*My expression was somewhat dry, as I took his hand and shook carefully, still minding my strength just in case.*
Oh, I suppose I guess I expected you to have sensed it already, but I wasn't really concerned about dying. Since most tales of "Death" as a being tend to revolve around those with a bit of concern over the cosmic balance, I was more worried about your stance on people that sort of sit outside the conventional life/death cycles. Which, you know...
*I gestured at Alna and the vampire-looking guy, Vinashy.*
We got these guys sure, and it's not that I can't die, more-so that I don't exactly stay dead. I'm genuinely not even entirely sure how it works myself. That's a bit too high-concept for me, since I did it on accident honestly. But probably, the reason I keep getting banished from other dimensions is that people can't get rid of me otherwise. I mean, the first time around, it was basically an all-star line-up of my world's godly pantheons, and they were pissed that I'd somehow outdone them in terms of immortality.

*I raised a skeptical brow at that, but shrugged in acceptance*
Okaaay, sure, I'll bite. My apologies, I don't exactly have the best experience with god-like beings as far as altruism is concerned. But sure, I'd be a pretty poor guest if I wasn't willing to act as a defender in times of need.
<Snipped quote by Dark Cloud>
*Working my jaw, I couldn't help my brows furrowing, as I hummed thoughtfully. Glancing around at the room's occupants, I decided to be forthright.*
Right, so... as much as I'd love to believe you're the purely altruistic sort, I hope you'll forgive me asking what the catch is? I mean, I don't really got anywhere to go or... I guess goals presently. But I did used to do mercenary work. As long as it's not innately conventionally morally contemptable, I'm game for paying back a favor. Though, given how uh... out of my depth I'm feeling here, I can't quite imagine what I could do that you can't far more quickly and effortlessly.
<Snipped quote by Uncle Death>
*Even with Overclock V5 running at full bore, the only real warning I had of the second skeleton's repositioning was the reappearance of his aura directly beside me. Thankfully, between my enhanced perception and speed, I had a small eternity to panic in fast-forward, so fast that it ceased to be perceptible in combination with my relatively solid composure. I resisted the urge to cringe away from the very literal touch of death, my personal space quite thoroughly invaded, as I carefully and politely as I could manage reached over to brush the limb off me.*
Collin. I'm new around here... but that's pretty obvious. And "lively"? Ironically, that must be my line, given how chummy you're being.
So for those of you who also have to wait until level 3 to get their subclass, what subclass do you plan on picking?
<Snipped quote by Dark Cloud>
*Death him-fucking-self? Absolutely wonderful. My flat expression didn't quite convey the existential dread of that concept... more because my very existence was as likely to fascinate as it might personally offend such a being.*
So... Death, huh? Like... THE Death or just A Death? I mean, the multiverse apparently being what it is, I feel like there's a distinction to be made there.
*A moment later, my head swiveled towards the indicated shadow with trepidation.*
<Snipped quote by Shadow Dragon>
*It was a good thing I was fairly numb to the concept of self-preservation presently, because otherwise my poker face might not have held in the face of the utterly noxious, seething scent of blood that billowed off of the newcomer's soul and battered my senses, even through Alna's aura. At this point, I was starting to wonder if I might have just stumbled into being the "noble general" of some evil overlord type. Between the skeleton's obvious charisma and power, the unstable but loyal cutie as his maybe right hand, and the probably "hyper competent" assassin general now showing up, I was starting to see a potential pattern developing before my genre savvy senses. Just my luck.*
Ah... Yes, a pleasure. Sorry, I'm a bit out of my depth right now, I think.
<Snipped quote by Uncle Death>
*Honestly, my own neck probably should have been getting sore from how much I kept having my attention snapped in different directions. I watched relatively impassively, as Alna conversed with... another skeleton.*

<Snipped quote by Uncle Death>
*I shrugged in turn.*
Eh, you're not wrong. I've not really participated much in holidays in recent memory. The Apocalypse tends to be something of a mood-killer... as does the existential dread of multiverse-ganking space-whales.
<Snipped quote by Dark Cloud>
It was a decent trade.
