| LOCATION: North-Central Pennslyvania. | SIZE: 68mi² | POPULATION: 95, 634 |




Araminta, Pennslyvania is a small city set in Williams county, it's in the northern-centermost part of the state. It's merely a stone's throw away from New York state. In the 1700's a man named Richard Williams discovered the land that would be called Araminta. He mapped it out, brought his people there, and eventually named it Araminta after his beloved daughter. It functioned as a military base during the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary war - afterward the base was defunct and is now a tourist attraction. The city's main claim to fame is its railroad system, Araminta's railroad system is the nexus of various railroads in Pennsylvania that connect it to other cities. However, many of them have been retired, and you can barely walk a few blocks without stepping over some railroads. The city has a large train yard that is the hideout for various dredges and degenerates.

Araminta is a suburban city first and foremost - the most urban part of the city is its downtown area. That isn't to say that there aren't businesses every stone's throw away for everyone to get their decorations. The city is full of very nice houses that people flock to if they want to escape the droning city life, whether they are retired or not. Araminta is known for its very nice houses, but the whole city isn't kittens and sunshine. Like the rest of Pennsylvania, Araminta has a heavy drug problem. They flock to the more decrepit areas of Araminta, but those houses may look nice but the people inside of them are not perfect. A large portion of Araminta's city limits is woodlands and inside of those woods are the more remote houses and areas. The train tracks in the woods are known for being the hangouts for drug addicts and other misfits of Araminta. However, the woods contain many secrets.

Araminta isn't an extremely urban city. As stated before it's primarily suburban houses and woodlands, but it's right next to the Williams River. A massive river that was also named after the founder of the city that breaks off from the Schuylkill and Delaware River. As far as demographics go, Caucasians are the primary sight in Araminta with Asians and African-Americans being the second most common sight. Hispanics, Middle-Easterners, and Pacific Islanders are a very rare sight in Araminta.

Despite the drug problem crime is relatively low. Most arrests are for petty crimes and being caught with drugs and murders were few and in between. However, lately, the town has been changing.

The story centers around the Extra-Normal, an umbrella term for strange and magical beings that are derived from a mysterious magical spectrum of light. These beings are either humans that have an emotional connection to light that they derive magic from, have opened their mind to the universe to gain powers, is a being formed out of belief or are a remnant of the past, or have been cursed by the other beings. Each of the Extra-Normal has abilities of some sort that are inherent to them all.

Known as Extra-Normal Abilities; these beings have a wide array of abilities that come naturally to them. The first of these abilities is the power to see the unseeable or the opening of the "third eye". Anything Extra-Normal or related is completely invisible to those without it and the most basic Extra-Normal ability is the power to perceive it. They can see flames that would otherwise be invisible and monsters that shouldn't be seen. Of course, certain abilities trump this extra sense. Also, the Extra-Normal has a higher sensitivity to the strange, meaning that they can sense when something that doesn't belong in their world is nearby. However, it appears as a feeling in their skull that draws them to a particular direction. Feeling stronger the closer the being is. The secondary ability is a connection to all other extra-normal beings, a mental link that allows them to communicate with each other telepathically. This mental link can only work with people who have a connection with each other - even the smallest connection can allow them to communicate mentally. However, the stronger the bond, whether positive or negative, allows them to communicate from a further distance. At minimum Extra-normal beings can communicate with each other at a range of around sixteen feet. Depending on the bound, it's possible to communicate with another person from the other side of the planet (and it's even possible to do it through different worlds). However, these Extra-Normal beings are capable of communicating telepathically with those who are not Extra-Normal by having a powerful enough connection to them.

Certain Extra-Normal beings have unlocked the potential for reading "Aura". They are all connected to the world on a completely different level than anyone else, and can thus, perceive through their mind. However, what exactly they can sense is dependant on their personality, as, like their abstraction, reflects the user. Such as a kind person may be able to see the Auras of people in pain or are injured, or a greedy person may be able to sense money in the vicinity. Through this aura reading ability, the Extra-Normal beings can sense that object or person through walls, and over long distances. Some Aura reading is capable of gathering specific information. Though, some aura sensing requires activation. No one aura reading ability is the same (There are even some aberrations within aura reading).

Another ability inherent to the extra-normal is the ability to see into the past as if they were there. Triggered by being in a certain place, encountering a relevant person or object, or being in a moment of stress, an extra-normal being may receive a flashback into the past. Better known as Retrocognition, the Awakened will be a third party in this flashback and will be able to move around in a limited capacity as they watch the scene unfold. After the memory has faded, the Extra-Normal being will be thrust back into the real world with a minimal amount of time passed. Also, an Extra-Normal being may experience these moments while sleeping.

A peculiar aspect of Extra-Normal beings is their reaction to being in the presence of a Nexus Point. If an Extra-Normal being is within five miles of a Nexus point all of their abilities will be enhanced in one way or another. Their limits are broken, and they have access to abilities they normally don't have access to. Such as a telepath may be able to dominate the minds of people around them, and telekinetic can lift and throw a car. The presence of the mountain also enhances retrocognitive abilities, but it has an opposite effect depending on the distance. Once they get away from the Nexus Point their powers will revert to normal.

However, these all are just sub-abilities. Every true extra-normal being has an ability known as an Abstraction that is unique to them. Depending on their type it's either linked to their emotions and personality, the emotions passed down to them, belief, or an oddity among the classifications. However, each of the Extra-Normal beings is resistant to the abilities of each other. For example, mind control is more or less ineffective against them or they wouldn't be burned as badly by extra-normal fire.

This has begun a whole new slew of problems linked to another world known as the Outside that is a twisted version of Araminta and inside of it lies the Witch, a being that seems to be the root of this. However, a group of Extra-Normal individuals has teamed up to stop the Witch.


OVERVIEW


Welcome to Recollections: The Fourth Seal. The first spin-off (and sort of sequel) to Vivid Recollections and the second RP in the Recollections Universe. As the opening paragraph explained, it takes place in Araminta Pennslyvania, a nice quaint city that normally has nothing special. However, everything is not what it seems. The supernatural has touched this town and strange occurrences are appearing all over Araminta as the lines between normal and the supernatural become one and the same. The main focus of the RP will be a group of magical individuals known as Adepts, people who have an ancient supernatural connection passed down to them from a different world. They discovered their ability to use supernatural abilities through objects that they have a connection to and have been gathered by an individual who wants to save Araminta from an otherworldly force known as The Witch. It will not just be Adepts, but also other types of supernatural beings who want to stop the Witch.

This story will be an urban-fantasy story that will cast a certain light on "magic", while leaving it ambiguous whether or not it's truly magic or not. The storyline will have elements of superpowers, horror, and more - but the story will be a very dark cosmic horror story. The central theme of the RP will be Family, and their effects on the characters. Either the loss of a loved one or how far they're willing to go to protect them from the coming storm. Whatever the case, the cast's family will have a huge part of their character and development either in a positive or negative way. It will feature themes of exploring other worlds, and different versions of characters, but like Vivid Recollections, it's secondary themes will be Memory and Emotion.

The New Yorker kept her mouth shut as the group seemed to lean towards Ascension. Lynette was not opposed to the idea at all and, honestly, if there weren't a few variables that Penny seemed to be missing herself. However, the reason why Lynette wanted to seek guidance from the people who sealed the Glutton in the past was that they would know more about this than they would. Then again... Penny wasn't completely wrong in her line of thought.

"It seems you have chosen Ascension," The Hound ominously said as he looked around. Justin crossed his arms as he resigned as he realized he's been outvoted. "However, Ascension comes with a price... a price few are willing to pay."

"What is it?" Lynette asked.

"When you enter the Mountain, you all must journey to its very core... it is where the heart of the Nexus point is and where the Godforce is the strongest," The Hound started. "As you all are aware, the Godforce is the accumulation of all emotions, memories, thoughts, past, and present. As you venture close to its core, you will begin to experience countless memories."

"Whose?"

"Everyone's." The Hound said. "Your memories will repeat, you will experience memories of events about you, you will see memories of other Awakened... and you could encounter phantasms of the deceased. The lines between you all will blur, as you experience these recollections. I have to warn you that, even if your minds can handle it and are not destroyed, you will reach a point where you cannot tell your memories from someone else's."

That made Lynette raise her eyebrow. This... was a lot to handle. However, the world was at risk. Risk of being devoured by a being that they couldn't even understand let alone stop conventionally. Even if this is not a story told, she wanted to pave the way for new stories. However, she had a question.

"You said that the process will destroy minds if we cannot handle the onslaught of memories..." Lynette trailed off, "Is there a way to fix them if that happens?"

"There is... but that too comes with a price."

"... Like everything these days." Justin sarcastically said with a roll of his eyes.

"Similiar to finding the Wielders of the White Light, you would have to go to the center of the mountain and connect your mind to the Godforce but instead you must wade through it for your friend's memories and place it back together. However, you would have to do this correctly to have your friend back... and you may be lost to the Godforce yourself. This is why I advise against it and merely dispose of anyone whose mind is broken before they fuel the Glutton any further. As we cannot expend the resources."

The Hound explained and everyone was silent. The Hound closed its eyes as it said,

"This is the price of Ascension, does everyone understand what they need to do? The sacrifices that need to be made?"

"... What if we just blow the fucking mountain up?" Sharon suggested. "It'd skip all these stupid games and we won't have to sacrifice nobody!"

The Hound shook its head. "I'm afraid that's not an option. If we destroy the Mountain, the seals may go with it and it may release the Glutton. And, without a being on the level as The Father, we wouldn't be able to seal it back."
