My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

NCQuest: A Mecha RP - The Relief of Cape Town

The Lore Thread

The year is 2577, 500 years after a Nuclear War that ended the Age of the Nation-State. Now, the world is split between Independents; settlements and towns living a hardscrabble life in the wastelands, and the Ruling Corporations, eight large organizations that have seized large portions of the planet and its people for themselves. The majority of the Ruling Corporations' personnel are tyrannical and arbitrary, twisted by long isolation from the masses whose work supports their way of life. The average person in Corporate territory lives in fear, bowed down by heavy burdens in a soulless environment, before dying quickly and painfully.

Complicating the picture are the Neural Combatants (NCs), giant humanoid machines left behind by the nations of the world before everything burned in nuclear fire. Using technology that binds together brain and machine, all NCs have Cores that cannot yet be duplicated by even the most advanced Corporation; these Cores, when attached to a body, allow the pilot to conduct feats of strength and speed that borders on the supernatural. In essence, Neural Combatants use technology that makes Mecha work; the impractical made practical. The more NC Cores a Corporation has, the better they are in the constant warfare that covers the planet today.

But now, that balance is changing. With the help of stolen research from the other Ruling Corporations, Tshwane Mining Inc., the rulers of Sub-Saharan Africa, have done the impossible: Rediscover how to create new NC Cores. This gives them the potential to manufacture legions of new Mechs, and thus disturb the finely held balance between the Ruling Corps.

Now, Cape Town in South Africa, where the initial research was done, is being besieged by the Denver-Vegas, Fairbanks, and Paragon Corporations; all three have invested in a gigantic army to conduct said siege, while Volkov, the very strongest Ruling Corp has pressured Tshwane's ally, Al-Amir Group of Companies, to stay in the Middle East lest it face total destruction from the north.

So Tshwane's CEO, Katlego Kgosi, has resorted to desperate measures: He has called upon Haven, the collection of Independents that still rule Australia, to provide the help other Corporations would not provide; Haven, despite concluding a recent war against Red-Star, still has forces to spare for a relief expedition - particularly as Katlego has offered a tantalizing prize; a copy of the research on creating new NC Cores!

Consult the Lore Thread linked above if you want more info.

Rules

1.) No godmoding, metagaming, or mary sues.
2.) Be civil.
3.) Do not be an asshole.
4.) Post length is five sentences minimum, but longer posts are encouraged, of course. GMs are also bound by this rule.
5.) Antagonists (Paragon, Denver-Vegas, and Fairbanks) need special GM Permission to be allowed.
6.) Consult the Lore Thread (linked under the picture) if you want to know more about how NCs, Independents, and Corporations work.
7.) Post promptly; this RP will automatically end in two months (three at the minimum) no matter what plot remains to be done.

And yes, Inkarnate permitted this.

Here are the rules on characters and NC's: (last rules, I swear.)

You can have more than one character, with the limit being as many as you can take without stressing yourself out.

Osamu Akiyama was pissed. Hisako and TABRIS had defected on his watch, and he hadn't been able to get his desired Southshell Twink thanks to events beyond his control! And of course, Haven's 'fleet' had arrived only a few hours ago; this meant that Red-Star, despite their numbers, now had a chance of losing. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!

And he knew who was behind it too! He knew! Did that baka Alexander think he was stupid as well? Well, he wasn't; Osamu knew exactly what he was doing, sowing treason and spying for Haven like the uppity scum of the earth that he was!

Osamu would have dealt with Alexander sooner, but Hibiki was at stake. Hibiki, the person whom he had been mind-linking with every night for weeks. Hibiki, whose own pain echoed his own. Hibiki, whose dark side, implanted into him by that Serk-baka, was something Osamu did not want taking over the boy. Damnit, Alexander knew! Alexander had planted a weak spot in him!

Just murder them both - and Mako too, a voice inside him whispered. For a brief moment, Osamu drew up some papers; death warrants. Then he tore them apart and threw them into the trash bin. Why, why, why?! Why did I permit myself the weakness of wanting a family in Hibiki?!

The Red-Star Political Officer was struck with indecision. Then an idea came to him. Turning on the intercom, Osamu said, "Bring me Alexander Sky, Mako Shintai, and Hibiki Laplace. As for that Dread guy, give him what he wants, inlcuding prisoners to murder. Also, if we have additional pilots, give them an extra ration of coffee or alcohol."

Darwin City

Havenite Medium Tanks rolled out, firing at the Red-Star forces to cover the International Volunteers (and defectors)' retreat. These models had a miniature ECM (electronic countermeasure) system that caused missiles coming their way to veer away from the second defensive line. These were followed up by Havenite Gunships, floating craft equipped with black-market armor and weapons; in this case, Denver-Vegas missile launchers and Paragon laser weapons (obsolete ones; again, black-market).

These gunships would give Red-Star's own hovercraft an equal fight; they were outnumbered three-to-one by their counterparts, but had the advantage of being covered by Haven's own anti-air emplacements. Thus, the International Volunteers and Red-Star defectors had a clean path back to the Base.

Haven Base

Tabris would be taken to the hangar, where she would be fixed in place by scaffolding as part of an improvised 'interrogation and screening' program. Hisako's collar will be disabled, then sawn off by the Havenites, before the defector was whisked off into fairly comfortable custody for interrogation - her first one without torture. It was clear that Theodore had received news beforehand of the others' defections.

Sahaquiel and Kyexun will be in the repair bay and the hospital wing, respectively, and the latter will be allowed a camera and holoprojector in order to talk to Terra and receive messages from Theodore, who was now meeting the others in the Operations Room for a briefing.

In said operations room, the holograms were now of the situation in Darwin. Red-Star had begun entrenching itself in the outer portion of the city, but have made no move to drill down to the underground bunkers underneath the city - Not a True Burrow like Haven underneath Sydney, but still enough to shelter the civilian population; it was clear that Red-Star were going to attempt a full conquest before trying to re-enslave the civvies.

"I won't lie and say that we all performed perfectly," Theodore spoke, "We didn't. But let's focus on the bright side; we saved the Cores and Pilots of the two NCs we lost, and we gained two defectors at the same time with their accompanying NCs."

The holograms then changed to show a fleet of floating warships arriving southwest of Darwin City, streaming in from both the Outback and the Indian Ocean. These ships were painted white and brown, black and gold, and although their largest vessels were smaller than the Red-Star Supercarrier, the speed in which they arrived at was remarkable; they had moved into position faster than Red-Star's fleet.

"Another, unambigiously good thing is this: We bought enough time for the Haven Third Fleet to arrive, with word that they've destroyed a Red-Star force making for Perth; their wrecks now litter the Outback," Theodore then paused to allow the others to absorb the news.

He then fixed his gaze on them and said, "This means that we now have a chance not just of survival, but victory. Their morale is shaken by the failure of their vaunted brainwashing on two valuable pilots - and to them - even more valuable Mechs. And while we've lost one Field-Captain... We have a new one to introduce to you Volunteers."

Theodore pushed a button, and a side door opened, a signal for Adam Philips to walk in and introduce himself. Once he had done so, the General Commander of Haven then said, "Now, you know the drill: Bar, Coffeehouse, or... Actually, no Bathhouse unless you really want to get clean; I am not Osamu."

@Sgt Vandingo o, I take that back. @Letter Bee please tell us when you invite people.

I will on Discord after this.

If you want to do anything before being pulled back, include it as a flashback - Posting Order is abolished after the transition as long as you post only after two other posters have written something!
As long as you give me a point of where everyone is so I know how to get the characters rolling in a new scene. For instance, it matters a great deal whether Hisako is still under lock and key, being interrogated, and if Kxeyun is being hospitalized and whatnot, in case Terra wants to confront either one of them.

I'll try my best; Vanda/Vandingo will remind me if I forget.

For tomorrow or the day after that, would it be okay if I timeskip you all back to the Haven and Red-Star bases (the Red-Star base being their hovering flagship)?
Mass Effect: Seraphim Post

Ashton was shocked at the scene of ultraviolence in front of him, ultraviolence much different from the movies and extranet streaming series he had watched. He blinked once, he blinked twice, and then Flame broke the silence by saying, "You another one of our 'allies', I presume?"

A release of breath; a suppression of nausea, as Ashton forced himself to get used to the realities of conflict. He then looked at Laurence and gave a slight nod of acknowledgment. "If you're an ally, my alias is Aegis. As you mentioned 'Saris' while busing a hole through our wall, you must be connected with our mysterious employer. If so, it seems he's put himself in danger as well; how curious."

Flame looked at Ashton, saying, "Can you not act all cool in front of the heavily-armed merc who's just beaten someone to death in front of us? And yes, I know what a coping mechanism is." He then looked at Laurence and said, "My alias... Well, I have no alias; I'm just Flame Brooks, former slave, escaped back to Systems Alliance Space, got screwed over by the system, and then went back to 'lawless space' where I belong."

It was Ashton's turn to remark, "Flame, I think you're the one who's acting cool in front of the merc. I mean, does he look like he wants to talk about angsty backstories? No offense."

Flame snarked, "Well, if he's an enemy, I can buy time for you and Lokea to escape. If he's an ally, Saris can dock his pay if he kicks the metaphorical puppies."

The response from Ashton was, "That might not be enough of a threat. Now, before we provoke him further, I'll go continue hacking the enemy Mechs in pairs while you and Lokea watch out for their Aerial Support; I'm sure their aircraft ought to arrive right about..."

Enemy gunships were sighted making their way to the control tower, escorted by flying drones. With a few taps of his keyboard and swipes of his mousepad, he opened up the communications of each individual pilot as well. Now the aerial forces of the Blue Suns were open to them.
