what so ever. He was able to sync with it. Even a shard of a black crystal is powerful in its own right. It was smaller then his orange crystal but dwarfed it in its abilities ten fold. What if the device in his arm would keep the mine from making him go mad?... not that it matters because he couldn't dig his way into that cave.

You know a thought just came to my mind. There is a device in my arm that is blocking off my sensitivity to a shard of the black crystal.... now we know that even a shard is more powerful then any regular crystal which is why my people can use any other crystal just fine. I wonder if that device would prevent the mine from making me go mad, I mean unless there is a black crystal floating around in it I doubt it. It's been what how long sense we dug one up? Perhaps I can withstand it. I would like to help you out just one more time before I am transfered. If only you can come up here and relieve me I can give it a try,... then again the cave in would be a problem for testing it out... god I need a vacation. Maybe when this is over if you decide not to transfer me, I still think I need time off planet. I have not had a vacation in such a long time that I most likely need one. He said as his depression seemed to make him feel even worse. He was going to start talking to a empath after this. On planet or off planet.

Deep In The Mines Of Altenia

Silvia took a deep breath as she slowly leaned over, her hands on either side of her head as she tried to listen to Jun’Krama, the song of the crystals in this part of the mines was a bit more than she had run into thus far. It took a fair bit of time before she let out a cough and slowly straightened herself before leaning back against the cool surface of the mine shaft itself.

“Sorry about that, it comes in waves down here,” she said as she pushed her hair out of her face. Slowly the words he said began to sink in now that her mind was able to clear itself. “So all this hatred stems from the actions of one woman, in one moment in time, long before you or any can remember?” she asked rhetorically before she looked over to him. “You know, in the ancient history and stories on my planet we have something similar, actually we have many. Most all of the genocides or waste of the planet came from the action of men. Some magical, some not,” she said before looking away.

“People over the millennia have blamed the horrors on the gods, sometimes the men, sometimes the talents. I could never understand it. Why carry all this animosity towards a single race or gender…. Or talent because of the actions of a select few. Everyone is different,” she said as she slowly looked over towards him. “It would be like me hating you and your people just because non-talents tried to use talents for their own personal gain a thousand years ago. I see no point. I’ll let your actions speak for you instead of the actions of the past predetermining how I should,” she added before pushing herself off the wall. “Pride is a dangerous thing.”

Clearing her throat she laughed slightly at his mention of bonding with the crystals. “I would hope that never happens. That is why Singers go mad. It isn’t the song that so much drives them insane but it can play a part of it. The resonance plays tricks on a mind open with talent. Their true madness though comes from the separation from the crystals. Each crystal they mine and cut they partially bond with. Something that happens to Singers and only Singers. When they sell the Crystal the bond is broken. The smaller crystals it is a mere inconvenience, though larger ones it can be like losing a friend. The most powerful ones, the large black ones, it is akin to losing a child. A Singer can only take so much mental anguish.”

“As far as the GtC goes, I don’t trust many either but that is another story for another time though I do notice you didn’t answer one of my questions,” she said as she perked a brow. “When you touched me, I asked what your excuse was. Is pride keeping you from answering or something more?” she said as she turned and continued back down the tunnels.

Altenia Tower

”No, I am not trying to make you hate yourself, you do far enough of that. But I think there are certain points you need to see. One is what went into that arm, the construction and workings. She explained a lot to Marx as she worked. I think it may help you better understand that new piece of hardware. The other is more personal yes but not to make you hate yourself. Perhaps it will help you accept yourself as you are; like she has,” Craig said as he rubbed his temples.

”You can wait to watch of course but it is something you need to see. As far as the mines go, it just backs up what I am saying about watching the recording. She clearly states it won’t help with any crystal but the one in your arm. It wouldn’t let you run a tower. So it won’t protect you down there. As far as the investigation goes, I will lead that. I still want to transfer you, I doubt you like the idea but you have not been yourself since she arrived and with the way things are going I can only imagine it will get far worse. If I can’t trust you to not fall apart constantly you are more of a risk than an asset. Even if the transfer is not permanent I agree you need to get off world. Perhaps Earth would be a good starting point.”

The Tower

He did want to watch the recording,... But he couldnt while the twins where there. He decided to do the one thing he could. He pulled up a small datapad from his pocket and plugged in his headphones and found the recording. Ge then pressed play and turned to the side to watch them. As he listened to each bit he began to look at his arm. He would touch each piece that he could as they talked.
He then sighed,... Sorry Sil it looks like I will be getting transferred. Perhaps she would prevent Craig from doing so see as his arm was so unique that no one but her can work on it. Maybe if he studied the video he could do his own repairs.

Found a problem with you transferring me,... The arm is her own recipe. If i get transferred and it breaks or gets damaged Im fucked. You sure you watched it? Anyhow perhaps I can study the video and learn how to fix and repair it on my own when the time comes. Especially if Earth is where you plan on sending me. It will most likely get worn out there. he said as he listened. So,... With the crystal and that I wont need an aid of a crystal to jump. Interesting. Plus from what she says I might even be able to learn a few tricks. Now if only this shift would end he could practice on his floor. He then took a small peak at the black crystal as he opened the panel. He watched as the energy poured around it. It seemed to give a purple hue and he began to marvel at it's beauty. It was wonderful, and this shard was a piece off of Silvia's crystal. He smiled as he looked at the glow. He touched to fingers to his lip and then touched the crystal before closing the panel. He figured he would need to build a new arm to use. One he could use for physical work why this one he used to practice with until he mastered it.

I could jump without the aid of a crystal... I wonder if I could do a T&C like Sil and the Twins did... He was going to try it. Once he had time. He would do it right now, right here. But there were too many objects and people. Although there is a spot over there that is free.

The Mines

"You are the life line to my people. Yes anything is better then Tristan but can you name a single person in the GTC that is just as much of a risk taker as you?" He asked. Then it dawned on him what answer she was looking for and he had to smirk. "Oh.... But that aint the answer your looking for is it?...." He said. The L word was really important to some. For Ailen and for her. "Besides I am a little scared as to what Ailen would do to me if I had the chance to save you and didn't." He answered. He then sighed... "You know the times I saw Ailen he was always so sad. When I saw him after he meet you he had changed. Starting to think you have that effect on men. Maybe your effecting me the same way right now. Maybe I will end up stripping right here right now in the desire to have you to myself... I mean I could do that.... I mean with the crystals hindering you in a way I could take advantage of it." He said. He was even failing at holding the laugh.

"All joking aside,... I dont know why I volunteered myself. I just did. Funny thing is, I didn't even hesitate. Maybe I see myself a lot in you and it makes me like you. I dont know."

Outside the Mines of Altenia

Clive looked around from on top of the Mines from his scans and to the sky, cringing slightly before he grabbed the rest of the Moles attention and pointed to the skies. They nodded and one by one they leapt off the edge of the cliff and jumped, falling down towards the ground far below, various colors of telekinetic shields forming at their feet as it slowed their decent until they landed at the base of the mine entrance.

“All talents clear out! Incoming!” Clive screamed. Lou whipped around and looked up. “Get the hell out of the entrance of the mine talents!” he bellowed as he grabbed Gwens arms and threw her into one of the Mole Vehicles. “Brax’Na, back out now if you value your lives!” he added asw he climbed in and the rest of the Talents that had been helping, including Marx quickly took note of what was going on and made a break for it.

The Brax’Na group was confused at first but one that had worked the mines before knew what was going on. “Brax’Na, back!” he yelled and they followed his orders as they began to run from the mines. A storm was rolling in and for the mines it meant one thing, a sonic episode.

“What about Silvia and Jun’Krama?” Marx yelled.

“Nothing we can do now, we will have to wait for the storm to pass otherwise we are all screwed,” Gwen yelled back. “We don’t know how many crystals are exposed right now,” she added as she watched the first lightning strike hit the top of the cliff where the mine was dug into. “Oh god….”

“Gwen, the room, is it a safe spot?” Marx asked quickly. Gwen snapped around and nodded.

“Yes, yes it is. If they can get to it, it is shielded from storms. It wouldn’t protect them fully but it would take the edge off.”

“Enough to keep Sil from being driven mad?”

“I… I don’t know,” Gwen admitted as she sat there.

“Jeremiah! Get the hell out of there!!!” Marx screamed as Lou waited for him to catch up before they pulled out. Even for non talents the situation was dangerous. Cave in were common during storms and with the mine as damaged as it was now, it could cause a collapse of the entire cliff face.

Altenia Tower

Craig rubbed his eyes some as he got himself something to drink to try to stay awake. ”Ailen… Silvia built Marxs leg and he lives just fine without her around to repair it; even if you did stay, and everything worked out in the end. You’re race outlives Earthlings. She will die long before you, whether it is war or old age. You have to learn to take care of this yourself. As far as your transfer goes, Earth would be the best point because they have worked with the technology Silvia uses and dealt with Marxs leg, so if something did happen they would be the best equipped to handle it.” Craig interjected.

”She did say in the O.R. that she would write a manual for it, granted now that will depend on whether or not she ever gets out of the mines.” Craig said as he got an alarm in his quarters for an upcoming storm. Looking over at the monitor he groaned deeply as he looked over the maps that were popping up. ”Ailen, you seeing this in the Mor? This is not going to be good.”

Craig pushed away from his desk and stood up, pacing the room slowly. If those storms hit and there were too many exposed crystals all this arguing wouldn’t matter. If she died in the mines due to another collapse or was driven mad by the song it was over. He hoped at least if the worst case scenario came about that what they had on Tristan now was enough to at least still get him transferred off world but since the orignals had been destroyed and he didn’t know where Silvia placed the crystal drive copy they could end up more screwed now than before she arrived.

Sitting down on the edge of his bed he groaned deeply at this thought. He had to get Tristan off world, no matter what. He just hoped that Srath would contact him soon, he needed some smuggler insight into this. Someone that wasn’t so close to everything going on and one that was good at getting things on and off world undetected.

Deep in the Mines

Silvia perked a brow at Jun’Kramas question about if there was anyone else that was as big a risk taker as she was. “No, but I’m different,” she muttered, not knowing how true her statement was. “Actually wasn’t looking for a specific answer, just an answer,” she said as she continued walking. “Ailen happy?” she said as she spun around and looked at him completely confused. “He seemed happy?” she asked as she tilted her head to the side. “He seems to be a wreck around me. I had him transferred off my shift onto the Twins,” she said with a sigh as she turned back around and began making her way towards the Resistance Room. She felt of all people he deserved to know the truth to why she was there and since he wasn’t not GTC she had more faith in him than others.

“He seems lost and depressed around me. If that is the effect on him, he is better off away from me. He has been through far too much on this forsaken chunk of rock as it is,” she snapped as she continued to walk and tried to push the thought from her mind. Right now, as selfish as it was, she had to put herself and the Jun’Krama first and find a way to get them out of there. She hoped the Resistance Room would have a map of what all was dug out down there. She couldn’t get in earlier but she hadn’t be able to breath either. If it came down to it she would have to use her abilities to open the door.

At his words of stripping down she smirked slightly. “Yes, I guess you could but what would happen if I turned out to be as bad as all the rest,” she said as she took a few more steps. “I don’t think it would be good for the Brax’Na to have two great leaders taken out by; what was she called? A Chaos Goddess?” she asked rhetorically. As they reached the door, Silvia froze. “Oh god,” she said as she began to feel something from above them.

“Get down!” she screamed as suddenly her hands erupted with light and pushed him into the dirt, Silvia throwing herself over him but she seemed to levitate over him as a telekinetic shield formed the wide of the mine shaft and was hit by falling rock and debris; holding it back as her eyes glazed over but the strain in her features was evident, sweat forming over her exposed skin as her body trembled. “Door, the door,” she said weakly. “Get it open, get in there,” she said as her body convulsed under the effort of holding the cave back from crushing them.
The crystals exposed throughout the mine were starting to hum like a bee hive and the song was becoming stronger and stronger. Silvias nose and ears began to slowly drip blood as she held her position. She was a few feet above the Jun’Krama at this point, the shield a good five feet above her. She wouldn’t be able to hold it long but she just hoped she could long enough for him to get the door open and get inside. It had been damaged somewhat from the previous shifts in the mine, she or another talent wouldn’t have been able to open it but she hoped the Jun’Krama was strong enough to pull it open so he could get in and pull it back shut. At least in there he would be safe for a bit.

The Mor

Craigs words hit him like a bag of bricks. No matter what he would lose her. Watching her die of old age would be revisiting his sisters death all over. The Craigs next words got him to look out at one of the Mors windows. He rose up and moved to it. He watched the bolts that struck the top of it. He fought all the urge to punch the wall. Then he pushed it back looking back up. Your right,... Thinking of love at a time like this is foolish. Especially with her. I placed the blue crystal drive on the table in her room. She might still have it in there. I will watch the Twins, your head of security of the tower. Override that door grab the drive. Lets revisit my transfer and go with it. Lets go there,.. Have Srath be my taxi to earth and take Tristan to his ship. Stick his ass in a box if you have to. Dont worry I wont do anything stupid this time.

Your right,... I should abandon any feelings of being with her. If it neans helping the cause I will do it. Put in for my transfer to earth once you have Srath and crystal drive. Then have Srath commisioned to take me to earth. Have it happen in docking bay 12 where the cameras are turned off and have him put in the cell or .... Or better idea. Srath just brought in a bounty that looks just like Tristan right?... Lets switch them. That way everyone will think Tristan is still here. Let me do this Craig... As an apology to you and this tower. This will be my redemption he paused and whiped a tear away as he moved back to his desk. He wrote on the note adding the words 'sorry for everything' and put it back under a pendant.

Also,... Can you do me a favor,... One last favor as friends. My old crystal is sitting on my desk in the form of a pendant. Make sure she gets it when she comes out. I wanted her to have it as a memory of me. He suddenly had to wipe off a drop of water that hit the note. I am sorry Silvia but we would never had worked out.

The Crystal Caves

There was no time to hesitate, no time for thinking. He rushed for the door pulling on the handle. It shook but not enough. He then pulled out his sword and shoved it into the frame of the door. Pushing it in until he felt it was far enough in. Using it like a crowbar he began pushed against its side. "Shit shit shit shit shit fuck shit fuck!" He yelled. Dont you fail me now god damn it! He then hopped back and started kicking it with all his strength until the lock broke and and gave way. The door knocking him back and on the floor. He got back up and saw the open door way. He grabbed Silvia and tossed her through it. "Sorry!..." He yelled and then rushed inside and grabbed the handle and pulled it closed before the ceiling caved in. Dust picking up all around him and the door as held it close.

He stood there his hands wrapped around the handle so tight his knuckles went white. Once he knew they where safe within the room he let go and released a big sigh of relief. He looked to her and began to laugh. Not at her but at the fact he almost died back there. For what some damned woman. He then stopped chuckling and looked at her.

No not just some damned woman. He did it for her. "Karras,...." He said suddenly. Pausing and smiling. "My name is Karras.... "

Jeremiah’s dilated eyes widened even more as Lou yelled at him. The adrenaline pumping through his veins quickened and his heart pounded, but instead of running, he stood there by the panel. If there was going to be more disruption, he at least had to ensure the ventilation systems wouldn’t breakdown if hit or molested in any way.

He bit his lip and shoved his tongue in his cheek as he started to resplice a few of the wires behind each other, creating backup flows in case one were to shut down. He picked up the discarded steel sheet panel that he had ripped off, dug into his suit for nails, and quickly hammered it into patches over the most important coils. With an intoxicated smile he wiped his hands, then quickly turned on his heel.

His drugged legs launched him to the vehicle in a second splitting sprint, and with a heave, he slid into his seat, slapping the driver's seat in front of him, “let’s go!”

Altenia Tower

Craig listened to Ailens words and fell off the edge of his bed to the floor, surprised by the sudden change. It wasn’t what he was trying to get at, not at all. What he was trying to get Ailen to realize that was that people die, no matter what we do and there is nothing we can do about it; that we have to take the bad with the good and enjoy those moments of happiness while we have them. Sighing deeply he looked up and stared blankly at the ceiling. He figured there wasn’t much he could say right then to make him understand. Maybe sometime on Earth would help him, at least make him see that a short time around someone you cared about was better than no time.

”I will but you aren’t transferred yet, Silvia has final say,” was all he could think to say. Rising from his place he looked out the window and saw the storm raging on, hoping that Silvia was alright but locked in the mines, what chance did she have? ”When Srath contact me, I will let you know, until then, continue as normal,” he said as he stepped out his doors and made his way to Silvias room. He used his override and entered. Searching for what seemed forever but found nothing. Did she have it on her? If so, it would complicate matters. Sighing he walked back out and secured the door before checking that Tristan was still under lock and guard before making his way to the docks to see if he could find Srath.

The Safe Room Of The Resistance

“Hurry!” Silvia screamed as she felt her strength giving away quickly, she didn’t know how much of the cave she was holding up but it felt worse than catching a transport without crystal aide. The blood had quickly gone from drops to a steady trickle as she gasped for breath; her eyes swirling like the storm above and her mind feeling like it was being ripped apart by the increased sounds of the crystal song. Sweat dripping from her body as her muscles burned she began to scream in agony. It was cut short as she felt Jun’Kramas hands on her and pulling her out of place in midair.

“No!” she tried to say but nothing came out as she was flung into the Resistance Room and hit the ground hard, rolling a few times in the dirt before she ended up sprawled out on her chest with her head buried in the dirt. Slowly she lifted her head; her face smeared with her own blood and the dirt of the mines as she looked over and saw the Jun’Krama holding the door closed while the mine shook around them. He had just saved her life, risked his own. What the hell was he thinking? If she had had any strength left she would have asked but her mind was still swimming from the hum of the crystals and her body was fatigued from the entire ordeal.

Slowly she brought her knees in and rested her forehead on the cool ground, her body still shaking uncontrollably as her arms wrapped around her waist. She was in agony, both mentally and physically. The only salvation was that the room was indeed cutting back on the song of the crystals. It still ripped through her but it was manageable for now. Coughing slightly, blood came from her mouth and her tear ducts. She had done a number on herself, it was completely self-inflicted but she had done it out of reflex to give him a chance. She hadn’t once thought she was going to survive the ordeal and the last thing she had expected was him coming to her rescue.

Weakly her head turned as she rested her cheek in the dirt, still holding herself and trembling as she heard him laughing, wondering what was so funny but she didn’t have the strength to ask. As he finally introduced himself and gave her his true name she was able to manage a small smile. “Karras,” she whispered. “Thank you,” she forced out before she rolled onto her back and stared towards the ceiling, seeing it was dented from the weight of the collapsing mine and groaned deeply. Had they just truly saved each other or just given themselves an open grave instead of one under crushed earth.

Silvias eyes slowly drifted close as she rested her hands in the cool dust on the ground, trying to regain her strength but it would not come for a while. It was one thing to do smaller shields, to move a person or even a ship with the aid of her crystal but what she had done would have been taxing under the best circumstances. Her chest rose and fell slowly with each breath she forced into her lungs, her muscles still burning and her mind was aching. She hoped she didn’t have to attempt that again anytime soon. She wished the lights were out so Karras couldn’t see her weakened like this but the room had its own separate generators and was self-contained; so there she lay in her weakened and bloodied state for him to see.

Outside The Mines Of Altenia

Lou and Marx kept screaming for Jeremiah to hurry up and get in the vehicle, but it seemed he had other plans. They didn’t know what he was up to but whatever it was seemed important to the engineer. After a few moments he came barreling towards them and landed in the open seat. Lou didn’t wait any longer and pushed the vehicle as hard as he could as it spun around and made a break away from the front of the mine. It wasn’t a moment too soon as another bolt of lightning hit the face of the mine and it all came tumbling down to the ground, there was nothing left but rocks and debris.

Thankfully everyone had seemed to get clear of the path of the falling rock but not by much, there were a few injuries that the other Moles were grabbing and tossing into other vehicles. Marx turned around in his seat and watched it happen, his eyes widening as he sat there in disbelief. “Sil….” was all he managed to say as he watched the collapse; there was nothing he could do at that point. The storm was raging on.

“Moles to Altenia Tower…..We just lost the mine….” Lou said through his com to the Tower. “Heading in, one known dead, several injuries, will be there shortly. Pulling out until the storm passes,” he said before cutting the com. Gwen leaned back in her seat and covered her face with her hands unable to say anything.
