Do you think the reason Jesus Christ doesn't rise again is because we keep putting up crosses and he gets flashbacks on how that went last time?

I will never show empathy for a bigot or a man who believed empathy is a made up term. Simple as that.

@InkarnateI mean, yeah in hindsight, you're right, but at the moment and at the first glance, you could probably understand our confusion.
I found out the RP I was bitching about back on the previous page two pages ago (the one where the GM was playing "I've got a secret") has officially died. I shouldn't be happy about that ... but damn if I don't have the smuggest fucking grin on my face right now. Sweet retribution.

I sincerely hope you meant the RP and not the GM who died, because that's not a very cool thing to do.

Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s Elite...And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell. You know you love me.
XOXO, Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl

For about ten years now, Gossip Girl has been around, reporting on the lives of Manhattan’s Elite. No one knows who Gossip Girl is. Some rumors claim that the person behind the identity of Gossip Girl was probably a scorned member of Manhattan’s Elite, while others claim it's just someone bored with their own lives, so they decided to cause trouble for the Elite. Whoever it is behind that screen, be it a tablet, a phone, or some laptop at a cafe nearby, one thing is clear to everyone who is the topic of one of Gossip Girl’s News Blasts…

No one is safe.

If you are spotted by one of Gossip Girl’s many, many devout followers, be on the lookout. You might be the topic of her next news blast.

The Upper East Side is not for everyone. She’s tough and often unforgiving to outsiders. Should you be lucky enough to be included in a tight-knit group of Manhattan’s Elite, know if you show weakness, you will perish, for here only the strong survive. The beauties and beasts of the concrete jungle will not show tolerance for frail bodies. If they smell blood, like the Great White, they will seek it out, and destroy without a care in the world.

Like the jungle, the Upper East Side could be thought of as a concrete variety. There is a pyramid that one must remember. The top of the food chain are those who call themselves “Manhattan’s Elite”. While they have different generations that span several decades, one thing has remained the same: power and wealth are what makes you a true elite, not whatever half-baked passion or “heart” one might have. Sure, you can aspire to join those who might just be across the Hudson River, but unless you can withstand what is to come your way because of your ambitions, you shall simply fall in line.

It’s survival of the fittest, for only the strongest will survive. Do you think you have what it takes? Guess we’ll see about that.

Rules
  • Follow Guild Rules.
  • If it exceeds PG-13, fade to black please.
  • High casual standards, so that means at least 2 paragraphs.
  • There isn't a posting frequency rule, but if it requires a collab, take it to etherpad or Google Docs.
  • The general sense of this RP is to create interactive stories, so don't just stick to 1-2 people. Expand your interactions.
  • This will be semi-sandbox with general setups of scenes. This means you have free reign in most areas. Create at your own risk.
  • It shouldn't have to be said, but keep all OOC drama out of public view. Come to me if you have any real issues with anyone, which I sincerely doubt you will.
  • Please use your aesthetic I have made for you as your header. Anything else will be optional.
  • And lastly, have fun. I made this RP in an attempt to recreate the fun most of us had in other Slice of Life RPs. This is as much my pet project as it is yours.

So this was Columbia University, huh? It was bigger than Alexandros thought it was going to be. Normally students had visited their college campuses before the semester began so they could get familiar with the lay of the land. For those who do know him and those who will get to know him, they’ll come to find that Alexandros wasn’t like most people. He marched to the beat of his own drum. A lot of the things that he did, for the most part, was all in the service of what was good for Alexandros Mossos, not anyone else. If he had to walk all over others, then so be it. After all, what is the opinions of the mortals to a god? And you can bet anything that Alexandros is a modern-day Juniper.

And, what was Juniper without a few consorts to make life at the top interesting? Of course, he wasn’t at the top yet, but all was about to change. This was due to the fact that Alexandros had been walking around at a leisure pace around the campus. He passed various buildings and saw all sorts of people. They seemed to be no different than what he read about American colleges. He remembered that it was a league above what they called high school, yet it was obvious to him that the cliques were all the same - except they were a bit larger than the pictures he saw online appeared. Those that had called themselves Jocks back in the day were now nearly twice the size and, according to the stereotypes of American movies from the 2000s, they were entirely on the idiotic scale.

As far as Alexandros was concerned, they were idiots to him. Instead of being called Jocks, the Americans just loved to refer to themselves as Fratboys that belonged to houses called Fraternities. Thank the gods he didn’t have to bother with them. The last thing he would ever do was subject himself to the sort of degenerate activities that he read about. He’d much rather focus on things that would actually further his gameplan, though it did present an interesting opportunity. The fraternities were the easiest ways to get known. And if he could prove himself to them, rising up the ranks would be a lot easier than trying to do it solo.

“Another day.”

He made a mental note as he kept strolling at a brisk walk, leaving the area of the largest Fraternity house and making his way directly across the way from the largest Fraternity house, The Animal House was the famed House of the Queen Bees sorority, Delta Gamma. In his research during the winter break, Alexandros had read a lot about this one and how it and Pi Kappa Alpha were known for hosting joint parties and often competed against each other in the End of the Semester mega battle called Battle of the Sexes. It was, the very least, worth checking out. However, before he could, there was a gathering of quite the crowd of people in the quad. Naturally, Alexandros followed them. It seemed far more interesting than whatever limited activities the frat houses and the sororities were having at the moment.

After some shoving some of the beta males and weaker females(lightly of course), Alexandros found his way to the front of the crowd. His attention was on the stage, though, it would soon be centered on a familiar latina that he had encountered at last week’s New Year’s Eve party. The same one that had his attention for all of two minutes before she proved to be nothing but all talk. Even with her name and her obvious lineage, that couldn’t save Audrey from being yesterday’s news. A shame, too. They could’ve had such fun together. But now, as she certainly would put on quite the show for the crowd and her eyes focused on Alexandros, there was only a one-way street. He may have given her a smile, but it was a meaningless glance. His lips curled and portrayed exactly what Alexandros knew someone like her would want: a sense of control in that she has his full attention. If only she knew he was playing her.

About halfway through the show, however, Alexandros was growing bored of playing pretend. It was a good showing, but there came a time where one had to wonder if they were spending their time wisely. Alexandros knew that he wasn’t doing that trying to feign an interest in Audrey’s dance. It certainly was impressive and she looked good doing it, but at the end of the day, Alexandros had better things to do with his time before the first, morning classes began. Plus, it was more fun making her sweat than it was giving into what she wanted him to.

By the time it ended, he stayed just to see how everyone ate up her performance. That's when he caught her staring right at him. What was she thinking when he shot him that look? Was it her way of wanting him to come up there and do what he knew she wanted? No, that wasn't it. It was in her eyes, but specifically, it was the way her body moved as she ate up all of the congratulatory cheers from those who had actually been amazed by her routine. Alexandros, on the other hand, couldn't care less. the only thing he was interested in was winning this game that she had started. But if she thought he was going to make it easy for her, then she obviously hadn't done her homework. A Mossos never makes it easy for their prey.

Game on, Audrey Huntsberg. Game. On.

Before long, Alexandros left Audrey to her devices. When her head had turned, he was gone. He slipped through the crowd and the opening where he previously had stood was replaced by someone who had been behind Alex.

Oh that’s too bad, Queen Bee. That must sting. Your temptatious tease didn’t work how you wanted it to. Better luck next time.
I don't know what it is, but I feel like I've seen this before.
I know not a lot of people - especially on the guild - like this system, but have you considered the stats system? It ties in with what @ArenaSnow said about using tabletop mechanics. Granted, people around these parts dislike it because they feel like it takes away some of their creative liberties. Admittedly, I am on that side of the spectrum, but it's more about how most games I've been in had shitty stat systems.

You seem like a very capable GM, though. I remember you ran a short-lived Avatar game that was full of really great ideas, so you certainly have it in you to do it justice. I would recommend researching up D&D stat systems just to get a grasp for them and then explore other options.
Disappointment
Bastard of Winterfell

There have been a plethora of things that had occurred since the Mossos Family arrived at the Huntsberg Thanksgiving gathering that could easily take top billing as being the most surprising. There was the grimacing expression that Audrey had given them when they were out in the front porch before they had officially joined the party. The arrival of the Human-sized Megaphone was another that Alexandros would add to the list of events that were noteworthy. Though, to his and Audrey’s knowledge alone, quite possibly the highest on that list was how they had a genuine conversation and made headways in their relationship (meaning there actually being one).

Their new-found union has brought them some unwanted comments. First, it came from his family - well, Ava mostly - about what exactly happened. Her exact words were: what the fuck happened up there, Alex? A time and a place, Ava. A time and a place. Though, Alexandros couldn’t help but feel better going forward. He did his best to contain they had all sat down and even when Eli had come strolling in with that Heather woman. It didn’t take him long to notice that they were high on something. He honestly wasn’t surprised that Eli would get high. He was, however, surprised that he would choose to do so knowing full well that, if this dinner doesn’t go well, their mother would blame him.

He let out a low sigh, catching Ava’s attention. “What’s the matter?” She whispered.

“Nothing,” Alexandros quickly waved her away.

He didn’t need the hassle of alerting their mother to what was happening before her eyes. She probably knew that Eli was high on something. His usual choice is marijuana, but Alexandros had seen people high on weed and what he saw wasn’t that. Eli usually was mellower than usual when he had a few puffs of a marijuana joint. This was not what Alexandros saw. It was a different kind of high. Eli was talking and actually smiling.

My, foolish little brother. You’re going to get us both in trouble.

To save face for at least one moment, Alexandros would engage in small talk with Arthur and some of Audrey’s other relatives, but that didn’t last long at all.

“I would have to respectfully disagree.” Ava opened up her mouth in response to Miranda’s comment about a woman having to keep a little mystery. “You fancy sorts and fakes want to keep people guessing, but that’s pretty dumb if you ask me.” Ava dug into a piece of ham and as she still had half of it in her mouth, she continued, “fu-ing bi-ches should ju-t lay it a-ut th-re.” Half of all that was inaudible due to Ava’s lack of ladylike manners. Though, she finally swallowed and finished. “Sorry, that ham was a bitch to get through. What I was going to say is keeping mystery just for the sake of playing mind games is honestly the sign of weakness. If you have to play games to keep a man’s or woman’s attention, then maybe you aren’t all that interesting.” Ava said, stabbing her fork into the ham, keeping her eyes locked on Miranda.

Everyone whose name ended with Mossos looked at Ava. Balthazar looked at her with what looked like a bit of pride but also fear quickly replaced that when Adrianna turned to him. Georgi wasn’t exactly sure what to do, but he was trying not to freak out. Eli wasn’t exactly responsive. He was too busy snickering to himself as he enjoyed the show. Adrianna, however, she seemed to be at her breaking point.

And, just like that, Alexandros had abandoned all hope once Ava’s big mouth entered the fray.

He had made a mental note to do some sort of damage control. To think, Alexandros, of all people, was the one who could save this dinner from diving into complete anarchy. Just as he had decided that, however, more women decided to open their mouths. Thankfully, this wasn’t directed towards Ava. It wasn’t directed any of his family of the female gender. In fact, it wasn’t directed any of his brothers or his father. No, it had been centered on Alexandros. Or at least the glances he got from the one called Romina and the Human Loudspeaker’s older sister that was just as coked up as Eli was.

“So this is where we are, huh?” Alexandros muttered to himself

About to say something, Adrianna shot Alexandros a glance, subtlety shaking her head. Leaving his gaze, she did nothing in return to Ava. Disappointment was high from mother to daughter, though, as Ava happily ate her food, she didn’t seem to care. Alexandros could have sworn he heard her cheerfully humming to herself.

Adrianna, though she wanted to berate Ava in front of everyone here, it was bad enough that she embarrassed the family with her disgraceful actions. ADrianna wasn’t going to add salt to the wound. Instead, she ignored Ava and would respond to Elisabetta. “Well, it’s all about location, location, location, is it not?” Adrianna said, giving a smile. “Mossos is a worldwide brand that seizes the moment where it’s most lucrative. Beverly Hills has a large market and the richest clients for our company are here on the west coast.” She stated, talking briefly about their family’s business dealings. “Plus, I cannot lie and say the view isn’t a nice addition.” She admitted, finding herself chuckling.
