How many RPs do you have at the same time?

I'm new to the forum (and to play-by-post in general) so I'm kind of curious, how many RPs do y'all participate in at the same time in general? It can be any format or any type, I'm just really really curious about it (if I had the time and statistical know-how I would love to make an in-depth survey... this thread will have to do haha)

Personally, I can only handle about 2 weekly TTRPG campaigns at the same time, but since PbP doesn't need you to fit a 4 hours time slot in your schedule, and you can kinda do it whenever you have free time, my guess is that people tend to have more going on at once. Or am I wrong? Enlighten me!

That largely depends on how much you like to write, how much you write for a given RP, how much time you spend chatting in the RP discord, etc.

Generally, people who write longer posts tend to post less frequently, especially if they have a busy schedule. There are also other factors. While I enjoy being in a few RPs at once, I have noticed that when I try to join too many my quality suffers.

There was a time when I was part of like eight or nine at one time. This was a couple years ago when I had more free time of course haha. Unlike BrokenPromise though my quality never suffers 😎 (its always bad)

Currently I'm in about four group RPs. It's easier if you go with one or two faster paced RPs if you can handle them and couple them with slower paced ones.

You're right; I myself have 5 or so RPs here, 2 of which I run.

Also trying to make this calculation now; I'm currently running one and participating in four others. So far that seems manageable, but the more correct answer seems to be that It Depends--on how quickly you write, how much you write, and how often your fellow participants are posting.

So far only the campaign I'm DMing has really even given me an opportunity to post more than once every few days, and I think that's mostly because I'm used to a more rapid-fire, in person style of DMing.

There are numerous factors that come into play as to how many RPs one can handle at once. It just depends on the person, their free time, their motivation, etc. One answer is not going to be the same for everyone.

I used to run/play in 15-20+ roleplays back when I was in high school/just graduated from high school. Now in my middle twenties I tend to keep it more at a mellower number than what I used to do.

Let me see here...

One hybrid Discord/forum game with 4 or 5 scenes running.
Another two discord games warming up after slow periods.
Three TTRPG sessions actively running.
One TTRPG in limbo.
Three or so mostly dormant forum games.

6ish active, 10 or so total?

Yeah, I'm with a lot of you here in that the less I have, the easier it is to focus on quality. Currently have two and I'm entertaining the idea of a third, but we'll see, haha.

It really depends on what I have going on in my life and/or the posting "style". If its a freeform or low cas type of deal where it's a few sentences per post I can handle quite a few. But big, multi-para advanced level RPs? Rn my limit is like 3 max.

I've got 2 running rn that are very sporadic in how often either me or a partner posts and honestly don't feel like I can handle more than that atm XD

Whenever I roleplay on any site, the first storylines that I’d look after are usually the ones revolving around games, comics, and wrestling, especially when you’re allowed to play canon characters. Right now, I have four that match said interests of mine, as well as one where you have to play an OC. So, yeah, in total, there are 5 that I can think of (two 1×1s and three group RPs). I’ve also been toying with the idea of joining at least two more group RPs if possible.

I used to do at least 5, if not 6 going at a time years ago in other places. These days if I am doing an RP, if I ever get around to it again, its just going to be a one and done kind of deal. I don't have it in me to spread myself thin like I used to.

For me that depends on a couple factors, such as the amount of time I have available, but I usually average around four or five going on at once. However, given that I do group RPs, many of these RPs are different individual RPs within the same groups, some of whom being more drop-in/drop-out in nature.
