My blade carries with it the harsh frost of the wintry winds. Dancing with the rage of a blizzard, its speed matches the transience of an icy petal.

Welcome traveler. I see you've stumbled upon my profile, nice to meet ya.

About Me
I'm just your average 9-5 schmuck. I do my work, pay my bills, and contribute what I can to society. I also happen to enjoy binge-watching/reading anime, manga/light novels, tv dramas, and pretty much anything that catches my interest. Roleplaying
I originally joined this site several years back, having gotten my feet wet only recently at that point as an RPer. I was recommended this site by a pal of mine (@PaulHaynek) and joined a couple of his RPs. However, due to RL stresses I had to take a break from the world of RPing and took sometime for self-reflection. After a 2 year absence, I'm back in saddle and ready to further stretch my creative muscles. As for what roleplays I like, I enjoy anything action-oriented. I'm fine with any settings for the most part, though I'm more inclined toward the magical and sci-fi. Also, I've gained a sort of preference for RPs that allow users to play as multiple characters, but solo is fine either way. Here's a list to give a better idea of my tastes.

- Fantasy/medieval
- Dystopian
- Steampunk
- Sci-fi
- Apocalypse/Post-Apocalyptic
- Generally anything anime/manga related
- Adventure and Combat oriented
- Romance here and there is fine too

That's all for now, reader. If you decide to post an interest check for an RP idea, you just might find me posting a character profile ready to be reviewed. Don't be afraid to give me a shout if you'd like a Co-DM to bounce ideas off of as well.

Until then.

Original Premise

This is a RP that serves as a soft reboot for my previous project. In this world know as Veylnostica, players will be taking the role of magus, a term used to describe those who have dedicated their lives to the study and practice of sorcery. In this setting, there are also magicians and warriors alike who have earned the mantle known as Reaver. This is a title bestowed to those who have distinguished themselves from their peers through their countles conquests of enemies and targets.

At first, the story will be a simple one where the characters explore their respective avenues of magic whilst finding out where they want their place in the world to be. Over time, the story will explore more grandiose narratives and plot threads, with the uncovering of mysteries both modern and ancient. Eventually, you will be thrust into a destiny that will affect the fate of the very world itself. You'll have the chance to explore this interesting setting and it's various cultures, all while dealing with civil unrest, petty nobles, and ancient secrets that were better left uncovered...

Your characters have joined the Eon Tower, a new private sect in Morgenröte that is headed by the most notable magus in this current age, and it will serve as the base of operations for the party throughout the story.

Rules

1. This setting will have elements of combat, exploration, and character development. The combat aspect will be PvE focused mainly, battles will be reminiscent of Classic DMC and a bit of Bloodborne. You are free to deal with the lesser rabble however you wish, but when it comes to larger threats or opponents of greater interest I have the final say in what sticks and what doesn’t. In the rare event that a scenario of PvP does occur, I encourage you to settle it amongst yourselves. If that is not possible, I or the Co-GM will intervene and make a final decision.

2. Aside from the group from the previous RP, I'm looking to take on 3-4 more players. That being said, I will make it a point to post an update bi-weekly. However, I will give players around 2 weeks or so if they haven’t already posted within that timeframe. If some players still haven’t posted with that time, I will presume your character did nothing and continue onward with the story. Things always come up IRL, all I ask is that you let me know, I don’t like letting people go.

3. Be respectful to one another and try to avoid disputes and needles arguments among each other. If need be, reach out to Me and the Co-GM and we’ll see what needs to be done.

4. Try to only post once when interacting with a NPC or reacting to a situation. But please, feel free to post as many times as you’d like if interacting with other players directly.

5. The characters of players are expected to be quite powerful. You have been, after all, selected to be a part of a distinct sect and are expected to complete dangerous missions. Just no godmodding of course. I encourage all to be as creative and expressive with your abilities as you wish, just be sure it falls within the six presented categories. You can utilize at most two out of the six different divinations, any more and we’ll have to discuss it. Magictech weapons and tools are also encouraged, along with martial skills if it tickles your fancy~

6. Players can create up to two characters if they so desire.

7. Please do not post your completed CS in the Character tab until it is given the official pass. Which at that point, please do place it there at your earliest convenience.

8. Players are not allowed to make characters who are directly related to a familiy from the Duodecim or one of the the Six Great Magus Houses. If you want to make them a disperaged servent or something, we can discuss it.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Seems fascinating.

For clarification, is this a more traditional high-fantasy setting, or something else? When I think magitech and science in a fantasy-esc setting, I think mid-to-late Renaissance era, which is sword & powder.

Yes, this will be a high fantasy setting, but with a different sort of spin on it. There are definitely powder weapons in the setting, but the magitech tools are set apart from that. They are imbued with mana, which allows them to generate various effects.

The era itself is set in a period where the earliest parts of industrialization are taking hold after a period of Renaissance. Some medieval aspects still exist.

Hope that answers your question.

I am kinda interested and just a thought for a char. How does someone who was brought up in the old ways of magic and seeks to preserve the old ways sound or work?

A character like that can work just fine. They would reject the notion of the accessibility of sorcery that has been made to common folk through the advent of magitech and sophisticated academics. They would view magic as a sacred art that should be revered. Like Serie from Freiren's viewpoint or how mages from the Clock Tower in the Fate series feel. Preserving it by hoarding secrets, detracting from those with less magical talent, that sort of thing.

In the beginning, there was a but a great blackness. A primordial chaos of which there were no spirits, no dreams, no time, and no life. It was a great Divergence that wreaked and raged without end or purpose. However, one day, Six Deities descended upon the interminable chaos. Being soverign representations of their individual principles, these figures would later become known as the Scions.

The Scion of Elements
The Scion of Alchemy
The Scion of Light
The Scion of Souls
The Scion of the Mind
The Scion of Void

With their divine might did they end the madness, and thus carve out a new dawn. The beginning of time, souls, dreams, and life.

A being was snared, the first come forth from the chaos, to create the earliest sprawl of life currently known. The First Flourish of civilization in this new world created by the Gods. This race led an enchanted prosperity during this period, their greatness repaid to the Scions through devoted worship and practice of the arcane arts. However, their prosperity did not last, and soon they would fall victim to the Great Cataclysm. Their race swallowed in a miasmic veil of chaos, the being and her people cried out for salvation to the Gods. But, either their voices were not heard or willingly ignored. The First Flourish died out, and all that remained were nearly silent whispers and decayed ruins.

It is now the year 1306 on the Adventus Calendar. In spite of the devestation wrought by the Cataclysm, various races have been able to reflourish and fill the world. The land has been given the name Velynostica, and has been the cradle for this new age of sorcery.

Humans - Children of Adaptability

Fae/Myrkr - Children of the Deepwood

Belua - Children of Animal Souls

Dwarves - Children of the Mountain

Gnomes - Children of the Mind

These new children of the world practice sorcery on their own terms. Sorcery is a wonderous art, is it not?

Over the ages, the art of magic has been extensively studied, passed down, and refined for more practical use. Between the various races and generations, there is a cultural clash of modern sorcery vs. more traditional forms of spellcasting, the former of which is treated more like a science and academic field of study. This is especially made evident in the advent of magitech, newly developed tools that allow the channeling of magic through sophiscated technology. The only thing that has remained constant in the world of magic are the six princples that the art was founded on.

While this current age is one of relative peace, there are various political and civil tension brewing under the surface. However, there is a true threat that yet remains unchecked. The same poison that nearly destroyed the world millennia ago threatens to do the same once again. As the world deals with interpersonal strife, the darkness seeps from every crack possible, and begins to plunge the fate of lands into chaos.

Then, there's you. Perhaps you are a budding magus, desparate to prove yourself worthy of your family's lineage. Or, mayhaps you are a member of the Holy Church, desparate to keep the practice of magic in check and stave off the darkness. Are you a Fae, who wishes to stay out of the affairs of humans and maintain the peace of the deepwoods? A Dwarf who continues to perfect the craft of iron-making or a Gnome who imbues items with sacred energy, or maybe a Belua looking to seek guidance from Mother Nature.

Whether you're a researcher who wants to make a name in the magitech research industry or a warrior seeking the next challenge, there will always be trials and obstacles to overcome to see what lies beyond the horizon.

So, the only question that remains: What path will you choose?

Heyo! Azureknight here. This is my pitch for a reboot for my previous RP. I decided to give it a much needed revamp and give it another go. Right now, along with other players from the previous build, I'm looking to fill around 3-4 more slots. Once then, I'll have a OCC up with more information.

Please fill free to reach out with any questions or concerns in the meantime!

Shizuka awoken and washed early, as he usually did. He ate lightly, as he felt that Takeshi's call would be accompanied by...busy work. As he made his way to the young lord, he was passed by Revuel, ever the weary. He showed concern over the strange sorcery he sensed coming from the yōkai last night. The bulk of it in particular stemmed from the fact that they could no longer sense the child that Kerry was carrying. Shizuka didn't quite understand the implication, but he at least understood Revuel's unease.

However...

”Revuel-san...” He began. ”I too, no longer sense the child. But, let's not our unfamiliarity with yōkai biology get the better of us. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, and I trust that they've simply found a way to keep the child in a more secure location. At most, it would be best to ask Kerry-san and Cecilia-san themselves as to the whereabouts of the child. But, I believe it's best to worry about that later.”

Shizuka eventually made his way to the courtyard, and sensed that the Hangai Sisters would be arriving soon. He imagined that Skarsneek, Gringor, Cecilia, Kerry, Liliana, Carroll, and Eula wouldn't be far behind either.

Terauchi Temple

Upon arriving back at the temple, the party was greeted by Revuel. "Greetings, Sir Revuel. The battle was indeed long and hard fought, but we managed to pull off a victory in the end. We'd do well to rest, thank you much." Shizuka said to the warrior.

Alongside Dinah, Shizuka had laid his comrades to bed, allowing them some much needed respite. Honestly, he could use some himself. He'd manage to match the speed and stave off a handful of practitioners that ganged up on him, but he took some nasty blows in that battle. His chi healing helped keep the wounds from being fatal, and Dinah's magic had ultimately saved his life in essence. He also noted how she copied one of his spells during the battle.

Shizuka would then find his thoughts being interrupted by what could only be described as visions. He began seeing glimpses into portraits and scenes of the life of a young woman with red hair and brown skin. Pinching the space between his eyes, he felt a sense of vertigo overtaking him.

A young girl losing her mother on the battlefield.

The girl becomes a young woman, adopting her mother's weapon. Determined to keep a promise made, to change the world.

Bonds

Suffering

A Promise Broken

Were these Dinah's memories? Cecilla's memories. Shizuka shook his head as the visions eventually subsided. Though the memories were not his own, the swordsman couldn't help but feel similar emotions and grievances from Cecilla's past compared to his own. A burning desire to change the world and the feeling of failure when meet face-to-face with the harshness of reality.

It seemed that she and him had more in common than he imagined.

He sensed that that others had awakened: Kerry, Liliana, and Eula, and were all headed toward where Dinah was. Her energy was rapidly fluctuating, and he remembered that she could barely keep her id conscious from before. Shizuka would likely be the first there to Dinah's beside, keeping true to his Godstep moniker.

Atsuha giggled a bit at the Raiju who attempted to flirt with the males in their taskforce. She had to admit, the jealousy they must feel at the fact that they got to actually travel with them amused her. She also chucked at Takeshi's ham-fisted explanation that led to a hasty farewell.

Walking back to the temple, Atsuha wasn't so amused by Takeshi's attempts at humor.

"Takeshi-san, you lout!" She scolded him. "The prospect of death is no laughing matter!"

Her anger began to wan when Skarsneek nestled up to her, checking on both her and Hinami.

"Fret not over it, love. Such is life on the battlefield, it's what we signed up for after all..." She responded.

"Yeah, no worries Skars-niisan!" Hinami chimed. "We won, so all's well that end's well!"

--

Upon returning to the temple, the Sisters were also treated to visions of the woman known as Cecilla - Alice's original self. The memories of a parent lost, bonds broken, and a promise still not honored. A few tears began to well in Hinami eyes, while Atsuha shook her head at the sudden assault of foreign memories. Much like there captain, Atsuha could sense that Dinah's chi was in a violent flux. Recalling the debt they owed her, the Hangai Sisters also rushed to her side.

The Heavenly Strike: ~ 紫電一閃 ~

Shizuka had finished helping mop up the foes that his other teammates had faced off against, noting the impressive tactics displayed by all of them. He then looked upon the group of Raiju that appeared before them, listening to their story as they bowed in appreciation and apologized for not providing proper aid during the battle.

"That is...quite alright. We've heard and understood your situation." Shizuka said, also noticing Eula slipping away from the group. He'd thought he should make time to check on her. But, right now there were other matters he needed to attend to.

"Kerry-san, Lili-chan, calm yourselves." Shizuka said sternly to his winged allies. "To his credit, his question from his perspective is a perfectly reasonable one. One that you need not interfere in." He then turned to Takeshi.

"On the other side, Takeshi-dono." Started the wanderer. "I will vouch for Alice-san, even given the circumstances. I'll take full responsibility for her actions, and ask that you allow me to console with her. I feel that due in large part to her efforts, everyone here in still in one piece and the mission was a success. She even aided me in a tight "

Ah, my Lord Takeshi, if I may also interject." Atsuha was the next to speak. If it not been for Alice-san returning with Lili-chan and Kerry-chan, I am and my sister may not be here right now. I also move that you allow Shizuka-san the chance to console with her."

"Alice-san came back, so that means she still care about all of us!" Hinami added.

Shizuka looked toward the sisters with a bit of surprise, but a part of him was a little pleased that Alice had made a positive impression on the sisters as well.
