I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

Alright guys, you're scaring me. I didn't enter by myself did I?
I acquired slap city a while back. It's definitely in the vein of "smash brother's clone," but I've found it to be thoroughly enjoyable. If you're looking for a cheep party game, and don't mind the momentary lack of features, this might be up your ally.
Are we really having a discussion based on why starting a mass shooting after losing a gaming tournament is bad? Is that something we really need to discuss? Like, is anyone going to honestly say it's okay to kill a few people if you lose at a tournament?

I know it's "olde hat," but what's everyone's thoughts on spending money on F2P games? Here's an article that was pretty hot a while back But it's actually sort of inaccurate when compared to more recent studies, which you can find here. Though it seems like what it takes to get called a whale nowadays has lowered drastically.

Putting my own opinion out there, I've found that very few mobile F2P games are more sophisticated than the average flash game you can play anywhere for free. Some of them just do a better job at being addicting, like having time sensitive events and what not.
@Dias Blade I hear ya about the mod related stuff, but the only people who can do any of the heavy lifting code stuff is Mahz. It's like inkarnate says, we really are a community that supports itself. There are some pretty good perks that come from that, but also some nasty cons.

Once I get done with this writing contest (both submitting an entry and voting), I'll have to put up a thread sometime. I've also gotta make some arena characters too I guess. so it might be a bit. Hue hue.

With Chloe safe, there was no reason to let the monster attack persist, so Tonya began to silently dispatch the remaining spirits.

Shion's clone and Eliza would not have to wait long for Veronica to show up. Anyone who knew anything about the Ebon Mint in Penrose knew about the infamous immortal red vampire. While she isn't actually a vampire, she is certainly as powerful as one, and is most frequently seen at night. It was not common to spot her moving around, least of all during the day. Perhapse that was why she looked so irritated.

When Veronica approached the two, she locked eyes with “Shion.” If Eliza was paying attention, she might have noticed Shion's eyebrows twitch. Veronica was furrowing her eyebrows as well, which was getting more prominent the longer she looked at Shion. As the staring match continued, Shion slowly lifted her hands up to the side of her head, while Veronica grit her teeth in irritation. The vampire took slow, agonizing steps towards Shion. As she closed in, her hand swirled with a myriad of cursed energy. But as soon as she touched the clone, it blew apart into magical energy. Veronica bounced back in surprise, before turning to look at Eliza. The vampire growled, and Eliza could feel a sharp pain probing at her mind.

“This is going to feel unpleasant, but it's mostly to keep up appearances. Mostly.” She took a step towards Eliza, and the pain became more substantial. “You do not need to become friends with your targets. It is imperative that you don't tell everyone you meet that you work for Ebon Mint. You'll live a lot longer if you do.” Her arm swirled in darkness. “That was one of Shion's duplicates. She deceived you by carefully walking around your questions. Otherwise, you'd have picked up that she was lying right off the bat. You will not be fooled so easily next time.” When Veronica touched Eliza, she felt the strength leave her legs, and she fell to the ground. “Shion and her clones do appear to be resistant to my magic. I was not able to extract her exact location. However, I did get a few hints...” In Eliza's mind, she could see a tent with Shion(?) and her clones. They also appeared to be on top of a building. “Shion was likely in contact with her clones. She will soon become aware one of them were taken out. Your have a limited amount of time to find her before she moves again.” Veronica turned around and started to walk away. The pain by this time had entirely subsided. “Get up, and complete your mission.”

Su closed her eyes with a growl. ”You know I have no intention of leaving anyone behind.” Su found herself biting the inside of her lower lip. That's right. Even though sometimes Su felt alone, Helga must have still been hurting from Amber's death. She might not have known her as long as Su did, but she used her wish to grant Helga flesh, and was the one who gave her a chance to turn her life around. Even so, Su hated the fact that Helga would even suggest Su could die the same way Amber did. Su was strong, fierce, like a dragon! She could feel her blood boiling. So took a breath before sliding her hand out of Helga's grasp. ”I would never...” Make the same mistake she did. But su wouldn't let her say it. This conversation was already running longer than it had to. ”Thank you.” She gave Helga a quick bow before turning around to enter her room.

While no one saw her come out of her room, a few people outside might have seen something fly out of her window. Most people would catch a glimpse of a black shape flying out the window and quickly maneuvering around the city streets. But few would be able to identify the object as a woman in a black Chinese dress. ”Where are you, champion?”

Mika eventually found herself bounding towards a desperate looking scene. A magical boy appeared to be saving as many people as he could while other helped. "Oh no! So uncool!" Well, Mika did remember that Su explicitly told her not to join in on any magical girl related activities, but this was the type of situation that she simply had to be a part of. There were so many wounded, and not everyone could be easily accessed. She quickly snuck into an alleyway and placed Su's food on the ground next to a garbage can. "Tooth and claw, beak and paw, It's me you saw!" A brilliant flash of light beamed out of the ally way, followed by a lumbering bear with the voice of a small girl. "I'm here to make this situation a bit more bear-able!" While the spirits themselves were targeting civilians, this did cause a few auto accidents. A car had veered off course and drove into the back of another car. The door was jammed, and there seemed to be an unconscious man inside. "Alright, I got this!" When Mika got next to the car, she took hold of the car door and wrenched it off with a mighty tug. It skidded across the street until it was stopped by a mail box. The man inside was barely conscious, and didn't even realize he was being saved by a bear. "I got your back!" She picked up the man like he was a bear cub and lumbered towards Alexander. Or was it one of his clones? "Here!" After setting the man down, she scampered off to find someone else to rescue.

@Crusader Lord

The sewers were an ideal hide out for the bates in many regards. Aside from being a vast subterranean area sroud in darkness, it let them travel around Penrose quickly, quietly, and undetected. But the one thing it didn't supply them with was food, and sleeping in the sewers was also something that even Elroy wasn't especially fond of. And while the darkness was very useful to the Bates, their recruits had no real need for it. With their growing numbers, they were going to need to lay claim to a “surface side outpost” sooner or later. They would have loved to discuss such arrangements with a certain magical girl, however, they did not have luck finding her. So they were foced to look for an outpost in a less conspicuous location.

"So much for finding scarf girl, huh?" Elroy squeezed the last of his “MTN Dew” into his mouth before chucking the can at an overloaded garbage can. He missed anyway. "She was like perfect girlfriend material, am I right?"

Regina rocked her jaw left and right. "Is there a reason why you insist on pairing me up with every magical girl we encounter?"

"You use to be all over those romance manga." He chuckled. "Or I guess 'we' were, since we weren't magical at the time." He lifted a finger up to his lower lip. "But I guess you have a harem now, so maybe you're not really looking for romance?"

"I'm looking for protection, Elroy. Just as you seek out 'fun' and 'havoc,' I seek control of my surroundings."

Elroy shrugged and cast his arms out to either side. "So you've got a bunch of magical girls all mind twisted now. I'm probably among them."

"What are you trying to imply?" Regina looked away from Elroy. "When this first happened to me, to us, you saved me. Out of everyone, you're the one person who I'd never do anything like that to."

"Maybe you just make me forget something every once in a while?"

Regina's head shot up. "Save it." Regina locked her eyes on an abandoned school in front of herself. "I can sense a mind in there. It could just be a squatter or..."

"A magical girl." Elroy took his shield off his back and walked towards the school. Meanwhile, Regina sunk into the shadow of a tall building so that she could support him from a distance. "Yoohoo!" The incubus yelled and waved his arms. "Come out with your hands up! This is the police, the fashion police! No shirt, no shoes, no service!"

From Regina's vantage point on a two story window (there weren't any tall structures near the school) She placed a hand over her face and slowly dragged it down. . "Where did you learn how to say so many ridiculous things?"
Contest... Entry... Inbound...
@Dias Blade I think the problem we have right now is that even if we were to agree on a course of action, no one would be able to follow through with it. I'm running 2 RPs, and I doubt I could host a contest at the same time. Everyone else seems too busy as well. Reforming the PVP point system would be fine, but we'd need Mahz to code that in. So basically it's unlikely going to happen.

So all that's really left to do is participate in fights and hope activity goes up. Thing is, I'm not really interested in doing a fight where the characters can bench press small cars, outrun the worlds fastest mammals, and have powers that are on anime meme levels of absurdity. Even if I found a fight that looked good, I still might not participate if I think I'm not going to get along with my opponent.

So I'm just gunna keep being quiet until I see something that interests me.

Oh, and there's a writing contest going on.

EDIT: I should note that there's noting wrong with people who enjoy those types of fights. They're just not my style, heh.
@Calle I find it funny how you had the shortest entry last time, and now you might have the longest!

I'm sure it'll be an interesting read.

This was Mistress Vertti's thirteenth disappearance, and she's been gone now longer than she ever had. She never told Grisaia where she'd gone, at least not an answer he's willing to believe. She had no enemies that anyone knew of, and her wealth was nothing other nobles would be after. She didn't have any serious vices that anyone knew about. she use to practice magic. In her very prime she use to utilize magic on a regular basis, but an accident had lead to her vowing to never do such ever again. Grisaia was rather light on the details, but it was an important clue, she suspected. And then there was the matter of her uniform, which was always wet, scuffed, or torn near the hem of her dress. And Grissa, being her adopted son, wasn't someone who she would lie to without good reason. He was the one who called the guild for help after all.

Aer didn't notice much when she inspected her bed room, but it seemed like she still had all of her suitcases. A servant told Aer that she typically left with a pocketbook that might carry extra clothes and other necessities. But she always came back dressed exactly as she had when she left. She also learned that she was formerly married, but her husband left her once she decided to dedicate her life to helping the humans and demi-humans. It seemed like she spent a lot of time trying to help people after the war, and used a lot of her own money to do it. She also works an artisan's guild, which is where her money comes from.

Aer had some working theories. It was possible that Mistress Verri had found someone she fancied and was sneaking off to meet with them in secret. It was scandalous, but didn't really explain the clothes. Another theory she had put mistress Vertti in some secluded place where she could practice her magic. If she was conducting rituals, it would explain the condition of the bottom of her dress. But then she needed a motive for it. She had a lot of small details, but nothing that added up to a coherent whole.

But all was not lost. Aer just needed more information, which meant she needed to do some more investigating. After talking with the servants, she knew the mistress was known for visiting the Cham. Apparently she was very well known by the locals, which meant there was a possibility one of them had seen her. At the very least, there were more people to talk about her.

Starting location, Priestella

The trio wandered deeper into the building, doing what they could to avoid facing the knights again. Except for father whisky, who was just following because he believed it was part of some game. The door opened into a long corridor, with barely any light. Behind them they could see two knights coming in, and aparently a girl fell on the ground. If one had to judge, she leaned on the door thinking it was a wall. I'm just a narrator, so don't ask me how that happened. Regardless, the trio pressed forth. Determined to not get killed this time.

But as they walked down the corridor, they noticed a pair of tail lights turn on at the end of the hallway. While none of them were extremely familiar with this new world, they knew that the inside of a building was no place for a car. But when it growled, they quickly realized it was indeed, Not the back of a car. The trio only had a moment to duck into a side room as the creature came barraling out of the darkness. But it ran right past their door, and straight towards the knight and hapless woman on the floor. It seemed the knights would be in for a fight soon.

Even though the beast had run past the trio, they could hear more growling deeper in the building, where the first beast had come from. This would provide a good distraction, but now they needed a way out. The room they were currently in was a bedroom. There was a dresser, adorned with a vanity mirror, a bed, and a chest at the foot of the bed. Though the dresser and chest would be empty. There was also a window, but it had been boarded up for a very long time.

Center Ally , Suttling's Basin, Priestella

”Uh, um...” Vasilis tightened his grip on his ax. He wouldn't speak up if Irene didn't want him to.

As Hiro and Chieko ran through the pathway where they were initially ambushed, they created quite a stirr. The woman who stood by the window on the lowest floor didn't look like she was sure if she should open or shut the sutters. But ultimately decided to slam them shut. Only one of the bandits were ready, and ready was being very generous. He was still looking for his target when he looked out the window.

”There!” Vasilis wasted no time diving into the second story window. He did seem to really love his “rocket” propelled jumps. As soon as he landed inside, everyone could hear the sounds of bandits shouting, as well as bolts and ax flying through the air. The bandits on the other side of the street opened their shutters and tried to aim across the street at Vasilis. But the only time he showed himself was for the brief moment he jumped from his side of the street to theirs. The crossbow bandits weren't going to be a problem.

The doors on either side of the street opened up, and the mob spilled into the street. But their prey wasn't conveniently positioned in the center of the street this time. They turned to the running Hiro and Chieko, seemingly oblivious to the others, and chased them down the street. Though in their malnourished state, they wouldn't be able to keep up with the people they were chasing.

Center road, The Golden Quarter, Priestella

This time, Mono arrived in a street free of cultists. He glanced around, but all he saw were the panicked merchants and guards. ”I do not have time for this.” Mono Mono bent over to pick up the spilled cup of ice tea. After examining it, he spun on his heel and pointed down several alleyways. ”Duo, Trio, Quatro. Bring them to the old guild hall when you find them.” Three of the soldiers departed to go down different alleyways. ”The rest of you, let's haul ass!” With a wave of his hand, the rest of his troops followed him.

One of the soldiers bolted down the dead end street that lead to where Eiko, Hilda, and Aki were. Due to Hilda's position, she wasn't in clear view behind the broken boxes. ”Excuse me ladies, but did you see any of the supposed cultists come this way?” The soldier had perfect posture, a polight tone, but his helmet completely obscured his face.

””Near the docks”, Cham, Priestella

Ashton and Yuuki were both being pulled along by Aaron, who seemed to have successfully avoided detection. The gamble that Mono wouldn't send any men this way seemed to have paid off. Though they were still getting odd looks from people all around them. It was probably too soon to say they were out of danger.

"Excuse me." As attention grabbing as their own outfits might have been, the girl that stood before them might have had them beat. She was wearing a red cloak, and where it parted she seemed to be wearing lots of lots of golden trinkets. And if the jingling was any indication, she was wearing a lot more than what was visible. "I must apologize if you're not from around here, but I'm looking for a Mistress Vertti. Have you seen her recently?"
