Reason for becoming a Hunter: Pride and accolades. He is a trophy hunter, taking a piece of each kill to mark his accomplishments and to spread his fame and infamy among other hunters. A successful hunt is its own reward, but that doesn’t mean you can’t gain something extra on top of that; what’s the point of being the best if no-one knows it?

Main Goal: To hunt the Alpha, the biggest game of them all, and to claim a piece of it for his collection.

Other: N/A
It looked like that was going to be his last Shield for now, at least until he found another mana crystal; hopefully it would be enough to let the Wisp finish off the Slime. It certainly looked like the fight was in their favour, the next blast of magic sending chunks of slime spraying all over the wall and stopping the creature in its tracks. The Slime began to quiver and seemed to be second guessing getting involved in this fight, as a one-sided hunt suddenly turned into a 3-on-1 battle. Or at least 2-on-1 with Jacob cheering from the side-lines.

The Slime turned and retreated deeper into the crevice, climbing the wall towards a crack in the rock that it must have used to ambush him in the first place. Jacob was perfectly fine with letting the thing go; after all, all three of them had been smacked around by the Slime and now that he was out of MP for healing and shielding he wasn’t exactly eager to keep fighting.

The Wisp, however, had other ideas and raced off after the Slime while shouting about lost XP. And suddenly, it occurred to Jacob what it was that had been bothering him about what the Wisp was saying. XP, RPG’s, low level monsters; he was so used to hearing that kind of talk from his gaming group that it never struck him as odd, but the monsters here shouldn’t know anything about that sort of thing. What’s more, she had described herself as a ‘Mighty General of the Demon King’.

Could there be others like him in this world? Was it possible other people from his world had been chosen after death to be resurrected as monsters? Or rather, did he really think that the Demon King had chosen him and him alone?

“W-wait. Are you from Earth? Hey!”

Jacob flew after the Wisp, suddenly forgetting about the Slime altogether as he sought answers. If there was another person, if someone else had been brought here, then there must be more, maybe dozens. They could be in this cave as well.

@Rafiel_purewing how long do Shade's creations last exactly? Or am I misreading and that dagger is a real dagger and not made out of shadows?
You won't automatically learn a spell by analyzing it.

I wouldn't expect to. The extra starting skills should ideally be useful but no one should have an overpowered skill because they got lucky with their backstory.

A Slime doesn't have as much MP as a Wisp, so Jason can only use Stone Shot twice before he runs out. A Wisp that learned that same skill/spell, however, would be able to use it 3 times because they have more MP.

But can both creatures use the skill at the same power? Would a Pixie learning Mana Bolt be able to do as much damage as a Wisp using the same level of ability?

It's just like real life--you can learn any skill you put your mind to even if you're not "naturally talented" at it. But Bruce Lee does not fear the man who knows 10,000 kicks. He fears the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. And he'd probably shit his pants at the guy who has practiced one kick 10,000 times in 10,000 different applications.

I understand the concept but I'm going to disagree with you when it comes to support classes. As someone who is likely not going to be fighting on the front lines, I want the most varied toolbox of 'kicks' that I can get, while also practicing the most useful ones a couple thousand times. Also, as a man with 0 kicks, I feel I should at least learn the most basic one.
@Skinner35 no, that makes perfect sense. I'll get a character up later, probably using the Sinanju I posted above with some changes to its armament.

Do you want CS's just posted straight into the character tab or do you want to approve them first?
@Zeroth ok, that makes sense. So it's not automatic you actually have to make an effort to observe the spell.

A related question. Does observing a spell with Magic Analysis make it easier to learn that spell yourself? In fact is it even possible to learn another creatures spells? I'd completely understand if you didn't want Pixie's learning Mana Bolt since it would take away from what Wisps are known for.
...well, Puck; no system updates for my guy. I guess he'll be the first to say hello to the land of the undead.

Says the guy with the healing spells.
Think Star Wars, but no Huge Lightsabers.

That puts a damper on things. Guess I can just use a solid sword though.
@Skinner35 I'll keep that in mind.

What is the technology level involved here? We seem to be space-faring based on the prompt, but are we at the level of laser weaponry or are things still relatively similar to modern technology.

In its source material the mech in the top image is space-worthy, flies and uses laser weaponry including a mech-scaled lightsaber; I don't want to be too overpowered here.

As the fleeing villain opened fire on them Shingo threw himself on the ground and covered his head with his arms, bullets whizzing over him. He heard the motorcycle’s engine fade into the distance and waited a couple seconds longer until he was sure the coast was clear. When he was sure he picked himself up off the ground in time to see the other heroes doing the same. Thankfully no one seemed to have been hurt too badly by the barrage, the woman with the glowing sword was clutching a wound on her arm but otherwise everyone looked ok.

Well, aside from the dagger in Eraserhead’s back.

“Was that all of them? Have we missed them all?”

Twisted Metal had disappeared by now and the guy with the gun and the martial artist had ridden off in the same direction on the bike; all three villains had slipped out of their grasp. Even with the four of them and a renowned hero like Eraserhead on their side they couldn’t catch a single villain.

“Who even were those guys? I didn’t recognise anyone except Twisted Metal.”

It was an unacceptable loss on their part, one that unfortunately must have been caught on camera if that news chopper was still around. It wasn’t even that they had let the villains get away; with the injuries everyone had sustained they had indisputably lost the fight.

“What happened to that other guy? The one who was fighting Twisted Metal earlier? With the cables?”

Gritting her teeth Alina raised a hand to shield her face as the masked man pelted her with rubber bullets, the hero running in circles around her as he kept firing. The non-lethal rounds stung and bit like little insects but ultimately didn’t do much more than leave a bruise that disappeared almost as soon as it formed.

It was tiring however; every time she healed it sucked away a little bit more of the energy she had gained from her earlier meal. And it was frustrating, to be played around with by this man in his silly costume and his toy gun and its fake bullets; she would kill him now if she could. But he was fast, faster than her Quirk somehow and she didn’t want to waste energy chasing him around unless she was sure she could catch him.

The stranger with the trident had disappeared somewhere as soon as Alina had taken her eyes off of him, meaning he was alone now so long as the other heroes didn’t realise something was happening over here, away from the main fight. As soon as he let his guard down, or stopped moving, she was going to pounce and he wouldn’t have another chance to get away.

So Alina was biding her time, waiting for the right moment to strike, when out of nowhere a young girl, surely still a teenager, grabbed him from behind. She held a knife under his chin and whispered something in his ear, but Alina didn’t wait to see what happened next, whether she would slit his throat or he would somehow escape; now was her moment to strike.

Dashing forward to close the distance between them Alina lashed out with her appendage, her second mouth shooting out to grab the gun from the man’s hand. She aimed for the barrel of the revolver, even taking care not to accidentally close her teeth on his hand instead. Alina didn’t want to hurt him yet, now that she had a chance she wanted to play with her food for a bit.
