Now, I have a pretty wide array of characters I can pull from and adapt for the setting; but the character I'm most likely to use would be an ex peace keeper who got abducted during a mission and was used as a sacrifice for a ritual summoning.

The ritual was interrupted part way, causing his body to become fused with a Hound of Tindalos. The fusion would result in him gaining their power to move through space using sharp corners as portals. I may try to think up some time-related power if i can puzzle out something that isn't overpowered, since the Hounds of Tindalos have a rather nasty habit of turning time travelers into their next meal.

I'm fine with the concept of someone being kidnapped and used for a failed ritual summoning, becoming fused with an eldritch abomination. But time is a bit of a no-no. There's really no real way to having a time power that works in a roleplay setting. I'm fine with sharp corner teleportation and the abomination itself having time powers, but not really a player character. Also, time traveling NPCs is a can of worms that I don't want to ever have to open, especially for something that'd be nothing more than a side-story.

Hungry magic would be something like a magical artifact that does not necessarily do evil things but in the process of actively trying to get used and gain power kills, maims, or traumatizes people and/or destroys physical objects. So, yes, mages acting without repurcussions type of magic

Yea, that's gucci then.

OOC coming sometime today, probably.
I'm game, but I offer something more to add. You ok with my character being involved in more of a "hungry magic" type of supernatural? It seems complementary to Eldritch horror as it makes some magic seek to gain power and use despite ruining lives and property.

If not, I will go more Lovecraftian Eldritch horror style, Elder Gods slumbering.

As for angels, demons, lycanthropes, and other beings, you could add them as representatives or byproducts of the eldritch powers that be, thus giving more variety to the powers. It would be curious to see eldritch corrupted "angels" and eldritch corrupted "demons".

Not exactly sure what you mean by hungry magic. All I can find about that is MTG cards. If it's like a mage that acts with zero repercussions, that should be fine. Just know that humans have absolutely zero "magic" potential and are forced to bend otherworldly elements via materials or complex somatics.

I'm not going to preclude angels, demons, or traditional supernatural beings. They could exist in some shape or form. However, I won't be going by their romanticized or theological origins. For instance, an angel could be a very beautiful but alien being, making it look unsettling to the point of being disgusted by it. Hence why angels always say "Don't be afraid". People can attach it to religion and associate that supernatural being with their faith, but the being itself has no concrete origin that mankind knows about. That's what I'm more going for. More mystery.

Think less hot angels and more "Oh god, that's a fetus with wings", more or less.

And seeing how we have enough to start, time for my ass to work on the OOC.

Have some basic knowledge packets that your characters should know about the world. It's extremely rough right now. Will actually write them up when the OOC comes along. Ask any questions about the world or give any ideas. I'm pretty open.

And a CS. Feel free to make it your own with coding or adding sections. It is pretty basic, after all. Don't feel the need to include a character image. They're nice to have, but not everyone has savant levels of image finding like me.

Name: (Real name.)
Alias: (Contractors almost always use aliases for the sake of privacy)
Personality: (Feel free to make it as short or long as you want, this only exists to make sure characters don't overlap too much)
Appearance: (Anything the picture doesn't cover; height, weight if you want)
History: (How they ended up working as a contractor, their reputation/notable missions working for Ultralight if a veteran)
Capabilities: (Supernatural abilities, fighting style, talents - anything skill that is notable)
Equipment: (Anything notable they use: weapons, armour, robot arm, things of that sort - don't feel the need to include wealth or any throw away items)
Other: (Anything else you want to include - delete this if there's nothing, you scoundrel, you)
Nice, just one to four more and we can get this on the road.
Looks pretty cool! I'm down for this. One question, though; what do you mean by "supernatural", exactly?

By supernatural, I mean anything that can't be explained. Less angels, demons, vampires, traditional werewolves and more Eldritch Abominations, though. It's edgy, after all.

Dystopian, supernatural, grimdark

Welcome to Eden. One of the last few bastions of free society. The autonomous city-state is known for high crime-rates, an oxymoronic peace force, and supernatural occurrences. For the citizens who aren't wealthy enough to buy their way to safety, it's a horrendous place to live. But it's not like anywhere else is any better. Safer than the bandits and flesh-melting heat outside, at least.

The city is corrupt. Corporations act above the law. If one lives in the wards, they can have their choice of living in gangland or terrorized by the peace force. The districts aren't much better. Terror attacks and supernatural forces pervade Eden. Citizens can do nothing but try to keep the abominable horrors out of their minds. The supernatural isn't something that normal people can handle. Not the peace force, not Eden's government, not the gangs.

But that's why Ultralight exists.

To illuminate what lies in the shadows.

Ultralight is an RP about conspiracies, fighting against the supernatural, and trying to survive against all odds. Y'all will play the part of contractors, free-lance agents working for Ultralight. Contractors come from all walks of life. Some may be grizzled criminals, released solely to work for Ultralight. Some may be fresh-faced newcomers who only know of Ultralight because they got caught up in a supernatural occurrence. Often times, contractors are afflicted by supernatural phenomena themselves, giving them the ability to use things such as telekinesis. While Ultralight primarily fights against the supernatural, they also end up having to clash with gangs and the peace force.

The world is somewhere between near-future and cyberpunk. I would hesitate to call it cyberpunk, even with corrupt megacorps, East-Asian aesthetics, and gang fights. There's no neurojacking, very little body-hacking outside of true prosthetics (cybernetics are still in their infancy, robot hand is about as far as you can get as a normal person), laser weapons, or true AI. Traditional cartridge based weapons are still the most prevalent form of firearm. Cost-prohibitive magnetic weapons are used by the peace force and the rich.

The city of Eden is heavily divided by wealth. There are the wards (slums similar to the Kowloon Walled City), the districts (such as red light and downtown, middle-class tend to stay here), and the centre (where all of the rich stay, massive glitzy skyscrapers that can be seen from anywhere in Eden). Large areas of Eden are often ghost towns due to the supernatural.

At first, the story will be more linear. As the conspiracies and new foes pop up, the RP will become more open. Post rate would be something around weekly, because that's always a decent rate. For the length, I don't really mind. Of course, I would prefer if people didn't write 10,000 character posts or rapid fired with single sentences, but I would say it's fine to post a single paragraph every once in a while, especially when someone else is the focal point of a scene. It's anime aesthetic because thematic cohesion.

I can answer any questions. Just need to gauge interest before I commit to full write-ups and character sheets.
"I would like to thank you for the offer of joining the covenant, but I think at this time, we are unable to." Ash said, her tone deliberate and authentically polite.

If she joined the church, she would most likely be safe. However, she would also live the rest of her life as a nun. Ironically, spending fourty, fifty, or even sixty years helping others wasn't the life Ash wanted to live. She would rather end her life than live an indentured one.

While prospects of soup sounded nice, she already had her pork. Having soup meant for those who had nothing to eat while she had some food in her pocket would feel wrong. She ate what remained of the slab and rested on a lonesome pew near the two. She had hidden her bloated coin bag between her chest and hands, keeping what little possessions she had safe.

"Yea, it would be for the best if we rest now. Reconvene after, then," Ash said to the others with a hesitating pause, "we figure this all out."

And then she went to sleep on the miserably hard wooden pews.
"About an hour, Ash had responded as her breath had begun to return, "maybe."

Ash wasn't exactly sure. She hadn't kept track of time. It felt like half an hour to finally see the church, but it felt like an eternity to ascend the stairs with Matteo in tow.

Seeing Matteo's face be healed seemed alien. It felt completely new. Ash, however, didn't panic or become flustered. She had decided to throw what little common sense she possessed away. It would be easier that way.

Donations, however, were Matteo and Aoi's responsibility. They would be the ones to handle it. Ash had nothing to do with Matteo getting hurt in the first place. The biggest hurdle they faced wasn't donations to the church, however. It was what to do next.

"What do we do now?" Ash had said to herself, her voice little more than a whisper.
My apologies but between me being gone for the next week and everything else being considered, I'm probably going to end up dropping out too.
I take it you intend to be our fourth?

If you're willing to take the meme build buff daddy himself.
also a literal wall to prevent weeb from making team lesbian jokes
Well, we can have up to four players per team, so we could look for a fourth.
