Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

seconded, i need all my other rune alphabets too because currently using unicode for it is less than desirable.

@Mahz instead of having color pickers, why not do it where you can do it like in photoshop (idk what that's called) where you can drag the slider around a bit more dynamically than having all these set colors. like this;

ps: Vollkorn font that you linked is really really nice. Please add that if you can.

I'm not sure I see an issue with the current color options. They are discreet to the point where I can easily click the one I want instead of typing in hex codes, and if I wish to have a more personalized touch, the hex code option always exists. If we put a full color slider, it would limit the former use of the current option.
As Ceraun readied her jetpack, plugging the cord into the base of her neck, she had an ulterior motive. As soon as the connection was established, she was encoding a message to her General even as she announced her intent to fly away.

The conversation lasted merely seconds, and Ceraun withdrew the attachment from her node nonchalantly. "Well, if there's no reason to fly away..." she muttered before turning towards their new friend. "Gav, was it? I would like to propose a trade. Back on our vessel, we have records of thousands of races that may be of specific interest to you. In return, I would love to experience and study your particular talents. Gravitational manipulation is an intriguing field of science and magic. I give you my personal guarantee as a doctor that no harm will come to you." She smiled broadly and extended her hand out towards Gav. "Do we have a deal?"

"Ah, you be knowin' my manners come at a price," Racchus replied as he grabbed a couple of mugs off the back counter, twirled them around, then filled them with some frothy brown liquid. "But for one of my own, first drink is free, providin' you buy a second." He slammed one mug down in front of Yvah, then tipped the other down his own gullet, downing it in seconds. "Now, I won't be sayin' your presence is unwelcome here, but you are drippin' some other villain's blood on my countertop. Seein' as you've got a few bodies in tow, I assume you're lookin' fer a place to hole up a bit, maybe get the clankers off your back, eh?"

Racchus glanced around at those who accompanied Yvah, seemingly noticing them for the first time. "And welcome to all on ya! I'll get you up a coupla nice rooms. Gonna have to charge the hourly rate so early in the day, but you probably won't mind payin' one gold an hour for the lot of ya, right? The fee comes with my personal guarantee that no one down here will so much as glance at your room. Of course, you are free to pay more or less, and my extra services vary by that price too. I suggest payin' the fee, though. That gobbie over there ain't too fond of your forestin' types." Racchus gave a wide grin towards Ceria and winked. "Of course, I think you look right nice. What'll it be?"
@The Mighty Hero A few questions:

1) Is this taking place as a play by post here, or do you intend to run a live game off site through discord or other means?

2) Are you accepting Unearthed Arcana content? There is a plethora of content out there, making up for the biggest lacks in D&D 5e.

3) Are you using any optional rules that would be useful to know about (feats, flanking, etc)?

4) If we start at lvl 1, we would be largely ineffective against even the weakest of the king's minions. Have you considered starting at a slightly higher level? A lvl 3 or 5 start gets characters into the feel of their characters much faster without the potential of being oneshot by stubbing your toe. It is also nearly impossible to run most casting classes at lvl 1, as well as classes like Monk that have limited resources. Heck, Monk doesn't even get ki until lvl 2. Tl;dr, I've played a lot of low level campaigns, and they aren't very interesting to me mechanically.

5) Since you don't have a lot of posts on the forum, it might be worth asking: how experienced with D&D are you? How do we know you will be committed to a long-term adventurer? Etc?

I'm not sure if I have interest or not, but these questions are, I feel, important to most 5e campaigns.

@JBRam2002 The problem with barrier is you have listed as level one, which is for regular person with no special abilities or powers. It is unlikely you'd be even casting a spell at that level. Refer to the below:

<Snipped quote>

Healing would be fine as a 2 if it were basically a "stabilize" cantrip, which prevents someone's condition from getting worse, but because it is using magic to heal instead of just applying regular first aid it is a 3.

I have increased Healing to Tier 3 and Projected Barrier to Tier 2 without changing wording. Is this acceptable?
"Well, that was more information than I was planning to share," Ceraun replied to Vropda, a grin evident on her face. She shrugged towards their General, as if saying "what can ya do?" before turning back to the scholar. "Perhaps I should ask you the same questions, seeing that we are new in this quadrant. I do not know of many races that manipulate the very forces of gravity. Impressive! As for myself, my name is Ceraun, one of the last of my race. My origins matter little, as my world has since fallen to its end, a fate that we should have seen coming for eons. Our foolishness destroyed us, and there is little left.

"I am Oujavu. Pleased to meet you."

Ceraun gave a short bow, one hand placed on her forehead perpendicularly, a sign of respect from her people. The insinuation was likely clear to a researcher, and Ceraun hoped this piece of culture would add to his collection. However, her bow was interrupted by a shout in the distance. "I DIDN'T DO IT!" came the interruption, and Ceraun straightened before glancing in his direction, barely catching a glimpse of the man darting around a corner. "I see little reason to give chase," she spoke up. "Unless you say otherwise, General. My jetpack is fueled and at the ready."

The sheathed weapons did not remain sheathed for long. Almost as soon as they had passed through the gate, signs of struggle were evident. When the gnome came into view, pursued by its shadowy counterparts, Katia had already taken off on all fours, rushing forward to help. ”Hold on, mage!“ she cried out, hoping to garner the attention of some of the shadows and draw them away from their prey.

As Katia approached, she climbed up on a canopy on one of the buildings, conjuring from within a ball of ki energy to fling at the shadows should one approach. Moving too far forward was likely to result in her own harm more than protecting the wizard, as her allies were somewhat slower than she was, but this building should hopefully provide some shelter from oncoming foes while allowing her clear shots. She could only see a handful of the Shadows, but so far, none wielded ranged weaponry. That worked in her favor. She stood up proudly, radiant energy brimming from her palms, and called down to the enemies below. ”Hey, Shadow Things! Pick on someone your own size!”

@JBRam2002 Still interested but I've been waiting on @WindsOfFate :S Kai's between his character and the front door, unless you want me to edit my previous post somehow :/

Thanks for the response! I think WoF said he would post soon. You should talk with us in Discord! Then it's easier to drop hints like "yo, sexy man, get that post going." Or however you do it.

Shivs - Vampire - Battle Master Fighter 5 / Assassin Rogue 4 / Fiend Patron Warlock 1
RPer: @Cu Chulainn

There seems to be nothing written here... Hey, is this the right script?
RPer: @Lauder

They say there is a dragonborn named Garnesh the Bloodthirsty, a man so powerful that he can cut straight through a man in clad in iron. He wields only the mightiest Greataxe, one that drips acid strong enough to dissolve a man in mere seconds, this axe is named “Thu’um.” His rage can be stopped by none, his anger strong enough to rip even a boat’s hull in half. His hide strong enough to shatter swords, claws sharp enough to take a man's head off, and acid just as strong as the stuff that coats his blade. This is no mere man we are talking about, now, he is a force of nature.
Eliza Abbercroft - Rock Gnome - Lore Master Wizard 10
RPer: @Ms Ravenwinter

Now this one is strange folk. Lass comes up to your knee, but wears hats that are as tall as your chest. Calls herself Eliza Eber... Eliza Avery... Eliza Ubercreep? Eliza Abbercroft? Some dumb name like that. Lady would follow you 'round and take notes. Even had a crazy eye that only cleared up when she was sprouting tentacles 'n fire 'n fiery tentacles from her fingertips. Cute little bugger though, 'about as awkward with the crew as a fawn learning to walk.
Hana "The Wall" Ironbeard - Hill Dwarf - Protection Cleric 10
RPer: @Ms Ravenwinter

I see this mean-lookin' thing, hulked in iron plate and bulwarked by a shield 'bout as large as herself. She's spittin' out words like a lass that spent half her life at sea and half in a Dwarven pub, then calls herself 'The Wall'. An' I can see the likeness to the name. But where she's strong, she's just as stalwart in divine favor. Could use some godly luck among the crew. Tho, I'm not so sure she's short enough for a Dwarf, but she definitely has the tongue for it. And the tolerance for ale.
Calico Reemes - Human (Ghost) - Gunslinger Fighter 6 / Inquisitive Rogue 4
RPer: @Big Dread

The man who was once Jacky Taeweather is now gone in all but body, replaced by the spirit that calls himself Calico Reemes. For those who knew the powerfully built and serious sailor would be quite shocked to ever speak with this dark passenger now inside of him. He holds himself in a way that seems to be like a man made of cloth and full of loose springs. He sways from side to side as the ship and breeze moves with an uncanny balance and grace that seems utterly contradictory to the personality that rests under the surface. Seemingly incapable of acting seriously, Reemes always has at least half of a smile on his face while doing nearly anything. This grin widens to something like that of a hungry shark when he fights or is about to do something he knows is going to get on people's nerves. Calico Reemes was once a terrible pirate who swore his completely undying loyalty to the family that his current Captain Jill belongs to. This oath, and all oaths you can weasel out of the dead pirate, are taken with a kind of holy reverence that he will never break. This makes Reemes into an impressive weapon in the right hands as he has few morals and even less issue with doing things that many would turn their nose up at or perhaps void their stomach.
Nemiea - Saber Tabaxi - Blue Dragon Heritage Sorcerer 10
RPer: @Zverda

While the woman often changed the way that she looked, there was one thing that never changed... her eyes. As if the moon goddess herself has blessed the silver-haired Tabaxi, one eye was a brilliant gold color and one as blue as the sky. While she was a young woman at the time, merely 18 years of age, the scaled feline was not afraid to step forward and fight and while she was naive, she was good at one of the many things she did... seduction. Something about her never seemed to allow people to pause at the fact that her light blue scales were always open to sight, or that the horns atop her head set her apart from others of her race, no... she wore the mark of her Sorcery and her bloodline with pride. It must have been that pride that drew people to her
Askia - Kobold - Awakened Mystic 10
RPer: @Lauder

They say she received her powers from the very gods themselves, destined for something higher purpose. Askia, a Kobold hailing from an underground society and taught how to wield powers of the mind. The three-foot tyrant, however, denies her supposed destiny even with her grand power, preferring to play dice or her lute or even just making fancy jewelry. Her mystical teachers would be disappointed in seeing what this destined hero was now doing, but she doesn't pretend to be what she isn't, a hero. No, she is a simple person with power abilities, a lot like some other people on my ship. Granted, no one is quite so simple here.
