Sam Henderson, Blue Ranger

A P P E A R A N C E

Samson stands at exactly 6'0 with an athletic build. He used to be the shortest kid in his class before hitting a big growth spurt. Sam started learning different forms of martial arts once his brother became a Power Ranger, hoping to become one like him. Despite everything this was the only thing he remained consistent in. If It wasn't for his roommate, Lee, you wouldn't be able to differentiate Sam from someone who was living in the street. This actually happened a few times when he volunteered at Angel Cove's Soup Kitchen. He keeps his hair clean and kept out of habit, but he doesn't really care too much for clothes unless he needs to wear something specific. Otherwise you'll usually find him in a hoodie, sweats, graphic tees, and a jean jacket.

The one thing that will always look new on him is his hoes. He inherited his brother's collection and kept it going. He treats them with more care than he does for himself.

S T Y L E

Samson has a sense of style, but doesn't care to apply it to himself so he lets Lee shop for him as well whenever he goes out. If you ever see Samson dressed up in anything more than a hoodie it was either laundry day or he was on a mission. He does however shops for his shoes and they will always match his outfit even if the outfit is mix-matched. He has a tattoo of the Rangers symbol on his right shoulder. It's usually hidden under a shirt or hoodie. He also has a tattoo of his brother's name and birthday over his heart.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

• Reckless - Sam confuses his recklessness for bravery. He sees his ability to push through fear no matter what rationale is telling him is a good thing, but it's really just him moving through life with a death wish and if he's not careful he's not the only one he'd get killed.
• Determined - Ever since Sam was young he was always self-assured and determined to walk the path he set for himself. Not satisfied with just being the resident geek when his world was opened to the possibilities of more he jumped at it without hesitation. He does whatever he sets his mind to do and there's rarely any stopping or convincing him otherwise.
• Witty - Sam hides his pain behind jokes and laughter. When he's around others he's the life of the party even if he doesn't look like it. He rarely ever shows how he's feeling unless it's behind closed doors.

F A C T S

• Sam spent his childhood chasing after his older brother, Andre. He was the cool older brother that everyone wished they had. It was no surprise to him when he became a Power Ranger. He found out about it when he followed Andre to their base one day. He wanted to join them, but they said he was too young. Instead of feeling like the rift between them grew that much more Sam was determined to push himself even harder to become one. When Andre died he took it harder than anyone. To him Andre was invincible. It shook him to his core, but when the other Rangers disbanded Sam was determined to protect and live up to Andre's legacy.
• Sam built his own computer when he was eleven and taught himself how to hack. He thought this would be enough to help the Rangers even without being one, but they already had someone to fill that role. That's when he decided to be more than just a brain.
• Currently, Sam is attending Angel Grove State University Majoring in Computer Engineering. He lives in an apartment off-campus with his best friend Lee. He moonlights as a vigilante cleaning up the city and investigating corruption and shady deals. His investigations have recently led him to HEART Corporation. He hasn't found anything concrete yet and has been blocked by the best firewall he's ever come across. He needs a way inside and he just might have found it.

R A N G E R

Why is Sam joining the team? Sam's joining the team, not because it's what he's always wanted, but it's because it's what he and the world needs right now. The others may not be willing to don the suit again, but he knows the world needs Power Rangers and he's not afraid of the sacrifice it requires. But he's been preparing for this moment without even realizing it. He just hopes in the end that he continues to do what's right and make his brother proud.

Not quite sure that's what he meant, though he can chime in if I'm wrong. Think he's just saying that if you ever get stuck with where to go next on a post, that you can bring it up here so we can collectively help out on a way forward. Not that we should discuss every single story beat publicly and not let anything be a secret or a surprise, but rather that if anyone is having trouble integrating their character and the plans they have for them into the overall main plot of the story (Which is currently to travel to different worlds, seal the keyholds to keep darkness from coming through and destroying said worlds, and ultimately find out who is responsible for unleashing darkness on the worlds, (Which I'm pretty sure we publicly OOC all know is Xehanort)

Not to say some things can't be more public, but some things should stay a mystery even OOC until the time comes.

I know it can be hard to play a character who hasn't really reached the point yet where they have truly become the character you imagine them to be. Morgan has gone through changes since we started, I've changed things about her (Like how I practically dipped all of her ice stuff in favor of her being a White Mage) and, ultimately, (This might be a spoiler for anyone who cares about that sort of thing with her), she's not even the character I intend to be playing come a ways down the line. I mean when the RP first started she was very standoffish, didn't really seem to like anyone, and just kinda thought everyone was an idiot. But I've pretty much rewritten how she works as a character because that just wasn't very fun to write with.

But we still gotta figure out who they are in the now, and changes can be made to the characters if need be, we can retcon things if we want, just to make a character better and help them fit in and help them move forward, and become who you, the writer of that character, want them to be.

Morgan is a long ways off from what she's going to be come the end of KH1. But still gotta write her in the now, and work on getting her to that point through the experiences she has between now and then. Initially Morgan was a Black Mage capable of Ice and Fire magic, just not very in control of it. Now I have effectively gotten rid of her ability to use Black Mage spells, and she's just a White Mage. I did that because I didn't feel like being an Ice Witch really fit her character at all, given that she's a Princess who was trained by Merlin Himself. I had my reasons for it originally, but now I have pushed those ideas onto a different character who will serve an altogether different role.

The point of all this is to say... we can make changes. Don't feel locked into what you have gone with so far. I mean, we may be quite a few months into this RP, but let's face it we're still in the Tutorial. So now's as good a time as any to rewrite characters if we need to.

I meant essentially both. If you want your plans for your character to be a secret they can be, but if they affect any of the other characters in anyway that needs to be discussed with the players whose characters it'll affect. But other than that, yeah. Openly discussing plans for your character and where you want to take your character is beneficial for everyone. People won't step on your toes and you'll be able to make it work out the way you intended it or better with help.

@IAmTheIsland I completely hear and understand where you're saying. You're not overthinking. A lot of the beginning has been focused on planting seeds for the directions of each other's characters and admittedly there's been a lot of behind the scenes discussions rather than openly in the OOC and with this I understand why you wanted a discord because of how planning goes there.

This is on me. I said we're all GMs here but haven't been acting like it because I thought people wanted to keep things a surprise for their characters and for the players for when it happens, but I agree with @mattmanganon and I feel like it's better to have it all more openly discussed here so we know where the story's going. Do we all agree?

I apologize as well for the lack of posting. I have been dealing with a lot of IRL issues. I am still ready to rock and roll on this RP. I am working on my part right now, and I hope to have it done by today.

Thank you and thank you for the update! But honestly, you and Matt are good right now since you're still far ahead of everyone else in the story right now. So I don't mind a slower or extended pace for Enchanted Dominion.
