Name: Kian Dresden

Appearance:

Kian always dons his winter coat over his shoulders. Much like above he adores that flimsy thing for some reason. Underneath his mask is a smooth jawline'd face, some called it good looks, and others haven't, who knows. His most stand out feature are his darkset, sharp orange eyes that seem to pierce right through you. His left eye has a scar that runs down from his eyebrow to his cheekbones, this is also his augmented eye which glows a dull white when in use, he tends to keep this eye closed when he has no need for it. Otherwise his other features that make him standout is his relatively pale complexion, complemented by his stark white hair.

A trademark he always has on him is his short navy blue scarf wrapped loosely around his neck. The rest of his apparel is relatively normal, loose jeans for sprinting and tight upper clothes with a bullet vest.

Personality:

⌘ Unwavering Optimism: Kien is one of the few optimist left in this desolate world. He somehow finds the silver lining, a different perspective when bad things occur, no matter how grim. He would be the guy that says an empty glass is just "waiting to be filled." A smile is always usually plastered against his pale complexion. This is a double edged sword at times, usually making him look more naive than others.
⌘ Battle Trance: When the situation turns bad/serious, he dons an almost apathetic facade. His voice loses its usual happy go-lucky attitude and becomes cold and deep. He talks alot less, only talking if key information needs to be communicated. His eyes also becomes half-lidded, allowing Kien to focus all of his attention onto the mission at hand.
⌘ Mediator: Verbal spats tend to occur around the 'Devil's Runners', Kian would be the first at the scene to try and deescalate the situation. Even if it doesn't always work he still tries, if he didn't who would.
⌘ Knowledgeable: Kian tends to read anything tangible he can get his hands on, as such he has accumulated alot of knowledge both useful and trivial. This can help him in his personal customization of his weapons/armour.

Background:

Kien was born to parents who adored the ways of the past. Be it from old tales of the older century, of knights, samurai, vikings, they were absolutely rapt in these ancient stories. In an age of technological advance where everyone quickly forgoed the past, they stuck to it like tree sap. This fascination even extended to weaponry of old, katanas, rapiers, and especially the crossbow. Kien in particular had a liking towards the crossbow.

Kien's parents were both excellent marksmen, being able to hit targets from an extremely impressive distance. However it wouldn't be a stretch to call Kien a prodigy, he was soon able to surpass his parents and rose above and beyond what any kid should have. For some peculiar reason the symbol of the goat was always present, logo on his sleeves and crossbow.

It wasn't until that incident that Kien would be forced to up the antsy of his masterful use of the crossbow. He survived the destruction of Enoh, and with his own eyes witnessed his own parents demise infront of him during the initial panic, his parents last breaths pleaded with him not to blame himself and live on happily. This was a dark time for Kien, he fell into a put of self loathing and apathy. In this period he took less then savory jobs. It took him near a decade of self-discovery to process and internalize his parents final wish for him, in present he tries to atone for this in his own ways, and trying to help individuals as much as he could. During this period he hones his skill near to mastery.

A few months have passed, and whilst doing some oddjobs he had a run in with the Devil Runners and somehow was able to impress them with his own marksmanship, and would eventually joined them. He joined as their eyes, and cover during missions.

Pros:

⌘ Eye transplant: After the incident with his parents Kien was surgically implanted with an artificial left eye. With this eye he's able to see wide and far distances easily, allowing him to provide invaluable reconnaissance for his team. It also helps augment his already superb marksmanship. This eye glows a dull white when in usage.
⌘ Marksmanship: His most noteworthy skill is his marksmanship, he had earned the name 'Deadeye', and has pinpoint accuracy on his crossbow, and to some degree his AUG aswell. The runners tend to depend on him as their cover when running missions.
⌘ Close-Mid Quarters Combat: He's no stranger to a close-mid range battle, particularly when his location had been compromised. He's not on the same level of his other teammates but he is able to fend off an odd pursuer or two if time calls for it. He has personally received a few lessons on CQC from Loki.

Quirks:

⌘ Naivety: His optimism sometimes clouds his judgement, he can make odd calls here and there when he feels pity for the enemy (particularly if they're human). He chooses to see good in alot of people when time and time again this has proven to be false. This also extends to hard calls that have to be made at times.
⌘ Touchy about his 'fake' eye: Because it reminds him of his parents untimely deaths, he closes his left eye when not in use of it. When others comment on his eye he gets uncharacteristically irritable, and wears a glare on his face. He also gets silent and defensive during this time, and after being left by himself for a few hours he can go back to his normal self.

Habits:

⌘ Collecting old relics: A habit instilled by his parents that has stuck was his odd fascination with anything relating to the time before the destruction. He goes out of his way to find relics, and usually spends a considerable amount of his personal sum to trade for them. His quarters is full of things from the past.
⌘ Bonecracking: When he needs to think of anything that he deems serious he has an unconscious nervous tick of cracking his bones like his fingers, or neck.

Equipment:

⌘ Gas Mask: [Seen in the appearance] As per the norm, Kien also carries around a gas mask for safety reasons.
⌘ Crossbow: [Reference] His most prized crossbow, lovingly named 'Ashes and Bones'
⌘ Tavor: [Reference] A small, lightweight assault rifle for when his crossbow doesn't cut it.
⌘ Bullet Proof Vest: He wears it just in case it would be for use, and it's light enough to be able to sprint in.
⌘ Army Knife: Used as a last resort alongside his CQC as a last resort in really closed quarters skirmishes.

Relations/Initial impressions:

⌘ Ashur:

"Classic Mrs Sadist, loves to inflict pain, I think. Her leadership is otherwise extremely noteworthy. I don't know how she manages everyone and make them stand in line, pretty impressive stuff. I think she's out to get me for my crossbow."

⌘ Rue:

"The youngest, and pretty much the one that stirs up the most trouble back at home. She's an interesting little thing, she's got a knack for chemistry like Flamel. I find her to be one of the hardest to get a conversation going. In mission she sings an entirely different tune, she's a great shot, and she covers you notably well."

⌘ Klaus:

"I mean I get his nickname is speed, but hearing and seeing are very two different things; needless to say, dude's fast. He's mostly a tad overprotective, kinda like a bear actually; he's kinda like the big brother I never had. Other than that we have a mutual interest towards each others weapons, the drawing weight of his bow is nothing to be scoffed at, it's impressive how he can handle it in dangerous situations. Other than that I've offered to teach him how to handle a simple handgun for emergency purposes."

⌘ Sidney:

"Sidney? She really reminds me of Ashur at times, except more exlosivey than sadist. She's pretty much the frontline when it comes to missions, and I wouldn't dispute it, the frontline is a damned harsh place but she gets the job done."

⌘ John:

"Good ol' John, he's pretty much the grizzled war vet that keeps everyone grounded. It's not always a bad thing, but he also tends to do it when good things occur; calling him a skeptic isn't too far off. His criticisms always uhhm, yeah they sting but it's the harsh truth, in these days i'd rather have the hard truth than a comforting lie cause it just might be the difference between living and dying."

⌘ Russel:

"Our very own medic, i'd be lying if I said everyone in runners hasn't visited this guy more than once. I've seen his handiwork first hand in the field, and it's not the most beautiful thing but it gets the job done even if it hurts alot in the meantime; nevertheless it's reassuring to have him present."

⌘ Vadri:

"Vadri is well adjusted all things considered. I think I can count on her to mediate if I'm not around or sleeping, or something. She's a good listener too, she almost never interrupts you when you talk and provides a good opinion at the end. Glad she has my back."

⌘ Liam:

"We get along relatively well cause' we both read, he tends to borrow a book or two from me from time to time and when time allows it we can discuss some books we liked. We do butt heads on occasion at times, but that's easily water under the bridge and we get along surprisingly well."

⌘ Konstantin:

"One of the two resident chemists in devils runners. When my eye acts up he really doesn't ask much questions aside from the general ones which is very appreciated. Flamel is dealing with everything happening as much as the next guy, and he doesn't really try to hide it so respect to that. Overall he's a good guy that has your back behind the scenes."

Yeah holy crap the initial intro posts were great, I wanted that Witcher and others interaction dude. Damn such a great concept.

Telrakh Clan:

-Razed by an unknown clan and extinct.
A great clan once known for their mastery of the sword, it was once said that they danced through the battlefields and decimated their enemies in swift stride. Their skill with the sword was said to be graceful, almost divine. They did not like outsiders as they greatly feared their sword art would be copied and muddied by outsiders, due to this they did not socialise or trade with other clans. This also meant that they had no pacts and treaties with surrounding tribes, choosing to be elusive than hospitable.

Despite their tremendous skill with the sword they were taken by surprise by an unknown enemy with unknown fighting styles, what the enemy lacked in skill they made up for in thrice the numbers, and with the Telrakh having no allies, the village was razed and fell. Their own hubris led to their untimely demise.
Many died in the initial onslaught, however the scant few that survived were taken and tortured to reveal their secrets, astoundingly none broke, and their secrets died with them.

Taltrus struggles to recall his old tribe but always felt a pang of melancholic nostalgia around the sweet smell of citrus, and the calming smell of green pastures.

Tlalli and Kanza have roughly the same positions in their tribe, it was an eventuality they would have met even if they had tried to avoid it. Initially acquainting with each other when the clans met to talk about and maintain their peace treaties. With their positions being essentially the same thing they hit it off well, being able to relay each others worries, and have another mind of similar nature to provide a valid second opinion on subjects pertaining to their respective tribes. As such they are good friends and when they can meet, and would share a drink or two for discussion of their tribe. Them being in good terms with each other was also supported by Kanza's tribe, as this promoted good relations between the tribes.

Kanza was required to meet with another clan situated in the east, the journey was long, and rather cumbersome. Whilst on the road they were ambushed by unknown bandits, Kanza and his escort were outnumbered and had it not been for Floran's intervention they might've not have gotten away with just injuries. Though initially wary he invited the weary traveler on the journey with them on the way and they grew to become friends during the travel. Floran would visit the Longear tribe on occasion and would have drinks with Kanza from henceforth, or hold mock competitions in archery between each other. Kanza and Floran click well, and though they have their disagreements on some topics they usually compromise or get over it.

Kanza meet Aurelia through his diplomatic clan meetings at the age of 11, initially being friends. It was a hard effort to from Kanza to have Aurelia melt her icy exterior but he did. Their official relationship began when Kanza was being prepped up to be the head adviser at the early age of 13. They had a short but sweet childhood fling that did not end well due to the sheer distance between their tribes finding it hard to meet, only ever doing so semi frequently when the two clans had a reason to meet. The journey there was no small ride either, as their clans are located at a respectable distance between each other. As of now they are friends of sorts, with Aurelia and Kanza both feel calm in each others presence. Kanza could tell she cared deeply for those she deemed as friends, even when she doesn't outright state so. Kanza and Aurelia get along well as both are more mature than others for their age, and when they both chose to end their relationship because of how it was hard to maintain due to the distance, both ended on good terms and are still friends.

Vatten had conscripted Taltrus to serve as a bodyguard to Aurelia when fears of an eventual assassination attempt arose. Initially it was a silent relationship, with him just keeping constant vigil in or out of her presence. Given that they spent so much time together, they began to slowly converse and socialise eventually transforming into an odd friendship. Since they spent much time together they began doing activities to pass the time, sparring sessions, an odd game here or there, Aurelia even had shown him a few Vatten-style techniques, and he did the same with his own techniques. Eventually though, the assassins did come full force. Taltrus dispatched of them quickly, the seasoned assassins in their many years, had never experienced his sword style, and as such were dispatched quickly. He had left one alive for the Vatten tribe to question. After the job was done, and he was about to be paid he refused doing so, stating that the kind friendship of Aurelia was enough. Ever since then Aurelia would insist on paying for his food when he visits, or even sending presents. Other than that their personalities mesh extremely well, being somewhat similar, and gets along excellently. Sometimes they even butt heads due to their similar personalities.

Taltrus has heard of the infamous cruelty of the Karill, and has a personal distaste for their ways and culture. However when passing through he had glimpsed at the beauty of Narcissa, and it's not a stretch to say he was more than charmed. He has tried to bury this feeling but finds it somewhat difficult to do, cognitive dissonance was it?

During his stay with the Urisadae clan he had accidentally noticed her unadulterated compassion, something about the way she cared more for others despite how many judged her looks strung a couple of cords within Taltrus, a kindred spirits of sorts. Eventually this feeling of empathy would evolve into a crush that even Taltrus himself does not know yet.

Like most of his relations they stumbled upon each other in a forests. She exuded a distraught and melancholic presence, and began to converse and eventually flirt with the traveler. Lacking experience in socializing she pretty much worked him over quite easily. Even someone like Taltrus could feel her hiding her sadness behind a mask, for reasons he did not know. Taltrus bit his tongue chose not to comment on this observation. He tried to offer her to travel with him temporarily, but she politely declined and soon after broke relations with each other. They are still friends and would pop by for a hello if he's in Abaneki territory.

Having been acquainted initially when Taltrus spotted Noora behind the trees intently watching- no observing him. For the past few days he had felt someone was doing so during his temporary tenure in the forests of the Bellcairn. Cautiously he introduced himself meaning no harm to the Bellcairn, and would leave if need be. She allowed him to stay, and soon struck up an odd friendship as she would carefully observe his training. Noora would eventually begin to pester him in teaching him his style, though initially reluctant Taltrus relented after a week and began teaching her. Eventually it led to something more, and Bellcairn is one of the few places he visits occasionally.
