Shit, 2-3 times a week is downright speedy compared to some people in this thing aka me it's me I'm slow as hell.

@Tsukai

This is pretty much accurate! We're gonna look at hopefully 1 a week or so! I don't like to put a bunch of pressure on my boys. :)

It definitely gave a great answer to my first question, which I didn't even fully expect to be answered hehe. So thank you! The second part I'm still a bit confused on. So, the whole Kaguya clan and Chakra Fruit stuff would still apply, but then they kinda fizzled away for an entire alternative history you made for the AU to work how you wanted? I don't expect any massive reveals ofc, just wondering if that's the basic jist of it. And if it is, are there any big events we should know about, culturally?

Another question that came to mind was: Custom jutsus/KG? Yay or nay?

Sorry for all the asking around. D:

Chakra fruit/Kaguya applies yes, but it probably won't be revealed/touched on IC. From there it bleeds off into an AU, where everything is different. Cultural events yes, there have been a few ninja wars (the most recent and ergo most relevant one ended 14 years ago; this is the one I'll be detailing the most in the beginning). Culturally, I'll have some more details come the OOC. I've dumped some stuff in the Discord, so if you can I do recommend joining that! :)

For custom jutsus and KG, I'll be allowing it on a case-by-case basis. I don't want anyone to be overwhelmingly OP or overwhelmingly underpowered.
yeah i also bought both expansions and am thoroughly enjoying the best Pokemon game in years
Sure why not

Cool! Happy to see all the interest.
Dormammu I've come to ba... ask questions.

So, my first question was something else but now I'm curious: When it says "claimed by GM" does that mean it's forbidden or is it gonna be used by GMs? Now that I typed out the question I feel like this question inevitably spoils but my curiosity is forbidding me from not asking anyways. ;c

But WAY more importantly: HOW exactly is this AU? I did read OP, of course, and my assumption is: Pre-Naruto-show lore remains but from there on it's our thing? 'cause even though I'm not an expert or anything on the show/manga, as far as I know the lore is pretty fundamentally tied to characters and certain events that kinda enable the whole world and mythos. So I just would like some clarification on that, if possible.

Hi!

In response to the first question, the kekkei genkai mentioned in the OP are the ones that we the GMs are utilizing for our characters. While they're not necessarily forbidden, you'd have to speak with the individual if you wanted to use them! i.e., if you wanted your character to have Sharingan, you'd have to discuss with me, since that's the one that I picked. Having said that, for the most part we're pretty open and will likely be able to work something out!

The second question is: it's an AU in the sense that I've pretty much changed everything. The only thing I'm planning on maintaining from the original lore is the Sage of Six Paths(even then it's so ancient it doesn't matter). Everything from then on has been changed and tweaked. I don't really like using canon characters and stuff like that, so I'm mostly trying to avoid it. I'll have a timeline of recent history up to look at when I make the OOC proper.

Hope that answers your questions alright :)
What's the general power level you're looking for at both the genin/chuniin and then timeskip points?

Similar to original naruto for first part, early/late Shippuden for later?

I love Naruto setting but the biggest problem I find is that often people at later game try to turn it into a giant powers dick measuring competition xD

*Usually* end up preferring to play genin as they struggle more and that's more fun.

As an rper I really look for character power balancing because it's more fun when it's fair. And I don't mean nerfing everyone I just mean having most people in the same ballpark so that things can be interesting and aren't obviously one-sided in a fight.

For the power level, that's a pretty accurate scale. In the exams, character power levels will be fairly similar to original Naruto, and then after our timeskip we'll look to be at early to mid Shippuden power levels (there's a longer timeskip here, so it makes sense that characters will have scaled up further). After that, it'll follow a similar scale to Shippuden, ending up on the stronger side.

We'll definitely be looking to have everyone be balanced and fairly even all the way along the scale, that I can assure you. It won't end up being about one or two main characters like Naruto ended up being.

If you want, feel free to join the discord to ask more questions and get quicker responses! :)

“To promote friendship among allied nations and raise the bar in the art of shinobi.”

This is the stated purpose of the chūnin exams, and it has always been clear.

Participants in the exams are genin, or junior ninja, from the various shinobi villages. During the exams, all shinobi skills are put to the test, starting with a written exam and leading up to the finals — consisting of one on one combat between the people who made it through the other stages of the exams. These fights are watched by all the land’s daimyos, who use them as a gauging point for which shinobi village is the strongest.

The stronger the village, the more likely the daimyos are to come to them for work. The more daimyos come to the villages for work, the more the villages the prosper. The chūnin exams and the genin from each village are fighting for the future of their villages, not just their own pride.

In reality, the stated purpose of the chūnin exams could not be further from the truth. They aren’t a way to promote friendship among allied nations. The ninja villages use the chūnin exams as a miniature war between the nations, to prove their might to the daimyos of each nation. The chūnin exams are a battle of life and death, because the strength of a nation is derived from the strength of its village, and the strength of a village is derived from the strength of a shinobi, and a shinobi’s greatest strength only emerges in the midst of a life-or-death battle.

“To preserve the balance of power at the risk of lives is the essence of friendship in the world of shinobi.”

Of course, this year’s chūnin exams are exceptionally important… there are rumblings of an organization of rogue shinobi being formed, and whichever nation looks the strongest at the chūnin exams, is sure to get the most work if there really is a ninja war on the horizon.

OOC Info:

This RP will take place in an alternate Naruto universe(essentially boiling down to no canon clans/characters will be involved), opening with the chūnin exams. All the player characters will be from Konoha, to make room for the twist planned. The twist is fairly simple; during the chūnin exams, the aforementioned ‘evil organization’ (who won’t be dissimilar to the Akatsuki) will attack.

After the attack, your characters will be faced with a choice:

They’ll have the opportunity to join the evil faction, or stay good and protect their villages. That choice will be up to you, and us GMs (@KZOMBI3 @Fabricant451 and myself) will be essentially GMing two separate factions, the group that went rogue, and the group that stayed with their villages.

Following the exams arc and the choice, there will be a 4-5 year long time skip, and the RP will pick up from there! I’m super excited for this and I hope it gathers a large amount of interest! If you have any questions, feel free to ask us.

Thank you for your interest!

Kekkei Genkai claimed by GMs:

  • Sharingan
  • Ketsuryūgan
  • Wood Release

Takashi was the first one awake in the Niijima residence, unless you counted the help. Most of those present in the Niijima residence did not count the help, and Takashi was certainly one of them. Why was the young man up so early? Simply put, he hated interacting with his family. He avoided it, practically, at all costs. He had a feeling they didn’t mind it either. He didn’t get along with them, or even anyone at the school…

Kashi was a lone lion. That was what he claimed, anyway, and that was the way he claimed to like it. He could have been driven to school, or taken one of the family’s expensive sports cars, but Kashi had a simpler approach to things: he liked to ride his bicycle. It kept him from having to ride with anyone, and it gave him a sense of independence, something he desperately needed.

Without taking a shower (he took one yesterday, why did he need to take another one?!), Kashi had slipped out of the house with time on his side. This early in the morning, there was no chance that anyone would see him and, ergo, no one would bother him. Pedaling his bike and leaving the massive estate behind, heading down the long, curvy driveway that stretched in front of the Niijima residence.

Heading through town, Kashi headed toward his usual spot. Most people that knew him would think that ‘the usual spot’ for him was somewhere he could loiter and pick fights, but they would be far from the truth. As he parked his bike in front of the usual spot, he did a quick glance around to make sure no one he knew was around, and then Kashi was able to sneak into his hidden spot…

A local bakery.

Takashi strolled up to the front counter with a secret smile on his face. Takashi had a reputation to uphold, and no one could know that this was his daily ritual. As far as everyone else knew — and this was by design, Kashi worked hard on his reputation, and it would shatter if they knew he came here. He rang the bell, and the little old couple behind the counter walked up to him and smiled in greeting, while Takashi lowered his head in a respectful bow. “How can I help?” He asked, and without much prompting, they put him to work.

People though Kashi’s body was honed from hours with expensive gym equipment home at the estate, but the reality was different. Most of it came from lifting heavy bags of flour and sugar, moving the day’s shipment of eggs, and helping to sort through other deliveries. Kashi liked to help, because the old couple had helped Kashi in the past. This lasted nearly an hour and a half before Kashi was getting ready to take off and finally head to school, with some fresh bread in his bag for breakfast — that was of course if the snacks he’d been munching on the whole time didn’t count as ‘breakfast.’ He was a growing young man! “Thank you. I’ll be back tomorrow when I can, okay? Don’t hurt yourselves trying to overdo it… What? Is something wrong?” As Kashi had spoken, the old woman had slowly lifted a hand up and pointed out the window. Kashi followed the finger pointing toward the window, and saw some of his schoolmates looking at his bike, and mumbling. Without another word, Kashi headed out the door.

“That’s Takashi Niijima’s bike, right? No way. What would he be doing, in a bakery like this? He eats kids, not sweets! We should pop the tires, maybe that would make us even for the las—”

“Ya idiots! What'd ya think you’re doing?” Kashi demanded, looking between the two other boys staring at his bike as he punched his palm. “Ya better not mess with my bike! It’s one of a kind.” The only things that made it ‘one of a kind,’ were a card stuck in the spoke (a card that had been drawn on and given to him by his youngest sister), and the addition of some flames that Kashi himself had painted on the frame.

They were not painted well.

“What are you doing here, man? This isn’t the kind of place someone like you should be at —”

“I’m getting something for my sister, ya dumbass! Ya have a problem with someone taking care of their sister? I’ll kick your ass!” Kashi threatened, punching his palm again. This threat was not empty, and it caused the other two boys to gulp, before turning tail and running away from him. “Yeah, ya better run, ya buncha lousy cowards! If I catch ya lookin’ at my bike, or messin’ around with the geezer or granny, I’ll kick your asses!” That was a threat that Kashi shouted often. There was, after all, only one person who’s ass he could not kick (two, if you counted Aki, and three if Zuzu wasn’t on his nerves — she often was).

Kashi undid the bike lock, and hopped on, pedaling toward the school. As he did so, he reached into the bag and pulled out some of the milk bread — which was absolutely not for his ungrateful sister(s). “Awesome! It’s still warm.” He said, stuffing some of it into his mouth. “I’ll have to try and get gramps to teach me this recipe…” Kashi spoke to himself with a mouthful, knowing full well he wasn’t going to get the recipe anytime soon. He wasn’t ready according to the old couple.

Normal students may have been worried about being late by then, but not people like Kashi or the fellow delinquents that had been looking at his bike. Those people had no problem filing into school later than late, without a care in the world. Truth be told, Takashi wasn’t looking forward to being back in school… School was such a drag.

“Oh yeah, Zuzu’s in charge of that stupid festival isn’t she?” Takashi grimaced as he remembered Izumi’s ramblings about how important the ceremony was. “Please, as if I care about this kind of thing. Better not be anyone tryin’ to get me to join any clubs!” Kashi grumbled, stuffing the last piece of bread in his mouth as he locked his bike up in front of Meadow Ridge. “I should have taken longer. Those bastards delayed me! I better not see them anywhere around here.” He muttered, finishing off the last of the bread from his bag, but sticking a hand in looking for more anyway — only to come up disappointed.

“I’m out already!? Dammit! What the hell?! Now I’m really itchin’ for a fight.” Kashi huffed, heading toward the sounds of the festival, locking his hands behind his head. “I shoulda skipped this whole thing, not just the welcoming ceremony…”
