Being a man of 6 feet and 4 inches can put many men off guard, and having an agile muscular build would only lend to the daunting visage. Yet despite all this Jones is not one for the flashy attire of modern day heroes and villains. In his eyes, clothing isn't a mesh of garments for casual or formal wear, its a uniform, and like all uniforms, his is tailor-made to represent his occupation, a high-profile bodyguard. As is such, he is required to dress well or intimidatingly at all times. Thus Jones is usually seen in a white button-up casually undone to show is chained chest, slim-fit blue jeans and brand snow-white loafers. Often times this is accessorized with a brown blazer and gold watches and rings. Other times he may be sporting his white Gi, striped black on the sides from neck to feet, casually undone, with black belt prominent, gold-framed sunglasses and sneakers on.

Born a hustler, Jermaine was out on the streets of Brooklyn making money the only way a 7th grader or "shorty" could on his block, running with a gang. During the early 2000's he ran with his gang of delinquents, home invading, committing petty larceny and engaging regular assaults on rival neighborhood gangs. Despite coming from a fairly sound home regardless of his father's frequent jailing, the gang provided what school and his family could not: camaraderie and money; the latter of which his family lacked plenty of. Being the youngest of a family of three it fell on Jermaine, the man of the house, to provide some sort of financial support. This no doubt was a course of action encouraged by his father and discouraged by his mother, and only more vehemently with the onset of metahumans rocking the nation.
Jermaine's gang operation eventually came to an end when an especially brutal assault landed him a two-month long stint in Rikers Island. A stay which made living in the projects seem like a wet dream. It was this experience that only added fuel to Jermaine's ambition for material wealth. Upon being released he joined up with his old gang who began running operation low-level drug operations for the Gorilla Stone Bloods, usually acting as dealers within Gorilla territory.
By the time Jermaine reached his senior year of high school the metahuman population had exploded, and the Gorilla's where quick to induct a number of willing superhumans into the family. With said additions, the gang had no issues riding south Brooklyn of rival gangs and being the dominant drug traffickers of the entire region.
While Jermaine had risen the ranks from peddling marijuana to cooking cocaine the money still fell short of satisfying him. With no other dream or ambition than to live life like a movie star, he persisted. Around him, society began to destabilize with the Registration Act wreaking havoc in the streets. Then came the first of the demonic incursions, within just two months completely devouring the western half of the United States. While the Seven Wonders of the World moved in to defend the world Jermaine found himself placidly apathetic to the plight. He and none of his own perished, therefore Jermaine only had one job to do, keep on hustling. The drug market exploded, the civil war and demonic invasion throwing many deep into the well of addiction in order to cope, and Jermaine was only happy to take their money.
By 2011 the Gorilla Stone Bloods became the Gorilla Stone Family as it began swallowing rival gangs into its ranks and inducting humans and non-humans to supplement its numbers. By the end of the year, the GS Family was one of the wealthiest gangs in Brooklyn, offering protection, drugs, sex trafficking, and various other good and services to those within its sphere of influence. Jermaine at the time had done no better from himself, only garnering a small number of workers to supplement his GS Family sanctioned cocaine operation. It wasn't until a drug deal went wrong did life change for him.
Jermaine and his crew along with a contingent of GS dispatched men and an oddly gi-clad fellow had been sent to make a trade in the Tillary Hotel. Before the door to the room could be open, gunfire erupted. In mere moments almost all of the GS members had been massacred but were it not for the gi-clad man who seemed to ignore gunfire and move with the speed of a metahuman, Jermaine would have died that night, body full of lead. Fascination led him to ask of the man who he was, to which he explained that his name was simply Mr. William, personal bodyguard to the upper echelon of the GS Family, and for saving his life he was indebted to him. Jermaine would work or his personal assistant or die here, no one would be able to tell him apart from the rest of the dead bodies. Fervor took Jermaine now, a damn good opportunity to get in good with the upper echelon and possible eat bullets? Best believe he'd repay.
As was such, Mr. William took Jermaine on, passing down lesson after lesson, having him work with master after master until nearly 9 years later, the title of grandmaster graced his head. In payment Jermaine was to take Mr. Williams place as GS bodyguard when his end came, until then, he was to work. Jermaine now "Jones" quickly made a name for himself working as a bodyguard for high-profile bosses and celebrities, leaving those who crossed them or even attempted to touch them maimed or dead. Secretive and reserved, everything you expect from a man like Jones. Socially, Jones is closed off; he hasn't opened up to anyone since he was a child. Even to comrades, he is a stranger shrouded in an air of mystery. He speaks only in brief, biting messages and is evasive of any prying questions. He generally displays the comportment expected of a teenager: arrogant, defensive, and critical of anything he is discordant with. Nevertheless, penetrate his gruff work exterior and you will find him affable, something that is usually achieved with a little alcohol and some women.
Ironically, Jones is no saint or upstanding citizen. At best, his integrity can be described as: slipshod, manipulative, and deceitful. He has been shown to give his reliability to only one person and that is to the highest bidder.
Jones isn't easily distracted from a task. Focused and controlled; he would never allow his impulses and desire cloud his judgment. Albeit he is bold and intrepid, which is often construed as reckless behavior, every action taken is deliberate and calculated. Once he sets his sights on something, he is steadfast on getting it. Such knowledge has also garnered him the ability to close the meridians of others, causing them chronic pain from the clog that can even become crippling with time. Aside from its physical uses it also has its mental and spiritual. With a clear mind Jones' senses are boosted twofold and his psyce is protected from low to mid level telepaths or mind manipulators. Meditation is warranted in the case of master level manipulators. Despite the Chi's versatility, overuse can prove fatal, forcing Jones to only utilize this power in short controlled bursts, lest risk overexertion or worse death.

- Pain, Passion & Demon Slayin': With the onset of magic and it's swift introduction into the black market, access to supernatural goods and services abound to those with the right connections. Jones is one such man, with ties to great families he has garnered unrestricted access to the depths of the black market. Using this connection he had his his old katana enchanted with various wards and enhancements: making it harder, capable of blocking low to mid level magic, and even glowing when demon-kind has been sensed within the vicinity.
- Stankonia: A pair of nunchucks enchanted with the element of lightning, allowing Jones to stun and shock enemies when hit and send arc of the stuff when wielding. It is also capable of overloading certain systems and technology that lack surge protection, although the beating from the blunt object is likely to do the intended job anyway.
- Shuriken: A number of concealed throw-able stars that have no enhanced properties to speak of.

Amongst common people, D'Anthony is an abomination. His abnormal growth and muscle mass has corrupted the standard long, slender frame of most people into a hulking giant of 6'3" ft -- 5'11" when in armor -- with an astonishing weight of 220 lbs exactly. His monstrous body is wrapped in soft, earthy toned skin, like brown autumn leaves during fall. Coincidentally, there is further similarity between Whisper and leaves present within the linear patterns in his skin and the veins in a leaf. These lines form intricate designs that cover his entire body, converging at a single point to form a strange symbol on the back of his neck. Though you would never know it, for the symbol is always obscured by dreaded locks of brown hair, which fall just passed his shoulder blades. His face has long since been a victim plagued by these obstructions. Often, stray, rampaging lochs will seek to interrupt the world seen through D'Anthony's deep brown eyes, which discern that he has seen much more than his youthful features let on. This fact is reassured after hearing his voice that is filled with the certainty of knowingness from experiences passed.

D'Anthony is a strong-willed, lighthearted, cheerful young man who yearns for adventure and to experience everything that life has to offer. To others, he is a naive, headstrong troublemaker who shirks the responsibilities of a 'hero'. Both viewpoints are equally valid.
The young man is somewhat mischievous. His trademark oft-present grin and lust for exploring often land him in trouble with conservative, authoritarian figures such as police or rather stalwart heroic figures. He is rather notorious for trespassing just about anywhere, a remnant of his childhood wanderlust and nomadic blood. Thankfully, D'Anthony is a genuinely well-meaning person, and his lack of borders rarely causes actual harm to the places he wanders into. He respects people's property far more than it seems; he just believes that anything worth hiding is something worth seeing.
Of course, these aspects hide the complex and determined young man underneath. On the reverse side of his frivolous nature is his considerable shrewdness, which makes him quite capable of reading people and situations. He is particularly observant, taking into consideration even the smallest details of his surroundings in order to better understand and deal with challenges and is not above using cheap tricks or questionable tactics to ensure his own survival. Being singularly ambitious, D'Anthony also has a remarkably tenacious will that allows him to overcome virtually insurmountable obstacles and accept inhuman burdens for the sake of his own ultimate goal. He has a considerable pride that will not stand for having his humanity insulted or condemned by his enemies, but he is also capable of shelving his pride if it becomes something that will stand in the way of his objective.

As such, he becomes furious when observing those who willingly or remorselessly cast aside their own comrades or brethren and is sickened by the idea of superiors who reject their duty to those who trust them.
On missions and in battle, D'Anthony exposes a more contained face of his personality. He can be professional when called for, make use of his various abilities when ordered to, and he respects his own training and a chain of command. He keeps up a witty banter with his adversaries so long as he sees them in a human light. Those who kill innocents, take hostages, or injure his friends are placed on a different level, approached and dealt with in a much more serious manner. They are often ripped to shreds beneath his heavy onslaught, sometimes literally. And that brings to light Arashi's willingness to kill if the situation calls for it. Despite his lightheartedness, he is a hero with a serious responsibility towards what is left of society. That love for all that he holds dear manifests in a military attitude towards the loss of life. Although he may err towards capture if given the choice, he has no qualms about ending the lives of those who would harm innocents.

- Velocity-based Teleportation: D'Anthony can teleport to a location within his line-of-sight, using speed to increase distance. In simplest terms, the faster he is moving, the farther he can teleport. Velocity is calibrated to the velocity of the nearest large gravity source, in most cases Earth, so using the rotation or motion of the planet to teleport from a standstill is an impossible feat for GoldLink. Teleportation naturally consumes some of his personal momentum, so he won't be moving as fast after teleportation, and can even turn down the efficiency to land at a standstill. This allows D’Anthony to be able to face a different direction at the end of the teleport, and the direction of his remaining velocity will change as a result.
The most interesting application of this power is teleporting into the sky. A dead sprint, or catching a ride on a vehicle, could grant enough velocity to teleport into the air. Once in the air, D’Anthony has a good vantage point and can build up enough velocity for a long distance teleport by just falling. Hypothetically, this could be repeated several times to gain attitude or travel longer distances.

Even though his origin is more in depth as are his powers, Captain Atom is basically a human turned energy being in a suit. Here's his edited appearances in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon. Towards the beginning you'll see what happens when his suit is breached and towards the end he goes toe-to-toe with Superman.

One thing about the midwest, is that I've placed Central City as a casualty of the Two-Month War, leaving scattered survivors having relocated to other cities on the East Coast or trying to stick it out with the coven. That will be covered more in Velocity's backstory as I write it.

While The Harlequin is capable of forcing laughter, there is little in the way of jokes when it comes down to business. Ruthlessly efficient and almost artistic in nature, The Harlequin almost appears to dance around his enemies. He doesn’t toy with them but rather looks for the perfect opening to end a fight. He does his utmost to avoid collateral damage and will protect the innocent from harm even when in the middle of a fight. The face of the mask changes at will, almost as a taunt against whoever he is fighting.

As an owner of a small bookstore Robert looks like just another run of the mill individual. He keeps himself to himself most of the time and is a far cry from the very flamboyant and artistic Harlequin. Where his alter ego is graceful Robert is clumsy, where the Harlequin leaves people in amazement, Robert leaves them wanting to get away. He does have a personality but is often reluctant to let it show to avoid getting close to anyone. He has seen so many people he has cared about die, it's easier to avoid getting attached to anyone.

The Laughing God: The true age of Robert has been lost even to himself, but his longevity is down to the gaze and will of The Laughing God. An event from his early life entered Robert into the primordial deities servitude and in it he has remained since. Below are the powers that The Laughing God bestows onto Robert:
♦ Attire of The Harlequin: The mask and robes of the Harlequin are a manifestation of The Laughing Gods own appearance. They can be summoned around Robert at any time and he doesn’t need to get dressed as they simply form around him. His other powers apply whether or not the attire is summoned.
♦ The Deception: Robert exists a moment in time before before all other beings. The split second gives him what is effectively a sense for incoming danger allowing for reaction times far superior to any mortal being. Where the deception comes in is the trickery he can inflict upon those who gaze upon him. For someone shooting at him, he can dodge the incoming bullet but he can make them think he has been reduced to a bullet riddled corpse. The illusion aspect can only work on those who are not attuned to magic and are not supernatural in nature.
♦ The Quickening: Robert’s speed far surpasses that of any standard human and many metahumans. This allows him to travel long distances quickely, but also to exert extreme power. While his real strength is no more than a standard human, the power he can generate from the speed of his movements is most certainly super human in nature. He has no hope of lifting a bus but could punch his way through it with ease. Unrestrained, the power of his strikes rivals the strongest of heroes. His maximum speed has been clocked around the same speed as sound travels.
♦ The Laughter: This is the ability to make any being whether human or supernatural, laugh uncontrollably. The ability is neither magic or supernatural in origin but is something that happens through sheer force of will. This could be a simple giggle to the extreme of making someone laugh until they die. The deaths result in grotesque corpses with permanent grins of laughter etched into their cold, dead faces. Only those with the strongest willpower and immunity to mind manipulation are able to resist. Further to this he is able to throw his laugh to confuse and disorientate others.
♦ The Sight: The Laughing God is the master of trickery and in it's millenia old age, is able to see through even the most complex of illusions. This power has been bestowed upon Robert and means that he is immune to any and all attacks on his mind or illusions. Robert is still susceptible to people lying however.

A strong user of telekinesis will be able to keep him still enough to nullify his power.

Biography
Character History/Origin
Robert estimates his birth to be between 100 and 60 B.C. He was born into the Celtic Silure clan which were located in what is now modern day South Wales. He estimates this period based on the fact his earliest memory is of the Roman invasion. He remembers fragments of this time including what he calls his 'death'. While fighting one of Caesars legions he was struck down by a sword and left to die. As he crawled over the bodies of his fallen brothers and through the bloodsoaked ground beneath, he heard a voice. First it appeared to mock him, challenging him to make it to a nearby treeline. As he broke through the treeline the voice returned and the world around him turned into a world unlike anything he could ever imagine.
The voice introduced itself as The Laughing God, a deity whose existence surpassed even the dinosaurs. It made an offer to the mortally injured Celt, serve for the rest of time as it's avatar on Earth or die back in a muddy ditch. With little hesitation Robert accepted the offer, not truly understanding what he was promising. In a flash of light he was returned to the battlefield he had left but what awaited him was a blankness. His name was forgotten and his memory only reached back to receiving the grievous wound at the hands of the Romans. This left him wandering and lost.
Up until the present day Robert searched for meaning in his existence beyond his powers. He first tried to settle down with a family but he soon realised that his immortality meant he outlived even his own grandchildren. This had a profound impact on the man and he decided to do his best to avoid relationships with others unless he somehow met someone else like him. For centuries he was alone, only dealing with other people to stave off madness and to help solve their problems.
He travelled to every corner of the globe learning everything he could about his powers, martial arts of different cultures and generally expanding his knowledge of the world. During this time he experienced the greatest battles of mankind, each often started by another immortal. History never mentions the duels between him and the immortals who had seeked to reign over humanity and that is just how he likes it. Soon enough the modern world began to develop and the entire world was engulfed in war.
There was little Robert could do to prevent either world war and with both sides committing gross atrocities, he decided to step back from the front lines to help the innocents caught in the middle. He saved many lives across both world wars but it was only a drop in the ocean compared to those that gave their lives. By the end of the twentieth century he had returned to the lands of his birth and floated around from city to city doing various jobs and helping those in need.
When the two month war broke out he made his way across the Atlantic helping out wherever he could. It was the most demanding time of his life, finally facing opponents with power that could rival his own. After the war ended he moved to New York and settled there, concerned that those responsible for the atrocities could reappear once again. That is where he remains in the present day.

you know, now that i think about it, the Justice League would probably notice Starfire entering the atmosphere. maybe. i'm not sure how badass the satellite is, if it can notice a person-sized object that is high temperature? i don't know. either way she very quickly made her way east.
i don't want to risrespect the Justice League and just assume they wouldn't notice her or be able to find her. so i guess that's up to you guys. it did happen two days ago, so i don't know. i just needed Starfire to land in the Scar, but there's no way she could land in the Scar and get to New York within a few hours
