@KoL Oh Great, Now you forced my hand. Finis is going to have to be in a bush during this entire scene.

Are you sure he's even part of the group by this time?
Ok, everyone, so we finally moved ahead. You are free to finish the scenes you are in on your next post and bridge to this one.

This is time for the most important part that's determining a party leader. Please, make your choice well.

The Golden Sheep

"More often than not it's the monsters, there's too many of them to get rid of. When there are no monsters, there's wild animals or even the weather," the Captain replied to Althea while paying attention to Leon's behavior as he left them. The poor kid couldn't even disguise his displeasure. The best thing to do was give him time, thus Sonata remained silent, turning her attention back to her drinks unless Althea had anything else to ask.
Orello

The night would soon pass, bringing a new morning to follow it.

While the Princess conducted her review of Orello's troops, the Cadets would find themselves lined up in front of the Captain, outside of the fort. "Listen up, Cadets!" The Captain said, calling for their attention. "I have already informed you of the mission details so I'll not go over them again. From this time forward you'll be on your own with the Princess and Viola. I'll wait for your return here at Orello. This will be the last mission of some of you before graduating, so make it count, and don't die on me. I don't want to be the one to present your parents with a medal," she said with a less stern voice.

"There they are," the Captain said as soon as Viola and the Princess walked out of Orello, ready to join the Cadets' group. "I wish the best of luck for all of you," she said right after saluting the Princess and leaving back to Fort Orello.
"I'm sorry it took us so long. You won't believe what that Commander did to sneak his way out of a problem," Viola said as she joined the group once again, now completely armed and ready for their long expedition.

Meanwhile, the Princess remained silent for a few moments, pacing back and forth to take a better look at the Cadets. Once she was satisfied, with her evaluation, she said, "Before anything else, thank you for being here. I know that this may have come as a surprise for some of you but the truth is that, as an Academy mate of all of you, I believe this will be a good chance for all of us to learn more together."

"Please, don't feel intimidated by my social standing or rank. I'm as much of a student as you are. In fact, I propose that as soon as we stop for lunch we decide who will the leader of this expedition by voting," the Princess continued her speech talking in a normal tone, very different from the imposing one she used when she arrived at Orello, "Sonata also told me that you are a very spirited group. She believes that all of you will have a brilliant future after being properly polished and I believe in her assessment. So, how about dropping the formalities and have you call me Ires from now on as well?"

"Either way, how about we get going?" Ires said as she gestured for them to begin their march, keeping up the impression for the Orello guards that observed them from atop the fort's ramparts.

A few hours of marching later and the group would arrive at the destination of the first part of their trip, safe and sound for the time. The location of their resting spot were the old ruins of a village that succumbed a long time ago and was overrun by nature. A location that offered not only ample cover but fresh water and plenty of firewood as well. Certainly, they couldn't find anywhere better in this desolate region, or so Viola thought as she began to unpack and procure some provisions.
@KoL
I would assume that Eos would attempt to convince them to stay, but never give them any opportunity to betray her (can an android be a her?) That would be the most logical strategy. Give them rewards for their actions in terms of nice houses and shit, but don't increase their combat power and make sure they're never in a position to really hurt her.

Minimise the chance of betrayal while never being vulnerable to it.

That's the idea, but they'd have to do something first. Because the single reason Bonesword wasn't rewarded in any way up to now is because he never achieved anything and actively run away from a battle.

Just compare it to Eos' treatment of the Twins and Krieg. She rewards them when they achieve something, but punishes them when they fail, that's an incentive to get better. It's basic management skills. Blindly trusting proven betrayers isn't.
@Banana

Eos isn't dumb, she knows who Miyu is and what she's capable of very, very well. The simple fact that she can admit people like Miyu, Henry and Fran to join the Machina defies logic, but can be done for the story's sake.

Nevertheless, none of them can ever expect any form of decent treatment if they don't work very hard to prove themselves (and even then, Eos might still keep the remote termination button at hand at all times). The fact that Bonesword hasn't received any rewards is based this very argument, he hasn't proven himself yet and likely will take more time (he run away from Arcadia for no reason!).

They can join, but until they prove to not be a threat to the Machina, they'll be treated as 3rd class individuals and potential betrayers/spies. You can't really ask for more.
@KoL
If Henry, Miyu, and Fran all come to the Machina side, can Bonesword fittingly show them around Hyperion? I feel like it would make sense for someone like them to help them 'fit in.'

Fine, I don't see a problem with it. Will make it better for them to notice that the Machina are gonna treat them like low level grunts.
The first character that I can remember right now (not really the 1st of all since play RPGs for a helluva long time), was an epic (and I don't mean just in level, but achievements) Dwarven Defender on good ol' D&D 3.5. That character was a wild ride but one that I enjoyed from start to finish of the game because of how much the RNG favored me on that campaign.

Here on the Guild, my first was poor Kotori Tsubasa, for Toybox Memories. I still remember that character fondly, even if she was also the first one of them to taste the reality that Forum RPs tend to never go anywhere. still, she was a good character, very rough around he edges, but good notheless.
Edited my post already.

Now Atalanta is taking the chance and trying to go for the kill right from the start. She still got there first, just didn't do anything until the rest of the posts happened.
Sure, sure, I can edit it later. Even though it didn't really invalidate anything else that happened, if you look at it right. Events that happen and then simply are rewritten are a part of Nasuverses internal logic. There's dozens of NPs and skills that work on the basis of rewriting reality. But whatever.

Regardless of that I won't make case of bringing that ability up ever again, since the only single use it has is (along with Crossing Arcadia) to make sure that no one can escape from Atalanta on foot, since she'll always win any race, reality be damned.

This just reduces Atalanta to Crossing Arcadia, since all of her other skills are either badly described, or game-breaking.

Ok, I was going to post, but since @TheWindel already did it for me, it's you guys' turn again.

Perhaps I'll do a character to take part on this story, after all. Depends on how things go.
