Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

And just as things seemed to be calming down and all that, something weird happened. There was a really weird sound... a sound that caused awkwardness to show on her face as she realized what it was and where it came from. The word Dumbo didn't quite made it any better as her face froze in a shocked expression before she regained her bearings and pulled her eyes away and down to the book that she had found to continue reading. She thought to herself that there were all manners of people out there still and frankly living as they were all until now, manners weren't really the great focus for all of them. She shouldn't judge and she chose not to, instead she focused on the book. At least the rhymes in the book were easy to pull the attention into, made the mind work as the rhyming happened.

Sure enough the Atticus or whatever fellow finally arrived with some medicine for Jamie. Then her stated out the room arrangements. Amelia's face completely froze in emotionless scowl as she learned she was NOT in a room with Riley. Damn it all! She wondered what to do, what to say and if she should beg, but chances were they weren't going to accept any beggings or pleas. She really wasn't happy about having to share a room with someone else than Riley and what's more an unknown person and Beatrice... Amelia didn't recall of being too close with Beatrice even back in Newnan. She was torn on the inside, but the voice of reason in her mind overcame the paranoia for the moment. Even if they were going to be LOCKED INSIDE the rooms, which hell yeah that was direct prison enviroment here, but there was no other choice. Either that or leave... And she wanted her group to have the best possible chances of being accepted. Amelia owed them that much at the very least. She couldn't cause any problems about it, so she just leaned on Riley. She wasn't expecting of doing much sleeping tonight...

Then the priest commented on the death of Dumbo... Suddenly it something struck her nostrils like a metaphorical atomic fart bomb. All of Amelia's inside seemed to be forced to churn in a mere moment as she suddnely bolted upwards from the chair, dropping the book she held in her hands as she bolted to teh closest thing she saw that wasn't going ot be puking out on the floor. It turned it was the Dish bin that they put the used tableware in. She threw up violently, emptying her just somewhat filled stomach. She couldn't remember just how long it has been since she had smelled something so bad it caused her to throw up like this." I'm so sorry..." She said weakly, still feeling her inside twisting." I will wash these..." She added, covering her mouth and nose with her sleeve now, trying to deal with the smell and calm her twisting stomach.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice just gave Manny a slight nod of acknowledgement. She didn't need his praise or his explanation that breaking Hunter's arm hadn't been needed. She had come to the same conclusion herself. Having someone else tell her that after the fact? And it wasn't like she considered Manny to be a friend - he was a part of her people, her group, and there was a distinction there. In fact, of the living members of her group, he was arguably her least favorite member. His desire to be helpful and get to know people rubbed her wrong. Her favorite member was easily Alex - sure, she had a special thing going on with Thalia, something beyond definition... But she felt a genuine bond with Alexander that she hadn't with the others.

She smirked slightly at the defeated look on the kid's face though, as he got off of the ground. However, her face was back to a guarded and neutral expression as Ash came her way. She didn't want to be seen as an associate of the Newnan group. From what was happening, she figured that they would be seen as unable to integrate. She wanted Manny, Alex, and Thalia to disappear - to eventually just wave as they saw each other, to just become another piece in the cog of this machine. And Ash, continuously bringing up her ties to Newnan, the ties they all had? It went against that. "You don't need to thank me - it's in the past," Beatrice told him quietly. It wasn't her showing vulnerability or weakness - more of a strategy. "And Ashton? If you want your group to survive and be accepted here, stop referring to them like that - at least verbally," she added at a whisper.

If any of them were going to make a future here, the past had to die.

"However..." Beatrice then gestured at her companions. "Thalia - Alexander - and Manny," she explained, indicating all of them. She wasn't one to give a long winded backstory on each of them. Thalia, Alex, and Manny could choose how they wanted to be known in this place. She wasn't about to mess up a chance at a fresh start for them, if they wanted one. The ensuing fart apocalypse caused her to resort to plugging her nose. Sure, she was tough but she wasn't going to suffer if she didn't have to. The preacher had returned and started going over the system for room assignments, describing it as being like prison.

It didn't alarm her in the slightest. Sure, it hadn't been ~real prison~ but she had been to juvi. She listened to her assignment, seeing that she was placed in a group with Erica and Amelia. She didn't remember much of Amelia from Newnan, but she didn't have to. The entire time, Amelia had been an emotional mess in the corner. If she kept that up all night, Beatrice was already planning smothering her with a pillow. She wasn't going to let a sniffling wreck ruin her sleep here.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Jack cracked a slight smile as Riley apologized for being a bitch. They all seemed to have been needing to make those apologies to each other at the moment. Fights hadn't really broken out when they were fighting day and day to survive - the drama and infighting always seemed to follow having shelter and security. Amelia had apologized as well, seeming skittish and frightened. He felt a bit bad for her - she was naive and lacked common sense, but she was still a good and kind hearted person. Jack wasn't too surprised to see Ash then go over to talk to Beatrice - she had been with the crew Thana had been a part of. The members of that group were some of the last surviving ~pieces of Thana~ so to speak.

However, his mind was really paying more attention to the woman in front of him, as Tatiana returned his embrace. He gave her a smile and kissed her forehead. "I love ya too - forevah," he promised. However, the smell that then entered the room was horrifying - it was worse than some of Jamie's more epic diapers. He had a numerical scale for ranking the diapers - this was a full Triple W tragedy. That's right - this was so off the scale, he had to start using letters rather than numbers to rank this.

The preacher came in not too long after, carrying medicine for Jamie. Jack's heart could've burst from happiness in that moment. He knew it was probably just a little cold Jamie had, but he didn't want his son to be in pain and to be miserable if he didn't have to be. He wanted to protect Jamie from everything - from emotional pain to walkers to the common cold. The room assignments actually didn't bother Jack too much. Tatiana was placed with Riley and the girl from Boston - sure, not ideal but of the women here, that honestly probably was ideal. He was in a room with Jamie, the amputee veteran who seemed to just want peace and quiet, and another person who hadn't arrived. Sure, it would've been nice to have Ash in there too but at least he wasn't with the kid Beatrice Decker decked to the ground.

And as Amelia went and puked, he was glad that Tatiana wasn't in the same room as her. He didn't want to know where or what Amelia's night was going to look like and Tatiana needed some sleep. They all did.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine)
Skills:

Riley looked over towards Amelia as she went to get up and grabbed a book to read. "Alright love, sounds good to me." Riley said towards Amelia and gave her a soft smile as she leaned herself back on, her attention turned towards Ashton as he went to address Beatrice's group. She didn't really know to much about them, aside for the two of them missing a hand and leg, she couldn't imagine what it would have felt like losing a limb. But it looked like they survived which was good then. A few seconds later Amelia came back to her and sat down looking at the book that her girlfriend had picked out. And it was Cat In the Hat, a book that she hadn't read in such a long time and brought up some good memories of her family one of the very few that she had of them anyway. "That's a pretty good read you got there." Riley said softly and smiled towards Amelia as she gave her another loving kiss.

Riley didn't really care to much what the other groups were doing right now, she was just relaxing right now and reading, then a few seconds later Atticus came back into the room. He went to give Jamie the medicine that he needed, and then started up with the room assignments for their stay. Riley's heart instantly sank as she looked towards Amelia she really didn't want to leave her behind, but at least it was just for the nights she would see her during the day though. But she'd feel much more comfortable with Amelia, but she could understand why. She at least knew Tatiana, and that is if she still wanted to talk to her anyway, though she didn't know a thing about Thalia she might as well get to know her once bedtime started. Then Riley paused as she stared directly at Wayne as she could hear several farts coming from the man, and then the room started to stink up a bit. Riley quickly covered up her nose with her robe, as Amelia went and got up to vomit into the plate bin, and started to make her way over. "Are you okay?" Riley asked her while still covering her mouth.

Erica Monroe

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine)
Skills:

Erica turned her attention towards Hank as he started to speak towards them, well mostly Nigel as he called her Apocalypse Barbie, at least it was a whole lot better than Sportacus which was probably way more annoying to Nigel than anything. She looked towards Nigel and nodded towards her friend. "Sounds good to me." Erica said as she watched him turn and get up, at least Hank was willing to give him some TV time. Then she started to hear a series of farts, and paused for a moment and then hearing Wayne's familiar laugh and just shook her head slightly. "Sucks for Dumbo then." Erica said with a slight shake of her head, and decided to cover up her nose just in case it would cause the room to stink up. A few seconds later Atticus came into the room and gave the baby his medicine and then sat down to give out the room assignments for the week.

Erica looked at the redhead who had her head shaved and then the Beatrice woman who manhandled the kid pretty well, she wasn't sure what they were like but she'd have the time to get to know them now it seems then. She then cringed slightly as she stared at Hank, Nigel and Wayne. They'd all be rooming together which sucked and she'd imagine that they would drive Nigel up the walls, and then Nigel came back as he brought a movie and smiled slightly. "It's been awhile since I've seen it." Erica said softly towards him.

Victor Bonheur

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: H6 (Outside Quarantine: W) > Locker Room (Inside Quarantine: W)
Skills: N/A

"Merci beaucoup, Michael." Victor took the bag from Doc as he handed it to him and he followed suit, taking his first steps into the building he had been brought to. The moment his feet stepped over the threshold, Victor felt the cool air flowing around the room and he closed his eyes for a few steps, relishing in the comfort of the coolness compared to the horrid humidity outside. The hairs on the back of his neck would have stood on end had it not been for the weight of sweat and layers of filth that coated his skin. He opened his eyes and noticed the room was rather barren, a simple room with nothing eye catching within it. He looked for signs of other people but didn't see anyone other than Doc and Maddoc bringing up his six.

He continued following Doc and saw that he was brought into a shower room. Victor blinked, he knew they'd spoken of showers but he thought it was going to be a manual kind of event not... this! Before he knew it, his face broke into a smile, his lips curling at the corners but no actual teeth showing, it was a smile of contentment and surprise, the good kind. He listened intently to the instructions and directions given and he bounced on the balls of his feet like a child on Christmas morning who was waiting impatiently to get into the room with all the presents inside. His hands absently moved to his beard at the mention of razors and he wasn't sure what he would do. His hand then ran over the top of his head and he knew what he was going to do.

As Doc pointed to where Victor should toss his current threads, he nodded and gave them a little sniff, that was a mistake. He gagged but managed to stop himself from doing anything more than that. He probably shouldn't have done that - hell he'd went over a month since his last rub down so he had no idea what he was thinking he was going to smell. Definitely not perfumed rose petals. Well at least not for much longer! He was far too excited for this shower. As soon as Doc sat down and stopped speaking to Victor, Victor took straight off for the towels, soap and razor before making his way to the nearest shower stand.

Being from the medical profession, Victor had no embarrassment factor when it came to the undressed state so his clothes were off his person and into his named bag faster than a chicken on a June bug. A sad warmth settled on Victor's chest then as he remembered Zoie, he still missed her but as long as her memory lived on in his mind and heart then she would always be with him. He placed the soap on a nearby ledge to his chosen shower (the first one of the five, if anyone was curious) and hooked the towel, ready for him to grab when he was done to dry off.

The water was turned on and Victor relished the feel of the water on his skin - hot or cold he was going to enjoy this - he shoved his head under the running water and let the loose dirt drip off his skin for a good 30 seconds. Eyes closed, he grabbed for the soap and lathered it up in his hands before popping it back and rubbing and scrubbing his head, working his way down to his neck and fluffing up his beard, spreading bubbles through the bristling hairs. Rinse and repeat, Victor felt refreshed and continued the practice down the rest of his body.

Once he felt comfortable that he'd gotten the worst of the muck and grime off his flesh, he lathered up the soap once more and coated his head in the soapy film it produced. He popped it back down for the last time and grabbed the razor, and began to shave his head, his fingers feeling for any areas he'd missed as he went line by line and then worked on the more intricate areas like those around the back of his ears and at the nape of his neck.

Happy with one last run of his fingers across his head, Victor fluffed up his beard and gave it one last rinse to ensure all the soap was out before turning the now cooling water off. He was sad to say goodbye to the shower but knew he had put off the next stage too long. Taking a deep breath in and holding it for a count of three, Victor let it out and grabbed his towel, drying himself off.

He walked over to where the robes and slippers were and grabbed one that was large enough for his frame, granted it was a lot shorter than he'd have liked, his knees were not his best asset but he wasn't complaining too much, at least it covered his intimates. Except if he bent over... He did always have issues, even before, with non-custom robes due to his height and width. He slipped his feet into the slippers, wiggling his remaining toes against them. He still cringed, thinking about when he had lost them but shook himself out of those memories and back into the here and now. That was not something he wanted to revisit just yet, if ever.

He walked over with his bag of dirty laundry and dropped it against the wall that Doc had pointed out earlier. He saw that he'd also pulled out his tools for checking out Victor and he couldn't help but wrinkle his nose at it. This in turn caused an itch to travel to his sinuses, which in turn settled at the back of his throat and caused another coughing fit. This was a pretty bad one, his face turning purple as he struggled to catch his breath again, his coughing being aimed in towards his chest and the wall. A wheeze left him as he forced air back into his lungs once the coughing abated and he had to place a hand on the wall to keep himself upright.

It did abate but it took a minute and he had to take some time to get his breathing back to normal with less of a wheeze. He pressed a hand to his chest and turned towards Doc. "I am sorry, that came out of nowhere." Victor walked towards Michael, tightening his robe around himself and waited for instruction from Doc on what he wanted from him. He was really, god damn nervous and, although he knew what to expect, he still dreaded seeing the outcome. He wrung his hands together as he addressed Michael. "I am ready when you are?" He glanced over to Maddoc, who had been silent since they had entered the building, he was curious what was going through that man's head.

Hank Wright

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

"Oh, Jesus H. Christ, Wayne!" shouted Hank, already leaning as far away from his survival buddy as was humanly possible and still remain more or less in his recliner. He wouldn't at all have been surprised if the guy didn't hear any of what he had just yelled; neither the invocation of his theoretical Lord and Savior nor his given birth name, owing to the noise megaphoning from his ass at the moment. Hank had been subjected to the horrors that the man's colon were capable of producing, given enough time and raw materials to work with. "This is one of the reasons they kicked us out of Amish country, you asshat!" That wasn't fully a fair statement. Of course, certain creative and social differences led to their being asked to vacate, but it really, really didn't help matters any that Wayne could out-oompah the entire brass section of a symphony orchestra with a single blast of his Horn Resounding.

As it came to it, Hanktholomew P. Wright was seated directly at ground zero, fully in repose, not expecting that he needed to have his shiniest survival instinct keyed up and ready to roll. As a result, this was as surprising to him as it was horrifying. Realizing that merely moving his head a foot of two away from the hellmouth that was Wayne's ass, he snatched a cushion from the nearest chair to him and began to wave it in an only marginally successful attempt to beat back the warm, fetid gust of methane and evil that began to slowly fill the conference room. "Dead Assholes eating rotting pig crotch would lose their goddamn appetite!"

Try as he might to get his mind on something else, anything else at this point, there was really no escaping the air pollution inside of Quarantine. And as much as Hank was bitching about it, he also felt too lazy to actually move from his chair. It was a decent enough recliner and smell or not, he was stubbornly going to stay on it until either it caught fire, or he really had to find a bathroom. Still, he barely had the facilities to notice in any meaningful way the movie that Nigel had just put on, nor the arrival of the Padre until he began giving out room assignments. At that time, Hank looked from Wayne over to Nigel, then back to Wayne, and smiled a little. While the others were getting their groups jumbled up, their little circle of fun was kept mostly intact. Fine, whatever. Even if Sportacus was a stick-in-the-mud in dire need of letting shit go, and Wayne was venting toxic gas from his rectum, it was going to be a hell of a lot easier to get some shuteye with these people around. The Devil You Know, and all that.

Ash Holloway

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Ash eyed Beatrice thoughtfully. After a second or two, he gave her a small, quiet nod. At heart, he was still an officer. Or at least a soldier, and it did tend to color a lot of the decisions that he made and the way that he handled things. He was a team player kind of guy when there was an objective, and that objective most recently had been pure survival, moving from point A to point B. They were able to, in Ash's mind, because they had a strong identity as a unit, be that unit a family, a military patrol, or both. The human equivalent of a pack of wolves traveling with purpose. If Beatrice's advice was sound, great. But until they were actually accepted into Mexico Beach (and not just Quarantine), they were still his people.

Ash knew that he and Beatrice had differing ideologies that way. He remembered her as being a distant, standoffish woman, prone to individualistic behavior. Or to continue with the analogy, a Lone Wolf type. Because of exactly that reason, Ash was surprised to see that she was with a continuing group for over a year now, let alone in charge of them. Perhaps things had changed with her. To his experience, it would have been a change for the better - Lone Wolf types got people unnecessarily killed.

He was grateful to the former Team Eden for their efforts; efforts that he did dearly wish that he could have been a part of. He had even been training himself for just that thing for a while before Mother Nature accelerated and altered the plan, destroying their home in the process. Well, as that religious iconography of yesteryear often said in stylized font: "People plan, God laughs". He must have been chuckling extra hard that day. And even then, Beatrice's group had sustained their own losses, as evident by a lack of faces from the last time he saw them and that two of them now qualified for handicapped parking. "Good seeing you again, Beatrice. It must have been a rough year. Thank you." He spoke succinctly but not coldly. She didn't seem to be up for a big reunion, and to be honest Ash wasn't in the most cheerful of moods either.

Unfortunately, Ash's opportunity to introduce himself formally to the others was lost in the jumble of whatever argument Wayne was having with his ass. Try as he might to ignore this, Ash simply could not. He waited for a moment or two, eyes widening in disbelief at the continued reverberation and the reactions around the room to it, one of which being Amelia finding a quiet spot to vomit. Not subtle, but an honest response to the world around her. As soon as it died down, his objective was stymied again by the arrival of the priest with their room assignments. Ash looked back to Beatrice, quietly confirming, "Looks like I'm with the kid." He gave a glance over to the one who Beatrice introduced as Manny, the third one in his assigned room. It was then that he realized that the older man wasn't part of the initial group that he had parted ways with all those months ago. Moving to meet up with the three of them; Thalia, Alexander, and Manny, he first addressed the one with whom he was totally unfamiliar, Manny. "Name's Ash." He was pretty sure that he had mentioned in the showers earlier, but it's a poor introduction that takes place over a bar of soap. "Seems that we're roommates. So, how did you come across these people?"

Ash hadn't fully noticed what was most recently put on the TV, nor was he overly paying attention. But in the back of his mind the opening music was starting to pull at him. It was familiar. And sad, somehow.

Thalia Carmichael

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

It was an age old story. Guy farts, girl vomits, room smells bad. Really bad. Like a crypt that had been recently opened and not fully resealed; that plus crap. Of all the people in this room, they did seem to be the ones in the best of spirits, though, the older people who kept messing with each other. Maybe that was the secret to maintaining your overall calm in the world today. Okay, so two of the older people in the group over there. The loudest, most obnoxious, know-it-all older people who, for whatever reasons unknown to rational humanity, remained looking positive and genuinely seemed to enjoy whatever was going to be thrown at them next. It was almost Zen.

Meanwhile, Thalia was still not really comfortable with unknown people and air conditioning. It was painfully counterintuitive to what her survival strategy had been for a long while. Keep numbers low, be ready to move. Live off of the land. Have something sharp on standby, and look out the person next to you. Always have a way out. Above all, don't let yourself get soft. That's how people died. She had just consumed the best meal that she had in a couple of years and was sitting in an artificial climate powered by electricity. Getting too used to it would only be a liability when it ceased to function down the road a ways. Even now, Thalia lamented the lack of a stout ash pole, fire treated to a flat, copper-hard point.

She was so much different than when the apocalypse started.

Considering that Army Captain had said that they would talk when they got settled in, it came as no surprise when he began to walk over to their little section of Quarantine. Finally, she might get some answers to a few burning questions that she had about her family and old friends that had survived the apocalypse but had passed afterward, that she heard from others made it to Newnan for a time. When he stopped to have some cryptic conversation with Bea, that was okay. She was the bitch in charge. It made sense. Then the farting. Okay. Then room assignments. Oh, she was with Tatiana and someone named Riley - must be someone else from the Newnan people. She could talk ballet and get the scoop on some things to pass their time. Great. But when that was done, instead of speaking to her like he mentioned that he was going to, Army Captain went to talk to Manny, like she was forgotten somehow.

"Pareces el tipo de chico que mi prima hubiera follado por deporte.1" Oh, that got his attention. She sideeyed the man with obvious annoyance, but followed up with, "Nah, you finish up with Manny and do you. Just remember that I'm still around and we have stuff to talk about. ¿Esta bien?2"

Okay, that was not the way to handle it. They were going to be around each other for a few days and there would have been plenty of time to talk. Thalia silently swore at herself for acting so rashly like that; directness was part of who she was, but impatience was not. A lot of stuff was starting to weigh on her. She must just be tired. The moment it was feasible to do so, she was going to get some well needed sleep.

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

Manny was glad to see things calming down now, though Manny could still get the feeling of tension in the air still. His friend Alexander spoke, clearly seeing the worry on his face. Manny sucked at hiding these sorts of things, he was very expressive compared to his fellow survivors at times. Maybe it was because of his age and not caring about what people know about him. Maybe it was because he had been more or less sheltered for the majority of the post apocalypse, with the exception of a few periods of time between the groups and settlements he had been apart of. Plus, the recent year as well He had little experience with hostile people after the world ended, most the hostile people being from when he was in his teenage years, and his adult life. "I'm glad to hear that. Must have been pretty intense with the boy there. Though there is no need to worry about me. I'm in good health, I'm still a decent shot with my old sport's gun. Life's good." Manny said with a smile, trying to keep the mood positive. "Offer still stands, you ever need anything, you just let me know. I'll get it taken care of." He knew Alexander wasn't likely to talk about what was happening in his head. That made sense, Vietnam had hurt a decent amount of his friends when he was younger, he had a rough idea of how the man felt. And he wasn't going to press him for info.

Ash, the Captain figure who took that Russian fist like a champ spoke and started asking about the survivors from Team Eden. Beatrice introduced the group simply enough. First names only, leaving room for the individual to divulge as much or as little they wanted to share. He got the sense that Beatrice wasn't up for much interaction with him right now. He didn't blame her, she was a very private person, and Manny was very expressive. He had been striking out with a lot of people today, made sense though as most people were very closed off nowadays. Though Manny didn't waste the chance to get to know people. He had a background that only he completely knew, and there was no way to prove any of it beyond his skill with a scalpel.

Manny being pleased how things were going, smiled. Sure they weren't perfect, but anyone that decided things were perfect were normally lying to themselves. For a moment the word Dumbo got his attention, but he payed it no mind. Just some of the other men goofing off again. Atticus then made his way back in eventually, and it was time for room assignments. Manny was interested to see who he would get grouped up with. Maybe it would be Alexander, or maybe someone he knew nothing about. Either way, he was looking forward to a rather exciting time. Room Four came along, Hunter, Manny and Ash. Not too terrible. Getting to know the Captain seems like it would be nice, though hearing that he was getting paired up with the Soldier boy wasn't a pleasant surprise. But maybe they could make some use out of this, maybe Ash and himself could talk some sense into the boy. That would be nice, with things going the way they were, he was worried that he would get kicked out. Sure he was stupid, but Manny wasn't sure he deserved to be kicked out. Then he was back to thinking about the Russian mother, would she get kicked out for punching Ash? He wasn't sure... Though that thought did scare him. But that was a bit out still none the less.

Atticus then developed a disgusted look, like someone had tried to kill him with a home made stink bomb. He saw the Red head girl duck and vomit into the dish tray. Manny was concerned now, what was going on?! Then it hit him. Though his sense of smell was weaker then it had been many years ago, he could still smell what had happened. He finally understood the death of Dumbo jokes that some of the others had made. "What the Actual Fuck just happened..." The smell was harsh, brutal, and reminded Manny of his early days in medical school, many of those areas smelling like corpses. Though he was familiar with the smell that now filled the room, he still gagged none the less. And watched as the man who dealt it, laughed.

Manny brushed it off and ignored the laughing man. He was glad someone was having a good time, but at what cost? He noticed the Ash had made his way over to him for introductions, that helped solve whatever Manny needed to do to get things started. Manny stood to greet the man. "Nice to meet you Ash, I'm Emanuel, but most people call me Manny. I uh..." Manny was normally an easy person to get a conversation going with, but this was harder for him still. Eden was... a terrible place. "I was a prisoner at Eden, when I heard the commotion from the floor below I took the chance to escape. We met up, I did my best to help finish the job, and we have been around since. It worked out for me, as things are starting to get harder in my old age. And it helped more then once from rather... extreme injuries." He motioned towards Thalia and Alexander. He wouldn't get into details about their cases individually, if he wanted that he could ask them. "I've been with them since, and just glad to not be stuck in Eden anymore. What about you? What's your story up to this point?" He looked back at Soldier boy, who he noticed was watching them back. It was... A little uneasy. "Do you think the two of us can talk some sense into the boy?" Manny caught that the boy was army, and so was ash here. Maybe they had some sort of bond that could be used to put him back on track. He did catch note of Thalia's remark towards Ash, his Spanish was rusty, so for now he had to just brush it off.

Private Hunter James Monroe

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

There were a lot of things that Hunter had to process. First, he had finally given into the idea that he couldn't force or sneak his way out. Not without a gun. Those walls until he learned more were bottle necked at the gates. So those plans would have to be put on hold until he learned more. He also was annoyed at a lack of a window in here. It would be nice to see that his world wasn't restricted to a tiny meeting room. Even if he couldn't go there, it would be nice to see that there was a world outside of this room. He saw the man he debated using as a bullet shield off in the corner laughing his ass off. He wondered what that was about. But guessing by the looks, expressions, cries of pain and laughter, and the vomiting girl he tried to talk to, was it was a bad one. Hunter would be lying if he said he didn't laugh at what was happening, it was overall funny, and even though he didn't like the man, he seems like someone Hunter would have enjoyed being around had they met on better terms.

The smell hit him pretty hard, but Hunter barely reacted. After living outside for extended periods of time, having no realistic means to bath or being comfortable enough to wipe himself down, and climbing into piles of bodies and gore to get around from time to time, this still seemed... Mild to him. He still found it funny, especially the reactions that the others were having. Atticus eventually entered the room going on about more people. Yay. More people that he would have to keep tabs on. He liked Atticus so far. But overall he still struggled to trust anyone here. They got their room assignments, and the man was correct, it did sound like a prison that they were being put into. He seemed to feel bad about that. He also noticed that the first person to notice the lack of coffee was Atticus. Hunter felt bad now, he was hoping it would be the man who killed Dumbo that got there and did some overreaction to there being a lack of coffee. But Atticus's reaction to the vile smell in the room was funny still.

He looked over at his roommates for the week. The oldest man in the apocalypse, and the captain. He figured worst comes to worse he could take the old man. Seemed slow enough, and didn't call out when Ash asked about soldiers. So he had little reason to believe the man could fight past handling a gun. The captain was another worry. Hunter had fear that he would try to Put him in his place. He wasn't sure how he would do it yet. Maybe he would do what the girl who tackled him did and threaten him until he cooperated, maybe he would pass off some sort of life lesson, maybe he would try to pull rank again? The thought of that made him chuckle again. His time in the army was brief, and it was FUBAR at its best. The army and their rank system meant nothing to him. When the old man looked his way, Hunter realized he had been watching too long. He waited until the old man, Manny, looked away. Then he stood up and walked to a chair that seemed more or less isolated from the rest of the people in the room. If he could, he wanted to see about getting his hands on some paper and a pen. It would be easier to take notes if he had the means to write them down, plus, he needed to start remembering names. Though if anyone ever found those notes, he'd probably get shot. Not that he hasn't been threatened with that anyways today.

Alexander Polawski

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

"I'll bother you when I need that root filling or my dental-hygiene refreshed, don't you worry Manny." Alexander replied to Manny with a growing smile, laughing at his own words that for once in a rare moment funny. The old behaviour of Alexander pre-Eden resurfaced for a moment, which felt good for Alexander, though he at first actively tried to ignore the first thing Manny had said. Alexander didn't really want to talk about "soldier boy" and his yelling, even if it had caused his flashback. But he felt he couldn't ignore it, and only gave it a brief mention. "I've had worse."

The smell that punctured the conversational bubble was bad, all right. Its shear volum didn't help either, which Alexander couldn't ignore. It was real bad, and the old veteran shrank his whole face at the very smell of it. It reminded him of something bad, something burning or rotting for a very long time in a certain wet climate, perhaps not as bad but it was a tough competition. Alexander swatted his hand before his nose, trying to get the smell out of his face as he noticed Father Atticus finally returning to the quarantied survivors, and the younger, now bald guy in the smaller group shooting Wayne daggers with his eyes. Alexander could understand the look once he heard the room-assignments.

Alexander himself was put together with Jack, the father of the young boy and husband of Tatiana, their child, both of which had appeared to be calm and nice...and another newcomer? Alexander shot Atticus a surprised look. There had come more survivors that same day? Had they followed the caravan with them all rounded up back here? "Who's the newcomer, Father?" Alexander asked Atticus, before his attention was turned to Beatrice and Ash joining the little circle. He gave the fellow Stones fan a good nod and smile, letting him and Manny talk as soon-to-be roommates. He knew the drill, best to get on the good side of those you shared bunks with. Alexander had been there, done that in the Army. He nodded to both Manny and Ash at the mention of extreme injuries, silently looking down at his amputated leg and sighing. Manny had saved their lives. He was the damned best dentist Alexander had ever known.

Alexander looked at the young soldier, Hunter as Manny mentioned him and talking some sense into him. What had happened to him that had caused him to end up like that? Broken, like himself? Alexander couldn't help but put himself in his shoes, looking up at Manny again. "Go easy on the kid, will you?"

Nigel "Hadrian" Cooper

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Nigel "Hadrian" couldn't fathom first what was causing the infernal noise befitting the realm of Hades, but Wayne's thundering laughter was a clear giveaway at what was going on. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to Nigel that it was a fart, and a titanic one it was indeed, borne into this world by no other than Wayne "Caligua" himself. At first Nigel only shook his head in disbelief and turned back to Erica to talk about the movie, before the smell hit him.

"Oh God! Now I know what burning war pigs smell like." Nigel uttered as he wafted the VHS to fan as much smell as he could away, though it was as futile as the boulder of Sisyphus. Trying to not die of the shear smell alone or Wayne's laughter, Nigel stared annoyingly at him as the 'Priest of Athens' finally returned. "Finally, I'm looking forward to some good sleep." Then came the list of who were to sleep in which room. Atticus was correct, Nigel had hoped he could chose who to share quarters with, or in the very least who he wouldn't. His hopes were shattered once he heard his name called up. Room 3: Wayne, Nigel and Hank. Of course, the gods surely were smiling in amusement at their little prank on Nigel "Hadrian". He sighed, trying to get comfortable with what was becoming his fate:

Being the verbal punching bag of Hank and Wayne, whatever the cost may be. Even suffication from Wayne's poison gas.

Nigel "Hadrian" was reminded of that thought; dying from sleeping in a room farted in. Somewhere far back in his mind he started digging through hours of watching television, his eyes wandering the room as he looked at the various groups of people sleeping together. A newcomer? He wondered who that might be, and his own curiosity was reflected in one of the old men's question, the one missing a leg and with a home-made pegleg...Mythbusters! The leg looked like something they could have made, at least Adam Savage with his personality. Nigel thought further back to an episode, the one about dying from your own farts.

As far as he could remember, they had tested it over and over again, each time increasing the variables in proper Mythbusters' sense of over-doing it. Nigel "Hadrian" breathed out as he remembered their verdict; Myth Busted. As he was certain that he wouldn't die from lack of oxygen that night, Nigel put on the movie he'd picked out and sat back down again with Erica, now that they had their rooms. "Yeah me too. Must have been, I don't know, ten years since I last watched it." he told Erica, noticing Hank's smile which normally couldn't have been good, but now? Nah, Nigel wanted to just watch the movie with Erica and whoever else wanted to watch, preferably in silence and not smelling like the sewers of Rome. "You pick the next movie then, Erica. Unless you Hank has any objections to that?"

Tatiana Newnan

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Psychology, People Reading

Tatiana's head slowly turned at the sound, Jamie was just giggling at it. Her head tilted to the side slightly as it continued and Panama burst out laughing. That was unexpected. And when the smell hit she didn't flinch. She had had to hide out under corpses when she was a child, so it wasn't much to her. Plus she had given birth, in the wilderness. It took a lot to get her to react to something like that. Apparently Amelia wasn't as strong stomached. Girl lost her lunch. Tatiana sighed a bit as she looked over towards her baby, his face contorted some, like he had bit into a lemon. That made her smirk a bit. He still had a ways to go it seemed.

Overhearing her room assignments she took note she would be bunking with Riley, whom she knew and got along with alright but right then things were still tense. It would pass she figured. And Thalia, the woman that had asked her to teach her how to dance. Could have been worse. Her face twisted slightly as she heard she wouldn't be in the same room with Jack and her son Jamie but it would be alright. It would be her first night not sleeping in the same room with her son. Maybe she would actually get some sleep. Had it been six months ago she might have cried and pleaded but not now. She was worn and tired. Jack was protective, overly so. If anyone tried anything she figured there would be a corpse in the morning. Alexander didn't seem like he would be an issue, as long as he could handle Jamie's crying but the kid rarely cried so she figured there wouldn't be a trigger. What she wanted to know though was, who was the new comer?

Giving half a sideways glance towards Ash, she wondered if it was the best idea to put the kid in the room with him. Granted, there wasn't a lot of choice. Between what Ash, Wayne, and Jack had said to the kid, he didn't have a good chance with being put in a room that wasn't already gunning for him. Jack would go ape if that kid was in the same room with Jamie. Wayne, she thought from what she had seen, might actually sit on the kids face and fart him to death. Ash, in truth, was the biggest worry. He was a bomb ready to explode. He had already had to put a bullet into Alicia's skull, take over Newnan when LeAnn died, lost Newnan, and then show up here and no Thana. Yeah, he was gonna snap eventually if the right trigger came along.

Wayne Maldonado

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Wayne just kept laughing, he felt better. Not that he had felt bad to start with. He might have gas, that didn't mean he was in pain. Granted he seemed to me eating it up as he wiggled his butt in his chair. It could have been taken as him getting more comfortable to trying to squeeze more out but he knew why he was doing it. He was punishing a certain little blue bucked toothed fuck fairy. That was totally worth the rectal release. The man actually looked proud of himself, even as Hank was fanning it away and Amelia puked. "I've let out worse," he mused as he leaned back in his seat and put his hands behind the back of his head.

The room assignments had been given and he grinned broadly towards old Sporatcus. Putting them in a room together had it's up's and down's. Down side, they weren't going to be getting to know anyone knew. Up side, he wouldn't have to deal with the kid but that could have been fun in and of itself. And since the three of them had already been traveling together for months, he knew they could tolerate sleeping in the same room together. Better the devil you knew in some cases.

Looking around, he did have a question. "So, when we gonna meet this General?" he asked looking over at Panama, Major, and then Atticus. There had been mention earlier about meeting the guy earlier. Glancing over towards the TV, Wayne chuckled. "As you fucking wish! I love this shit!" he exclaimed. "So Sport, you happen to have six fingers on your right hand?" he teased with a bit of a chuckle.

Year 5: Update

Date: July 15th, 2012
Map in Original OOC post - NPC's In CS Tab

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: H6 (Quarantine: W)

Temperature: 94F (34C)
Humidity: Fucking High (Around 98%) - Raining off and on all day
Wind Speed: 7 MPH (11 KPH)
Cloud Coverage: About 51% covered with thick dark clouds

Atticus's head snapped to the side slightly and his face went into surprise as he watched Amelia rush over to the dish bin and vomit. "Oh that's not right," he said with a slight muttering before standing up and pushing his chair back. Pouring the girl a class of water he took it over to her and held it out. "Don't worry, seen people lose their lunch over less," he said as he stood there. "They were gonna get washed anyways. You ain't the first to throw up over the dishes." Sighing he leaned in a bit. "I got fucking drunk one night, next morning, I threw up all over the god damned eggs in the line the next morning. Cook nearly killed me, so you're one up on me." He gave her an understanding look and shrugged a bit.

Panama looked over to Wayne and then checked his watch. "Actually, Main Man should be in to see you all within the hour," he said to Wayne. Turning his head, Major opened the door and Auntie handed over a pack.

"For the new guy, think he's still in with Doc. Hand it over, I gotta get back to supply," she said, looking like she was in a hurry.

"Problem?" Major asked as she rose a brow.

"Relay in," was all she said before heading out and the door shutting behind her. Major nodded and looked over towards Panama. Panama held out his hand and took the pack from Major before setting it down behind him for the new guy once he got there.

Atticus glanced towards Alexander and shook his head. "Shit, that's for him to tell you," he said before gathering his stuff and tucking it under his arm. Atticus hadn't told him the man's name for a reason, wasn't his place. Not with a new group. They hadn't earned that right as of yet. They weren't members of the community.

Over in the showers, Doc looked at Victor and took his stethoscope off his shoulders and got them ready. "No worries, let's get you checked out," he said as he stood up. He did a basic check up. Checking the mans body, looking over it for problems, listening to his heart and lungs. He stopped and looked at the man. "Alright, let's get your blood drawn," he said as he picked up the hypodermic and then got the blood drawn. Labeling the vial and setting it down. He pulled out a lime green wrist band and put it on Victors left hand. "Well, you have some problems. Chest is congested but I am thinking that is more sinus related than anything. We've had a lot of that down here lately. I'm guessing you got some heart trouble and we can deal with that. You haven't met Mary yet, goes by S.B., Scary Bitch." He chuckled slightly. "She acts like a nurse but she's in charge of our pharmaceuticals. When I get your blood work back, I do want to take you over to the hospital once Quarantine is over and get some X-rays. Other than that, you are in remarkable condition."

Turning he reached into his bag and scoured through it before pulling out a bottle of pills. It was just a basic bottle with his name on it. Scratching it out he wrote Victors name on it and handed it over. "Sinus meds, let's do this for two days and I will come back and check in on you. Take 1 now," he said as he pulled out a water bottle and unscrewed it before handing it over as well. "Then another before bed. Then twice a day, morning and night, until I check back in on you. If things get worse, let someone know to call me over," he said as he sat back down.

He picked up a folder and pulled out a sheet of paper and attached it to a clipboard with a pen. "Now, gonna need you to fill this out. Usually do this in the conference room but it is pretty busy in there, so just gonna let you use the peace and quiet here to get it done. Once you have it all filled out, just hand it back over and I can take you over to Conference with the others." He smiled slightly and leaned back a bit on the bench, until his back hit the wall behind him and got comfortable.

Once Victor was done and handed back over the paper and such, Maddoc took a look around the room to make sure that everything was returned or not taken, like soap or razors. He gave a nod to Michael and Michael stood up, gathering his things. "Well, let's get you over to conference to meet the rest of the new comers." With that Michael led Victor out of the showers and headed down the hallway, past where they came in and towards a door on the left hand side of the corridor. It was marked Conference Room. Knocking slightly before he pushed the door open he looked around and wrinkled his nose a bit. "Wow... Told Mae dinner should have been easier on the stomachs," he muttered as he came in. "Everyone, one more to the group tonight." Doc stepped out of the way and waited for the new comer to come on in. Maddoc pulling up the rear. Granted the man hadn't entered yet and couldn't be seen. (In other words, until Victor posts again and enters, ain't no one knowing shit.)

Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Alright if she felt bad and slightly embarrassed before, now she wanted to lock herself in a box and get burried down at the center of the earth. She was the only one who lost her meal at this... faul stentch! Especially after all the time they spend on the roads to still end this way and display herself in even worse light. She sighed as she heard Riley coming around asking if she was okey. Amelia just gave a wary sigh." Sort of... for now..." She mumbled also an additional reply, hiding her face now. This was not a nice way to their start here, not nice at all. She didn't quite pay attention to what the source of the chemical warfare weapon was doing or saying, mostly cause her attention was focused elsewhere though.

Suddenly the Atticus person came over with a glass of water and some encouraging words. " Thank you." She gave a few honest words of thanks to the map as she took the glass of water, drinking from it, trying to wash out the bile from her mouth. At least this guy seemed nice, unlike some of the others from this place they had seen. Amelia then smiled and nodded when Atticus went ahead to recount the tale of how he had lost his own lunch in hte past, making it sound like what she had done wasn't that great a deal and she was happy he did so. She smiled lightly and nodded, before thinking for a moment." Thank you, I feel better now." She gave in a rare more worded out sentence, especially considering she said it to someone she had just met, but she did feel grateful to the map now. Despite her shyness and the fact she wasn't sure they could quite trust these people.

Then just as she was beginig to settle with the situation once more a person entered the room, stating they had another person to join them. They had vaguely heard about it earlier. She turned around in that direction, wondering what kind of person was arriving now after them.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine)
Skills:

Riley took a moment to gently rub Amelia's back to try and comfort her, she had her own fairshare of embarrassing stories of getting drunk and vomiting everywhere. As she looked over as Atticus came over with a bottle of water for Amelia she gave the priest a friendly smile and nodded towards him. "Thanks." He said as she turned her attention back over towards, she smiled slightly when Atticus gave a little story of vomiting on some food. "Before all of this, I was at a party and I ended up vomiting on this woman I was dancing with from drinking to much. It didn't really turn out to well." Riley said with a slight smile trying to cheer Amelia up, yes vomiting in front of everyone and in some used dishes was a bit embarrassing at least she didn't vomit on anyone which was a good thing in her book as well.

Riley then turned around and started to make her way back over towards the couch when one of them mentioned meeting the big guy of this place, she did wonder what he was like as well. Riley then turned towards the door she started to wonder who the new guy who was coming in was as well, and when the person even showed up. Riley didn't even remember seeing anyone else on their way in but then again they were riding in on a bus as well to. She would occasionally eye the man named Wayne raising an eyebrow seeing the man wiggling his ass in the couch cushions which was really weird.

Erica Monroe

"It's going to suck with rooming with Wayne and Hank." Erica said towards Nigel and smiled she meant it more as a joke at least as she leaned back in the chair for a moment. She would occasionally look at the others within the room seeing the woman with her kid, he was pretty adorable, but didn't want to approach her just yet they had time to get to know one another anyway while they were in quarantine as well. Her attention turned towards Hank and Wayne as well, she shook her head slightly looking back at Nigel again as he started up the movie and went back to sitting down. "I wonder how long his gas attack is going to last to." Erica said, as she tried to ignore the smell as much as possible.

"I cant remember the last time I have seen this movie, i'll pick the next one if no one else wants to choose anything." Erica said, though she did remember it pretty well it was while they were in her husband's cabin at the time while everything was going on. But she didn't want to say it, and it was a memory that she wanted to keep private as well. She looked at Wayne when he asked either Panama or Major when they would be seeing the man in charge of the place, as well who the new person was to.

Victor Bonheur

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: (Inside Quarantine: W) Locker Room > Conference Room
Skills: N/A

Keeping as compliant as possible, Victor followed Doc's instructions as he was poked, prodded and pricked. He kept still, allowing the man to do his job in complete and utter peace. The cold steel of the stethoscope on his chest was a welcome temperature, even whilst being in a building with air conditioning, the needle was less welcome but not a bother. Victor simply breathed through it like a pro. When Doc put a wrist band on Victor's left hand he lifted it and looked at it curiously, it was lime green in colour. Must be some kind of labeling system they had for their new arrivals to show at a glance any immediately known issues perhaps? It was intriguing and he wanted to ask more but also did not care to show too much interest as well, lest they figure out what he could do before he was ready to share. He dropped his hand back down to his side as he listened to the initial prognosis.

He wasn't as bad off as he had thought, that was very welcome news indeed. So welcome, in fact, that he let the relief show on his face as quickly as it vanished when Doc mentioned he may need to go into the hospital. He reeled in the worry a little, not so much that it wasn't noticeable but more that it wouldn't show as complete and utter panic as he addressed Doc. "Thank you, Michael. To know that my cough may not be as bad as eet sounds, it is many relief to this old man." He placed his newly banded hand to his chest and bowed his head in inclination towards Michael. "I will keep an eye out for this S.B., I doubt she ees so scary as you say. Maybe she'd be nicer eef she was not called S.B. to newcomers!" He let a small chuckle loose. As much as Doc was slightly growing on him, it would take more than a few giggles to break down his shell properly.

He took the bottle of pills as they were handed to him, clasping them in his left hand before opening and taking one out as instructed, he screwed the lid back on and popped them into the pocket of his robe before then taking the bottle of water with his right hand. Victor did as he was advised and took one extra mouthful of water to ensure the pill did not lodge in his parched throat. He relished the fresh water and he couldn't help himself as he polished the bottle of water off. "Apologies, I was most thirsty. Did not even realise 'ow much so." He watched as Doc sat down and he listened intently as he spoke. Sitting down beside him on the bench, Victor placed the empty bottle on the floor at his feet and looked at the questionnaire that Doc handed to him. It was to be expected, being asked a bunch of personal questions. He considered carefully what he was going to divulge, reading through each question before writing even his own name.

Furrowing his brow, Victor began to fill the questions in. He took care over what he was writing and purposefully wrote it in his native tongue before providing the English translations beside them. It would help solidify his bilingual statement at the least. Once he had completed each question, he handed the paperwork back to Doc and followed his lead as they left the locker room and headed towards the conference room where the convoy that Victor had followed earlier were now situated. His heart began to race quicker, could there be anyone he had been searching for these last 10 months be behind the door? He had no idea how he'd react if they were, would they be happy to see him? Would they be upset? He was uncertain how it could play out but likelihood was that he was going to see a bunch of strange faces behind the door and his worries would all be for naught. His feet felt heavy and his mind was light as he moved forward, Doc's back the only thing keeping him in the here and now.

He stood to the side, Maddoc behind him, while Michael announced their arrival. He turned and took one step into the room before he glanced around some faces that were unfamiliar before he was stopped in his tracks as he saw the one thing that had kept him moving forward in the world, the only thing more than just instinct. His eyes found them, but were they real? Had he finally snapped and lost his control? "Ma famille..." His voice cracked as his hands rose up to cover his mouth, his stomach was in turmoil and he felt as if he were going to be sick with joy, with worry, with relief, it was as if his body couldn't choose what to be. So instead of one thing, it chose to lose all ability to function and his knees buckled beneath him. He slumped to the floor in a half upright pile as tears streamed down his face. His hands now reaching out towards Tatiana, Jack and little Jamie. His voice croaked as he spluttered out a few nearly incoherent words. "Je vous ai trouvé."

Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice just nodded again at Ash's thanks, finding it to be unneeded. As far as she was concerned, Ash's inability to leave the past behind him would get him killed one day. The world wasn't going to stop turning, as much as he may have wished for it to do so. Any semblance of them truly having distinct groups would have to end now - otherwise, their people wouldn't be able to survive inside of Mexico City. They would brand themselves as outsiders, forming cliques that would cause resentment and mistrust. Given that Mexico City had no qualms about turning people away, if they couldn't integrate and form a new identity as a part of this larger group, then they would be sent away. She was certain of it. "He's weak. Have fun," Beatrice told Ash quietly and curtly, as he mentioned that he would be rooming with Hunter. Was it psychotic of her? Maybe. Beatrice was self aware enough to notice, but not enough to care.

She heard Thalia's taunt to Ash in Spanish, chuckling a little bit. Beatrice hadn't known Alicia, but she had lived in Newnan for a year or so and word got around, especially when it came to the odd love life of their commanding officer. She was curious as to how that line would impact Ash's psyche, since he had just found out Thana died. Though truthfully, Thana died a long time ago. Beatrice had already gone through her process of grief and mourning, writing Thana off as dead about a week after she disappeared. Love made people weird - that was probably why Ash hadn't done the same. She listened slightly to what Atticus had said, his anecdote about getting drunk and vomiting on the eggs interested her. No, it wasn't because it was a gross story but because it meant that alcohol was something readily available here. Of course, it could have been the communion wine she supposed but even then - readily available alcohol to consume at any time? Newnan hadn't had that either.

Of course, the ghost that walked through the door? Newnan had had him. She blinked slightly, wondering if anyone else that was definitely dead was going to come through the door and make an appearance. Would Thana somehow be next?

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Jack shook his head at Jamie, chuckling at the faces his son was making. To him, the smell was obnoxious but apparently Jamie found it funny. He was making a cute little face too - hopefully not one that meant he had pooped his diaper - and he couldn't help but smile more at his son. His son always made him smile, no matter how bleak and grim things got, Jamie was a little ray of hope and light and sunshine and joy and all of those positive hippie terms. It was part of the reason why Jack wanted to shelter Jamie from the worst of the world as much as he could - to keep him the sweet little innocent guy, to keep his soul pure and untainted. They were all damned - but Jamie didn't have to be. He gave Tatiana's hand a squeeze, knowing that she most likely wasn't happy to not be in the same room as Jamie.

"I got this, solovey - you rest up, and if Riley and Thalia don't let ya sleep when ya want to, let me know," he said. His wife deserved a good night's sleep. He doubted Tatiana had gotten one since Newnan fell. Between the apocalypse a newborn baby, shuteye wasn't the easiest thing to come by. However, his jaw dropped as he saw a man enter the room - one he hadn't seen in a long time. Tatiana had never said what happened to Froggy, meaning that he had assumed that the closest thing he ever had to a father had died. It was just a part of this life. He wondered for a moment if he was hallucinating again, having experienced hallucinations of his dead girlfriend before Newnan fell...

"...Dad?" Jack blurted, his mind short circuiting slightly and just spitting up that word to call Froggy by. He had always called him Froggy or Victor, whatever he preferred but... Never did he actually bust out the D word, so to speak. But seeing the closest thing he had to a father, back from the dead, and holding his own son in his arms? It was throwing his mind for a loop and he could only just stare at Froggy. He so desperately hoped that he was real and not a hallucination - but he didn't know if he could trust his own mind right then. "Solovey... You seein' what I'm seein'?" he then asked softly.

Ash Holloway

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

A brief flash of surprise and anger flashed across Ash's features as his head turned sharply to Thalia. His grasp of the Spanish language was actually pretty good. It was his foreign language selection in high school and he continued it as an elective in secondary education. His proficiency continued to improve when he was stationed in South America, and he received one hell of an education in the brutal, conversational aspect of the language because of his involvement with Alicia.

The big cosmic joke on both of them was that Ash really was the kind of guy that her cousin would have follado por deporte. Maybe it started as sport (who's to say?), but they did have an actual relationship. They were genuinely close. But Ash didn't know that Alicia was this woman's cousin any more than she knew that they were an item once upon a time. Then why did it suddenly strike him, even briefly, on an emotional level? Ash glared at the woman, staring right in her eyes - those oddly familiar, hazel eyes. He raised his hand to point a finger in her general direction, a sort of light gesture to indicate that he'd get back to her later. He was busy at the moment.

There was the tiniest lingering thought to Beatrice's last words to him - he was weak - indicating the younger soldier. It seemed to be as much of a warning as it was a descriptor. Ash responded with a barely audible agreement, "Yeah." A person like that made things interesting, and not in a good way. The kind of person who panics at sudden changes or waited until people viewed as enemies (whether they were or not) were unaware or asleep to preemptively attack. The kind of guy that sized up people for a fight before a problem existed. Well, he was given warnings. More than one, from more than one source. What happened past that point was just going to happen.

Ash listened politely to the older man as he spoke, processing new information. A couple of points stood out to him as important. One of which being that the man was a former captive of Eden. He was pretty sure that it checked out, seeing as it was said openly in front of two of his teammates who he knew were part of the raid on Eden. So he was a rescue. "That means you might recognize someone from there if they came knocking. Good to know." His words were dry, bereft of any bias of inflection one way or another except for his mild but everpresent Virginian accent. He did give an approving nod as Manny pointed out the amputation handiwork with two others of his group. "Not bad." Though his words did not say it, he was rather impressed. Two limb removals, both alive, no continuing infection as far as he could tell from casual glance. Manny had brought proof with him that he had saved lives.

As to the highly general question about "his story" so far, Ash could not comment with anything very revealing. "After a while, maybe. That's a lot of ground, and some of it's not so nice." The same could be said of almost anybody these days. If you were alive, chances are you had to do a lot of questionable things to stay that way. Even for a relative Boy Scout like Ash. Or especially for a Boy Scout like Ash, depending on how one looked at it. Besides, the story of his life might read like a Greek Tragedy if someone put it to paper. He had no difficulties whatsoever throwing his two cents in concerning the issue of Hunter, however: "I don't think that talking for an evening is going to put much sense in the boy. He's either dealing with something or legitimately has a malfunction. Either way, hard pass." The Captain was a fan of keeping things like this out in the open. In Ash's mind, it was best that the younger man was in the room with him. If he was a threat, he was foremost a threat to him and not someone he cared about. The situation would sort itself out, one way or another.

For the moment, Ash was realizing what was playing on the television back behind him. It sparked a memory of one of the last conversations that he had with Thana, prior to ...everything. He had half a mind to quietly excuse himself and hurl something at the screen, else mention something scathing to the person who put it on. But either option would hardly be fair, with or without context. And it was a really good movie. Luckily, something occurred to divert his attention elsewhere.

Ash almost snapped to attention when Atticus returned, announcing that the additional guest of the establishment had arrived. He held up his hand to politely request that Manny hold off responding for a moment, as he was interested in getting a look at the latest arrival. In the intervening seconds, Ash maintained a solid, emotionless visage and straightened his posture, as a man expecting to either inspect or be inspected. When he saw the older man walk through the door, however, all of that changed.

"Huh..." It was unclear whether it was a question or a quiet laugh. More followed, quickly solving that mystery. "Heh heh... oh, man. That's just... HA!" He took a confident step or two toward the man, "You don't call," began Ash with humored sarcasm. His accent was a notably bolder. "You don't write," he continued, "And then you just drop by unexpected. Goddamn, Victor; It's good to see y..." He stopped, noting that the man was looking straight past him, over to Jack, Tati, and their baby boy. Ash still held a smile, but it was subdued behind a more dutiful nature. He crossed the distance, careful to stay out of direct line of sight between Victor and those he had been searching for. As he neared the man, Ash extended his hand. "Come on, Froggy," he said clearly and quietly. "Almost there. Let's get you to 'em."

Thalia Carmichael

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Thalia felt like a spectator. Everything that was going on around her seemed to bob to and fro, fro and to, and she was like a random kid at a birthday party in a bowling alley that no one was paying any particular attention to. As long as she pushed the ball down the lane when it was her turn, it didn't look like anyone cared what she was doing. So there she sat, still sideeyeing the Captain with coolly fierce exterior despite the fact that she figured that she had gone too far with the "sport-fucking" comment. Thalia did feel a certain sense of relief that it was met with a literal and figurative finger wag instead of escalating. She had been serious when she had told Alexander that full attention being off of them was preferable for her, given the situation.

Originally, the goal was to open conversation with Ash. She had questions about her family and the Fairburn girls. Barring that, slip into the people from Newnan, though her more recent dip away from social skills was making the possibility of a more or less decent first impression more of a chore that it really should have been. Okay, now wasn't a great time, either. Eventually she was going to get that man alone, but right now just wasn't happening. And Mugsy seemed to be holding himself together better, even dropping into the middle of an ongoing conversation. Hell, he was better at it than she was just then. He was going to be okay.

Thalia gave a light slap to Alexander's knee with her remaining hand and gave him a little nod. "Hey, I'm going to see what's up with the TV, 'k? Gimmie a yell if yah need something." With that, she rose from her seat and began to make her way over to the chairs and recliners around the film at hand, The Princess Bride. Thalia smiled. It wasn't much, but it was real and infectious, and reminded her that once upon a time, far back before the Zeds were eating the living, even before she knew her biological father or what half of her family was, Thalia was a little girl from Massachusetts who liked cute stories like this. Especially this one. It was a classic. And it had everything: Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles... For that matter, she remembered that she really liked My Little Pony, too.

"Hey guys," she said, keeping her words brief so as not to overextend. Anyone looking in her direction would see her setting a hand on the back of a nearby chair, staring at the scene unfolding on the television. Fine, no problem. If she couldn't immediately get in with the Newnan people, then she would probably have more luck with the crazy ones over here. "Princess Bride... awesome."

Again, attention was shifted heavily away from herself as the new guy was brought in. Wow. Just wow. This place had more rapid-fire emotional ups and downs than a 1980s telenovella. She was sticking with the TV crew for now.

Hank Wright

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

"Why the hell should I have any problem with it?" gruffly inquired Hank, propping his hands behind his head in a manner that suggested clear repose. "I'm not the Lord High Commander of the TV, no matter how awesome that job title sounds. Don't worry (and I know that dig was because you're so concerned with my feelings there, Sportacus), if Erica puts on something boring or unmasculine or a little too "Made For TV Lifetime Original Movie" - which definitely counts as both boring and unmasculine, but I digress - then I'll be more than happy to sit alone with my thoughts and give the back of my eyelids a good, hard stare for an hour or two. Just remember: The louder I snore, the more I like the movie." He gave Nigel a quick thumbs-up before replacing his hand back behind his head. "Okay there, buddy? Okay... Now hush, I wanna see if Peter Falk ever gets that kid to shut the hell up and let him read the damn book, already."

But speaking of Erica, Hank caught the air of sympathy for Nigel having to room with he and Wayne for the foreseeable. He gave a derisive smirk in her direction but reserved a continued rant for a later, indeterminate time. So much as they, as a group, didn't have the best of personality meshing and technically didn't have that solid of a beginning, they all had been in each other's company for the past few months now. They had opportunity to go their separate ways a few times, but for whatever reason stuck it out together, all the way here from the Okefenokee Swamp, of all places. Yeah, it was hard living with each other, but he trusted the people around him to cover his back, just as they (hopefully) trusted him to defend them solidly with a garden spade. Ok, he was pretty good with that shovel, being truthful. But still...

As Thalia approached, and immediately thereafter the explosion of movement and happy from elsewhere in the room, Hank took the moment to remain reserved. Let the people have their moment without comment or involvement. It looked like they needed a dose of whatever joy came from the man's presence. Hank was an asshole, as he would tell you, but not a fucking asshole. To Thalia, he just waved at a seat and said, "Yeah, yeah. Sit, don't sit. Damn good movie. You know, for a love story. Eh... Hank, Wayne, Erica, Sportacus." He gave the basest of introductions before turning his attention back to the TV. There was a moment going on behind them all that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with.

Lola Holler

Location: The Game Room
Why?: It's Time For A Special Appearance

The room was dark, until a single light came on and a very familiar face was seen. Her smile was bright and she waved over enthusiastically. "Hey y'all! Bet ya thought I was gone! HA! Well I am! Dead, done, doner, donest, six feet under, kicked the bucket, pushing up daisies, lost the ghost, is talking of Jesus, can I get a Hallelujah? Amen sister!" she said throwing up her hands. "So, you are asking, why the hell am I here? Well, we're gonna play a game and it ain't fucking monopoly! Which sucks because I rock at that game, I always play the shoe. Kick the bucket, shoe, get it? Damn I'm hilarious."

Pulling a hair brush from her pocket she grinned brightly and held it up like a mic. "We don't have a lot of cash, check one two, check," she said while tapping the top of the brush. Grinning and giggling she continued. "So, let me welcome to you The Dice Game! With my special guest, you know her, you love her, you hate her. She is the master of mayhem, the dealer of death, the master to my blaster! LADY LUCK! Give the woman a round of applause!"

Sitting back in a cushioned chair, Lady Luck smirked ever so slightly. "Darling you do make everything colorful don't you. Shall we proceed?" she asked in a droll voice and Lola giggled.

"Ain't she Miss Swank? On to the game. Over here we have six doors! Why you may ask, well it ain't to find the best neighborhood sitcom, I will tell you that. Behind each of these little doors, here, where are my fucking doors! You! Stage hand! Give me some lights on them doors!" Lola said waiving her hands around.

"Oh shit, sorry girl!" Jim's voice rang into the scene as he flipped on the lights and six very colorful doors were lit up like Christmas.

"Well ain't that just fucking aces! See, they're so pretty! Now, behind each of these doors we have a prize! What is the prize? Well right now you got that little ballerina over there. She ain't seen pops since she delivered that ragamuffin kid of hers. Now, we alls know she been through some shit. That back of hers like pulled taffy now stretched over bones but it works for her. Well that back ain't the only thing that has changed, her mind ain't exactly what it used to be. She's stronger, faster, more Russian!"

A light shone into an empty set of bleacher seats, minus one person. The face of the Circus! A heavy mustached man with a broad grin and many a sharp knife! He smiled brightly in his heavy fur coat and overly loud clothing. It was the original Bazhooli!

"We have 6, count them 6 mother fucking choices. All of which could lead down one road or another. This is like one of them damn pick your own adventure books you know? Remember them things? Damn they were fun! Well! That's what we are doing, our Lady Of The Luck over there is gonna toss her dice and we will get to see what happens! Show me whats behind the first door!"

Jim ran over to the door and opened it wide. "Oh, well look at that shit. The first door shows a big Nope hanging there. Oh Tatiana ain't gonna have anything to do with this. That would suck! Show me what's behind our next door!" Jim opened another. "Oh snap, a bucket of water. Bitch fucking faints! Now wouldn't that be something? Give me another Jim! Ain't he cute?" A knob turned and Jim pulled another open. "Aww, look at them hearts. Tatiana rushed the Frog man and gives him lots of hugs. Well we know Lady Luck ain't gonna roll that. Moving on! Next!" Bazhooli threw a knife and it popped the door open as Jim jumped out of the way. The door slowly coming open.

"God damn it man!" Jim muttered.

"That was fun! Oooo! Look at that angry emoji! Tatiana is pissed and we are all getting the Molly Grue feels! How could you! Come to me now! When I am this!" Oh yeah, Lola was over acting but it was how Lola was. "Next!" Jim crawled over and opened the next door, staying low. "A dust buster? What the fuck is that? And a Mop? OH! I get it! Cleaning up ashes, mopping the floor with him! She's gonna pull an Ash! In other words, dun dun dun, sucker punch!" She was giggling like a maniac by this time. "And the final door!" Jim eyed Bazhooli before crawling over and kicking in the last door. "Bubbles? Ohhh.... Old Tati resurfaces! HA! Like that will happen. Okay, we have our doors, close them.

The doors auto closed and Jim growled. "They were automatics?"

"Well duh, you could have just pushed the little red button!"

"What red button!" Jim yelled as he dusted himself off, standing there looking around like she was nuts. She was.

Feeling around, Lola laughed as she pulled out a little remote control. "This one! Oh, too late now. Lady Luck! Roll them dice! Determine the fates! Show us your power! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Pushing a button the doors randomized!

Lady Luck smiled and palmed a since dice in her hand, holding it up, it was an old bronze six sided dice. Blowing on it, she held it up and tossed it on a felt lined billiards table. The dice tumbled over itself time and time again, spinning up on one side. Then falling over.... Lola leaned in. Fucking Aces!"

Picking up the dice she looked at it and held it up. "Show me what's behind door number two!"

"Push the damn button Lola!" Jim yelled.

"Oh yeah!" she laughed before pushing the button and the newly randomized door number two opened. "Well fuck, ain't that some shit. Stay tuned! Because you will get to see what you won! Lady Luck, thank ya! Now, take us back to our regularly scheduled program! Up next? Tatiana reacts to seeing the Frog man for the first time in nearly 10 months! What will happen? Only the dice know and well all of us here at the studio! Toodles bitches!" she waved as the screen faded to black.

Tatiana Newnan

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

While some where not really paying attention to the new comer, Tatiana was. This new comer was going to be bedding down tonight in the same room as her husband and her son. If whoever came through that door was half the problem that kid had been so far she might just find a creative use for that spoon she still had with her, pushed into her jeans pocket. She wasn't exactly the most creative when it came to weapons but this was her son we're talking about. Momma Bear should really be considered a world skill as it can cover so much when it comes to protecting a child. A woman can do nearly anything when she is looking out her offspring. She was ready to size up the person, look the person over, read whatever she could from them. Try to discern just who and more importantly what they were. Thing was, whatever plans she had or ideas running through her head, those flew right out the window as the man walked into the room.

Tatiana took a single step forward, reaching up and rubbing her eyes, before her hands lowered and she blinked. Jack spoke and she nodded. "Papa..." she whispered. He wasn't really her father yet she had lost hers in the war so long ago when she was so young. Victor had been her father the last years, taking her under his wing and teaching her, being there for her, he had given her away when she married Jack, he had helped her out of Newnan, he had watched over her while she was pregnant, he had delivered her son happy and healthy. Out of all the people in her life, Froggy was the man she looked up to, her dad, her papa.

There were so many ways the little ballerina could have reacted. She could have been angry, that he had left and not come back. That she had been through everything she had alone with her son, that she was so changed now because of him not being there. She could have screamed. She could have rushed and hit him, she could have just fainted. Hell she could have found that little bit of her that still remained that was once the bubbly little scared girl and just started giggling uncontrollably. There were so many ways she could have reacted but it seemed that the Lady of Luck finally, if only this once, decided that love trumps all. Slowly her feet went in front of each other. Walking slowly forward. "Da, is Papa..." she whispered as she walked away from Jack and crossed the floor over to him, rushing the man as fast her her feet could carry her.

A hand came over to Ash and she gently pushed him aside. It wasn't forceful. It was warm and soft. Gradually she dropped to one knee and then the other. Her eyes wet as she let out a little laugh, reaching out and then falling against Froggy lightly, her arms wrapping around him as she pulled herself close. Like a little girl who had just been surprised in class after her dad was overseas for months, if not years. "Papa," she whispered in a bird like voice that cracked. Hugging the man before pulling back and looking again, not knowing what else to say, just pulling him and hugging him again. It was probably a good thing Ash had been partly in the way. If he hadn't or if anyone else would have been in her way she would have mowed them down to get to the man, pulling a Tati-tackle hug.

Wayne Maldonado

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Wayne chuckled and wiggled his butt some more in his seat. "Aww girl, I can go all night long!" he laughed before looking over at the Tv and enjoying the simple things in life. It wasn't every day in this world that you had a full stomach, a comphy seat, where clean, and got to sit and fart on a unicorn. If he were some random fucking kiwi from New Zealand he might have said this was all fucking aces but he wasn't, so it was just a god damn good time in his book. He really wasn't paying attention to the new comer, he had gotten his answer about the general. He wondered what he was like. If he was anything like the man that had come in earlier, he might be a bit up tight. In fact, everyone but Panama so far seemed uptight on some level. People needed to relax. On that thought he did start humming Relax as he sat there watching the story of Buttercup and her Wesley. "As you fucking wish. Ain't that just the best way to say that lovey dovey shit without the whole world knowing what you're saying? Shit, I gotta use that line!" he chuckled.

Looking over as Tatiana started moving, Wayne's attention got turned from the movie in front of him over to the scene unfolding. Last time she had made a move someone had been knocked to the ground. She was running, for a second but she stopped. Wayne's head tilted to the side. He had expected her to tackle Ash away from the man, why he didn't know, but it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. When she dropped to her knees and started hugging the man his eyes widened. The man had been speaking French, she spoke Russian, and she was calling him Papa? "Talk about cross cultural familia," he chuckled before reaching down and scratching his ass, or at least it looked like that, but what he was really shoving that buck-toothed fucking ferry a little deeper into the chair cushion.

Year 5: Update

Date: July 15th, 2012
Map in Original OOC post - NPC's In CS Tab

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: H6 (Quarantine: W)

Temperature: 94F (34C)
Humidity: Fucking High (Around 98%) - Raining off and on all day
Wind Speed: 7 MPH (11 KPH)
Cloud Coverage: About 51% covered with thick dark clouds

Atticus smiled and gave a nod. "No problem," he said before turning his head and noting Doc was back. Heading over to the table, he fixed a plate of food from what was left for the man and poured him a glass of juice. Walking it over and setting it down for the man at a table so he could eat once he came in. The man had seemed a little weak and tired when he came in, far more than the other had so he figured he could use the meal more than most. It was nearly the end of dinner time now but Mae probably wouldn't bringing in more unless it was sent for. Thing was, while a lot of the food was gone, there was still plenty left and if the gas coming out of Wayne was any indicator, their stomachs probably didn't need something else new at this point. Best to just stick with what they already had.

Major stood there watching but Panama took a step forward, wondering if shit was about to hit the fan but it seemed it wasn't. "You know each other?" Doc asked a bit surprised but then laughed. "Well shit, that's great," he added with a smile as Atticus came over.

"Huh, god works in mysterious ways, least this time it isn't one of those four horseman ways," Atticus said before kneeling down.

"General is on the way in, ve need to get people off the floor," Major commented. Atticus nodded and looked back at the man with the ballerina basically in his lap at this point.

"Come on, let's get you over to the couch and you can eat, you're rooming with Jack and the baby," he said motioning over to them. "And Alexander," he said motioning in the other direction.

"Yeah, come on everyone, time to get seated. General will be in soon and," Panama said as he picked up the bag that Claire had brought in, taking it over to the table by the couch where Atticus had set down the meal for Victor. "Ya don't wanna keep the main man waiting."

*Make sure everyone is seated and ready for the General this round - I need posts in quick for this one so we can move forward! Please get all your replies in BEFORE WEDNESDAY ENDS! (You will be skipped over and miss chance to react if you don't - you will be bunnied and nullifed this round in other words. Time to wrap this day up.)

Alexander Polawski

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Alexander sat quietly and listened to the conversation between Manny, Ash and Beatrice, content with letting himself be left alone. After all he wasn't being talked to directly by any of them, only mentioned which he didn't mind, and he enjoyed the peace and quiet his shut mouth gave him. Especially when the prospect of talking about their past was being put forth by Manny. So yeah, Alexander kept quiet as the standing people chatted. He looked back at Father Atticus as he answered that he couldn't tell him, it was for someone else to do that. Yup, sure sounded like "I'm just following orders. If you don't like them, you can put your complaint up to brass."

Why was it things around Alexander more and more reminded him of his Army years and not the life afterwards? Alexander would have preferred that his mind wasn't working so hard against him like it had for…how long? At this point it was longer than he could remember, perhaps his mind still wasn't entirely cleared of the earlier screaming-shouting incident. Perhaps it was that it ironically Alexander the Veteran that fit the post-apocalypse the best, and not Alexander the seller of electronic appliances. Was he the man didn't want to be, but had to?

Alexander looked up from his moment of comteplation to feel Thalia's hand on his knee. He had zoned-out for much of the conversation between the others, but Thalia he noticed. "Sure thing. Give me a shout if you need me you too." ol' Mugsy said back to her, giving her a smile and watching her make her way over to the Tv-group. Alexander was curious as to what they were watching, but he left it to Thalia to og check it out. He wasn't about to sit down with the guy who'd called out the whole room, and frankly he liked it with his own people. Alexander looked up at the people chatting, only for his eyes to be pulled towards the door and the announcement of the new survivor.

He had never seen the man before, and had no idea how he had arrived here. But as Alexander noticed he others in the room seeing the man, he couldn't help but think that the others did. Jack called him dad, Ash called to him and went to greet him while Tatiana went straight in for a hug. It was a touching scene, this was clearly someone Ash's group knew and cared about. Alexander half-smiled at the sight, looking over at Thalia over with the tv and Beatrice and Manny still with him. He wondered…if Alexander had gone missing or gotten lost, would they have reacted the same way? Would they have missed him, or…Alexander shook the thought off, though looked up at Beatrice after Panama announced the General would arrive soon. "You know the guy?"

Nigel "Hadrian" Cooper

Location: Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

"Don't worry about, I'll be fine with them. At least they're going to have fun." Nigel said back to Erica, trying to see the fun in a situation that would normally seem hopeless. As far as he was concerned, he wasn't wrong that Hank and Wayne would have a great time annoying their favourite Sportacus, while Nigel himself could expect nothing but raw shenanigans the coming time in quarantine. Perhaps it was for the best, now that at least the others in the room wouldn't have to deal with the madman or grumpy Shovel Knight? Nigel looked over at Wayne for a moment, catching the reference that he was looking forward to later, and actually shot him a smile as he shook his head and held up his hand. "Five fingers, Wayne. I'd hate to die." For a surprising moment, Nigel wasn't annoyed or concerned with Wayne. That was sure to og back to their old ways. Perhaps Nigel was letting his guard down during the movie?

The question of who the newcomer was did catch Nigel "Hadrian's" attention. Who was it? Had someone followed them from the round-up with the two other groups? From before that, from the swamp? It caught his attention more than one of the bald girls having thrown up, and Nigel wasn't commenting on it. He knew better than to put more attention to it, she was probably embarresed. Nigel looked to Erica as they all sat down like one big happy family enjoying a movie, giving her a nod to her picking the next movie. He leaned back in the couch again, not having been this comfortable for a very long time. Right then and there he didn't mind the whole "Comfort makes soft men" thing he had lived by out in the land of the Undead, he was damn comfortable.

Nigel's attention was split three-fold: The TV and the movie, the one-handed woman from the smaller group of survivors, and the final reveal of the new guy. Nigel first looked at Thalia as she came over and stood behind a chair, trying to remember if her name had been mentioned before. Nothing came to him for now, but he gave her polite smile. She was a stranger, and out there he would have been reluctant to be so friendly to her, like how he'd behaved towards Robert when he first met the now gone martyr. In here, behind strong walls and with fellow strangers however, he could afford to be nice. At least nicer than Hank, who Nigel instinctively didn't respond to other than an equal thumbs-up. "It's Nigel. Hey." he tried to correct Hank while talking to Thalia, waving at an empty seat as well. "Make yourself comfortable, we just started."

Then it was the last part, the one where was a big commosion behind them. Nigel turned around to see the newcomer on the floor, the members of the large group collectively witness a long-lost son gone off to Gaul to fight for Rome now return after being presumed dead, and Tatiana nearly charging the man. Nigel readied himself for a split second to get up and finally intervene, until he saw the result of the battle, and smiled; she hugged him. This was clearly someone dearly loved by their group. Nigel slid back down into his comfortable couch with Erica, feeling good for the group's moment back there. Perhaps this was no Greek tragedy after all, but a comedy?

The soon arrival of the General would maybe give Nigel "Hadrian" that answer. But first, a little watch-time of a certain bride.

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

Location: Quarantine
Skills: N/A

Manny smiles at Alexander's comment about dental hygiene and Manny's participation in that. "Any time is a good time to refresh dental hygiene." Though that wasn't completely true, it was a bit of a creative way for Manny to say Any Time to his fellow baby boomer. The discussion of Hunter, the soldier boy, seemed to give some worry to him though, he wondered if Alexander saw something in the boy that reminded him of himself? They were both military, and Alexander was probably in at a pretty young age, much like Hunter. "Don't worry, we're just going to try to help him adjust to things. Talk to him and figure out what we can about him. Stuff like that. We're not going to beat the shit out of him or anything, I don't think that will do much other then make him worse anyways. I think he just needs to feel comfortable enough to talk. That did it for me while I grew up." He wondered what the boy would have been like if the world didn't end, or if he have had more time to grow up. Manny was still hard pressed to believe he was military, he seemed early 20s at most, that country he was in the military for ceased to exist over five years ago, almost six.

Manny had a good time continuing the conversation with Ash. Many was a conversationalist. Sure he probably wasn't one, but everyone in his group was emotionally closed off. Not that he blamed them, but it did make it hard to strike up conversations. "I wasn't captive long, so I didn't see too many of them. The only faces I cam remember are the immediate guards I had..." Manny vaguely remembers shooting them with the gun he stole back, and using another as a shield as bullet after bullet filled the man. Manny wished he had died faster, it was hard to willingly hold a human being to shield himself. "...I might also be able to remember the ones that first captured me. But it's probably best I wasn't there long, I don't think I could have made it far otherwise if I had been there even a couple more days." Manny couldn't be sure if they had gotten the ones who had first captured him. Maybe the team killed them before he got out, maybe they fell when the building collapsed, or maybe they were out gathering more survivors and were still at large... Rebuilding... or enslaving. Manny pushed those thoughts aside, the last thing he needed was to worry about being in another cage. "If I see any though, I will let you know." He said reassuringly hiding the fear from his thoughts.

Conversation continued to medical work, then to the boy again. He didn't seem convinced that they could do much for the boy. "Sure maybe not one day would do it, but once we get him talking, get him opening up, he might lighten up, be less aggressive. But I understand not wanting to take that challenge on today. Maybe he just needs time to adjust." Even though Manny wanted to help, he had seem come pretty fucked up people in his life. Manny's money was on Hunter dealing with something that he didn't know how to. The question is what? and what effect did it have on him? What was he hiding about himself? He wondered if the soldier boy would be the type to hide weapons in their room? Maybe try to kill a guard? God he hoped not. Looking over again, Hunter was still watching them, drinking that last cup of coffee. Was he sizing them up? Deciding how he would kill them both? He was malnourished and weak, Manny didn't think he could hold a real fight in his condition. But he seemed like someone who was used to being desperate. Someone who would get creative. Manny realized he was staring back, the boy didn't break eye contact. Hunter just kept watching. Manny was concerned at this point, but he did his best to hide it. Though it wasn't to just Manny, it was to Ash too. He was trying to figure out something about them. He hoped it was something simple, like if he was willing or able to trust his new roommates.

Ash held up his hand to polity put a hold on their conversation when the new man entered. He just returned the nod, they would be locked in a room together all night anyways, they had time to talk later. Plus, this seemed like a pretty big and important family reunion. It made Manny happy to see, and gave Manny better hopes for this place so far. Sure the man was another newcomer like them, but it was a central hub of sorts that people could wonder towards. And it worked well. Seeing everyone gather up again like this, it was amazing to see.

Panama gave the word. It was time for this General character to show his face. In all honesty, this man could be the make or break for Manny on his final opinion of the place. He had a lot of concerns about this place, mostly around the military/police state it seemed to stay in, the military dictatorship feeling he got from the brief description, and the lack of professional behavior from the guards they had. Though he was starting to like some people here, he wanted to be sure that what he was getting himself into wasn't going to be the end all. Though not like he had a lot of options if things didn't pan out. Not like he could pack his things, stock up on meds and shells, and open a new dental office right outside town. He would do his best to make this place work out, but he needed to know more. He took his seat and prepared for whatever came next. He took his seat and prepared for the man in charge.

The old guy and the Captain talked a while, he was pretty sure it was about Himself but he couldn't be sure. What he did notice is that the old man kept looking back towards him, and at one point held eye contact for what seemed like minutes. He almost wanted to say something, but his words so far had gotten things pretty bad for him. So he drank his coffee waiting for the old man to stop looking at him. It was creepy. The two kept talking for a while but nothing seemed to change. Sure the old man broke eye contact to keep making conversation, but he kept looking back. Was he sizing him up? Was he deciding how he would take him on in a fight? No. That couldn't be it. He was a quiet old man with not much going for him. Maybe he old man thought he was sizing him up? That could make sense, but he already did that and decided that the Captain was the real threat. Now he was just keeping tabs because he was sure they were talking about him.

Soon enough a new person came in, wearing the same new people clothes that they had. Then things got... emotional. The Russian mother ran over and hugged the man, calling him papa. He watched as others went to greet and embrace him. It was... sad. No... sad was the wrong word. But he couldn't pull up the word he wanted. He felt a large mix of emotions, sad, jealous, angry, empty. He felt confused as well, he couldn't understand how all of these people could be near their loved ones while he sat in his chair wondering where his family was. He tried to hide his mixed emotions. It mostly came out as sitting in the corner staring at his coffee hiding back tears. He was liking this place less and less as things went. He hated being forced to experience these emotions again, he hated being unarmed in a room full of people that may or may not stab him in the back, shoot him, tackle him, he didn't trust any of these people.

At this point, he was left sitting in a pool of his own emotions. He wouldn't react verbally to them, and did a decent job hiding them in his facial expressions. There was a part of him that wanted those that were reunited to be happy again. It was heart warming in its own way. But his main mindset was focused more on when his turn would be. When did he get to go hug his family again? Then he figured, what if he wouldn't? What if he died before then? Or worse. They were. He took the last few sips of his coffee, trying to enjoy it, but the taste fell flat on him. It tasted like anything else has had recently. Bland.

He took a moment to look back up when talk of the General started up. He didn't pay too much attention. He knew how to handle officers, even if he didn't show it. Or even if he didn't care a lot. While he looked up though, he saw again how happy all those people seemed again. He wanted to hate them for it, he wanted so badly for that to be him, for his family to be the ones who walked through that door. But he couldn't help but smile thinking about them. His emotions were still conflicted, but he thought about that small baby, they had a family, parents, family friends, grandparents. He let himself smile at that despite being upset himself. He wondered if this all was punishment for the things he has had to do to make it here so far.

Amelia Payne

Location:Camp Mexico Beach: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Amelia was really glad that Preacherman and Riley were trying to lift up her mood. hearing stories about Riley's past experiences certianly was enough to gather her attention good on the subject. All in all things were proceeding slightly better again. At least she had already thrown up once, for now she didn't expect things could go too much worse right away. Naturally the universe could very well damn choose to prove her wrong soon enough, but who can know what fate has in store anyways? Frankly given the things they had went through to get here, she was hoping they will be given some leeway now. At least enough to settle down again, get their hopes up? Ahm her paranoid side was whispering to her again it seemed. She nearly went down the route to believing that this was all just a ruse from the universe to get their hopes up so it can crush them again...

Shacking her head lightly to get the darker thoughts away from her mind, Amelia managed to put a small smile on her face as people were arriving after all, her wonder who it was, turned out ot be rather short lived as a certain face appeared in the room." Eh?" She made a surprised face as a fragment of her memory from Newnan was stirred.' It can't be! Froggy?' She was rather shocked and surprised. She had expected they had lost him for good too, after all it was already a miracle they had found Tati again. Now it turned out the Frenchman was also there! This was a huge news that had shocked her greatly. She watched in pleasant surprise as Tati, Jack and Ash went to receive Froggy into the room more or less. A part of her told her to not get involved right now. Emotions were high... high emotions led to usually bad things.

Before anything else could happen though, they were told the general was going to be visiting. Whomever the general was, they were at least going to see now who was in charge." Let's get back to our seats, Riley." Amelia said quietly to her love and walked back to the chair she had left just earlier when her stomach rose a revolution. She picked back the book she had dropped and sat down, holding onto it for comfort. It didn't seem as a good time to resume reading though, probably after the official things ended, though she suspected they would be made to get to their rooms and locked down after the meeting with the general ended and she highly doubted the power would be running for much longer after that in their rooms.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine)
Skills:

Riley stood there for a few moments as her attention turned over towards the door again and then she stopped as she instantly recognized the new face, or rather old face now from Newnan. It was Victor and she couldn't help but smile, she did enjoy the old man's company and she did get along with Froggy while in Newnan. Ashton was the first to get up, and then Tatiana she looked over towards Amelia for a moment she wanted to say hello to him and give him a hug. As much as she hated the idea of leaving Amelia again, it would only be for a few seconds and quickly made her way over towards him. Riley quickly gave Victor a tight hug and smiled towards him, she'd have time to chat later anyway.

"It's great to see you again Victor." Riley said towards Victor and smiled to the old man before making her way back towards Amelia and sat back down in the chair next to her. She leaned in and gave Amelia another quick kiss and smiled a little bit towards her, she then listened to Atticus that they would be seeing the General now. Riley started to wonder who the old man was actually like, and she had a feeling that he maybe military as well since the name General was always something to do with the military and so far the people she had met were all military as well.

Erica Monroe

Location: Camp Mexico Beach, Florida, W (Quarantine)

Erica turned her attention towards Hank for a moment and smirked slightly. "I'll make sure to pick one of those really sappy Lifetime movies then just for you to enjoy." Erica said as she leaned back in her seat and then looked over her shoulder seeing that it was Thalia the girl with a missing hand. She gave the woman a slight smile she wasn't sure what the woman was like so far, as everyone started to introduce themselves one by one now. "I'm Erica it's nice to meet you." Erica said towards the woman, and gave her a slight nod when she looked over towards the door for a moment seeing that there was a new face now as well. "Well if they annoy you just let me know." Erica said towards Nigel and smiled slightly sometimes she did feel like the mother of the group when they all first met.

She started to watch the scene slowly unfolding it seemed that the largest group seemed to know the newcomer pretty well as the woman who decked Ashton earlier seemed to be really close to him. And then Ashton came over as well looking at the others for a moment and then the group that was watching TV with her. "Seems that they really knew each other pretty well." Erica said as she started to turn down the volume on the TV a bit, seeing as the big man was coming in pretty soon now as well.

Ash Holloway

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Ash let his had fall to his side, straightening back up to his full height. Victor hadn't traveled as far as he had because of a general desire to be reunited with the people of Newnan. Or maybe he did, it wasn't like Ash was a mind reader. The older man's sights seemed to be only for Tatiana, Jack, and little Jamie. And he couldn't blame him in the least. With a smile birthed of contentment for the four of them all, Ash stepped back and let them have their moment without trying to intrude further. It's not like he was going to try anything while they were hugging, kneeling there on the floor.

But someone did. Stunned almost beyond the capacity for facial expression, Ashton just stood there as his eyebrows raised to proportions virtually unheard of outside of the harrowing (but thankfully now defunct) world of "plastic surgery disaster" themed reality television. He raised his hand, motioning toward the unfolding scene as Riley went for it, mouth opened slightly as if considering his options. He still didn't speak. Yet. Ultimately, he gave it a wait until she was finished expressing her satisfaction to see Victor before venturing to address the situation.

When he did, the rural sarcasm common to the culture of Ash's upbringing sounded as surely as the Old Dominion color of his voice; sometimes lilting with the tiniest tinge of amusement, and sometimes rasping with an annoyance that was more avuncular in nature than condescending: "Now, Miss Ridgeway... I know you look up to me - I'd look up to me, too. I'm just a hell of a guy, ask anybody." He shook his head slightly, continuing, "But if the aim is to get your very own imprint of Tatiana's wedding ring on the side of your face just like me, then you are on your way, little lady." Quieter, he summarized, "That's a moment they're not getting back. I'd chalk it up to a sudden rush of blood sugar and let it slide, but I'm not rooming with the Russian firecracker. Best of luck."

Ash gave it the slightest piece of hope that the verbal discourse would be noted and accepted as enough of a dressing down for the meantime. There was a touching moment to get back to, damnit, and whomever was in charge of this place was about to show up. The last thing they needed was to be at each other's throats. Again. If the last hour or so of their lives was any indicator, this might be too much to hope for. They appeared to be losing their sense of discipline, washed away by alternating emotion and apathy. Ash could only cross his fingers and wait to see if all of them, including himself, would even out after the initial shock of change had abated.

Thalia Carmichael

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Yeah, of course the loudmouth that kept swatting at some imaginary bug would have to say something that made Thalia feel a twinge of awful. At least it wasn't intentional. How could it be? He didn't know her from ignorant, apple-picking Eve and even if the guy knew about her family, she was always the odd one out, or the one that didn't get counted among the rest because her last name never got changed to match her father's. Thalia had to admit though, sometimes it was a blessing. Her features made her what was commonly referred to among the community to which they belonged a "Stealth Latina", meaning that despite her mixed heritage, she could easily pass for Caucasian. In her case, particularly Italian/Sicilian with extreme ease. Naturally, being trained as she was, the term could be used to mean something a little more literal. She was a very stealthy Latina.

Back to it, the guy went and used the phrase "cross cultural familia". That stung a little. Not that it reminded her of someone she had lost, but that in her epic quest to maintain a lowered profile, Thalia had neglected to get back to something she was supposed to speak to the priest about. Now that Father Pearson had entered the room, she had immediately taken interest in what was on the television instead of dealing with family matters. Thalia had asked the man earlier if he had heard of a Father Benicio Gonzalez, hoping that another man of the cloth might know something. As a side note, being who she was already didn't make for the smoothest of childhoods; the fact that her dad was a Catholic priest wasn't a great help with that, either.

It seemed that Thalia had been trying like hell to get into one or another purportedly important conversations with one or another person since this day began. Strike that, she began the day by trying unsuccessfully to remove a duct tape boobytrapped rubber duckie. Following that moment, she had been trying to get into one or another conversation about things which may or may not involve her family; alive, dead, or fates unknown. Well, to hell with trying not to get noticed. She was already uncomfortable in this new and unknown place, surrounded by unfamiliar people, with unnaturally cool air blown across her body. It would be difficult to make her feel more uncomfortable than she was, short of something really unexpected flying at her.

Still, no need to be rude. Any more than she had been today, anyway. Some had slipped out before her brain could tell her it was a bad idea. Maybe apologies later. For now, she addressed the guy who waved her to a specific seat. The older guy had called him something, but that was contradicted by the man himself. "Yah thanks, Spo- Nigel." She noted the one woman of the group repeating her name after the grumpy man's sparse introductions. "Yeah. Thalia." She seemed a little distracted. "MmmNigel, can you save that seat for me? Gaht something." Crossing her arms so as to partly hide the fact that she was missing part of one, Thalia started moving toward Atticus. She stopped when she heard that the head man of this place would be arriving very soon. Damn it. That Padre had something to tell her about her familia, maybe her father. Or he was jerking her around. Either way, Thalia wanted to know.

Thalia would still have opportunity later, she reasoned. There was a Sunday coming up in these seven days of quarantine and she knew that at least one of their number was Catholic. If not before then, she was going to ambush the fucker at confession. But for now, the devious woman stalked back to the reserved chair by the television and took a seat. Timing. All about timing. She needed to bide hers for answers. From this priest, the Army Captain, San Antonio, or Monterrey, she was going to get those answers. But first, The Princess Bride. She really did like that movie.

Hank Wright

Location: Quarantine (Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Erica's quip about movie selection earned her a loud, nigh obnoxious, nasally log-sawing sound that very much mimicked a cartoon character snoring into a tin can. Just before it went too far into monotonous repetition, his nonverbal retort was interrupted by a sudden change to a sharper note, followed by Hank fluttering his eyelids as if rousing himself from a deep, zero-fucks-given sleep. An obviously fake yawn followed, then the steely-cynical man made a show of stretching his arms and popping his neck. "Ah, sorry there, Barbs. Must've nodded off there for a sec. I miss anything important?"

Replacing his hands behind his head, Hank settled back into a glorious repose as the TV continued to glow and tell its story. It wouldn't be long now until whoever ran this circus graced them with an appearance, so he should probably get as much screen time in as he could. Precious seconds, all of them, for a person who had not feasted his eyes upon what used to be the modern conveniences of entertainment. Especially considering that it was a hobby wherein one might sit and tune out the rest of the people around him. Well, except for his Apocalypse Buddy, Wayne. "That's right there, Maldonado. You go use that line on the blonde bus driver, eh... name escapes me. Daytona! There ya go." He appeared to mull over some consideration or another before resuming, "Know what, that might not be a bad idea, actually. Go for it, Wayne." There wasn't a trace of sarcasm in his last words, rather a masculine air of approval. Hank was pretty sure that everyone alive Before had seen the movie, and definitely everyone living in this settlement post-apocalypse had to have seen it, VHS being something of a rarer commodity these days and entertainment of any type harder to come by. And for crap's sake, good on the guy. Reaching out to other people, if he did indeed intend to and he wasn't just using the idea of the line for conversational fodder. It was something that Hank himself wasn't sure he wanted to do yet. If he was serious, then really, good on him.

Naturally, just to keep the conversation around the ol' TV from getting too fuzzy or emotional, Hank turned his attention back to Erica, who for reasons unknown to him (kindasorta) felt the need to turn the television down. "Hey, make sure to pick out one of those Valerie Bert'n'Ernie movies, huh? You know she starred in half of those damn things for Lifetime, and the plots are all exactly the same. Better than chasing a couple Xanax with some green NyQuil to get that beauty sleep, eh? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about." He gave an exaggerated wink and copped a cheesy smile, just for the occasion.
