I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

Alright, so if nothing happens by the end of the week, I'm going to take steps to start actually moving things forward. Hopefully the unofficial hiatus was good for those who needed it.

I'm going to hit the ground running and start the NoC up next week, so you may discuss among yourselves OOC which badge you plan on having your characters wear. just make sure anything you have planned comes out in IC

Now, some of you may have spotted the loophole where you do not necessarily have to wear just one badge. And in typical Danganronpa fashion, you most certainly may wear both badges! But good luck getting either sides to not kill you on sight.

Starting location, Priestella

The giant wolf was on the move. Its movements were slow, with several seconds passed between each step. There was no doubt about it, this thing was hunting them. The wolf's growling got louder with every word the group spoke. Even at their distance, they could see black saliva drip out of the beast's mouth. It had circled around the side of the table that was closest to the kitchen, but furthest away from the hallway. It's eyes were locked with theirs. A single movement could send the beast into a sprint.

The ride was fairly quiet, as everyone was still a bit shaken up over what happened. Of course, that didn't stop Vasilis from speaking.

”So Yea, magic is...” He rubbed his chin. ”Really hard to explain. It actually took me a long time to get to the point where I could make explosions. But with fire as your element, do you need any other spells?” He sighed. ”I wonder if there's someone out there, in any world, who feels the same way I do about explosions...”

It did not take long for everyone to get to the Golden Quarter. Vasilis stepped out of the cab first, and helped Irene, Chieko, Aerith, and Hiro down in that order.

”Whoa! Foreigners!” A wolf girl who looked strangely familiar was standing behind a vendor 's counter. To her left were several fruits and vegetables, and to her right were some modest clothes. ”Woops! That slipped out! Let me try that again.” She puffed out her chest and placed her hands on her hips. ”Welcome to Miles' Emporium, where we sell everything you need to enrich your life!” She gestured to the items to either side of her. ”And what's more important than a full stomach and the clothes on your back?” The wolf girl's chest deflated with a cough. ”You guys mind if we aren't so formal with each other?” She folded her hands behind her head.
”I'm Fritzi. if you need anything, I can get it for you. Even if it's just directions.

Eiko and Aki Came out of the dead end ally not too far away from Miles' Emporium. There was no sign of Helga or the guard.

Aer Fully expected the situation to get out of hand, but not like this. The three cultists/bandits/foreigners in front of her were all reacting differently, which confused her greatly. One seemed to be eager to get taken to the authorities, while another begged to remain, and the third one (their leader?) was conversing with a demi human who invited himself into this gathering. He was by no means a tall person, but it didn't take much to stand above Aer's head. She shifted side to side to try and look past the feline demi-human.

"Um." Aer flicked her eyebrows up before leaning to her left. "Sir?" She leaned to her right. "Wisp?" She waved her hand in an attempt to get his attention. "We do not have proof at the time that the magical device he holds is even his." Aer leaned to her left once again. Her brow furrowed once more. "You could be in danger. Cultists or not, this could turn into a hostage situation very quickly. I need to ask you to stand back."

At the mention of hostages, the crowd forming around the group seemed to recede a bit.
Alright, I am one hell of a wet towel, and probably not the type of person this thread is suppose to attract. But let me just explain why this idea sounds like so much fun but tends to turn into cancer really quickly.

I think we all know why this idea sounds great already. Because due to the magic of the internet, it is the one place where you could be literally anything and interact with anyone. Like you mentioned already, you could be a super sayan and surround yourself with waifus, or something too strange for most other RPs. In an idealistic world, everyone would get to do what they wanted in the same RP. And that's magical. But when people try to execute ideas like this, it quickly becomes a mess.

The first problem you have is the power scale. You have a lot of different worlds with different levels of power. The entire cast of dead or alive couldn't hope to stand a chance against a sayan, let alone a super sayan. If said super sayan happens to also be a dick, he could easily blow up earth after taking his harem safely to another planet. Sewer surfing ant can't do jack all about it. Even if you put a "no douche bags aloud." rule in effect, you're still going to need to think of challenges that are worthy of a super sayan, but still able to be completed by a sewer surfing ant, slime girl maido, or whoever else joins this RP. What happens sadly is that your RP groups develop into cliques, and they never really interact with each other if they can help it. But you'll have a lot of in fighting before that, and some people will just outright leave the RP. It can also be hard to decide which rules from which world to enforce.

Closest thing I got to playing a youtube poop RP was a crazy feudal japan era RP. I had a fire sword that when swung into an icy tundra, it turned it into a beach, complete with sunbathing supermodels, surf shops, etc. What I've found is that in a place like that where there is so little reason, it can be difficult to tell a story that players can take seriously. Also, it at times turned into a war to see who could be more silly and "funny" and it just sort of evolved into some nonsensical nightmare.

I think trying to do something so open ended is a very bad idea. Something like this might work if you can get everyone on the same page. Limit the randoms, find some reason for super sayans to not be able to wipe out planets if you plan on allowing them, and find a reasonable level for the silliness where things can be funny, but not so absurd that they break the world.

can I ship the 1x1 erp forum with the arena forum? Enemies to lovers, KYAAA!!!~ 😍😍😍

roleplayerguild.com/topics/163286-tzd…

You're welcome.
What is your opinion on character sheets?

What is there to say? They aren't widely used because it's a fad. It's important to let everyone know what you plan on doing in the RP. We don't want the story filled with big sword wielding emos with spiky hair. We don't want a bunch of characters with zero chemistry, and sometimes we just want to see what your character is all about. There's a reason why nobody opts to let people just jump in on more serious Rps.

Faceclaims? Real life? Anime? Digital? Hand drawn? None?

This is preference, and I honestly don't think it really matters as long as it fits the theme of the RP. I wouldn't join an anime RP with a RL face claim, no more than I would join a WWII era RP with an anime face claim if the RP is trying to be an authentic war story.

But if you want to hear my personal preferences, each type of picture has its ups and downs. Anime characters tend to be more about the outfits, so you don't get more minute details represented in anime pictures, like square jaws or facial creases. I actually like this, because it takes things like my character's race out of the equation. Real life is okay, but more often than not people tend to use celebrities or other overly pretty people. Even though most anime characters are inherently “attractive,” I find the readers have a bit more leeway in deciding if a character is attractive for themselves, where the extra details almost force you to perceive a character a certain way. Which is not to say the limited body types for animecharacters isn't a problem sometimes. Digital and hand drawn tends to fall between the two, sharing the benefits and drawbacks of one or the other. Honestly, I use to go without pictures, but I got tired of people forgetting details. A picture at the very least puts everyone on the same page.

Color codes?

Coloring headers and the like to make a character sheet look sharp is fine if you know what you're doing. I'm not a huge fan of gradients, super dark colors, eye burn blue, etc. But I think that has more to do with the guild BG not being a web safe color and changing on everyone's devices. The gradient fans have no excuse though. Especially when they use ugly gradients.

What's the 'right amout' of images?

Images are kind of data intensive for some people, so the fewer the better. But if you want to have a picture of a character or a weapon, sure, include it.

Freeform or GM provided code?

I like to fill out a GM provided code and maybe make small edits to it to personalize it, when I'm feeling cheeky. As a GM, I also like providing code to get a certain level of consistency.

Things that should be be included/excluded?

What should be included is everything the GM needs to know to run the RP, and everything else should be excluded. I tend to raise an eyebrow when I see weird fields like my character's marital status or measurements that go beyond height and weight. If it's not important to the RP, it's just a waste of time. Same with passwords.

What is your character creation process? Is character creation just all together overrated?

My character creation process varies depending on what I'm trying to do. The two processes I use most in recent times I have nicknamed the “who is this?” process and the “Revamp” Process.

“Who is this” essentially has me looking for a picture for a character to play in an RP. I sometimes know certain aspects of the character I want to play, and find a picture that matches. I will avoid going for face claims where I know the character well, or ones that have a severe lack of accessories or design features. Once I have a picture, I will ask myself questions about them. Why they are wearing every article of clothing, why their face is like that, etc. From these questions I will get data that I can create more questions with, and the process repeats until I've created the character.

“Revamp” is a bit different, as I'll look for a character I know a bit about. I don't necessarily need a picture for this, just a character in mind. Though I will always go for a character that I don't like. Preferably one that I hate everything about. The next step is to decide what this character's “job” was in story, and make adjustments to make the character different and enjoyable to play. The end result is usually a character that has a similar flavor to the old character, but is nothing like them and is actually one I respect.

And character creation is most certainly not overrated. Some people do get a bit too caught up creating a character and don't spend enough time actually playing them, but having an interesting character with desires that make sense is not something to be overlooked.

With the conflict resolved, Tonya was able to safely depart the scene with fate's vision realized.

Veronica had reverted back to her normal form and vanished from sight. Being in the business, she was nigh impossible to be found unless she wished it.

Su few around just long enough to see what was happening around the apartment complex before deciding to return. There was too much fighting going on, and she'd have to call off her search early if the fight went to the hotel. Not only that, but Mika seemed like the sort that would try to find her if she was missing. But the time spent flying around outside did give Su time to clear her head. She returned to her room and sat at her desk. Seconds later, she had a pen and paper in her hand.

Alicia, Helga, Scout, Alexander, Silhouette, Penny, Ayana, Makoto, Eli, Mariette, Suwako, and herself. That was the team that stormed Justine's castle. Barring any of Justine's girls, it had to be one of them. From what she could recall, none of Justine's girls made it.

It wasn't Sillhouette, Helga, Alexander, Ayanna, or Scout. Most of them were with her in the castle, and even if Ayanna and Scout weren't, they were no where near the ship when she went after Amber.

It wasn't Makoto either. She, Alexander, and Helga went under the castle before the fight around the ship even broke out. Makoto also seemed to be very eager to explore as much of the castle as possible, and that didn't seem like something that would leave her near the ship.

It wasn't Suwako, Eli, or Mariette either. Or at least that was what Su had originally suspected. Since they were on the beach, they couldn't have been in the middle of the lake. But Mariette's portal magic made it possible to be anywhere. But she doubted she would risk using her portals to put Suwako anywhere near a falling ship. So it made sense to at least cross her off.

Su was left with a list that looked something like this:

Suwako
Alicia
Helga
Scout
Alexander
Silhouette
Penny
Ayana
Makoto
Eli
Mariette

It was evident looking at the list that it could have been one of these four people. One of them were near earth bastion, and Boteg had recognized their energy as the terrible one's champion. It was either Mariette and Eli, or a beacon girl. Su hated the idea of thinking it was any of them. But on the up side, she wouldn't have to do too much running around to figure out who it was.

With everyone saved, there wasn't really much reason for Mika to stick around. That girl from earlier was nowhere to be seen, and everything seemed to be okay. ”Mister bear?” Mika stood up on her hind legs, unsure of where this mister bear was. She was a miss bear, so it wasn't her. As soon as the Djinn sisters revealed themselves, Mika reverted out of her bear form into a magical girl again. ”Hey! We sort of have the same outfit! ” She tugged lightly on her own uniform. ”I'm mostly Indian, but I found it kind of interesting that I have a Persian performer's uniform. But my grandma on my mom's side was Persian, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.” Before Mika could continue her banter though, she suddenly remembered what she was suppose to be doing. ”Oh right, I gotta scoot! Maybe we can all meet up later?” Mika didn't stick around for a response and ran back into the ally where she left Su's breakfast. ”Please don't smell like garbage!” She repeated like a mantra while picking up the bag again. After transforming back into a human, she started to walk back to the Golden Trove apartment complex. Hopefully there wouldn't be any more spirit attacks for a while.
What is the deadline for votes? I might have looked past it but I didn't see it.

Ashton held up his phone as a video played out on it. A video of him and flame in some far off land that probably wasn't a part of this new world. Aer kept her distance, but leaned in to see the tiny image playing out on the screen. It made noises, and everyone could hear Ashton, Flame, and his family. Some of the onlookers gasped, and spoke to each other in hushed tones. Aer smiled and closed her eyes.

"Alright, I can see I was wrong to suspect you might be bandits." Her eyes shot open, and her smile had entirely vanished from her face. "You're cultists!" She pulled something off of her back and held it in both of her hands. It was still covered in cloth, but at this point it was very evident it was a pole weapon of some kind. "No self respecting bandit would let you walk around with such a powerful magical device!"

It would seem that Ashton has perhaps overlooked the fact that the video on his phone was only really proof to people who understood how a phone worked. Anyone in his old world would know how difficult it was to edit something like a movie on a phone. But this world understood magic, not electronics. The image on his phone could have been an illusion, a collection of tiny actors locked inside the phone, or a staged scene. It meant very little to people who didn't understand how it worked. Certainly it would be impossible to teach someone who was suspicious of you.

"Even if you're innocent, it's too dangerous for you to walk around without any sort of documentation." There was no mistaking it, she just slid her feet into a stance. "I'm not going to ask a third time, you will come with me. Now."

Starting location, Priestella

The creature growled as it attempted to push past Frede, But it was a simple matter for the bestial knight to wrestle the thing to the ground. It kicked and snapped it's teeth in the air, but appeared to be pinned in place. Even if it could move, Anyon had cut off any route of escape.

The trio walked back out into the hallway, shards of glass in hand. Father whiskey illuminated the way from the back with his lighter. Alistair and Flame could hear him saying things about “these kids” with a smile and shake of his head. As they quickened their steps, whiskey only laughed and kept up. They passed many rooms, but they soon walked through the doorway at the end.

The end room was a massive dining hall. It was very long, and featured a single rectangular table that could probably seat over a hundred men. It still had a table cloth on it, it had almost entirely rotted away. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and whiskey's lighter was just bright enough to illuminate the cobwebs stretching between them. There was a massive door at the other end of the room. Anyone who knew anything about how such establishments were set up could guess that it was likely a kitchen. But there was something else in the room with them. At first it looked like Lord Talus's glowing eyes and smile. But they were too small, too close to the ground. This was not the giant that approached them previously.

“Goa.”

The chandeliers all lit up, revealing the shape of the figure. It actually looked like a maid, but it had that same “effect” that Lord Talus had. Being made of black, smoldering darkness that flaked off into the air. With the extra light, the trio could see the walls were covered in decorative drapes, and most of them looked to still be in good shape. There were a few open windows, but they were relatively high up. Maybe fifteen feet above the floor. But the most concerning thing in the room was the giant wolf at the other end of the table. It was starting to stand up now that all the lights were on. Unlike the other wolf, this one was truly a monster. Once it was up on all fours, it was easily ten feet tall. The smoldering maid gave everyone a wave before vanishing entirely. The wolf made no sudden movements, but its growl could be heard anywhere in the guild hall.

Vasilis forced a grin, but his eyes were still spinning. ”Uh, I just sort of, think about what spell I want to use, and then the magic happens when I focus.” He closed his eyes. ”I'd actually be happy to go into detail with you later about it.” He looked over his shoulder at Irene. ”You think we got them all?”

”I wouldn't count on that.” A wolf girl in suspenders and a disheveled shirt ran a hand through her hair before leaning out the window of an adjacent building. ”There are so many poor and hungry and so few rich folks like yourselves.” She giggled. ”It's really not true what they say about the strong dominating the weak. The hungry will always devour the plump.” She sighed and looked at Hiro. ”But how did you spot that ambush? Hmmmmmm, Hmmmmm...” She rubbed her chin while intently staring at Hiro. She was humming loudly enough that she might not hear Hiro's response, should he choose to talk. Or perhaps this was her way of letting him know an answer wasn't necessary. ”Anyway, I think tight-eyes over here has the right idea. You should leave as soon as possible. If you're worried about running into a second ambush, I'm sure he could spot it a mile away! With those tight eyes of his.” She gave everyone a wink before stepping away from the window, vanishing from sight.

While Eiko and Aki considered their response, Hilda panicked and bolted past everyone, including the guard. ”Hey! Stop right there!” The soldier immediately took off after Hilda, leaving the two other girls alone in the allyway.

Aer glanced between Ashton and Yuuki as they took turns speaking. Though she did glance momentarily at Aaron as well.

"Yes, I figured you weren't local. I'm actually a stranger here myself." To demonstrate this, she waved her arm along the visible trinkets they could see. "My name is Aer Pacifica. I'm an adventurer who's task is currently locating Mistress Vertti. She is no one I have personally met, and she has been gone for over a week." She sighed before extending her hand to the side. "If you're new to the area, you probably won't be of much help. Though the offer is appreciated." Aer was about to walk off, but she suddenly froze in place. "Oh, right." she turned to look at the three boys. "This city is sealed off. It's surrounded by bandits and the only people allowed to go in or out are licensed adventurers and merchants." She squint her eyes. "If you were kidnapped, then you're walking around in the open now because...?" Aer closed her eyes. "I don't have time for this. But it's not safe to walk around here. You're clearly not locals, and if you don't have a passport that allows you entry, the punishment can be very harsh." The cloaked woman fixed her eyes on Aaron and reached behind her back with one arm."I'm going to take you to the authorities. What they do to you will not be pleasant, but at least you'll have a chance to prove you're not in league with the bandits."

The locals were becoming increasingly interested in the group of boys, and started to stop and observe the scene. The longer they waited, the more denser the crowd would get.
All muh boys came to play!

So excited!
