The Narrow Path

As you step over the books and such, you find yourself stepping on a book titled "On the Species: The Believer". It's obviously an old book, written ages ago by some gnome known as Irthorne, but it might be helpful to you in your quest. However, the button in front of you is more concerning. The light cast by the fireball is shown on the button, highlighting the small needlelike object in the hole. Perhaps it's supposed to draw the blood of the presser in order to open the gate.

Either way, someone's gotta put their hand in there, or you are stuck.

The Narrow Path

Despite the darkness of the hole, you are able to see within it what looks like a button. Or at least, what you think is a button. A suspicious hole sits in the middle of the button, however, you cannot do anything with that hole. You're barely able to see the button as it is.

"What do you need help with?" Hikado asked in his reverb-filled voice. He seemed like he was still filled with childlike despite being what he was.

Bonesword - Getting Serious

Bonesword hit the deck as he dodged the trident strike just barely, his voice waiving as he watched the man-beast in front of him shift into a far more concerning form. Caesar was livid, and the situation was going south quickly for the Red Rum pirates, it would seem.

Thankfully, Dirk was there behind Bonesword. "Dirk. Get on that wheel and act like another torpedo is coming. DODGE THE TORPEDO DIRK!" Perhaps playing along to Dirk's quirks would get him to do something quicker?

Bonesword raced back up to his feet as he ran forward with his Shroomblade, holding it tightly in both hands as he screamed again. "KOJO KOJO COMBO!"

Vines sprouted from the deck under Bonesword's feet, lifting him up into the skies and allowing him to start attacking the giant spidery demon in front of him from above. Simultaneously, the Shroomblade's blade was extended with sharpened grass, allowing it to become even larger than normal, at least twice Bonesword's height. The vine that carried Bonesword into the air gripped his ankles, keeping him on path as the Mushroom Kid brought his sword down towards Saban's head, aiming to cut it off.

The fight seemed to accelerate as Xoxi watched on in anger, waiting for that perfect moment to strike. Then the copies began to swarm through the street, attacking every hero and civilian that they could. Xoxi simply stared at the oncoming fighters before her psychic hands went into what could be imagined as their "autopilot," simply tearing through the clones as Xoxi moved forward slowly through the crowd, heading towards the small sliver of Dian that she could see. From the few seconds before the clones appeared, Xoxi managed to see what some of Dian's capabilities were, and they involved mending and construing bone into demonic creations.

Unfortunately for Dian, Xoxi's hands didn't have a real bone structure to them. They were just ethereal hands.

... and they wanted a taste of something. Not just revenge, no. They wanted to taste blood.

A gunshot sounded as Xoxi began chasing after Dian, however Xoxi remained unphased by it. It was like she had tunnel vision at this point, what was once a free-spirited and quirky girl was now replaced with an angry amputee, and this one was a lot more capable than most.

"High above, please let nothing stand in my way."

"ABILITIES?!"

That was a nice joke, Judah. "I wouldn't really call mine an 'ability', more or less it's a curse," Farce commented before walking over to the other two and joining the conversation. "This guy wants to recruit you to fight crime with us. If you heard about that thing in the news recently about a Community operation being busted by like... four people, I think, that was us." Farce was being real. She didn't reveal anything about WHO they were, just what they did. Maybe to get this girl more set on being recruited.

"Our third and last member is around here somewhere. I told him to get coffee or something." Farce had the sudden realization at that moment. "Do you think he got coffee for everyone or just himself?"

"I'm on it!" Kyoshi grabbed her actual costume and everything she needed as she prepared for the mission. Was it going to be fun? Likely not, but it gave her practice with her powers. Maybe it'd help her think of a better cape alias than Kyoshi, too. G4M3R talked about copyright issues and how her cape name could get the team in some trouble, so maybe it was better for her to change Kyoshi into something else. Unfortunately, her only ideas were still akin to the Earth Kingdom, so that might need to be thought on a bit more.

Anomaly climbed out of the VTOL, her free hand helping her by lifting her up as she wiggled out. A bit of it collapsed over her, stupidly, but she was unharmed. Mostly. She stubbed her toe on the way out, so there was that.

Holy shit did she miss a second or two. There was this titanium man on the ground over there, Sickle was giving speeches, and Knight was yelling swears. Alright, this is... different.

The speech did make Anomaly question a few things. Was she really a hero? The answer there was easy. Sort-of. She hadn't really done anything yet for her to earn the title of a "hero", but at the same time she was needed to evoke hope in the people. She needed to be the hope given to the masses in order to keep them enthusiastic about actions and efforts to protect them. She needed to do all this armless, but that was besides the point. Anomaly, Knight, Septima, Gestalt, hell, everyone in the Protectorate was there to evoke hope in the masses. Even if she could make one little boy or girl fall asleep at night without fear of big bads like Sickle wrecking their home, Anomaly's job was complete.

The teen walked over to behind Knight, her hands at her side and ready to defend her should the need arise. They could block shots well enough if she had to, but otherwise, she would be fine.
