I've just realized that in all the 9 years I've been part of this site, I've never had to change my name, make an alt account or anything like that!

Their will and endless greed allows them to grow and ascend past other creatures
But their mortality denies them divinity

It's a delightful purgatory between being Fallen and being Divine"

Karina Frost

Karina could feel Syella's attention, focused on her, probably trying to discover what exactly was her magic. Karina stood still, still carefully watching everything that was happening. Despite the dire situation, the expression Syella did when 'looking' at Karina meant that they were at equal grounds. Karina didn't know exactly what were the woman's abilities, but neither did she knew what Karina's abilities were.

Unfortunately for Karina, she had completely forgotten that civilians tend to let their tongues run wild in stressful situations... And that fact became even more apparent when the innkeeper's wife revealed who was the healer out of panic. Even though her husband protested, it was already too late. The foolish woman's words had already told Syella everything she wanted to know. Even though Karina didn't changed her expression or even looked away from Syella, those around her could easily feel the air getting colder and colder. Even without looking at the innkeeper's wife, the woman would feel a shiver running down her spine. It was obvious who made Karina so angry...

When Syella shot with her sharpened fingers towards the woman though, Karina instead of sending her ice blades to defend the woman, simply let things happen. That foolish woman's own actions brought that upon herself. Betrayal was punishable by death from where Karina came.

But instead of killing her, Syella stopped her attack millimeters before hitting the woman. Once again, Syella's actions proved to be difficult to understand. After a quick glance though, the reason for her actions became obvious. It was Octavio, the illusionist. Conjuring three mirror images of himself, inserting themselves amongst their enemies, confusing them.

After a brief moment of confusion though, the order Karina was waiting Syella to give finally came. She ordered to immobilize the healer and capture them, that meant she had allies close, which was quickly proven to be true when a squad of cultists arrived at the rooftop they were standing at. Karina didn't know why exactly Syella wanted them alive, but Karina wouldn't give them the same luxury... The cold air swirling around her became a thin, slightly visible white mist around her. Her eyes, as cold as the air around her and her rapier's blade, which was ready on her hands. It was impossible to see past her expression. Expressionless, there was no rage, no fear, no excitement... There was only her cold, focused stare.

Underneath her cold and calm expression, her mind was working at full speed. The battle had already begun the second Syella revealed herself as she started analyzing which tactics Syella and her cultists would probably use. Karina's group had a few magic users, herself included, who would clearly be tricky to deal with, even for cultists. These magic users also consisted on the group's main offensive capabilities. Using magic deterrents to cut their fighting power was a strategy that Syella would surely use. Numbing Ivy. Even though Syella didn't know exactly which magic Karina used, she and her allies would soon find out.

Numbing Ivy was mostly employed as a magic deterrent in the form of oils and extracts. In battle, they could be used in a variety of ways... By dousing arrows with them, darts, blades or even by simply throwing them. Despite the difficult situation, there was a chance to win that confrontation. It was slim, but it was still there. Karina would have to be very careful, especially with the possibility of the cultists using magic deterrents.

As one of the cultists dashed towards her, wielding two dueling blades. Her attack was way too obvious, especially on how she was running, with one sword ready for attack and the other one ready to attack shortly after. She would probably try to take advantage of the fact that Karina had only one sword while she had two. But the cultist woman probably didn't know of one thing... Karina wasn't just a girl with a rapier... There was a reason why she was considered a genius fencer even amongst the military...

Instead of trying to defend herself or even parry the woman's attack, Karina dashed forward in a swift, agile and graceful movement, almost as she was sliding on the ground just as the cultist woman was about to get close to her. While wielding two swords meant that she could parry an attack and counterattack at the same time, the rapier had one advantage... It was much faster. By using Karina's small body, her natural speed and agility and her skill with the rapier, keeping track of her movements would certainly be difficult. Let alone matching them...

Karina moved out of the woman's attack with a graceful movement, spinning around her almost like she was dancing. Unfortunately for the cultist woman, she was fighting not just a genius fencer, but also someone who wielded ice magic... Just as she spun around the cultist woman to get behind her, the cultist woman would see two of the three ice blades flying towards her like needles, forcing her to either dodge them or block them with her blades while making it impossible for her to use her other blade to attack Karina. Regardless if the cultist woman would choose to either dodge or block them, her movements would already give Karina the chance she needed.

Just as she passed by the woman, spinning around her, she moved her rapier with a sudden and quick flick of her wrist just as she passed by the woman. The next thing the cultist woman would see, was the glint from her rapier's blade as it slid between her defenses just as she moved herself to avoid being hit by her ice blades, aiming precisely at her left arm, inflicting a cut on her biceps.
Together with the sharp pain, the woman would feel a painful and numbing cold coming from the cut she just received. It was just like there were millions of small needles inside her biceps whenever she moved it. If she looked at it though, she would quickly realize that the blood inside the wound was completely frozen. Even though it wasn't that deep of a cut, it proved to be even more debilitating than a normal cut. She could feel the cold sapping her strengths.

After that dazzlingly fast counterattack, the cultist woman would turn around to see Karina standing still with the same expressionless, cold stare while still in a fencing stance. From Karina's mouth and nose, the cultist woman would be able to see her cold breath visible in the air as she breathed. The cold aura around that small girl had wasn't just figurative, but literal as well. Engaging that girl without a proper tactic quickly proved to be a mortal mistake. After that cut, she was already at disadvantage due to the girl's weird magic. Not only that but every movement that small girl made was just like it was carefully calculated. She moved strictly the necessary, without spending unnecessary energy. Even the fact that she used only two of her three ice blades seemed to have a motive... The remaining ice blade, instead of being in front of her, was hovering just besides her. Not pointing towards the cultist woman, but standing still in a weird angle. If the cultist woman analyzed Karina's posture carefully, she would realize that the remaining ice blade was being used by that small girl as a mirror, a third eye to help her guard her blind spot.

The cultist woman quickly realized, after that brief exchange of blows that beating Karina in a duel was simply impossible. She would need help if she wanted to take down that girl. Taking out her magic would help a lot to make things a bit more even, but there was two problems with that plan. That girl probably knew what they were trying to do, which was evident by how she was using her remaining ice blade as a mirror and the fact that even without her magic, that girl was extremely skilled with a rapier...

"You're so adorable, all red and embarrassed~" Nailah said with a giggle as she saw Allard visibly getting red. But despite his obvious embarrassment, Allard was very confident in his skills as he spread his wings, getting ready to fly. Apparently, her teasing was indeed having an effect on the gentle giant as it got obvious when he pulled her closer to him, speaking to her in a low, rumbling tone that would make any innocent girl immediately fall head over heels for him. Unfortunately, Nailah wasn't an innocent little girl... far from that...

"Oh, and don't worry about me falling, big guy. I always land on my feet... Meow~" Nailah said, with a mischievous smirk. Things were getting a bit more interesting now. Who could have thought that Allard could pull out such smooth moves... But competing against Nailah on that department was asking to lose... She just hoped that her warnings wouldn't go unnoticed or ignored by the big guy... She genuinely liked him. He was really a big, gentle giant with a heart as big as his muscles. The last thing Nailah would want to see was him getting his heart broken thinking he could have her only for himself...

Just as Allard lift off the ground though, his wing's power was made clear. Even though he just got them back, he really looked like he knew exactly what he was doing. He clearly wasn't holding himself back as he did twists, flips and ending with a really flashing dive, cushioning their fall with a blast of wind from his wings. Despite all those tricks though, Nailah wasn't frightened, instead she was really enjoying the ride. Of course, she was holding him really tight, but despite that she was really enjoying it.

It wasn't a surprise that they drew quite a number of stared after they landed, not only due to their flashy arrival, but both of them were quite an unusual pair... A giant oro and a hybrid draconic woman...

"Out of practice? That was one of the most exciting 'shortcuts' I've ever taken!" Nailah said, laughing.

"It looks like some people already know you." Nailah said, after noticing some stares towards Allard.

"I'll be cheering for you, big boy. Good luck." Nailah said with a mischievous smirk.

Will have my post done tomorrow :-)
Bast Ragoczy

Bast chuckled as he heard Eilidh asked to not put anything on her food. Seeing how... lively the couples were, that might well be a thing. After all, that was a city that basically breathed love and romance. As they talked, Bast made a little mental note to be mindful of what he ate or drank there.

Unlike Bast or Eilidh themselves though, who actually thought a little bit about that, Titanica and Vară weren't that careful about that possibility though... The second Titanica finished talking about Ravager's Rest with the Ghandarva, she immediately sat down, eating copious amounts of food. Vară, much like Titanica, just after arriving and introducing herself in the same flashy manner she normally did, immediately went to one of the booths, eating almost as much as Titanica herself.

"Hm... I would have never thought that Vară could eat as much as Titanica herself..." Bast said, with a chuckle and a laugh, leaning towards Eilidh as he said so.

"Now... where were we? Oh yes, you said you were hungry and thirsty yourself, am I right, Eilidh?" Bast asked, repeating what she had said to him earlier.

"A calming walk sounds indeed wonderful! I reckon you enjoyed this city the first time we came here. Unfortunately we didn't have that much time to get to know it better. Today is different though." Bast said with a smile.

"A calming walk it is then! Maybe we could stop to get something to eat before retiring ourselves, what do you think? I am rather famished myself after all, I didn't eat anything the entire day." Bast continued.

When he heard Eilidh talking about her senses being rather overwhelmed and asking him to not even hold her hand, Bast smirked with a playful expression.

"Not quite my lucky day then, eh? Oh well... I can live with that." he said, laughing.

"Don't worry, I promise I wont tease you as much as I usually do. It's just that you're so adorable when you're flustered!" he said with a wink.

Just as they were about to leave though, Gina approached Vară and Titanica, who finished murdering pretty much half of the edible food on the inn. What Gina said afterwards though was pretty much what he had suspected... There were indeed aphrodisiacs on the foods and drinks. And with the amount of food both of them had ingested, the effect would be pretty brutal. And Gina's words didn't seem to be an exaggeration too...

Bast couldn't help but let out a mischievous smirk as he watched both Vară and Titanica's reactions to what Gina had said. Both girls weren't exactly... that affectionate so it was clear that they would have problems dealing with that. As much as Bast would enjoy to watch their struggle, he feared for his safety for a number of reasons... Eilidh herself would probably get extremely angry, both Vară and Titanica's reactions to the aphrodisiacs would be really, really strong and well... they weren't that... inoffensive... And if all that wasn't enough, he feared for what could happen to him afterwards, as it was clear that every single one of the girls present would want to tear his head off his body...

"I had my suspicions, but you guys attacked the food with such voracity that I didn't have enough time to warn you two..." Bast said, approaching both Vară and Titanica with a mischievous smirk.

"I would try to help you girls to get rid of the aphrodisiacs on your bodies, after all, I am an experienced physician... But in the case it fails... I fear for my safety... for a number of reasons..." Bast said, looking to Eilidh and both girls shortly after with that same smirk on his face, teasing them

"Well... I would recommend both of you girls to drink as much water as you can... pure water..." Bast said walking closer to them.

"I wouldn't have that much of a problem in helping you two once the aphrodisiacs kick in though... but I doubt Eilidh would let me off unscathed... And I don't know what both of you would want to do to me after the effect is over so..." Bast said, whispering to them low enough so Eilidh wouldn't hear him.

"Good Luck." he finished, walking towards Eilidh.

"It's probably a good idea for me to get away from both of them... At least for now, don't you think?" Bast asked to Eilidh.

"Unless you're ok with sharing..." he said, with a smirk on his face, teasing her.

"Oh, pardon me, I couldn't help myself I forgot. No teasing." he continued with a discreet bow, apologizing himself.

Freyr

Just as the referee was about to answer his question though, a loud and thundering voice interrupted the competition calling Freyr's name. The crowd parted to make way to the owner of the voice, Lord Saburo Fujikiyo himself, who walked towards Freyr holding an apple and accompanied by Nagare and Ditzy. Whatever it was that Nagare and Ditzy said to Saburo, it peaked his interest, as it was clear when he continued talking, walking towards the field.

Apparently, Lord Saburo was interested on Freyr and wanted to test his skills after Ditzy and Nagare said that he shared interests and hobbies with Lord Saburo himself. The moment he said what was his 'challenge' to him though, Freyr couldn't help but smile. Using his own bow, even if he was using Lord Saburo's own arrows and not his, he couldn't miss.

Haley once more offered him a little... 'help' but this time, more than others, Freyr didn't needed it.
"The Mother nature is as kind as she is cruel. This is specially true in the Vieran Woods. Those who can't hunt and defend themselves, die an early death." Freyr said to Haley as he got his bow.

"Don't worry. I won't miss." he said with a smile.

As he nocked Saburo's arrow on his bow, he drew it back, getting ready to shoot. The weight behind the arrow was not something a normal human could use, at least not without great effort. Before he let go of it though, he twisted his wrist gently, making it so the second he shot the arrow, it would spin faster.

To anyone watching, any experienced archer, it was clear that Freyr wasn't merely boasting. His posture, the way he handled the bow, how he drew the bow, it was everything done in a fluid manner. Something that could only be achieved by someone who did that exact same motion uncountable times. Even his respiration was perfectly timed with his shot.

Everything happened in a single, fluid and agile motion. Preparation wasn't needed. The second Freyr shot the arrow, it flew through the air, whistling, much faster than the standard competition bows could achieve.

Small post! The cheerful and happy girl just walked inside the bar dragging an unconscious guy by his neck!
Nina

@Hekazu

Nina simply stared at Croak's thoughtful expression with a curious gaze as he was lost in his own thoughts. Why was he so on guard? They were on his gang's headquarters, right? Nobody on their right mind would try to cause trouble there unless they had quite the firepower with them. And the new arrivals certainly didn't seem to be wanting trouble, after all, one of them was indeed wounded.

As he asked for a second, Nina simply followed him with her eyes as he walked towards the barkeeper, gulping down a drink and exchanging some pleasantries. He finally introduced himself once he came back. His introduction, albeit short, was direct. Somewhat amicable, but still rather blunt and direct.

"Croaks, funny name." Nina said with a giggle.

"Oh, no offense! It's not that bad. It's even a bit cute!" Nina said, laughing.

"I will spare you of any more questions regarding your name, as it seems you're not that comfortable talking about it. Just Croaks is fine. Everyone has things they might want to keep a secret. I'm no exception." Nina said, with a kind smile but with rather distant eyes.

"Ironically enough, finding out exactly what those things are is part my job. The other part is... well... selling them of course!" she said, laughing, quickly going back to her cheerful self.

After she asked him if he wanted to take a look at the new arrivals though, Croaks looked at her with an expression of someone who was clearly doubting her sanity.

"You need a new set of self preservation chips, girl" she heard Croaks saying to her.

"Not the first time I hear th-" Nina started to say, but was cut off after seeing with the corner of her eyes the woman wearing the strange helmet getting out of the bar hurriedly, in a suspicious manner. Even while she was talking with Croaks, she didn't take off her eyes from the woman. Just after she got in the bar, she sat down with another man to talk. Whatever it was the conversation they had before the man stood up and left her, left her pretty shaken...

"Shit! She's gone!" Nina cursed, as she spun herself, looking to where she last saw the woman going.

"I think I found something~" Nina said with a smirk as she dashed outside with a surprising burst of speed, enough to made clear to Croaks that she wasn't merely boasting when she said no one could catch her.

Unfortunately, the second she got outside, it was already too late. The last thing she saw, other than the man unconscious on the alleyway was the woman riding away in a motorbike. Even though Nina could probably follow her by running through alleyways and rooftops, she had left too quickly and Nina had no idea where she was going.

The signs of confrontation were clear. Nearby the unconscious man, a Excalibur Nightstick was laying on the ground, a jacket, a helmet (albeit not the woman's) and a switchblade. It was clear who had won that fight... The woman might have gotten away, but that man clearly knew who she was. And Nina really wanted that information...

"My lucky day~" Nina thought to herself, looking to the unconscious guy as she grabbed him by his neck, being careful to keep her fingers on his jugular to keep track of his heartbeats in order to react quickly if it looked like he was waking up as she dragged him without any ceremony inside the bar.

Hurriedly heading inside again, she searched for Croaks with her eyes. Upon finding him, she walked towards him, leaning forward to talk to him.

"Do you have any... silent and quiet room? I may have found someone who might have some valuable information... Maybe even for both of us." Nina said, with a serious expression that looked completely out of place in a girl who was smiling so amicably a few moments ago.

@Jollan

Nailah couldn't hide her frown after she heard what Dremmick said. The man was simply so... boring to be with. His attitude certainly wasn't pleasing, but as long as he didn't disrespect Nailah, he could be as much of a dick as he wanted... It's not like Nailah particularly cared about what people thought of her. Otherwise she wouldn't tell others so easily that she was a Priestess of the Fallen Goddess...

"So rude..." Nailah said, rolling her eyes as she watched Dremmick walk away towards the inn.

Allard's response on the other hand was much more tranquil. Indeed, a dragonling companion was indeed quite uncommon. Even though he was cautious about the intruder, he analyzed the whole situation much better than Dremmick had.

"Maybe... She surely seemed to be different from your average curious passerby though... It will be fun to see where this will lead though..." Nailah said with a smirk.

"Oh, that's right! You still have other members of the group to introduce to me, right?" she said, changing subjects quite quickly, with an excited smile on her face.

As they were on their way back though, a sudden, but powerful wave of magic enveloped both of them. Despite it's power, it was warm, comforting and calming and even though she wasn't wounded, she could feel it's comforting aura enveloping her. Whoever used that spell was certainly powerful. Nailah didn't know what it was but she suspected it was a healing spell of some sorts, especially due to Dremmick's reaction to it...

"What's this?" Nailah heard Allard's surprised voice, turning to him. Upon doing so, she noticed that it was indeed a healing spell, and quite a powerful one. From Allard's back, where previously she saw no signal of wings or anything, she suddenly saw two big wings with an surprising wingspan sprouting from his back. Allard himself seemed to be as surprised as Nailah was though. Their might was soon proved after he moved them, causing a gust of wind that made Nailah protect her eyes from dust and the wind coming from them.

"You're quite full of surprises, aren't you? Was that one of your friends? Nailah said with an amused smirk, referring to the strange energy while watching with satisfaction his joyful laughter.

When he asked if she wanted to take a 'shortcut' while beating his wings, Nailah let out a mischievous smirk as she approached him.

"It will certainly be interesting..." Nailah said, walking up to him and throwing her arms around his neck, embracing him and wrapping one of her legs around his, her bare thighs touching his skin as her tail wrapped itself around his other leg. Her unusually hot skin was nothing short of maddening. Soft, inviting, alluring... Not only that but the way she approached Allard wasn't that of an innocent girl. It was of someone who knew exactly what they were doing, someone experienced who was taking charge of the situation. Just like a serpent wrapping itself around their prey, Allard could feel her powerful muscles underneath her delicate and soft exterior. That duality between danger and desire, power and beauty, was truly enthralling.

"Just be careful not to fall... The drop can be quite devastating you know...?" Nailah said, whispering on his ear with a giggle. Something in her voice made clear though that she wasn't talking about the height...

"Oh, don't worry. I won't use any 'tricks' on you... not yet at least..." Nailah said, giggling. Whatever she meant by that though, it seemed she was probably talking about her abilities, which now, thinking a bit better about it, you knew nothing of.

"Talking about 'tricks'... I saw you looking towards that strength festival when we passed by... Wanna show me what you're capable of? Have some tricks up your sleeve yourself? Who knows what it will be the prize if you win..." Nailah said, smirking as her tail slapped his ass.

"Shall we go then, big guy?" Nailah said,

Bast Ragoczy

Bast couldn't help but to raise his eyebrow as he witnessed how... liberal the people from that city were. He wasn't anyone to judge their lifestyle but at least for him it felt a bit... exotic to see couples expressing their love for each other so... passionately in public. It wasn't that much of a surprise since that was in fact a town dedicated to love and romance, but it took a bit of getting used to.

When they arrived at the inn, they were greeted by a familiar face, which apparently wasn't that happy to see them again. It was Gina, the Ghandarva from a previous mission. Even though they were approaching as guests, she was quick to show her obvious dissatisfaction to them.

"A bit too late for apologies or for trying to change the mood, especially after souring it so spectacularly as you just did, don't you think, Miss Gina?" Bast asked, with a cold stare. He would have continued, but Eilidh's voice and embarrassment upon seeing so many... intimate acts refreshed his mood a bit.

"Well, I guess it cant be helped. It would be better to let what is past in the past, wouldn't it?" Bast said.

"Me and Eilidh I'm sure you already know. The new faces you see are Titanica and Vară. I'm sure they can introduce themselves much better then I can if you ask them to." Bast said, with a flourished hand gesture as if he was encouraging her to talk with them.

"Regarding what do we need, I am not the one in charge here today. My dear Eilidh is." Bast said, with a smirk as he looked to Eilidh.

"Today, I'm yours, my dear Eildih." Bast said, with a joyful smile.

"That said, what do you wish to do? Sightseeing? I reckon you enjoyed walking through the city the first time we came here. I can't say it's really my style, but I cant deny it has a very refreshing and calming charm to it." Bast said, looking to Eilidh.

Freyr

Freyr heard Haley's suggestion silently. While he appreciated how far was she willing to go to help him, cheating wasn't something he was very... fond of. Call it pride or honor, but Freyr was a Viera and one of the things they were famous for was their hunting skills.

"I appreciate your offer, Haley. But I don't think it would be right to cheat. My body is different from a human's and I was accustomed to use the type of bow we Vieras make ourselves so using a human bow is a bit difficult to adapt to." Freyr explained.

"Besides that, I wouldn't be ok by asking you to do something that would make you uncomfortable." he said with a kind smile.

"I just have to try my best. Who knows... If I get to the finals, I might convince this Saburo to let me use my own bow. I could even lend it to him. Even though I doubt he would be able to use it." Freyr said picking the competition bow once more. Even if that could potentially mean the failure of the mission, he wouldn't cheat. Hunting was something that was a part of his being. Be it with a dagger, his claws or a bow, he was incredibly skilled in all of them. After all, if he wasn't he would be dead long ago due to the Vieran woods' dangerous fauna.

"Thinking a little bit about it... I may be able to earn Saburo's attention..." Freyr mumbled to himself, just before he walked to one of the referees who were responsible for the competition.

"May I make a small, simple request? I would want to be able to take a second shot after the 'official' one, but using my bow. Would that be allowed?" Freyr asked to the man.

"Nothing official, of course. These shots won't count to the competition. Think of it as just a way for me to try and adapt myself to these bows you provided as we Vieras have a different body physiology than humans. The bows we use ourselves handle very differently from these." Freyr explained.
