Ended up tossing some of my other stuff out for this post. Post isn't up to my usual standard but it is November and life is life. Allows Kindred to get back to it and whatever else. I get home really latte on Mondays, so this is how my energy shakes out.

With Absolute Hellblazer Issue #10 we conclude the story I set out to tell of this version of John Constantine and his journey toward the Laughing Magician title he's known for.

I want to thank @Half Pint for accepting my sheet early on and letting me just play in my weird, depresso little corner writing my weird, depresso little story, and also @Lord Wraith for coming up with the Absolute Hellblazer graphic featured on the header of my posts. Also thank you to the many of you who read along with me and provided no end of kind and encouraging words (you know who you are), most of which I remain unconvinced I deserve.

Some of you already know, but I've had this Constantine story knocking about for at least six years now, so being able to finally get it all down and out, especially to a guaranteed audience - even if there are still elements I'm not entirely happy with (will anyone ever be 100% happy with their own work?) - has been massively enjoyable, extremely cathartic, and revived a passion for writing and story-telling that had previously fizzled out. The experiment was certainly a success, and I've had plenty of ideas spilling out of my very strange-feeling head about what I might go on to do next, whether here, elsewhere, or off the Guild entirely.

My sheet's post catalogue is now updated with the full arc and even post titles! To those who've read along, or are just picking it up, I welcome criticism, complaints, or compliments. It's listed in the character tab, but for those extra-lazy (like me!) I will also link it here for convenience. You might even notice a sneakily-updated faceclaim for John while you're there!

To everyone else, thank you for having me; I think at this stage, I will gracefully bow out of the game, having completed what I set out to do, and plink away at other ideas and concepts or even something original. I wish you all the very best.

Thank you for being apart of this! Your Constantine posts were always crazy and amazing. If you ever want to come back - for another solo story or a more collaborative one, don't hesitate to submit a CS, we've loved having you!

Apologies, you're correct, sorry so much has happened over the last 24 hours my heads in a spin - we'll put a slight delay on that for the next 2 hours then.

Thanks! I always thought he was fairly popular but when I went to do some more research on him I noticed his wiki and comic-vine pages were barren so can't blame ya!

Yeah taking part in a shared comic universe to me is most of the fun of these RPs so certainly events/facts for NPCs and such should be maintained, it's definitely a balance. I just think particularly for new recruitment we could stand to be flexible with characters we aren't actually playing.

I think at this point, even prior to the departures of certain players, that the foundation we have is more or less held together with duct tape and some staples. There is always time to shore up things and make sure the foundation for these in-universe lore is maintained and I think @Half Pint should consider a section of the OOC devoted to events that unfolded to the RP that are canonized (as well as characters). I did this with my attempts at shared comic games almost a decade ago and it was one of the good things about those games I hosted.

That does seem like a good thing to consider, especially with the characters that have left that actually left effects on the rest of the story.

When I joined Ultimate DC in 2013, one thing drew me to it over other RPs. It wasn’t solitary writing. It wasn’t the mere concept of interpreting a comic book character. What drew me to it was that it had its own continuity and somewhat stuck to it. If characters took their leave, they left their mark and the next writer had to pick up where the last one left it. It was like a comic book writer taking over from another. Ironic, I know, given I haven’t exactly done that as Batman here.

But I think that’s what stuck with me. It was its own universe and the idea was every season things built into its own separate thing. This didn’t pan out with Guildfall obviously but it is something I think about often. If we want these games to have actual legs in the future: discernable mileage, we need to have people playing characters that matter and hold weight. Addressing this and roleplay philosophy is crucial. I would recommend better organization is the first start to this.
