I love being a terrible person by making my PCs' lives miserable, it's art form that never gets old or boring.

@Fallenreaper Naw, Ruby's right around the same level as Iron, although she is significantly more... murder-ey.

Which killing would disqualify her, lol. Although Iron does have a were coyote form but I'm not using currently.

@Fallenreaper I know the name of your mentor, Tearstone. I have either fought him or had discussions with him. Getting so old names are like fleeting memories. Anyway your character is a nice bit of realistic (for the most part). I don't think you'll have too hard a problem finding opponents as realistic is always a good bit of fun. It brings an edge to your writing if you can do realistic well.

**** Melon is correct (below) posting a general idea of strength and speed helps. Also bladed weapons up close and personal makes for very nasty, very fast fights. It doesn't take much to kill with a karambit, a quick step inside, a slash across the inside of the arm, up and across the throat from there. Followed by a heel trip and you are off. Nasty bit of deadly.

That's comforting to know, especially since I know Lyzan spoke highly of you, Glint, Rilla and few others. He even mentioned Melonhead had potential really. And yes, I read that match between Glint's Arcana and Xeelov which as an exercise, Lyzan asked me questions of what I would do if I was playing Xeelov at key intervenes. I managed to come up with moves he hadn't considered though he pointed out the possible flaws in them like Aracna being able to push or an exposure of a weak spot. Sadly that has been a long time ago.... I still have the notes though.

Returning to Tearstone, he's still around. Merely just jingle him and I'm sure you could coax him into a match. My only request is you send me the link!

Bit referring to Melonhead: see answer to Melon. Higher Tier pcs are easier to state strengths and speeds for but also harder to keep within those expectations when in competition. Namely due to paranoia on my part.

I've seen several YouTube vids over the use of the weapon and understand that but it's also possible to defend against it, disarm, or cripple with it. So I've got a sense of the speed and control required. However I'm also aware I won't be accurate the first fight which why I encourage other arena observers to point out problems, flaws, possibilities and overall help me improve my ability with information. This might also allow others who are lurking to see how arena vets and other combats handle the teaching of a newbie.

@Fallenreaper In regards to Iron it's not that big a deal but stating your character's physical characteristics are 'human' isn't very specific. It essentially means 'human average' which isn't very representative of an obviously physically fit human. There's also a pretty huge range of strengths and speeds that humans are capable of.

Plus in lower tier battles you tend to have a triangle of skill strength and speed, with one of the three being sacrificed for the others for balance reasons. Just because it's highly unlikely any two humans will match each other in strength and speed.

As your character is wiry they would probably favour speed a little over physical strength.

I had considered that to be honest but actually finding an accurate source for either speed or strength reference on the net isn't easy and there's so much conflicting information, it's hard to guess what's plausible or not. If you have suggestions, an estimate within human range for his stature and size, I would appreciate it. Though actually his stats went in order that strength was high because it feels right for the PC. I know it sounds strange but I've actually played, and likely will again when the hiatus is over, him before in a pm rp. His speed slower because of that by default and I wasn't sure how go about that honestly due to lacking information.
Finally finished, here's hoping Iron's CS meets expectations or at least passable. Any suggestions, required information, or additions to the CS would be taken into consideration and appreciated. He's fairly simple with not a whole lot of fancy stuff which I thought was ideal for starting out. It's been a while since I actually made one of these so I might've lost my groove a bit. Also, I had to have some help with the Kali bit from a friend's own experience and knowledge in the art. I have read up a bit on, got some vids for reference and likely will attempt to mimic it, though I have little idea how well I'm going to do as a fair warning to anyone interested. >_>

Finally... had fun making the challenge request though I'm beginning to think he's seriously under powered compared to everyone else. XD

I'll be writing all match requirements for each Character independently right here. New characters, challenges, and more will be added into this post which I will make a mention in the OoC of this thread.

Power Level: Non Powered/ Realistic
Arena Type: I rather start off with one that has low or no magical abilities for my first few matches then gradually build up to them as I gain experience
Character or Characters Available/Involved:

Victory Requirements: Let’s make this interested- Disarm Opponent or Disqualification
Disqualification: Moves resulting in a kill, or Forfeit
Wager: N/A
Stipulation:
IC
  • Be patient:I’m using a style I’m not familiar with so I'm learning the fundamentals of it as I'm battling and I'm rusty as hell. So I will make mistakes unintentionally.
  • Learning experience: I'm not familiar with the fighting style so I'm bound to overestimate human limits or how the style works, so if you spot it then point it out and explain why. Especially if you're familiar with the fighting style then allow for edits should they be needed.

OOC
  • Novice: this is a learning experience for me so feel to make suggestions, point out my options for counters or attack, and even explain in some depth the possible pros and cons of each one. Getting me to think and increase my knowledge of the arena physics is a good thing!
  • Real=Bitch sometimes: real life happens and there's little we can do about it, so I'll wait up to two weeks (Ooc or IC) and a day for a reply. However if you are aware you will be gone for an extended period of time or even having writer's block, let me know. Then we can put the match on hold for a time. I will return the favor best I can.
  • Questions are good: I have a habit, when I'm really focused and excited, to ask questions about a post, moves, or even the arena/subject the rp is based in. A lot of them. So don't feel like I'm trying to toss of your focus or rattle you, namely I'm trying to extend my understanding and knowledge of this rp so any information or honest answer you're willing to share is appreciated.

Addition Information:

The request of teaching can go for any of the following: My partner, observers as long as they ask as well as provide helpful/polite information, or the Judge (if there is one). Any little information is welcomed as I can use it to reference later for future matches. I hope this doesn't seem too demanding. Other suggestions, requests which don't conflict with the established ones I'm open to considering.

To all future opponents, thank you for your time and consideration.

Xid

So much was rattling around in Xid’s head. Around and around it went, like the water down the primal drain as it failed to wash his conflict away. The temperature was lukewarm but his body was flustered in heat, his embarrassment all too clear on his features while he tried to hide it. His forehead pressed hard against the clear, red tinted glass and stared downward in thought. His eyes too on a hazy, unfocused look. Lost in the worst place possible: his head, his past. Confusion, an emotion he had dealt with, pounded in his mind as badly as the nightmares which jarred him awake. Sometimes his ears filled with his own screaming from the haunting memories causing him to curl up into a cold, shivering ball. Even he was amazed he managed to pass the trials on the first time even if was barely.

The Empire’s trooper’s image flashed in his mind and Xid flinched. Questions, frighteningly real and serious, surfaced into his attention against his will. They were answers he never wanted to consider, especially now, while he bit his bottom lip. His eyes sealed tightly and arms pressed to defensively wrap about himself from them. Of course, it didn’t since it was a fictional and childish gesture on his part, a habit best forgotten.

Are we really that much alike? Under it all, was he really just like me once...until they changed him?

A sourness budded at his throat and threatened to hurl forth, his hand raised to cover his mouth in fear. Slowly he inhaled. His eyes tighter, his fingers loosening, and finally began to incite the Jedi code. He knew it very well and in the past, it always inspired him to follow the path he was given. The last part was the most empowering, even to the padawans and knights, to know in some small way they all would remain connected.

Quietly, Xid whispered the words for strength. “There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death… there is the Force.”

At the last words, Xid’s eyes snapped open. He let his lips fall into a weak smile then finished washing away the sweat and grime that have collected. His hand turned to shut off the last of the water and stepped out to retrieve a towel to wrap about his pelvis. The knight’s eyes lingered upon Lea’s outer robes held in his hand. His mind noting the feminine appearance as well as the fact it smelt like her, placing it to side so he could dry off and dress. Garbed in Lea’s robe, he had begun to pad to the main room with the towel flopped over his curly mess for hair. His hands were rubbing furiously, tugging some of his roots in the process, when he sensed a presence before him.

His blue eyes lifted to acknowledge her and immediately became aware of his dress state, wondering if his face was about to turn completely red again. Naturally it was. It was the knight from before, the woman hauled in by the troopers and merely dumped like an unwanted droid. Xid’s heart trembled in pain at recalling his own droid, possibly lost forever through destruction or worse. The Sith wouldn’t have bothered to salvage Navi after all. At her question, Xid tried to pass off his discomfort. “It wasn’t my idea, honest! Arix, the padawan that was in here earlier, pulled me in and I slipped over the wet floor. My robes got soaked and well… It was either I used hers or…”

He purposely trailed off with his sentence. It would’ve been perfectly clear what he was about to say as his hand raised, scratching his neck some.
Yes. Thank you.

That was what I assumed, but one of the Rules said all PCs must be force-sensitive, I wondered if this was an exception but figured I was better safe than sorry. Appreciate the insight.

I'll read the CSs, the Summary, and recent IC/OOC postings. Anything else critical for basic joining? If not I'll afterward see what I can make.

I just happened to see this and noticed Elri's comment. If you are super desperate for a connection to one of the prisoners there are more than a few war veterans so just ask. The reason I'm speaking up is because I came in a little late and my character happens to be a War vet if you felt the need to have a connection to one of the prisoners

This is very much encouraged by GMs.
Things like range of manipulation and some of the more important technicalities are more than enough detail most of the time.

There's thinking outside the box in combat, and then there's having a character who can manipulate fire as their only ability then saying they can set the air around your character on fire from fifty feet away by clicking their fingers, instantly incinerating you. If all I say is 'Fire manipulation' what's stopping me from doing that exactly? Seems like it falls under that general sphere to me. That's why you have to be specific, because otherwise there's nothing regulating your magic at all, and half of all magic has the capacity to kill people instantly. Water manipulation with no restrictions - tear someone apart, control their body, burst every blood vessel, all possible.

Fire, burn the air in their lungs, air, suck the air out of their lungs, earth, break their bones apart or open a hole directly underneath them breaking them to pieces. All of this fits under general terms for elemental manipulation.

It's not thinking outside the box if you just have powers that kill people instantly.

Isn't spells with auto kills/hits already unaccepted within the arena?

My main point was that creating a spell to cover everything in a fight isn't possible, though I admit to rambling off topic I guess.

*Sage nod*

Don't leave vague generalities or space for interpretation in your CS, it will lead to arguments later on. State statistics if necessary, or just be as clear as possible as to anything your character can do beyond human capability, which is the assumed average for anything not stated (or required, for example having strong bones if your character has superhuman strength is pretty much a necessity in physics terms.)

You can use terms such as mid level or low level manipulation of an element, but you'd be expected to keep to that level by whoever you pick as a judge for ranked matches, so you're at the mercy of someone else' interpretation of your abilities.

Sorry this took me so long to get to, I'm a bit slow. Now:

I can't see someone who's Versatile enough would be able to cover literally everything possible. Mostly because the human mind is adaptable and there are those who think outside the box in combat, increasing the difficulty to be able to do that perfectly. However I do understand the frustration behind this and in my case, I usually use a Versatility vs Power system for my PCs. More Versatile than less Power it should have as that energy has to be loose enough to warp and change, while a fixed spell would be more powerful due to being more focused and putting more energy into that single task.

It's like multitasking in a sense, and though some can do that, some quality (power) and never truly realize or see it, is lost in the process to some degree than if you had put all your energy into a single task. Then again, that's just my line of thinking.

Here's an example of that system in rp PC of mine,Darius. Namely his Telekinesis ability.

Granted there's still quite a few limits not mentioned but that can become taxing and specific to include every, single, last one in the spell description. So even when I don't have them listed, there's always limits as well as new ones being added when I think of them or come up with a new way of using a spell. Ask a few friends... I'm an OP phobic. :p

Then again, this might just be a bad example of a spell format though to be honest I like pretty well. Namely because it states the important stuff that influences a battle though I will likely add a post charge requirement as well for fighting style common. AT least the one I'm semi familiar with, though with some spells tempted to allow them to played right but need a cool down period before they can be used again. Kestrel had that in his Library rp and it was rather fun and simple. XD

Also, finally got Iron done but now sure if the CS would be suitable by arena standards. >_> Hence why he's not posted as I'm fretting over it.
Yeah, not entirely sure what Icon should be doing now

He could stand there and look pretty for once?
Yes. Thank you.

Yes, the Player Characters, or Mains, have to be Force users because of the rp's theme of exploring the Sith and Jedi elements during this era. While I understand it's doable without a force user, it's not easy to hook in and keep PCs that aren't directly tied to and heavily affected by those fractions in the story. If the Sith attempted to capture a none Force PC, there's not likely to be a plausible excuse to why the Sith just won't kill them while Jedi are useful and possibly turnable as long as they aren't masters. Which you see, need special permission.

I hope this doesn't discourage your interest as we've got a strong, fun bunch of players in this rp. We're always eager to have new additions to the group after all.
