There was a lot to take in as they made their way through the woods, about Lord Yggdrasil who lived inside the trees, of the human currencies that you could get by swapping things for, doing jobs or for adventuring. The first sounded like something she could do if she found some good plants, the last sounded fun because who wouldn't want to go go exploring and get paid to do so. There was probably more too it than that however.
Then there were the gods, and there were apparently quite a few of them. The two he had mentioned earlier where apparently the gods of creation and god of extremes. She understood why it might be worrying that the were given gifts by the seconds, as she seemed like quite the self destructive goddess with embodying two opposite things that fought against each other constantly. The other smaller gods were also interesting, she wondered what a goddess of doorways was supposed to do though.
Golden eyes tried to get information about the Chief's accomplishments that led to his evolution but it was at that point they arrived and that line of questioning was dismissed like it had when she asked it.
While she had been listening intently to the explanation of the world's pantheon and other topics she had also been doing a bit of foraging and the young goblin was as a result now sporting quite the colorful set of additions to the outfit she had woken up in. Mostly this consisted of smattering of mundane if colorful flowers but it also contained some blueberries, doc leaves and some hemp, which she was aware had lots of use but wasn’t sure what any of them were yet. Finally there was the oddest thing she had learned with her power from chowing on a rather abundant small white flower, and that was that you could make rings out of them. So she did.
The now proud wearer of a daisy crown exited the woods with the others and was rather confused by the sight of the scaled goblin and the pink skinned thing that might be a human squaring off and then casting some kind of magic. It looked like they were about to fight but they were also talking as if they knew each other. Was it a sparring match? She hoped it was because the newborns did not have any way of defending themselves if it wasn’t. She carefully placed herself behind the chief, hoping he could protect them.
@Hellis can I make her a much less impotent part of the hoard, like one of the leaders many children or just a random mook and keep the rest of the general idea?
level: 4 day/time: day 2 - morning Location: Platform City - Tetris Castle Gardens -> the streets Interacting with: @Holy SoldierCloud, anyone in shouting distance
She followed the cat thief, or more specifically the Lumas who were doing much better at sticking close despite the tricks the ninja was pulling off, throwing smoke bombs and climbing the wall in a flash. To Naija with her wings this caused no issue as she continued to track him, shouting to tell the others where he was going. She was probably being quite annoying, giving away their position like that, which resulted in his reaction. The thief began parcouring all over the place and then launching himself at the Mithalan, snatching her winged armor off of her like she had done to the Valkyrie in some kind of possibly ironic but definitely very literal karma.
For a moment it was if Naija was suspended in the air, floating there while she failed to comprehend what happened. Then she and the universe realized her predicament and the girl began to plummet towards the ground screaming with rage and fear. Her hands were engulfed in flames as she hurled a stream of energy shots at the cat, but the slow moving projectiles just ended up leaving scorch marks on the wall of the building the thief was running across. Her plumet came to a slow halt as the Lumas caught her, slowing her fall from a death spiral to a gentle descent and then plopped her to the ground. They had lost the thief. They had lost mario because of her. Again.
The turned and snarled at whatever growling thing had tried to sneak up on her, her hands flaring with energy again as she sat crouched on the ground, ready to incinerate whatever it was. Fortunately she recognised it as the spiky haired human who had been with Guile at the funeral. He was sitting on some kind of weird metal purring thing, mounting it like a seahorse. He called to her:
“Are you alright?”
”I. Yes, yes, I’m ok.” She turns to the Lumas briefly ”Thank You, for saving me.”
She then wall jumps up the building to continue the pursuit, but the thief is long gone as she looks across the bustling city. It’s quite the sight for the little fish girl, so many different kinds of people going about their day. She stares for a moment, then shakes her head and hops back down to the street to where cloud is.
”We lost him and I lost my wings… I don't suppose I can have a lift while we search for the theif?” she indicates to the metal mount, hoping for a ride on the strange contraption.
Race: Goblin Age: 22 Former Profession: Barbarian warrior Skill: Winning David vs Goliath fights, which for her is basically every fight
Personality:
She has a sort of unstoppable personalty in place of actual charisma, she is fierce, bold, cock sure, completely willing to fight dirty and acts like she is the biggest and meanest thing around no matter who or what she is facing. She has an in your face attitude despite actually being at your knees, knees from which you shall soon be parting ways with. Her manner of speech is rather antiquated as a result of her little trip, which clashes a lot with her demeanor, speaking like she is out of a Shakespearian play put on by stereotypical scotsmen while trying to rip someones head of.
History:
Long ago in a distant land there rose a furious goblin horde the likes of which had never been seen, it swept across the land till it reached the city of Kings Knell. At its head was Goblinhis Khan, a mighty barbarian warlord and one of the keystones that held the bickering goblins together with his inspiring presence and sheer bloodymindedness. But when the goblins needed her most he vanished, for in the final battle to take the city a sorcerer of the defenders tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future. However the spell missed a bit and so only sent about half of the warlord into the past. Who was sent in the past intact was one of the may offspring he had sired who just happened to be next to him at the time, a young goblin named Rita.
Years in the future a screeching goblin appeared one night in a tavern along with half a corpse and descended upon the patrons with a furious rage caused by the death of her father. About an hour later the City guard, who had arrived about 40 minutes earlier and had waited till the fighting died down, went in to arrest anyone who had survived what was essentially a regular bar fight round these parts. Inside the found a now very drunk tiny goblin woman wielding a warhammer way to big for her standing in the middle of a thoroughly trashed tavern bawling her eyes out. It was rather fortunate that some of the Guards where goblins because she didn’t immediately try to assail them and instead was contrived to discuss the situation, something she had never been that good at.
After a lot of explaining she eventually calmed down and was taken to the goblin area of town where they tried to work out what to do with her. It was like if a Viking had suddenly showed up in modern Sweden, just what did they do with this relic of the past, particularly when she was wanted for the deaths of quite a few members of various gangs in that fight. Especially when she is riling up a lot of the younger ones to take up arms against the city and go marauding again. In the end she was convinced that it would be best if she took the pardon from the guard and that the old days were over. She has since then made quite the transformation, physically at least, to a relatively respectable looking Guard's women, though she is still a berserker at heart. Her main concern however was to return to the past and undo the future that had resulted from her fathers death. or at the very least smash the sorcerer to bloody pieces personal.
She has gotten a bit used to the city, so she doesn't quite feel like a fish out of water anymore, if she does find something she doesn't understand the best course of action is to thwack it till it makes sense. She has gained this kind of grudging respect from the goblin community as someone who really has no place in their new culture yet who stands for them first and foremost with a strength that cannot be questioned. A useful and rather easily manipulated tool for furthering their interests when a bit of brute force is required and you can't just pay some orks to do it.
@Lugubrious I think i figured out where the confusion is from, this is the front page vs the our pm Grants forbidden insight if the red is consumed VS Consuming the red pill grants passive reality alteration, changing things bit by bit to suit the pill-taker. It can be best summarizes as a big increase to overall durability and huge increase to luck; everything will seem to go the taker's way, or at least be very convenient.
so I think you flipped the colors of the pills in one of the post because the intro's blue pill( limited consequence dismissal ) sounds a lot more like what you sent me in the pm. This might have been a result of me changing color while you where writing that pm or something idk.
Her first question got more of a “I can tell you later” kind of answer but considering she had effectively asked about their life history she supposed that was fair when there were so many other questions to be answered. The question about parents got some much more useful info, that apparently the goblins went for the whole “it takes a village to raise a child” strategy of parenthood. Well apart from the chief who, considering how much he talked about his son, probably had a much more personal familial relationship with him. She wasn’t sure if that was sweet or hypocritical. She perked up a little because if the village was her family and the chief seems to like her and the rest then that was going to reflect well on the rest of the villagers and then everyone would like her and that was good. She smiled to herself as result of coming up with that wonderful line of logic.
The information about the surroundings had been very useful although she was probably more interested in the fact they were in a forest than most of the other goblins, because a forest meant lots of plants to stick in her mouth. Speaking of which, after a few questions about books and private spaces it became clear that there was going to be a little expedition out through the woods too the town of these human things for books, which she wasn’t that interested in, and tools, which might be useful for harvesting plants. She decided she would go with the chief because going to the forests edge also met going through the forest which had plants which she could collect data on. She was also buzzing with energy and wanted to be out and about, learning how to navigate the woods rather than stuck with Aya the grump in the camp. If the town didn’t look interesting she could always go back with the chief. She jog/skipped after the chief, excited to get outside into the sunshine.
"I’ll come to town for the tools and to find some plants to use my gift on."
As she tried to keep up with his longer strides she realized that during answering knife ear's first question he had mentioned two names without much additional explanation who might have had something to do with their gifts.
"So boss, you mentioned these Knoth and Anekanta divine people. Who are they and what makes one bad and one good?"
@Lugubrious I think I may have misinterpreted what the red pills forbidden insight means, I had assumed it would be something like the captain's sleep vision but looking at the wording again that seems like the wrong interpretation. well, only one way to find out what it actually means, so I suppose we shall find that out in the morning.
By the way this rp has been great so far and I am looking forward to the pvp writing contest segment, it should be interesting. Keep up the good work.
