Current Euh. It's been a hot minute. Things are rather different for me now, and I don't know how that translates to my presence here.

I don't *think* I'm a bad person. I might be wrong there. I try not to be, even when I screw it up for want of social awareness.

Hello, I am me from the internet. I migrated here from Kongregate's Forum Games Forum, so feel free to look for me there if you wish to follow a career in internet stalking people. (ಠ_ಠ) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Infamous Quotes From People Who Exist

“I really don’t follow how your faith believes its perfectly acceptable to doom 4,000 years plus of sentient beings, on a pre-set path of no escape from sin, just so their descendants can be offered the ‘chance of salvation’ when the god murders its own son.”
~vikaTae

“Don’t be an ass or a pussy, ’lest you get screwed by life. Being a mouth or a hand is somewhat safer, and an eye socket is pretty much sacred in this regard, so always keep a look out.”

@ClocktowerEchos Actually, I think I'm going to have to drop out of this game. It's nothing to do with your GMing style or any form of ill will, just in case you're thinking that; it's just that I've realised with how many games I've got going at once, I might not be able to keep up with this one on top of all the others, much as I'd like to think otherwise. Thank you for being reasonably patient with me whilst I was involved in this, and I hope the game goes well.
@Wraithblade6 Well, of course they need to meet up at some point. That's what we've planned on, after all. I'm not sure whether the RF traders are actually near Ga'duk's group at the moment, though... I don't think I missed those two meeting up as of current, did I?
@jbeil Your turn to post, good sir.
@Necroes Thank you for offering, but considering that Lucius will probably either kill Urg's demons or get killed by them, I'll probably have to decline for the time being.

@Sophrus Now, I was looking at Ga'duk and his group, which if I'm not mistaken hasn't come across anybody else yet (I'm trying to make sure not to mix his people up with the Rigged Fortune's crew), and I think that could make for an interesting interaction. If I recall correctly, Ogryns may or may not have a tendency to idolise Space Marines; I may be mistaken, so it bears asking what Ga'duk's specific opinion on them is, if indeed he or his squadron knows they exist.
Well, since we're on the topic of who's meeting up with whom, and because Xepherial is already meeting with a bunch of other people, does anybody feel like finding and teaming up with Lucius and his peon minion telepathy drone serf? I assume we're not all in the same parts of the ship, after all.
@Lady Selune To help pass the time, let's have players guess how it's spelt. I'm going to go with "Oeaedeaeseaeauase Jeoaenaes".
I have posted, and duly given Nuva's own thoughts on vampires showing up in Starkvale compared to Strater just being a wizard.
Since his conversation with Secret, and knowing what he did now, Nuva was at least happy that his own interests weren't at risk of being spoiled to anybody. As it happened, only Kayden and Secret herself knew of what he was; as the guild leader, the Captain ought to be considered trustworthy, whilst Secret at least seemed unlikely to talk under Kayden's pay, and considering the protracted extent to which she had gone to find out who, what, and where he was, it was in turn unlikely that anybody else would be interested enough to figure out his identity.

As for how he was valued... he'd been a bit put off by Secret's last words to him in their conversation, but understood her concerns about the subject after some thought, and it seemed like the Captain didn't just consider people to be pawns in a game either. Even so, his own ongoing angsts lingered, as they had done for quite some time, though he did his best to put them off during Kayden's explanation of what he'd learned from the Lord Pembrook, to both himself and much of the rest of the guild, up to and including a new member going by the name of Lis: armed in leather and stout in a way that humans typically weren't, though not short enough to merit being named as a dwarf. She also smelled quite strongly of flowers, even from a ways away. Odd, for a mercenary.

But he was digressing. A contract to simply guard a valuable, potentially-magical book sounded quite reasonable, especially over an untouched glass of wine. To guard it from a man who from the sounds of it had attempted to persuade Pembrook via supernatural, if not blatantly magical means, seemed a bit more dramatic in nature. Hobnob and his band of gnomes offered their services of enchantment, as though they weren't already obliged to do so, whilst Lis speculated on the various possibilities of what this Strater was, citing the worst case as an intelligent and rather powerful vampire. He'd encountered them a few times in the Low-ways, often as either feral opponents or strategic allies to Dorcha of far greater status than he, but they were nonetheless quite rare even in those locations. To have one knocking on the door of a nobleman seemed... not impossible, but somewhat unlikely compared to the alternatives.

'If I may contribute,' he asked politely with hands clasped together once Lis had finished her spiel, 'I wonder if it's not more likely that Strater is simply a mage of some power. It seems more probable, given that vampires aren't usually seen this far north, and may in some ways be the more dangerous option. We can fend off more direct attacks with our own physical ability; on the other hand, a powerful illusion spell may mean we completely fail to notice the caster sneaking in and out with the book. We'll still need to prepare any which way, obviously, but focusing on just one possibility is probably not going to work out so well for us.'

@Ollumhammersong You need more than 3 inches to kill someone quickly, though. At least if you're aiming for the center of mass. Like, you stab somebody in the chest with a knife a few times, it will likely deal lethal damage, but it's probably not going to instantly slay them, so far as I'm aware. They might not even realise they've been stabbed at first, and could consequently react by stabbing or shooting you back in that case. The equivalent sword attack is one or two swings at their center of mass with the blade - takes more time per attack with less precision, but there's consequently more force behind each attack, meaning you're probably going to lop their arm off or tear open a gaping hole in their abdominal cavity with each one if the attack isn't stopped by armour, and in 40K armour that stops swords most likely stops knives to the same areas.
@ClocktowerEchos One gun and one close combat weapon is hardly a "walking armoury". Yes, you are right that Nulls are not particularly intended to be active fighters. Given that they are relatively rare and valuable assets, however- insofar as human bodies can be considered "valuable" in the Imperium- it makes sense to arm, and to an appropriate extent armour, them on the off-chance that they do get into a fight, for instance if they're ordered to help their Inquisitional master in a firefight. And as far as fights go, it only makes sense to arm somebody with a strong weapon, which bolt pistols evidently are in this case. Once again, I admit that I may have underestimated the caliber and recoil of such, and have further stated that I'm willing to make it a las/autopistol instead (as well as the fact that it will reduce his firepower, because it is literally true that bolt pistols deal more damage per shot than their las and auto equivalents). It's also been described privately that marching around in carapace armour is not suited for Ollum's Inquisitor's style of action, so I'm more than willing to remove that from his wargear too.

As for the sword, is there any particular reason he shouldn't be trained in swordsmanship? Swords are reasonably common weapons in the Imperium, and undoubtedly deal more damage than knives, which matters more in this setting than in the real world even at the more basic levels, because knife stabs don't actually kill people immediately unless a few specific spots are targeted, and may not penetrate armour that a sword would deal with more readily. Also, since his fate outside of the Inquisition would likely have been the ASSASSIN Temples, to be trained as a Culexus ASSASSIN, and given that the Schola Progenium teaches its wards how to kill things anyway, it seems quite reasonable that he'd have started training with both knives and swords at the Schola, then continued his weapons training under whichever Inquisitor picked him up from the temple, say Inquisitor Karthis prior to his death. If it simplifies matters, I can just say his melee weapon is a "close combat weapon", make it maybe a foot, foot and a half long, and just leave it at that. You can conceal that sort of blade length reasonably well, if I'm not mistaken?
